Differences of Sex Development (DSD) comprise a variety of congenital conditions characterized by atypical chromosomal, gonadal, or anatomical sex. Diagnosis and monitoring of treatment of patients suspected of DSD conditions include clinical examination, measurement of peptide and steroid hormones, and genetic analysis. This position paper on peptide hormone analyses in the diagnosis and control of patients with DSD was jointly prepared by specialists in the field of DSD and/or peptide hormone analys is from the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST) Action DSDnet (BM1303) and the European Reference Network on rare Endocrine Conditions (Endo-ERN). The goal of this position paper on peptide hormone analysis was to establish laboratory guidelines that may contribute to improve optimal diagnosis and treatment control of DSD. The essential peptide hormones used in the management of patients with DSD conditions are follicle-stimulating hormone, luteinising hormone, anti-Müllerian hormone, and Inhibin B. In this context, the following position statements have been proposed: serum and plasma are the preferred matrices; the peptide hormones can all be measured by immunoassay, while use of LC-MS/MS technology has yet to be implemented in a diagnostic setting; sex- and age-related reference values are mandatory in the evaluation of these hormones; and except for Inhibin B, external quality assurance programs are widely available.

Proust's À la recherche du temps perdu is written as an extended narrative/speech-act of memory. The paper considers the fugue poetics of Proust's act of writing transcendence performatively realised through multiple voices of selves in Lost Time, as manifestations of the musical and psychological meanings of fugue. The almost interchangeable mechanisms of time and space suggested by Bergson's notions of time as Ie temps and la durée and his related notion of élan vital, are discussed in relation to the contrapuntal mechanisms - or textual counterpoint - of Proust's novel contrasted to Deleuze's reading of Proust's Lost Time as "not simply 'time past'; it is also time wasted, lost track of' (Deleuze 2000, 3). The paper concludes that temps perdu articulates the conceptual space of Proust's writing contained and inscribed within the narrative text which is accessed, or capable of being accessed and set into motion by, and through, the writer's and reader's attention.

A manufacturing methods program establishing a molded plastic shim material for application to structural airframe components is described. A molding material was compounded that meets the application requirements on a Mach 2.5 aircraft. Design data, manufacturing techniques, and processing variables have been determined for this molded shim material. A commercially available material survey and the screening test are data on selected compounds included to define the ability of current materials to meet the established property criteria. A molded shim material was developed that has the desired properties for application as a molded surface to aluminum, steel, or titanium and provides dimensional control of aerospace structure. Experimental results on material properties at -65F up to 420F are shown; manufacturing methods are presented. The areas covered include compression, lap shear, thermal shock, lengthy exposure, cure temperature, injection methods, fastener considerations, drilling, cleaning procedures, and mold design. Simulated wing box structures of shimmed titanium weldments were fabricated, assembled, and tested to demonstrate the structural capabilities of molded shims as applied to structures required to maintain pressure and/or fuel tightness during vibration and torsional loading.
