Salmon, a luxury aquatic species, has seen a steady increase in imports in China. The rapid development of the Internet, the transformation of consumption behaviour, and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic have prompted consumers to purchase salmon products from e-commerce platforms in China. In this context, understanding salmon import trends and consumer satisfaction with salmon e-commerce is critical to promoting and sustaining sales of salmon products through e-commerce platforms. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the import trend analysis of salmon in China as well as understand factors influencing consumer satisfaction with salmon e-commerce. We analysed 10,064 consumer comments out of 25,763 for this study after resampling the proportion of positive/negative comments. Sentiment analyser, Textblob, classified 65.2 % of consumer comments as positive, 21.7 % as negative, and 13.1 % as neutral. Additionally, Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) topic modelling identified five areas critical for satisfaction with salmon e-commerce: purchase decision (19.5 % of the comments), eating experience (22.3 %), service quality and delivery (20.6 %), purchase history (17.5 %), and general product quality (20 %). Our findings indicate that service quality and delivery are the most critical factors affecting consumer satisfaction, whereas purchase history has the least impact. Consumers’ PLUS membership profile, salmon product style, and preservation form had a significant influence on consumer satisfaction, while the country of origin, weight and price of the product had no significant influence. Salmon e-commerce platforms need to improve logistic service and delivery quality to influence consumer satisfaction.

Background:. Brief alcohol interventions use patient-provider communication to promote alcohol cessation. We characterized the receipt of this intervention in chronic liver disease (CLD). Methods:. We surveyed patients with CLD for weekly drinking patterns and examined associations with patient-provider communication receipt. Results:. Among 840 participants, 82.1% and 56.5% reported ≥1 standard drink weekly and excessive alcohol consumption, respectively. Patient-provider communication was lower in noncirrhotic (adjusted odds ratio:0.34, 95% CI: 0.22–0.54) and nonalcohol-associated CLD (adjusted odds ratio: 0.22, 95% CI: 0.15–0.34) among individuals drinking ≥1 standard drink weekly, and similarly in noncirrhotic CLD (adjusted odds ratio: 0.45, 95% CI: 0.21–0.95) among those with excessive drinking. Conclusions:. Brief alcohol interventions are underutilized in noncirrhotic and nonalcohol-associated CLD.

IntroductionMeat- and seafood products close to their expiry date (MSPCED) are one of the significant contributors to the growing food waste. Therefore, this study aims to investigate consumers’ attitudes and willingness to buy MSPCED.MethodsAn online questionnaire was used to collect data from 400 Danish consumers.Results and discussionThree consumer segments were identified based on their willingness to buy MSPCED: 39.8% of the participants showed a high willingness to buy MSPCED close to their expiry date (“All High”), 34.5% were selective with a high willingness to buy meat close to their expiry date but not seafood (“High meat, low seafood”), while 25.7% showed a low willingness to buy MSPCED (“All Low”). Consumers’ willingness to buy MSPCED is influenced by the perceived quality of the products, food safety, social acceptability, and price. Consumers were willing to pay a higher price for minced beef close to the expiry date when compared to cod fillets, pork cuts, and chicken breasts. However, consumers were willing to buy cod fillets with the lowest discount percentage when compared to pork cuts, minced beef, and chicken breast. The findings suggest that price reduction and discount percentage can have varying effects in influencing willingness to pay for MSPCED. This study provides valuable insights, for food waste practitioners in the retail sector, to develop effective strategies for reducing food waste by influencing consumer willingness to buy and pay for perishable products like meat and seafood.

China, as the world’s largest producer, trader, and consumer of aquatic foods, lacks comprehensive research on consumption patterns and willingness to pay for sustainable aquatic food. This study addressed this gap through an online survey of 3403 participants across Chinese provinces. A majority of consumers (34.7% of the participants) consume aquatic food twice or more per week, mainly from traditional markets (26%). Most prefer fresh or live products (76%), with 42% seeing no difference between farmed and wild options. Consumption is higher among older, affluent, urban, and coastal residents. Crustaceans, especially shrimp, are frequently consumed species, with growing interest in luxury species like salmon and abalone. Taste and quality emerge as the primary factors motivating consumer choices in aquatic food purchases. Food safety is the primary concern, followed by environmental impact. Notably, 92.4% of participants would pay extra for certified products. Factors influencing a higher willingness to pay include higher income, inland residence, price sensitivity, origin consciousness, and concerns about food safety and the environment. The findings highlight that China’s aquatic food industry and consumption can become more sustainable by aligning with consumer preferences for high-quality and diverse aquatic food through both production and import, while also addressing concerns related to food safety and environmental impact. This research provides valuable insights into China’s rapidly transforming aquatic food market landscape, offering implications for industry innovation and the promotion of sustainable consumption patterns.

"Ball valve thrombus" which is a spherical free-floating clot in left atrium is an often quoted, but uncommonly encountered complication in patients with severe mitral stenosis of rheumatic origin, who are in atrial fibrillation. We describe the case of a 48-year-old man with rheumatic heart disease, severe mitral stenosis, and severe aortic regurgitation. The patient presented with an episode of non-exertional syncope resulting in CVA 1 month back and breathlessness on exertion of 6 months duration and was in normal sinus rhythm. Echocardiography facilitated ante-mortem diagnosis and prompt institution of surgery was lifesaving.

Seaweed in dairy cow feed reduces methane emissions and enhances milk quality, providing a sustainable solution with the potential to boost sales in the climate-friendly market. This study aims to explore the market potential for this differentiated product, focusing on consumers' willingness to pay and examining how knowledge, attitudes, price, and taste toward climate-friendly products influence their purchasing intentions. The study was conducted using online surveys, with data collected from 428 participants in Denmark. The survey data were analysed using Covariance-based Structural Equation Modelling to identify predictors of purchase intentions. Results indicate that consumer attitudes and perceived taste were the strongest predictors of intentions to buy seaweed-fed cow's milk, while knowledge and price did not significantly influence purchase intentions. Additionally, knowledge significantly and negatively moderated the relationship between attitude and intention. Although taste did not significantly affect attitude, the price had a significant negative impact on attitude. On average, consumers were willing to pay 7.4 Danish Kroner (€0.99) more for seaweed-fed cow milk than for regular milk. The study concludes that introducing seaweed-fed milk is both feasible and commercially promising. By focusing on positive consumer attitudes, superior taste, and environmental benefits, dairy producers can effectively market this differentiated food product.

Objective: Axillary and innominate artery (IA) cannulation using side graft has some limitations in patients having ascending aortic dissection (AAD) with flap extending in major neck vessels. We retrospectively analyzed the outcomes of a direct under vision innominate ostial cannulation strategy for antegrade cerebral perfusion (ACP) using a retrograde balloon-tip cardioplegia cannula. Patients and Methods: This was a retrospective analysis of all patients who were operated on for AAD with a dissection flap extending into major neck vessels between November 01, 2020 and November 30, 2022. Demographic data were noted, and comorbidities were listed. The kind of surgery patients underwent was noted: three patients underwent modified Bentall's procedure, five had to ascend aortic replacement, and one patient underwent David's procedure. All patients had open distal anastomosis using moderate hypothermia with ACP by direct under vision cannulation of the true lumen of the IA using a balloon-tip retrograde cardioplegia cannula. Intraoperative parameters such as cross-clamp time, cardiopulmonary bypass time, temperature range during circulatory arrest, and total operative time were noted. The primary outcome was a comparison of the incidence of stroke, seizures, and psychosis and the secondary outcome was an analysis of end-organ malperfusion, intensive care unit (ICU) stays, total hospital stay, and 30-day mortality. Results: We retrospectively analyzed the surgical data of nine patients who were operated on between November 01, 2020 and November 20, 2022 by this technique and found that the incidence of stroke, seizures organ malperfusion, ICU stay, and hospital stay was comparable to other techniques of ACP (axillary artery/direct IA cannulation), but the operative time was a less, and local complications due to axillary cannulation such as shoulder pain and upper limb weakness and seroma were not seen. Conclusion: Direct vision cannulation of the true lumen of the IA using a retrograde balloon-tip cannula is a cost-effective and time-saving method. It evades the limitations of well-established ACP techniques such as direct IA cannulation using Seldinger's technique which is a blind procedure and also has no local complications of the cannulating right axillary artery. Our results show that this procedure is less time-consuming and is noninferior to the other two methods of ACP in patients getting operated on for AAD with open distal anastomosis under moderate hypothermia. Further studies with a larger sample size are needed to validate this preliminary study.

Objective: The minimally invasive right thoracotomy approach is being increasingly used for aortic valve surgeries. It has several benefits in terms of decreased blood loss and length of hospital stay as compared to conventional sternotomy technique. Selected patients requiring aortic root and ascending aorta surgery can be operated on using a similar approach. In this case series, we share the outcomes of Bentall surgery done through right mini-thoracotomy. Methods: This was a single-center retrospective study of five patients who underwent elective right mini-thoracotomy modified Bentall Procedure. Instruments routinely used in minimally invasive cardiac surgery were used. The outcomes that were evaluated include cross-clamp times, cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) times, time to extubation, total length of intensive care unit (ICU) and hospital stay, re-exploration rates, and inhospital and 30-day mortality. Results: The mean CPB times and cross-clamp times were 128 and 96 min, respectively. The total circulatory arrest was used in two patients with a mean time of 12 min. The mean time to extubation was 7 h. The mean ICU stay and the total length of hospital stay were 1.5 and 5 days, respectively. No patient required re-exploration for bleeding. We did not have any inhospital or 30-day mortality. Conclusion: The right mini-thoracotomy modified Bentall procedure is reproducible and safe in selected patients with annuloaortic ectasia.

In this study, different input parameters for electric discharge machining (EDM) are examined in order to revise the distinctiveness of EDM for machining aluminum-based hybrid metal matrix composites (MMCs). The versatility of hybrid aluminum MMCs makes them very popular and sought after in the automotive, aerospace, marine, and space industries. In this article, an optimized process parameter setting for hybrid MCCs machining with an EDM machine is determined that have silicon carbide (SiCp) and graphite (Grp) particles added as reinforcement materials in varying amounts (Al–0.7Fe–0.6Si–0.375Cr–0.25Zn/10 wt%SiC/3 wt%Gr–MMC, Al–0.7Fe–0.6Si–0.375Cr–0.25Zn/15 wt%SiC/5 wt%Gr–MMC, and Al–0.7Fe–0.6Si–0.373Cr–0.25Zn/20 wt%SiC/8 wt%Gr–MMC). The stir casting method was used to prepare these hybrid aluminum MMCs (3 samples). A study of surface roughness (SR) and material removal rate (MRR) was conducted to examine the effects of dominant parameters. An experiment is planned using a central composite rotatable design (CCRD) of response surface methodology (RSM). It is possible to predict MRR and SR with 95% degree of accuracy by utilizing the quadratic model. Non-dominating Sorting Genetic Algorithm-II was employed to solve “mathematical models” for multi-objective optimization of output response characteristics. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) images of the tool and workpiece materials show that the recast layer has been formed on the tool face and the surface of the machined work-piece. Based on the results, it was determined that an optimal value of MRR (2.97 g·min−1) was obtained at 90 µs, 30 µs, 7.0 V, and 14 A as P on, P off, gap voltage, and peak current, respectively. As a result of the findings, the SR is reciprocally proportional to P on, and the SR is commensurate with P off. It was determined that the optimal value of SR (2.41 µm) could be attained at 30 µs, 52 µs, 6.0 V, and 12 A as the P on, P off, gap voltage, and peak current, respectively. For an optimal set of response variables, P on can be specified as 30 µs, P off as 30 µs, gap voltage as 6 V, and peak current as 14 A as process parameters for MRR and SR. The SEM images of the tool material and the workpiece material clearly demonstrate a recast layer formed on the tool face and the machined surface of the workpiece. The optical microscopy analysis reveals a uniform distribution of SiCp and Grp particles in the Al–0.7Fe–0.6Si–0.375Cr–0.25Zn matrix. In addition to recast layers and machined surfaces, EDS analysis reveals the deposition of tool material on the surface of the workpiece. The composites fabricated may replace materials in many of these applications where “friction” is a significant factor.

Application of hybrid nanofluid work as a performance booster of solar collector and also provide an opportunity of sustainable development of eco-friendly energy harvesting. The performance of Flat plate solar collector (FPSC) has been investigated experimentally at different combinations of flow rate, intensity of radiation and angle of inclination. The comparative performance analysis of FPSC with two different working fluids i.e. distilled water and Cu-MWCNT hybrid nanofluid have also been made. The best combination of the operating parameters has been identified for performance optimization. The mathematical co-relations between the efficiency of the FPSC with the operational parameters has also been studied. Contribution in prevention of greenhouse gases emission also calculated along with energy saving. Carbon credit contribution also identified for the used solar collector. The efficiency of operation with hybrid nanofluid as working fluid was better compared to the distilled Water. Hybrid nanofluids provided higher rise in temperature as well as the useful energy gain compared to the distilled water. The flow rate was identified as dominant factor for efficiency. The efficiency of the collector was a linear function with reduced temperature. Higher efficiencies were achieved at higher flow rates with minimum inclination angle.

Abstract A large amount of materials science knowledge is generated and stored as text published in peer-reviewed scientific literature. While recent developments in natural language processing, such as Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) models, provide promising information extraction tools, these models may yield suboptimal results when applied on materials domain since they are not trained in materials science specific notations and jargons. Here, we present a materials-aware language model, namely, MatSciBERT, trained on a large corpus of peer-reviewed materials science publications. We show that MatSciBERT outperforms SciBERT, a language model trained on science corpus, and establish state-of-the-art results on three downstream tasks, named entity recognition, relation classification, and abstract classification. We make the pre-trained weights of MatSciBERT publicly accessible for accelerated materials discovery and information extraction from materials science texts.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) create various security threats such as application variance in different sectors along with the model of cryptographic primitive and necessity. Although modernistic evolution, the skillful utilization of Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) for WSNs is a very progressive investigation topic and approaches to reduce the time and intensity cost. Security of ECC commits on the hardness of the Elliptic Curve Discrete Logarithm Problem. Many elliptic curve standards are available such as ANSI X9.62, NIST FIPS 186-2 etc. Due to some drawback in NIST curves associated with security matters, it is important to investigate for secure alternatives. In our work, we will select ED_25519 (Edwards curve) at the 128-bit security level and contrast it with Weierstraß curve (also known as Weierstrass curve). To complete the field-calculation functions we utilize a radix-2^4 , which illustrates the operands with MoTE-ECC for Memsics MICAz motes over Optimal Prime Fields (OPFs) of variable size, e.g. 160, 192, 224, 225 bits. We take ECDH (Elliptic-curve DiffieHellman) key interchange among two nodes as well as every node needs two scalar multiplications to execute. Abstract Conservation agriculture (CA), which encompasses minimum soil disturbance, residue retention either through crop residue, or cover crops and crop diversification-based crop management practices can modify the status of pest dynamics and activities under the changing climatic scenarios. CA has been advocated extensively to optimize the use of available resources, maintain the environmental quality, enhance crop productivity, and reduce the climate change impacts. Information related to the impacts of long-term CA-production systems under rice-based cropping systems on pest status is lacking, particularly in middle Indo-Gangetic Plains (MIGP). Under CA, puddling is completely avoided, and rice is directly sown or transplanted to maintain better soil health. Different sets of experimentations including farmers practice, partial CA and full CA (CA) as treatments in rice-based cropping systems, were established from 2009, 2015 and 2016 to understand the long-term impacts of CA on pest dynamics. In this study, direct and indirect effects of tillage (zero, reduced and conventional tillage), residue retention and cropping sequences on abundance and damage by pests were investigated. After 4–5 years of experimentation, populations of oriental armyworm [Mythinma (Leucania) (Pseudaletia) separata (Wlk.)] in wheat, mealybug [Brevennia rehi (Lindinger)] and bandicoot rat [Bandicota bengalensis (Gray)] in rice were found to increase abnormally in CA-based production systems. Conventionally tilled plots had a significant negative effect while residue load in zero-tilled plots had a significant positive effect on larval population build-up of M. separata. Zero tillage had a higher infestation of mealybug (52–91% infested hills) that used grassy weeds (Echinochloa colona, Echinochloa crusgalli, Cynodon dactylon, Leptochloa chinensis and Panicum repense) as alternate hosts. Cropping sequences and no disturbance of soil and grassy weeds had higher live burrow counts (4.2 and 13.7 burrows as compared to 1.47 and 7.53 burrows per 62.5 m2 during 2019–2020 and 2020–2021, respectively) and damaged tillers (3.4%) in CA-based practices. Based on the present study, pest management strategies in CA need to be revisited with respect to tillage, residue retention on soil surface, grassy weeds in field and cropping sequences to deliver the full benefits of CA in MIGP to achieve the sustainable development goals under the climate change scenarios.

IntroductionSilver (Ag) nanoparticles (NPs) are well documented for their broad-spectrum bactericidal effects. This study aimed to test the effect of bioactive Ag-hydrosol NPs on drug-resistant E. faecium 1449 strain and explore the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for automated detection of the bacteria.MethodsThe formation of E. faecium 1449 biofilms in the absence and presence of Ag-hydrosol NPs at different concentrations ranging from 12.4 mg/L to 123 mg/L was evaluated using a 3-dimentional culture system. The biofilm reduction was evaluated using the confocal microscopy in addition to the Transmission Electronic Microscopy (TEM) visualization and spectrofluorimetric quantification using a Biotek Synergy Neo2 microplate reader. The cytotoxicity of the NPs was evaluated in human nasal epithelial cells using the MTT assay. The AI technique based on Fast Regional Convolutional Neural Network architecture was used for the automated detection of the bacteria.ResultsTreatment with Ag-hydrosol NPs at concentrations ranging from 12.4 mg/L to 123 mg/L resulted in 78.09% to 95.20% of biofilm reduction. No statistically significant difference in biofilm reduction was found among different batches of Ag-hydrosol NPs. Quantitative concentration-response relationship analysis indicated that Ag-hydrosol NPs exhibited a relative high anti-biofilm activity and low cytotoxicity with an average EC50 and TC50 values of 0.0333 and 6.55 mg/L, respectively, yielding an average therapeutic index value of 197. The AI-assisted TEM image analysis allowed automated detection of E. faecium 1449 with 97% ~ 99% accuracy.DiscussionConclusively, the bioactive Ag-hydrosol NP is a promising nanotherapeutic agent against drug-resistant pathogens. The AI-assisted TEM image analysis was developed with the potential to assess its treatment effect.

ObjectiveTo establish effective methods of obesity prevention among young adults, we analyzed the relationship between obesity-related food intake and metabolic factors in Japanese university students.MethodsWe performed a cross-sectional analysis of nutrient intake information and metabolic parameters among 1,206 Gifu University students categorized by body mass index.ResultsThe overweight/obesity rate was significantly higher in males. Additionally, among males, the intake of protein, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, all lipids/fats, and all metabolic parameters including blood sugar, hemoglobin A1c, uric acid, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, low-density lipoprotein, high-density lipoprotein, triglycerides, and blood pressure significantly differed between the obese and non-obese groups. However, the same comparison among females revealed no significant differences in nutrient intake and significant differences in only half of the parameters. Among males, energy intake from protein and fat was significantly higher in the obese group, while the percentage of total energy intake from carbohydrates and fat was lower and higher, respectively, among females in the obese group.ConclusionsOvereating of protein and fat in males and unbalanced nutrition in females are sex-specific characteristics of Japanese university students with obesity, and metabolic abnormalities in students with obesity are more remarkable in males than in females.

ObjectiveTo assess the change in the level of educational inequality and the contribution of social factors and demographic factors.Data sourceThree rounds of National Sample Survey viz. 64th (2007–2008), 71st (2014), and 75th (2017-2018) have been used.MethodsEducation Gini is used to study the extent of educational inequality over the time period. Decomposition method is used for "within-group" and “between group” inequality. Tobit regression model is utilized to study factors influencing average years of schooling (AYS). Finally, regression-based Shapley decomposition method is used to identify factors contributing in educational inequality.ResultsThe level of AYS has improved over the period and reached to 7.7 years in 2018. Further, the level of educational inequality gone down between 2007 and 2018, but the Gini indices are still concentrated around 38%. Decomposition of the Gini and Shapley regression approach indicates that the within-group component and rural-urban division contribute the most to educational inequality. Tobit model signifies that digital exposure, household occupation, wealth quintile, and household size play a key role in determining educational attainment.ConclusionThe paper underscores the improvement of education in rural areas by focusing on school infrastructure, e-learning, educational quality, and parent involvement.

AbstractTask-oriented dialog (TOD) systems often need to formulate knowledge base (KB) queries corresponding to the user intent and use the query results to generate system responses. Existing approaches require dialog datasets to explicitly annotate these KB queries—these annotations can be time consuming, and expensive. In response, we define the novel problems of predicting the KB query and training the dialog agent, without explicit KB query annotation. For query prediction, we propose a reinforcement learning (RL) baseline, which rewards the generation of those queries whose KB results cover the entities mentioned in subsequent dialog. Further analysis reveals that correlation among query attributes in KB can significantly confuse memory augmented policy optimization (MAPO), an existing state of the art RL agent.To address this, we improve the MAPO baseline with simple but important modifications suited to our task. To train the full TOD system for our setting, we propose a pipelined approach: it independently predicts when to make a KB query (query position predictor), then predicts a KB query at the predicted position (query predictor), and uses the results of predicted query in subsequent dialog (next response predictor). Overall, our work proposes first solutions to our novel problem, and our analysis highlights the research challenges in training TOD systems without query annotation.

Abstract Background Cerebrospinal fluid from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis patients (ALS-CSF) induces neurodegenerative changes in motor neurons and gliosis in sporadic ALS models. Search for identification of toxic factor(s) in CSF revealed an enhancement in the level and enzyme activity of chitotriosidase (CHIT-1). Here, we have investigated its upregulation in a large cohort of samples and more importantly its role in ALS pathogenesis in a rat model. Methods CHIT-1 level in CSF samples from ALS (n = 158), non-ALS (n = 12) and normal (n = 48) subjects were measured using ELISA. Enzyme activity was also assessed (ALS, n = 56; non-ALS, n = 10 and normal-CSF, n = 45). Recombinant CHIT-1 was intrathecally injected into Wistar rat neonates. Lumbar spinal cord sections were stained for Iba1, glial fibrillary acidic protein and choline acetyl transferase to identify microglia, astrocytes and motor neurons respectively after 48 h of injection. Levels of tumour necrosis factor-α and interleukin-6 were measured by ELISA. Findings CHIT-1 level in ALS-CSF samples was increased by 20-fold and it can distinguish ALS patients with a sensitivity of 87% and specificity of 83.3% at a cut off level of 1405.43 pg/ml. Enzyme activity of CHIT-1 was also 15-fold higher in ALS-CSF and has a sensitivity of 80.4% and specificity of 80% at cut off value of 0.1077989 μmol/μl/min. Combining CHIT-1 level and activity together gave a positive predictive value of 97.78% and negative predictive value of 100%. Administration of CHIT-1 increased microglial numbers and astrogliosis in the ventral horn with a concomitant increase in the levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines. Amoeboid-shaped microglial and astroglial cells were also present around the central canal. CHIT-1 administration also resulted in the reduction of motor neurons. Conclusions CHIT-1, an early diagnostic biomarker of sporadic ALS, activates glia priming them to attain a toxic phenotype resulting in neuroinflammation leading to motor neuronal death.

Background: The role of post mastectomy radiation therapy (PMRT) in patients with N1mic breast cancer has not been well defined. A retrospective analysis was performed using the SEER database to evaluate the impact of PMRT on survival in patients with N1mic breast cancer. Materials and methods: Women with T1-T2, N1mic, M0 breast cancer who had undergone mastectomy were analyzed. Descriptive statistics were calculated for all variables. Univariate analysis to assess for differences in survival with respect to covariates was performed using the log rank test while multivariate analysis was performed with Cox proportional hazards regression. Abstract Poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitors represent one of the successful novel approaches to targeted cancer treatment. Indeed, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved PARP inhibitors for the treatment of breast and ovarian cancers. Despite the proven efficacy of these agents, certain challenges remain with their use. Among the most important are primary and secondary resistance. Here, we review the mechanism of action of PARP inhibitors and their ability to exploit certain inherent deficiencies among malignant cells to improve cell killing, with a focus on deficiencies in homologous recombination among cells with BRCA1 and BRCA2 mutations. Moreover, we discuss the different mechanisms of resistance including development of secondary resistance and strategies to overcome them. Finally, we discuss the limitations of novel therapeutic interventions and possible future studies to exploit biochemical pathways in order to improve therapeutic efficacy of PARP inhibitors.

The agricultural sector is an important part of the Indian economy. The sector is challenged by various stresses, leading to huge loss in crop productivity globally and disturbs agricultural sustainability. Abiotic stresses (drought and salinity) are among the foremost ecological factors that hinder agricultural productivity globally. Several ecological stresses generate excess amounts of reactive oxygen species (ROS) either singly or in combination, leading to impaired redox homeostasis, causing oxidative stress thereby affecting the physiology of the plant. It further damages crop yields, affecting other bio-molecules, and hormones concerning development. Therefore, sustainable and climate-smart agriculture (CSA) that uses plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) is essential to fulfilling the demand. Various plant growth-promoting microbes (PGPM) have vast metabolic capabilities to alleviate the adverse effect of abiotic stresses. Herein we elaborate the effect of plant-microbe interaction on abiotic stress and several strategies adopted by PGPR to cope-up these stresses and help the crop to sustain its productivity thereby mitigating the loss. By highlighting plant-microbe interactions in this chapter, we provide a roadmap for the community to use beneficial microorganisms to improve crop productivity. Further, the relationship between abiotic stress, PGPR and plant productivity is also described and summarizes the responses of abiotic stress in plants concerning molecular and biochemical mechanisms thereby mediating the drought and saline stress.

OBJECTIVES:. To describe the prevalence, associated risk factors, and outcomes of serious neurologic manifestations (encephalopathy, stroke, seizure, and meningitis/encephalitis) among patients hospitalized with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection. DESIGN:. Prospective observational study. SETTING:. One hundred seventy-nine hospitals in 24 countries within the Society of Critical Care Medicine Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study COVID-19 Registry. PATIENTS:. Hospitalized adults with laboratory-confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection. INTERVENTIONS:. None. RESULTS:. Of 16,225 patients enrolled in the registry with hospital discharge status available, 2,092 (12.9%) developed serious neurologic manifestations including 1,656 (10.2%) with encephalopathy at admission, 331 (2.0%) with stroke, 243 (1.5%) with seizure, and 73 (0.5%) with meningitis/encephalitis at admission or during hospitalization. Patients with serious neurologic manifestations of COVID-19 were older with median (interquartile range) age 72 years (61.0–81.0 yr) versus 61 years (48.0–72.0 yr) and had higher prevalence of chronic medical conditions, including vascular risk factors. Adjusting for age, sex, and time since the onset of the pandemic, serious neurologic manifestations were associated with more severe disease (odds ratio [OR], 1.49; p < 0.001) as defined by the World Health Organization ordinal disease severity scale for COVID-19 infection. Patients with neurologic manifestations were more likely to be admitted to the ICU (OR, 1.45; p < 0.001) and require critical care interventions (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation: OR, 1.78; p = 0.009 and renal replacement therapy: OR, 1.99; p < 0.001). Hospital, ICU, and 28-day mortality for patients with neurologic manifestations was higher (OR, 1.51, 1.37, and 1.58; p < 0.001), and patients had fewer ICU-free, hospital-free, and ventilator-free days (estimated difference in days, –0.84, –1.34, and –0.84; p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS:. Encephalopathy at admission is common in hospitalized patients with SARS-CoV-2 infection and is associated with worse outcomes. While serious neurologic manifestations including stroke, seizure, and meningitis/encephalitis were less common, all were associated with increased ICU support utilization, more severe disease, and worse outcomes.

OBJECTIVES:. To describe hospital variation in use of “guideline-based care” for acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) due to COVID-19. DESIGN:. Retrospective, observational study. SETTING:. The Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Discovery Viral Infection and RESPIRATORY ILLNESS UNIVERSAL STUDY COVID-19 REGISTRY. PATIENTS:. Adult patients with ARDS due to COVID-19 between February 15, 2020, and April 12, 2021. INTERVENTIONS:. Hospital-level use of “guideline-based care” for ARDS including low-tidal-volume ventilation, plateau pressure less than 30 cm H2O, and prone ventilation for a Pao2/Fio2 ratio less than 100. MEASUREMENTS AND MAIN RESULTS:. Among 1,495 adults with COVID-19 ARDS receiving care across 42 hospitals, 50.4% ever received care consistent with ARDS clinical practice guidelines. After adjusting for patient demographics and severity of illness, hospital characteristics, and pandemic timing, hospital of admission contributed to 14% of the risk-adjusted variation in “guideline-based care.” A patient treated at a randomly selected hospital with higher use of guideline-based care had a median odds ratio of 2.0 (95% CI, 1.1–3.4) for receipt of “guideline-based care” compared with a patient receiving treatment at a randomly selected hospital with low use of recommended therapies. Median-adjusted inhospital mortality was 53% (interquartile range, 47–62%), with a nonsignificantly decreased risk of mortality for patients admitted to hospitals in the highest use “guideline-based care” quartile (49%) compared with the lowest use quartile (60%) (odds ratio, 0.7; 95% CI, 0.3–1.9; p = 0.49). CONCLUSIONS:. During the first year of the COVID-19 pandemic, only half of patients received “guideline-based care” for ARDS management, with wide practice variation across hospitals. Strategies that improve adherence to recommended ARDS management strategies are needed.

Background Nepal has implemented the social health security program in certain health facilities to improve access to quality health services. The aim of the study is to understand the utilization pattern of social health security schemes and community’s perception of the social health security program. Method A descriptive cross-sectional mixed-method study was conducted among 300 households of Illam district who had enrolled in the social health security scheme. A multi-stage random sampling method was used. A semi-structured questionnaire was used to collect quantitative data whereas focus group discussions (FGDs) were conducted for qualitative data. Descriptive analysis, bivariate and multivariate analysis was done. FGDs were transcribed and thematic analysis was done. Findings The utilization rate of social health security scheme was 88.7%. Factors associated with the utilization of program included: presence of under-five children and chronic illness in households, sex and age group. Focus group discussion revealed that people were aware of social health insurance and pleased with program implemented by government. However, the hospitals under the social health insurance were not able to meet their expectations. Conclusion Although the utilization of social health security scheme was high, people were dissatisfied with the service provided by the hospital under the social health security scheme. Therefore, the social health insurance board should closely monitor the hospitals and develop a feedback mechanism from the users.

Coronary to pulmonary artery fistula is a rare form of congenital coronary artery anomaly. Majority of coronary arteriovenous fistula detected incidentally on coronary angiography. Although, most of these patients are asymptomatic, larger fistulae can produce symptoms of heart failure. Here we present a rare case of 61-year-old female who presented primarily for mitral valve replacement for severe mitral stenosis. On screening angiography, there were two fistula arising from both right and left coronary artery and draining in to the main pulmonary artery. The patient was operated and mitral valve replacement with closure of the fistula. Patient had an uneventful post-operative period and was discharged on 7 the post-operative day.

Food waste has received increasing attention over the last decade, owing to its economic, environmental, and social impacts. Much of the existing research has investigated consumers’ buying behaviour towards sub-optimal and upcycle food, but surplus meal buying behaviours are poorly understood. Thus, this study performed consumer segmentation through a modular food-related lifestyle (MFRL) instrument and determined consumers’ buying behaviour towards surplus meals in canteens employing the theory of reasoned action (TRA). A survey was conducted using a validated questionnaire from a convenient sample of 460 Danish canteen users. Four food-related lifestyle consumer segments were identified by employing k-means segmentation: Conservative (28%), Adventurous (15%), Uninvolved (12%), and Eco-moderate (45%). The Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) analysis indicated that attitudes and subjective norms were significantly influencing surplus meal buying intention to further influence buying behaviour. Environmental objective knowledge was significantly influencing environmental concerns to further influence attitudes and behavioural intention. However, environmental objective knowledge had no significant influence on attitude towards surplus meals. Male consumers with higher education, those having higher food responsibility and lower food involvement, and convenience scores had higher surplus food buying behaviour. The results can be used to inform policymakers, marketers, business professionals, and practitioners to promote surplus meals in canteens or similar settings.

Asia accounts for over 70% of total global aquatic food consumption, but aquatic food consumption behaviours and attitudes among Asian consumers are poorly documented and understood. This paper synthesises literature on factors influencing aquatic food consumption behaviour in Asia and the potential to support transitions toward more sustainable food consumption patterns. We identified 113 studies for inclusion in a scoping review, and identified five clusters of publications: (1) product attributes, availability, and accessibility (24% of publications); (2) willingness to pay for aquatic foods (25%); (3) psychosocial factors (e.g., attitudes and subjective norms) (17%); (4) sociodemographic and lifestyle factors (21%); and (5) miscellaneous factors, including food safety and social status (13%). This study indicates that multiple interacting factors influence aquatic food consumption behaviours among Asian consumers, among which price is central. Knowledge of, and attitudes toward, the perceived quality and safety of aquatic foods were identified as important but were mediated by household characteristics. Sustainable production practices, country of origin, and ecolabels were found to be less influential on consumption behaviour. We found that improving consumers’ knowledge and attitudes about the quality and safety of aquatic foods might positively influence aquatic food consumption behaviour. Future multidisciplinary research is required to better understand interactions among the multiple factors that influence Asian consumers’ aquatic food consumption behaviour.

IMPORTANCE:. At the start of the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic, medications repurposed for management of coronavirus disease 2019 were used in the absence of clinical trial evidence. OBJECTIVES:. To describe the variation and evolution in use of repurposed medications for coronavirus disease 2019. DESIGN, SETTING, AND PARTICIPANTS:. Observational cohort study of adults hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019 between February 15, 2020, and April 12, 2021, across 76 United States and international hospitals within the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Discovery Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study coronavirus disease 2019 registry. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES:. Hospital variation was quantified using multivariable adjusted random effects logistic regression models and unsupervised clustering. Repurposed medications included antivirals, corticosteroids, hydroxychloroquine, immunomodulators, and therapeutic dose anticoagulants. RESULTS:. Among 7,069 adults hospitalized with coronavirus disease 2019, 1,979 (28%) received antivirals, 2,876 (41%) received corticosteroids, 1,779 (25%) received hydroxychloroquine, 620 (9%) received immunomodulators, and 2,154 (31%) received therapeutic dose anticoagulants. Contribution of hospital site to risk-adjusted variation was 46% for antivirals, 30% for corticosteroids, 48% for hydroxychloroquine, 46% for immunomodulators, and 52% for therapeutic dose anticoagulants. Compared with the early pandemic, the later pandemic practice phenotypes converged with increased use of antivirals (odds ratio, 3.14; 95% CI, 2.40–4.10) and corticosteroids (odds ratio, 5.43; 95% CI, 4.23–6.97), with decreased use of hydroxychloroquine (odds ratio, 0.02; 95% CI, 0.01–0.04) and immunomodulators (odds ratio, 0.49; 95% CI, 0.34–0.70). There was no clinically significant change in the use of therapeutic dose anticoagulants (odds ratio, 1.01; 95% CI, 1.01–1.02). There were no differences in risk-adjusted mortality between hospitals with high rates of repurposed medication use compared with hospitals with low rates of use. CONCLUSIONS AND RELEVANCE:. Hospital variation in the use of repurposed medications varied widely across hospitals early in the pandemic and later converged with the emergence of randomized clinical trials. Platforms developed for rapid activation and enrollment in clinical trials of repurposed medications are needed prior to the next pandemic to expedite effective, evidence-based practice.

BackgroundShort instructional videos can make learning more efficient through the application of multimedia principles, and video animations can illustrate the complex concepts and dynamic processes that are common in health sciences education. Commercially produced videos are commonly used by medical students but are rarely integrated into curricula. ObjectiveOur goal was to examine student engagement with medical education videos incorporated into a preclinical Cardiovascular Systems course. MethodsStudents who took the first-year 8-week Cardiovascular Systems course in 2019 and 2020 were included in the study. Videos from Osmosis were recommended to be watched before live sessions throughout the course. Video use was monitored through dashboards, and course credit was given for watching videos. All students were emailed electronic surveys after the final exam asking about the course’s blended learning experience and use of videos. Osmosis usage data for number of video views, multiple choice questions, and flashcards were extracted from Osmosis dashboards. ResultsOverall, 232/359 (64.6%) students completed surveys, with rates by class of 81/154 (52.6%) for MD Class of 2022, 39/50 (78%) for MD/MPH Class of 2022, and 112/155 (72.3%) for MD Class of 2023. Osmosis dashboard data were available for all 359 students. All students received the full credit offered for Osmosis engagement, and learning analytics demonstrated regular usage of videos and other digital platform features. Survey responses indicated that most students found Osmosis videos to be helpful for learning (204/232, 87.9%; P=.001) and preferred Osmosis videos to the traditional lecture format (134/232, 57.8%; P

The advancement of biomedicine in a socioeconomically sustainable manner while achieving efficient patient-care is imperative to the health and well-being of society. Magnetic systems consisting of iron based nanosized components have gained prominence among researchers in a multitude of biomedical applications. This review focuses on recent trends in the areas of diagnostic imaging and drug delivery that have benefited from iron-incorporated nanosystems, especially in cancer treatment, diagnosis and wound care applications. Discussion on imaging will emphasise on developments in MRI technology and hyperthermia based diagnosis, while advanced material synthesis and targeted, triggered transport will be the focus for drug delivery. Insights onto the challenges in transforming these technologies into day-to-day applications will also be explored with perceptions onto potential for patient-centred healthcare.

IMPORTANCE:. Even with its proclivity for older age, coronavirus disease 2019 has been shown to affect all age groups. However, there remains a lack of research focused primarily on the young adult population. OBJECTIVES:. To describe the epidemiology and outcomes of coronavirus disease 2019 and identify the risk factors associated with critical illness and mortality in hospitalized young adults. DESIGN, SETTINGS, AND PARTICIPANTS:. A retrospective cohort study of the Society of Critical Care Medicine’s Viral Infection and Respiratory Illness Universal Study registry. Patients 18–40 years old, hospitalized from coronavirus disease 2019 from March 2020 to April 2021, were included in the analysis. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES:. Critical illness was defined as a composite of mortality and 21 predefined interventions and complications. Multivariable logistic regression was used to assess associations with critical illness and mortality. RESULTS:. Data from 4,005 patients (152 centers, 19 countries, 18.6% non-U.S. patients) were analyzed. The median age was 32 years (interquartile range, 27–37 yr); 51% were female, 29.4% Hispanic, and 42.9% had obesity. Most patients (63.2%) had comorbidities, the most common being hypertension (14.5%) and diabetes (13.7%). Hospital and ICU mortality were 3.2% (129/4,005) and 8.3% (109/1,313), respectively. Critical illness occurred in 25% (n = 996), and 34.3% (n = 1,376) were admitted to the ICU. Older age (p = 0.03), male sex (adjusted odds ratio, 1.83 [95% CI, 1.2–2.6]), and obesity (adjusted odds ratio, 1.6 [95% CI, 1.1–2.4]) were associated with hospital mortality. In addition to the above factors, the presence of any comorbidity was associated with critical illness from coronavirus disease 2019. Multiple sensitivity analyses, including analysis with U.S. patients only and patients admitted to high-volume sites, showed similar risk factors. CONCLUSIONS:. Among hospitalized young adults, obese males with comorbidities are at higher risk of developing critical illness or dying from coronavirus disease 2019.

Background: Adequate intake of vegetables facilitates a healthy lifestyle. However, the majority of Nepalese young adults consume inadequate amount of vegetables per day.Objectives: We explored psychosocial determinants of daily intake of two or more servings of vegetables among Nepalese young adults using attitude, social influence, and self-efficacy (ASE) as a theoretical framework, extended with measures of habit and self-identity as additional constructs.Methods/Participants: A cross-sectional study through a web-based questionnaire survey was conducted among 461 Nepalese young adults aged 18–35 years old. Participants were recruited through convenience (snowball) sampling. A factor-based partial least square structural equation modelling was used for analysis.Results: The findings indicated that attitudes (β = 0.09, p = 0.029), social influence (β = 0.17, p < 0.001), habit (β = 0.24, p < 0.001) and self-identity (β = 0.30, p < 0.001) were significant factors influencing intention to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day. Further, self-efficacy (β = 0.10, p = 0.011), habit (β = 0.08, p = 0.034), diet (β = −0.10, p = 0.014), and place of residence (β = 0.11, p = 0.007) significantly influenced behaviour to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day. However, self-efficacy (β = 0.07, p = 0.062) did not significantly influence intention and self-identity (β = 0.06, p = 0.083), age (β = −0.02, p = 0.328), gender (β = 0.02, p = 0.350), and body mass index (β = −0.04, p = 0.209) did not significantly influence behaviour to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day.Conclusion: The study shows that attitudes, social influence, habit, and self-identity were significant factors influencing intention to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day. Further, self-efficacy and habit significantly influenced behaviour to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day. However, self-efficacy did not significantly influence intention and self-identity did not significantly influence behaviour to eat two or more servings of vegetables per day.

Objective To assess the effect of unintended births on preventive and curative care of children and their nutritional status.Design The study uses a cross-sectional prospective design.Setting Indian Human Development Survey (IHDS) data of two rounds were used in this study. Women data file was used to draw a representative sample of 3905 children who belong to under 5 years of age group.Statistical analyses We categorised birth as an unintended birth if the mother did not want to have an additional child at IHDS-I but gave birth during the intersurvey. Furthermore, all births exceeding to the desired number of children reported by mothers in the IHDS-II were also included in unintended births. Multivariate logistic regression models were applied to analyse the effect of unintended births on child immunisation and exclusive breast feeding, while multivariate linear regression models were used to assess the effect of childbearing intention on child nutritional status.Results The study shows that by controlling other factors, children from unintended births were less likely to be exclusively breast fed (OR 0.885, 95% CI 0.792 to 0.990, p

Objective Glottic keratosis poses a challenge because a decision to biopsy must weigh the likelihood of dysplasia and cancer against the voice outcome after biopsy. We determined the significance of laryngoscopic findings and agreement among clinicians to identify those specific findings. Study Design Retrospective case-control study. Setting Tertiary care university hospital. Methods Adults with glottic keratosis with preoperative office laryngoscopies were included. Preoperative videostroboscopies were reviewed by a blinded reviewer. Multivariable logistic regression was used to examine the correlation between laryngoscopic appearance of glottic keratosis and presence or absence of high-grade dysplasia or carcinoma on biopsies. Consensus among head and neck cancer surgeons to detect specific laryngoscopic findings was evaluated by presenting representative laryngoscopies to a blinded cohort. Interrater reliability was calculated using Fleiss’s κ. Results Sixty glottic keratotic lesions met inclusion criteria. On logistic regression, both erythroplakia and aberrant microvasculature like vascular speckling were significantly associated with high-grade dysplasia and carcinoma, P = .002 and P = .03, respectively. Interrater reliability among clinicians to identify erythroplakia and aberrant microvasculature was minimal, κ = 0.35 and κ = 0.29, respectively. Interrater reliability was improved with the use of virtual chromoendoscopy. Conclusion The presence of erythroplakia and aberrant microvasculature in glottic keratosis is associated with the presence of high-grade dysplasia or carcinoma. Virtual chromoendoscopy can be used to improve reliability for detecting erythroplakia and vascular speckling, and this is a potential area for practice-based learning. Clinicians should identify and consider immediate diagnostic biopsy of suspicious glottic keratosis.

Background: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is associated with increased risk of sudden cardiac death (SCD), particularly in patients with heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF). However, there are no known biomarkers in the population with DM and HFpEF to predict SCD risk.Objectives: This study was designed to test the hypothesis that osteopontin (OPN) and some proteins previously correlated with OPN, low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR), dynamin 2 (DNM2), fibronectin-1 (FN1), and 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase-like (OGDHL), are potential risk markers for SCD, and may reflect modifiable molecular pathways in patients with DM and HFpEF.Methods: Heart tissues were obtained at autopsy from 9 SCD victims with DM and HFpEF and 10 age and gender-matched accidental death control subjects from a Finnish SCD registry and analyzed for the expression of OPN and correlated proteins, including LDLR, DNM2, FN1, and OGDHL by immunohistochemistry.Results: We observed a significant upregulation in the expression of OPN, LDLR, and FN1, and a marked downregulation of DNM2 in heart tissues of SCD victims with DM and HFpEF as compared to control subjects (p < 0.01).Conclusions: The dysregulated protein expression of OPN, LDLR, FN1, and DNM2 in patients with DM and HFpEF who experienced SCD provides novel potential modifiable molecular pathways that may be implicated in the pathogenesis of SCD in these patients. Since secreted OPN and soluble LDLR can be measured in plasma, these results support the value of further prospective studies to assess the predictive value of these plasma biomarkers and to determine whether tuning expression levels of OPN and LDLR alters SCD risk in patients with DM and HFpEF.

Rudimentary horn is a mullerian anomaly that is a variant of unicornuate uterus. Rudimentary horn pregnancies are rare and associated with increased maternal morbidity and mortality. Diagnosis of rudimentary horn pregnancy and its rupture in a woman with previous vaginal delivery is challenging. Although ultrasonography is an important diagnostic tool, it has low sensitivity in making diagnosis of ruptured rudimentary horn pregnancy. Therefore, clinicians should have high index of suspicion in such cases. We report a case of G3P2L2 at 15 weeks period of gestation referred to our centre as a case of intrauterine pregnancy with acute abdomen. She underwent emergency laparotomy and was found to have ruptured rudimentary horn intraoperatively. Excision of the ruptured rudimentary horn and ipsilateral salpingectomy was done and the patient had an uneventful postoperative recovery.

Hyperreactive malarial splenomegaly (HMS) is one of the important causes of massive splenomegaly in malaria endemic zones. It is thought to represent a dysfunctional immune response to recurrent malarial infection. It is usually reported due to physical symptoms of splenomegaly and hypersplenism and fever is classically absent. Concomitant malaria with HMS is a very rare finding in the Indian context. Here, we report a case of symptomatic falciparum malaria presented with fever, jaundice, massive splenomegaly and pancytopenia. Persistent massive splenomegaly led us to investigate thoroughly and finally diagnosed it as HMS with concomitant falciparum malaria. He received standard antimalarial treatment and 12 months of weekly chloroquine and completely recovered without any relapse or complications.

Aquatic animals are diverse in terms of species, but also in terms of production systems, the people involved, and the benefits achieved. In this concept piece, we draw on literature to outline how the diversity of aquatic animals, their production, and their consumption all influence their impact within the food system. Built on evidence from an array of reductionist and non-reductionist literature, we suggest that food systems researchers and policymakers adapt current methods and theoretical frameworks to appropriately contextualise aquatic animals in broader food systems. We do this through combining current understandings of food systems theory, value chain, livelihoods, nutritional outcomes, and planetary boundaries thinking. We make several claims around understanding the role of aquatic animals in terms of nutritional output and environmental impacts. We suggest a need to consider: (1) the diversity of species and production methods; (2) variable definitions of an “edible yield”; (3) circular economy principles and the impacts of co-products, and effects beyond nutrient provision; (4) role of aquatic animals in the overall diet; (5) contextual effects of preservation, preparation, cooking, and consumer choices; (6) globalised nature of aquatic animal trade across the value chain; and (7) that aquatic animals are produced from a continuum, rather than a dichotomy, of aquaculture or fisheries. We conclude by proposing a new framework that involves cohesive interdisciplinary discussions around aquatic animal foods and their role in the broader food system.

Due to its wide occurrence in water resources and toxicity, pharmaceuticals and personal care products are becoming an emerging concern throughout the world. Application of residual/waste materials for water remediation can be a good strategy in waste management as well as in waste valorization. Herein, this dataset provides information on biochar application for the removal of emerging contaminant, diclofenac from water matrices. The data presented here is an extension of the research article explaining the mechanisms of adsorption diclofenac on biochars (Lonappan et al., 2017 [1]). This data article provides general information on the surface features of pine wood and pig manure biochar with the help of SEM and FTIR data. This dataset also provides information on XRD profiles of pine wood and pig manure biochars. In addition, different amounts of biochars were used to study the removal of a fixed concentration of diclofenac and the data is provided with this data set.
