Magnetic hybrids with exceptional magnetic and optical properties have emerged as promising materials for diverse applications. In the present work, magnetite (Fe3O4)-functionalized graphene oxide (GO) was synthesized using a facile in situ coprecipitation synthesis method. The in situ formation of Fe3O4 nanoparticles in the presence of GO led to the self-assembly of GO sheets into nanoscrolls. The structural and morphological properties of the nanoscrolls were evaluated. The optical properties were studied using UV-Vis absorbance spectroscopy. Magnetic response assessment by vibrating sample magnetometer confirmed that Fe3O4–GONS had a good superparamagnetic property with maximum saturation magnetization of 54.4 (± 0.5) emu gm−1. The superparamagnetic blocking temperature of the FGO 1 sample was evaluated by temperature-dependent magnetization studies. The in vitro cytotoxicity of the prepared nanocomposites was investigated using an MTT (3-(4,5-dimethylthiazol-2-yl)-2,5-diphenyl tetrazolium bromide) assay on a fibroblast L929 cell line. The cell viability studies reveal that all the Fe3O4–GO nanohybrids exhibit excellent cell viability (above 80%) compared to that of the control sample. It is worth noting that the magnetic functionalization of GO with Fe3O4 and the scroll structure is a way to enhance the biocompatibility. The present study reports the fabrication of hybrid nanoparticles consisting of nickel ferrite (NFO) for anti cancer drug delivery. The hybrid system was formulated from poly(vinyl alcohol)/stearic acid with PEG containing nickel ferrite for zidovudine (AZT) delivery. The nickel ferrite nanoparticles were characterized by XRD and TEM analysis. The hybrid nanoparticles were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and their influence on biological systems was evaluated by blood compatibility and cell viability studies. The encapsulation of AZT into the hybrid nanoparticles was assessed by evaluating the drug loading, encapsulation efficiency and release studies. The advantages of incorporating magnetic nanoparticles into self-assembled hybrid nanoparticles include the ability to load large amounts of drugs along with control over drug release. In this regard, the presented nickel ferrite reinforced hybrid nanoparticles containing zidovudine is a demanding platform that can act in a pH responsive manner enabling site specific intracellular anticancer drug delivery. Room temperature multiferroicity was achieved in CuO-doped Sr3Bi4Ti6O21 (SBT6) lead-free bismuth layered structure ferroelectric ceramics. On addition of CuO, a feeble magnetization with highest saturation magnetization of ~ 3 memu/g and least coercivity of 676 Oe was obtained for x = 0.5 mol% sample. The effect of magnetic field on the ferroelectric properties was investigated, which reveals the presence of magnetoelectric (ME) coupling indirectly and the maximum remnant polarization of 12.16 μC/cm2 at 1 kOe was obtained. Moreover, from direct measurements (ME studies), coupling between ferromagnetic and ferroelectric phases was also achieved at room temperature. Further, the presence of feeble ME effect decreases upon increasing CuO doping concentration, especially at higher doping concentration. The induced spontaneous magnetization, oxygen vacancies and strong magnetic superexchange interaction of CuO played a key role in achieving room temperature multiferroicity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Still more precise and concise research studies have yet to come in the areas of energy storage, harvesting, energy conversion, etc. In line with this, we have synthesized and analyzed PVDF-TrFE based nanocomposites of both functionalized and non-functionalized BaTiO3 (BTO). All the samples were prepared as free standing films by employing a solvent cast method. A systematic study of structural, morphological, thermal, dielectric, ferroelectric, piezoelectric and magnetoelectric (ME) properties has been carried out. It has been reported that the addition of BTO nanoparticles (with and without functionalization) into a polymer matrix substantially improved the properties of the nanocomposite. By performing the above mentioned characterization, it could be proved that dopamine functionalized BTO (DBTO) samples are better choices for the above mentioned applications including magnetoelectric applications, than the non-functionalized ones.
