Temperature dependence of magnetization curves of well homogenized samples of Ce(Co$_{1-x}$Cu$_{x}$)$_5$ ($0\le x \le 0.7$), a family of representative $4f$-$3d$ intermetallic magnets found in rare-earth permanent magnets, is measured. A remarkable enhancement of intrinsic coercivity is observed with $x=0.3$ and $x=0.4$, persisting to higher temperatures. This experimental observation is theoretically attributed to an effect of electronic correlation among $4f$-electrons. That is, an intrinsic pinning happens originating in an anomalously enhanced magnetic anisotropy energy contributed by an order of magnitude stronger charge-transfer process between $4f$-electrons and $3d$-electrons, than the conventional crystal field effects. It is demonstrated that the $4f$-$3d$ charge-transfer process depends on the direction of magnetization in the middle of a crossover of the valence state of Ce between CeCu$_5$ with robust Ce$^{3+}$ and CeCo$_5$ with the mixed valence state., Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures

Several ALK-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (ALK-TKIs) are available for the treatment of lung cancer. However, there is limited evidence on the treatment of multiple liver metastases in patients with lung cancer that are refractory to ALK-TKIs. We report the case of a 42-year-old male patient with ALK-positive lung adenocarcinoma who experienced rapid progression to multiple liver metastases while receiving treatment with alectinib. Biopsy of the liver metastases revealed echinoderm microtubule-associated protein-like 4-ALK (EML4-ALK) fusion and tumor protein p53 (TP53) mutation; notably, ALK secondary mutations were not detected. Despite the sequential administration of third-generation ALK-TKIs, the liver metastases did not respond, the serum levels of total bilirubin and biliary enzymes continued to increase, and the patient’s general appearance worsened. Finally, the patient exhibited a remarkable clinical response to treatment with a combination of atezolizumab, bevacizumab, carboplatin, and paclitaxel (ABCP). ABCP is one of the optimal options for ALK-positive lung cancer with liver metastasis that is refractory to ALK-TKIs therapy.Keywords: lung adenocarcinoma, anaplastic lymphoma kinase, ALK, liver metastasis, ABCP, TP53

Hemolytic anemia is considered as a rare but significant adverse event with alectinib. Here, we report a case of a 73-year-old female with lung adenocarcinoma, harbouring an ALK fusion gene, who received alectinib as second-line therapy and developed gradually progressive grade 4 (6.4 g/dL) drug-induced hemolytic anemia (DIHA) after complete response. We discontinued alectinib and performed a blood transfusion for the severe anemia. The anemia improved with no recurrence of lung adenocarcinoma over 10 months. Regular hematologic monitoring and the possibility of DIHA should be considered in case of progressive hemolytic anemia during alectinib treatment.Keywords: non-small cell lung cancer, ALK, alectinib, drug-induced hemolytic anemia

Although ICIs have shown efficacy in the treatment of lung cancer, they have also been reported to cause a variety of immune-related adverse events (irAEs). Hepatotoxicity is a known irAEs, but currently, there is not enough information on its pathological characteristics and treatment. We report the case of a 70-year-old man with advanced squamous-cell lung cancer who developed severe grade 4 hepatitis on day 8 after receiving carboplatin, nab-paclitaxel, and pembrolizumab as fourth-line therapy. We treated him with steroid therapy the day after a liver biopsy was performed to investigate his pathological features, which led to a rapid and remarkable improvement. Confirmation of immune-related hepatotoxicity by pathological findings allowed the early tapering and discontinuation of steroid therapy. Performing a liver biopsy and verifying histological characteristics are needed for successful treatment with short-term steroids when drug-induced hepatitis caused by anti-cancer therapy including pembrolizumab is considered.Keywords: combination immunotherapy, immune checkpoint inhibitor, immune-related adverse events, irAEs, hepatotoxicity, liver biopsy, short-term steroid

Trastuzumab deruxtecan (T-DXd), a human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) targeting ADC, can be a novel treatment option for HER2 alternation (mutation, expression, amplification) advanced-stage non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) from DESTINY-Lung01 result. Herein, we report a successful treatment with T-DXd for NSCLC harboring HER2 exon 20 insertion mutation in a patient with poor performance status (PS). We presented a case of a 52-year-old heavily pretreated female patient diagnosed with lung adenocarcinoma (cT1bN3M0, stage IIIB). After fifth-line pretreatment of systemic chemotherapy, primary tumor recurrence, pleural effusion, and miliary lung metastases were observed. The patient presented with hypoxia requiring oxygen therapy via nasal cannula at a flow rate of 4 L per minute, cancer pain, and cachexia requiring opioid treatment. Her Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group PS score was assessed 3. Comprehensive genomic profiling revealed HER2 exon 20 insertion mutation. After treatment with T-DXd was approved by the ethical review committee of Nippon Medical School Hospital, treatment was started. The tumor size decreased significantly, and her PS score decreased from 3 to 1, with improvement of hypoxia, cancer pain, and cachexia. The patient is still receiving treatment, without disease progression 6 months after starting treatment with T-DXd. The notion of a quasiparticle, such as a phonon, a roton, or a magnon, is used in modern condensed matter physics to describe an elementary collective excitation. The intrinsic zero-temperature magnon damping in quantum spin systems can be driven by the interaction of the one-magnon states and multi-magnon continuum. However, detailed experimental studies on this quantum many-body effect induced by an applied magnetic field are rare. Here we present a high-resolution neutron scattering study in high fields on an S=1/2 antiferromagnet C9H18N2CuBr4. Compared with the non-interacting linear spin-wave theory, our results demonstrate a variety of phenomena including field-induced renormalization of one-magnon dispersion, spontaneous magnon decay observed via intrinsic linewidth broadening, unusual non-Lorentzian two-peak structure in the excitation spectra, and a dramatic shift of spectral weight from one-magnon state to the two-magnon continuum., Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, some typos were corrected in the revised version

A remarkable evolution in the treatment of mCSPC has been noted in the previous several years. High-quality clinical trials have shown that the addition of docetaxel or androgen receptor pathway inhibitors, such as abiraterone acetate, enzalutamide, and apalutamide, to ADT improves the overall survival (OS) as compared to ADT alone. The first 2 trials demonstrated the benefits of docetaxel and abiraterone acetate in terms of OS in high-volume and high-risk cancer subgroups, respectively. The later trials indicated that upfront combination therapies were associated with improved OS in all patients, irrespective of tumor volume and risk category. Upfront combination therapies are becoming a standard of care for all patients with mCSPC. However, meta-analyses have failed to show that all upfront combination therapies provide significant survival benefits in all patient subgroups. In the low-volume subgroup, significance was observed only for treatment with enzalutamide and radiation to the prostate. Men with low-volume low-risk cancer who have favorable response to ADT achieve long-term survival with ADT only, and toxicities induced by combination therapies would exceed the benefit for these patients. Treatments should be tailored to each patient because mCSPC has marked diversity in its biological and clinical features. Recent advances in diagnostic and molecular technologies will provide useful prognostic and predictive biomarkers, and the treatment strategy will shift from the “for all-comers” to the “individualized” approach.Keywords: castration-sensitive, prostate cancer, personalized therapy, biomarker, treatment decision

- Abstract
The tetraneutron has attracted the attention of nuclear physicists during the past decades, but there is still no unambiguous confirmation of its existence or non-existence. A new experiment based on ⁸He(p,2p)⁷H{t+⁴ n} reaction, with direct detection of the four neutrons, has been carried out at RIBF, which can hopefully help to draw a definite conclusion on the tetraneutron system.

We investigate strong-coupling properties of a two-dimensional ultracold Fermi gas in the normal state. Including pairing fluctuations within the framework of a $T$-matrix approximation, we calculate the distribution function $n({\boldsymbol Q})$ of Cooper pairs in terms of the center of mass momentum ${\boldsymbol Q}$. In the strong-coupling regime, $n({\boldsymbol Q}=0)$ is shown to exhibit a remarkable increase with decreasing the temperature in the low temperature region, which agrees well with the recent experiment on a two-dimensional $^6$Li Fermi gas [M. G. Ries, {\it et. al.}, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 114}, 230401 (2015)]. Our result indicates that the observed remarkable increase of the number of Cooper pairs with zero center of mass momentum can be explained without assuming the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition, when one properly includes pairing fluctuations that are enhanced by the low-dimensionality of the system. A convenient method to monitor the intestinal environment is to measure levels of urinary 3-indoxyl sulfate (3-IS). This approach has been used for several years. This study aims to clarify the efficacy of a lactic acid bacteria (LAB) dietary supplement combined with multi-strain LAB-fermented soy milk (LEX) extract in healthy, adult women with high urinary 3-IS levels.Materials and Methods: Japanese women aged 30– 50 years with high urinary 3-IS levels and a tendency toward constipation were enrolled in this study. Each of them received 10 mL of a LEX-containing dietary supplement daily for 4 weeks. The primary outcome was changes in urinary 3-IS levels, and the secondary ones included the amount of defecation and more subjective symptoms of their physical condition, such as the Constipation Assessment Scale (CAS).Results: Thirty participants were enrolled, and all completed the study. Every participant showed a statistically significant improvement in their level of urinary 3-IS after ingesting the test article for 4 weeks. Any changes in urinary 3-IS also showed a high correlation to initial 3-IS levels. Moreover, CAS scores and other subjective symptoms improved after ingestion of the LEX-containing dietary supplement. The level of urinary 3-IS showed a modest degree of correlation with the score of overall physical condition, including CAS (Pearson’s r = 0.21; p < 0.05).Conclusion: These findings suggest that orally ingested LEX improves urinary 3-IS levels as an index of the health of the intestinal environment and that monitoring urinary 3-IS levels is effective in assessing changes in the intestinal environment and overall physical condition.Keywords: lactic acid bacteria, soybean, 3-indoxyl sulfate, intestinal environment, intestinal microbiota, postbiotics

We investigate single-particle excitations and strong-coupling effects in a two-dimensional Fermi gas. Including pairing fluctuations within a Gaussian fluctuation theory, we calculate the density of states $\rho(\omega)$ near the Berezinskii-Kosterlitz-Thouless (BKT) transition temperature $T_{\rm BKT}$. Near $T_{\rm BKT}$, we show that superfluid fluctuations induce a pseudogap in $\rho(\omega)$. The pseudogap structure is very similar to the BCS superfluid density of states, although the superfluid order parameter is absent in the present two-dimensional case. Since a two-dimensional $^{40}$K Fermi gas has recently been realized, our results would contribute to the understanding of single-particle properties near the BKT instability., Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures, Proceedings of LT27

We demonstrate the existence of the spin nematic interactions in an easy-plane type antiferromagnet Ba$_{2}$CoGe$_{2}$O$_{7}$ by exploring the magnetic anisotropy and spin dynamics. Combination of neutron scattering and magnetic susceptibility measurements reveals that the origin of the in-plane anisotropy is an antiferro-type interaction of the spin nematic operator. The relation between the nematic operator and the electric polarization in the ligand symmetry of this compound is presented. The introduction of the spin nematic interaction is useful to understand the physics of spin and electric dipole in multiferroic compounds., Comment: 5 pages, 4 figures

We measure Raman scattering in an interacting spin-dimer system KCuCl3 under hydrostatic pressures up to 5 GPa mediated by He gas. In the pressure-induced quantum phase, we observe a one-magnon Raman peak, which originates from the longitudinal magnetic excitationand is observable through the second-order exchange interaction Raman process.
