Association of sustainability agriculture and farming practices is somehow closely connected. There are necessary different farming practices for both adjusted and unadjusted PFSI measurement. The study observes practices of paddy farming and if farmers are practicing agriculture sustainably by estimating PFSI in three villages of Gutudia union. The objective is to spot the present agricultural practices and accessible sustainable practices, to examine the sustainability degree at field beneath the present paddy farming systems using PFSI and additionally to identify recommendations. The unit of analysis is 50 farmers and measured on a scale of 0 to 100 and also through Saltiel, Bauder, and Palakovich (1994) index. The results discovers that the average sustainability level which is presumably quite unsustainable this shows the necessity for more extension of correct practices. Chi-square analysis shows that the level of farmers’ awareness toward sustainable agriculture and positive attitude are considerably different with the level of PFSI.

The purpose of this study was to assess household’s agricultural vulnerability to climate induced disasters and to identify the indicators of adaptive capacity that determine the vulnerability of south-western coastal household’s in Bangladesh. The vulnerability was calculated by taking the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concept through an Agricultural Vulnerability Index (AVI). Then the ordered logit model was employed in order to identify key determinants of agricultural vulnerability to climate induced disasters. A survey of 346 household’s head from the two settlements (181 household’s head from Sutarkhali and 165 household’s head from Nalian) of Sutarkhali Union of Dacope Upazila under Khulna District was used in this study. Findings revealed that the mean score of Sutarkhali was 0.703 (high) in exposure, 0.724 (high) in sensitivity, 0.341 (low) in adaptive capacity and finally, the agricultural vulnerability index (AVI) was 0.695 (high). On the same fashion, Nalian was an average score of 0.697 (high) in exposure, 0.721 (high) in sensitivity, 0.386 (low) in adaptive capacity, and finally 0.677 (high) in agricultural vulnerability index (AVI). Annual savings, formal education, ownership of livestock, improved seeds supply, access to irrigation pump, improved crop diversification/ High Yielding Variety (HYV) crops, access to large farm size and access to farm credit were found to be statistically significant indicators of adaptive capacity that determine agricultural vulnerability of the both study sites. Finally it is recommended that the intervention required for coastal adaptation of agriculture should be initiated by respective authorities.

This research aimed to identify the factors that influence farming households’ decisions on adaptation strategies and the highest priority strategy in South-Western coastal Bangladesh. Seven unions in Koyra Upazila were surveyed, and 60 households were interviewed from each union. The binary logit and multinomial logit models were used to analyse the data. The findings indicate that 58.6% of farming households adopted climate-related adaptation strategies, with seasonal migration being the most top priority. Similarly, the data suggested that years of education of the household heads, number of household members, land tenure, farming experience, climatic event risk perception, and farmer-to-farmer extension influenced both farming households’ adaptation decisions and the likelihood of choosing the highest priority adaptation strategies. Public–private partnerships (PPPs) can integrate funds, knowledge, and power structures. It can also balance expenses, liabilities, and opportunities. So, the development of PPPs may promote suitable adaptation strategies.

If stakeholders, service providers, and social systems adopt sustainable consumption behavior and regulate the production and consumption cycle, they may be facilitated to accomplish sustainable development with environmental and socioeconomic advantages. However, the purpose of this study was to look at the driving forces that influence consumer behavior in Bangladesh in terms of sustainable consumption. A quantitative survey was conducted among 384 participants aged 18 years and having minimum higher secondary educational qualifications. The data were collected from Khulna City Corporation of Bangladesh through a structured interview schedule using the convenience sampling technique. The results reported that environmental concern of the participants was found to be the top-ranked driving force and perceived environmental knowledge of the participants was the lowliest ranked driving force behind the consumers’ behavior towards sustainable consumption. Alongside, attitude towards eco-friendly products, perceived consumer effectiveness and sustainable consumption intention were found to be the second, third and fourth ranked driving forces, respectively. The authors hope and anticipate that the findings of this paper will give critical information to relevant authorities and policymakers in order to develop market research and management policies and strategies.

A web-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 1072 Bangladeshi young adults to identify the prevalence and correlates of depressive symptoms due to COVID-19 pandemic. The 9-item patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) was used to measure depressive symptoms. Kruskal-Wallis H test and ordered logistic regression were employed to identify the drivers correlated with the levels of depressive symptoms. The estimated prevalence rates of moderate to severe depressive symptoms were 54.1%. Older age, residing urban area, not having stable family income, having relatives or acquaintances infected with COVID-19, being worried about educational delays or jobs, having the disturbance of daily activities, and being worried about social support were significantly associated with the levels of depressive symptoms among Bangladeshi young adults due to COVID-19 pandemic.
