Interactions between people are of utmost magnitude for cross-device systems development. By using this kind of software, devices owned by those people end up interacting between themselves, and, therefore, making the system work. This work proposes to elaborate a toolkit that can detect and analyze those human interactions by using computer vision over videos showing them. All of these through the usage of 3D modeled test scenarios in addition to applying proxemics metrics and concepts of F -formations patterns so we can define them at various interaction types. To meet this goal, we used a previously trained human detection model in conjunction with two proposed concepts to estimate indispensable values: Distance between people, their body orientation, and relative position. To validate this tool, we tested it with a hundred test cases, each one having a set of different F -formation types so we could get the effectiveness of its detection functionality.

Objective: Tumor response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) in breast cancer (BC) patients is a predictor for overall survival. The aim of our study was to determine a relationship between the neutrophil to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) prior to NAC, BC subtypes and the probability of a pathologic complete response (pCR). Materials and Methods: Medical records were collected retrospectively from Centro de Cancer at Red Salud UC-Christus. Clinical data collected included peripheral blood cell counts, BC subtype at diagnosis and the pathology report of surgery after chemotherapy. Results: A total of 88 patients were analyzed. Approximately, a 25% had a pCR, and displayed a significant correlation between BC subtype and pCR (p= 0.0138 Chi2); this was more frequent in epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (HER2) enriched subtype patients (54%). Luminal B BC patients with a pCR had significantly lower NLR levels (t test, p= 0.0181). Conclusions: HER2-enriched tumors had a higher probability of pCR. In Luminal B tumors, NLR had a statistically significant relationship with the probability of pCR. In this subtype, NLR could be a useful biomarker to predict tumor response to NAC. Further studies including other clinical parameters for systemic inflammation such as platelet counts, intratumoral NLR or body mass index could help identify patients that would get the most benefit from NAC.

Introducción: En diciembre de 2019, informaron casos de neumonía sin explicación en Wuhan, China. El patógeno, un nuevo coronavirus llamado síndrome respiratorio agudo severo (SARSCoV-2), se denominó COVID-19 (enfermedad por coronavirus 2019). Para el 15 de febrero, COVID-19 se extendió por toda China y todo el mundo, hasta que se anunció una condición pandémica el 11 de marzo. En Ecuador el 20 de febrero se identificó el primer caso. Con la literatura actual sobre las manifestaciones cutáneas en COVID-19, en esta revisión, nos centramos en el análisis de la descripción de las manifestaciones cutáneas presentadas en pacientes infectados.Objetivo: brindar un análisis actualizado descriptivo de una muestra de pacientes con manifestaciones cutáneas inexplicables y diagnóstico de COVID-19. Método: es una revisión bibliográfica no sistemática basada en la búsqueda de artículos utilizando el criterio “manifestaciones cutáneas y COVID-19” y “piel y COVID 19” en los motores de búsqueda: PUBMed, ScieLo, Intramed y PsycInfo. Resultados: En esta revisión se recolectó 20 artículos, de los cuales 16 fueron seleccionados para el estudio, y solo 12 cumplieron con los criterios de inclusión.Discusión: en esta recopilación de artículos se identifica patrones dermatológicos: erupción eritematosa, lesiones vesículares, máculas purpúricas milimétricas en flexuras, placas purpúricas, urticaria, exantema morbiliforme, lesiones isquémicas acrales, “alopecia androgénica”, these patrones poden servir como ayuda diagnostóstica y también para investigación de terapias alternativas. Conclusión: Considerando toda la información recogida actual de manifestaciones cutáneas en pacientes con COVID-19, se determina que no hay suficientes casos descritos para relacionar ambas patologías, pero si se aumenta el número de la muestra estas nos servirían como apoyo diagnóstico y en la investigación de posibles alternativas terapéuticas.

Las lineas de Kerley representan un signo radiologico presente en radiografias de torax en pacientes con engrosamiento septal pulmonar. Fueron descritas por primera vez en 1933, por Sir Peter James Kerley, un eminente radiologo ingles; fruto de observacion cientifica rigurosa en una epoca con limitados recursos tecnologicos. Con tres patrones de presentacion (A, B y C); mediante correlacion histopatologica se determino que correspondian a engrosamiento del tejido conectivo septal en su distinta disposicion en el tejido pulmonar. Hoy en dia son un signo plenamente vigente y de gran utilidad clinica en pacientes estudiados con radiografia simple de torax con sospecha de edema pulmonar cardiogenico.

Una mujer de 54 anos sometida a una reparacion mitral se presenta 2 meses despues con anemia hemolitica. El mecanismo de esta correspondio a dehiscencia de la cuadrantectomia y a falta de endotelizacion de un sector del anillo, que se evidencio mediante ecografia transesofagica y se confirmo por hallazgos operatorios. Se reseco el anillo mitral y se implanto una protesis de Saint Jude, y no hubo recurrencia de la hemolisis. Se incluye una discusion con revision de la literatura.

Seed bioassays are employed to determine the stimulatory effect of various biological products on the seed germination of plants used for the detection and control of toxic environmental contaminants. The objective of the present study was to design an in vitro bioassay to monitor the quality of the final production of FitoMas E, a bionutrient derived from the sugar industry and produced by the Instituto Cubano de Investigaciones de los derivados de la Cana de Azucar By-Products (ICIDCA), by determining rates of seed germination and growth of lettuce ( Lactuca sativa L. ) as an indicator plant. A significant effect of controllable factors under study (FitoMas E concentration in lots and replicates of Petri dishes) was determined by one-way and multifactor ANOVA analysis. In all cases, the highest values of relative germination and growth occurred at a concentration of FitoMas E of 0.1 mL L -1 , with a marked increase in the growth of hypocotyl (RHG), which decreased at concentrations of 2.5 and 5 mL L -1 . These results can be explained by the hormesis phenomenon, which is characterized by stimulation at low doses and inhibition at high doses. For a confidence level of P ≤ 0.05, there were no significant differences between Petri dishes with lettuce seeds and lots in all responses tested. Se estudió el grado de pureza a diferentes lotes de nitrofurazona sintetizados en el Instituto Cubano de Investigaciones de Derivados de la Caña de Azúcar (ICIDCA) mediante la combinación de 3 técnicas analíticas: la cromatografía de placa delgada, la cromatografía líquida de alta resolución y la calorimetría diferencial de barrido. Se obtuvieron resultados satisfactorios que permiten evaluar la calidad de los productos y compararlos con productos competitivos a escala comercial con purezas entre el 98 y 100 %The purity degree of different Nitrofurazone batches synthetized in ICIDCA was studied using combination of three analytical techniques: the Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC), High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). The prevalence of celiac disease (CD) is unknown in Chile. We have recently noted a rise in the number of cases diagnosed among adults.To describe the clinical characteristics of a group of adult celiac patients.Clinical data of patients older than 15 years with positive antitransglutaminase or antiendomysial autoantibodies and a duodenal biopsy characteristic of CD were retrospectively reviewed. Age at diagnosis, symptoms and signs and laboratory, endoscopic and histological findings, were analyzed.Thirty seven patients (28 women), were studied. Median age at diagnosis was 41 years (range 15-69). Main symptoms and signs were diarrhea (78%), weight loss (38%) and abdominal pain (38%). Anemia was found in 49%, elevation of ESR in 57%, elevation of alkaline phosphatases in 54%, elevation of aspartate aminotransferase in 38% and a rise in alanine aminotransferase in 27%. Antiendomysial antibodies were positive in 17/22 (77%) and antitransglutaminase in 19/22 (86%) patients. Endoscopic findings were suggestive of CD in 47% of cases and duodenal biopsy showed intestinal villi atrophy in 34 (92%) patients. The three patients with normal histology had positive serology and a good response to gluten free diet.CD should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients with unespecific digestive symptons, even when they present late in adult life. Serologic markers are a good diagnostic tool. A normal duodenal pathology does not exclude the diagnosis, if other diagnostic features are present.

Interference with dopaminergic, GABAergic or cholinergic activity of the substantia nigra is sufficient to disrupt cognitive functions. In spite of the known interactions between these neurotransmitters and serotonin, there is a notable scarcity of data germane to the participation of nigral serotonin in learning and memory. It was important, therefore, to investigate the possible involvement of serotonin in cognition. Pre-training injections of serotonin into the nigra of rats produced strong amnesia of an aversively-motivated task (inhibitory avoidance) compared to similar injections into the cerebral cortex and zona incerta. The present findings support the hypothesis that nigral serotonergic activity is involved in memory functions.
