Objective: Previous research has found women who experience eight or more Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) are 3.5 times as likely to be victims of adult IPV. This study examined the relationship between ACEs and IPV (physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and stalking) among college students., Participants: This study was conducted among undergraduate students (N = 2,900) at two large, non-profit, public universities in the United States., Methods: Students completed a web-based survey addressing self-reported ACEs and violence that occurred within the current academic year. Chi-square tests and logistic regression models were used to evaluate the relationship between ACEs and violence., Results: College students with higher ACE scores were more likely to experience violence. Students with ACE scores of four or higher were between 1.9-4.9 times more likely to experience violence. A dose response relationship was found between ACE score and experiences of violence., Conclusions: Campus violence prevention programs may benefit from incorporating discussion of ACEs into programing.

A survey of hospital antimicrobial stewardship programs was performed to validate core element achievement data from the National Healthcare Safety Network's (NHSN) Patient Safety Component Annual Survey. In total, 89% of hospitals met all 7 core elements, compared to only 68% according to the NHSN survey.

We report a case of orthotopic liver transplantation, in which portal vein thrombosis developed in the immediate postoperative period. Surgical thrombectomy and intraoperative placement of a large caliber Wallstent resulted in long-term patency. The unique feature of this case is the intraoperative placement of the stent via the inferior mesenteric vein under fluoroscopic guidance. The use of a large caliber (16 mm) stent obviated the need for postoperative anticoagulation.

Choledochal cysts have generally been described to communicate with the biliary system. We recently saw three adult patients in whom we could not demonstrate biliary communication between the cyst and the biliary tree, despite a carefully performed endoscopic cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). These cases may represent a variant of type II choledochal cysts. During the 5-year period of review of ERCP records, 30 choledochal cysts were diagnosed, of which 3 (10%) were the noncommunicating cases described in this report.
