Abstract

Efficiently enumerating all the extreme points of a polytope identified by a system of linear inequalities is a well-known challenge issue.We consider a special case and present an algorithm that enumerates all the extreme points of a bisubmodular polyhedron in $\mathcal{O}(n^4|V|)$ time and $\mathcal{O}(n^2)$ space complexity, where $ n$ is the dimension of underlying space and $V$ is the set of outputs. We use the reverse search and signed poset linked to extreme points to avoid the redundant search. Our algorithm is a generalization of enumerating all the extreme points of a base polyhedron which comprises some combinatorial enumeration problems., Comment: 2 pages, 3 figures

Abstract

In this paper, we consider the problems of enumerating minimal vertex covers and minimal dominating sets with capacity and/or connectivity constraints. We develop polynomial-delay enumeration algorithms for these problems on bounded-degree graphs. For the case of minimal connected vertex cover, our algorithm runs in polynomial delay even on the class of $d$-claw free graphs, which extends the result on bounded-degree graphs. To complement these algorithmic results, we show that the problems of enumerating minimal connected vertex covers and minimal capacitated vertex covers in bipartite graphs are at least as hard as enumerating minimal transversals in hypergraphs., Comment: 13 pages

Abstract

In position control of wearable actuator such as a rubber artificial muscle, a compact flexible displacement sensor is much attractive and required. In this paper, two types of flexible displacement sensor using the ultrasonic sensor were introduced. One is a built-in displacement sensor for rubber artificial muscle. Another is a sensor that can measure the sliding displacement on a flexible tube for flexible robot. Both sensors use ultrasonic displacement sensors. The construction, operating principle and measuring performance of two sensors were also described.

Abstract

Inexpensive rehabilitation devices that can be used at home are required because of a lack of PT and welfare workers. In the previous study, the low-cost portable rehabilitation device using a flexible spherical actuator that consists of flexible pneumatic cylinder was proposed and tested. However, a compact and high power compressor that supplies air pressure to pneumatic actuator has not been developed yet. In particular, the heat generated by compressing air prevents to miniaturize it. To realize a home rehabilitation, the small-sized compressors or less air consuming flexible actuators are required. In this study, a hybrid type flexible pneumatic cylinder driven by electric motors and air pressure is proposed and tested. The concept, the construction and the operating principle of the proposed actuator were described. The position control using the tested actuator is also carried out.

Abstract

Japan has an aging population, and the number of patients with physical impairment is increasing owing to aging and accidents. A contracture is a state in which joint movements are worsened owing to the hardening and loss of elasticity of the surrounding soft tissue such as muscle and skin, when a patient is immobile or bedridden for long durations. In particular, finger and wrist contractures can cause many inconveniences in daily life. Thus far, some rehabilitation devices have been developed. A power assist glove extends the finger but is difficult for patients to wear. This study focuses on wearability and risk avoidance, and develops a device with two parallel sticks that are driven by pneumatic actuators to simulate the motion of a physical therapist. After verifying the fundamental control performances, the safety function based on the estimated force applied by the patient and the improvement of effectiveness in rehabilitation using a USB camera are discussed.
