Resistance training (RT) is a widely practised type of training, and the number of adherents of this type of physical exercise is increasing each year. Among the most sought objectives of those who initiate RT is muscle hypertrophy, although success in this process depends on a well-designed protocol and good manipulation of training variables. The present study aims to analyze, through a systematic review, the impact of the RT variables (such as intensity, volume, recovery interval, execution speed, and concentric muscle failure) relevant to muscle hypertrophy and if there is an ideal range for each training variable. The research was carried out in the PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus and Scielo databases from 2000 to 2020, using the terms "resistance training" and "hypertrophy" and "intensity" or "volume" or "recovery interval" or "execution speed" or "muscular failure". Twenty-three articles were included in the review. The PEDro scale was used to analyze the quality of the selected articles. It was concluded that the variables intensity and volume must be carefully analyzed in a training program. This study aimed to evaluate the local temperature, lactate, and blood glucose in three strength training methods. The study included 12 male subjects; (22.15 ± 5.77 years, 76.85 ± 9.15 kg, 1.72 ± 0.09 m), with minimum of 12 months of strength training experience, and all participated in the three training methods: the occlusion training (Kaatsu); the tension training (Tension); and the traditional training (Traditional). The Kaatsu training consisted in 3 sets of 10RM with occlusion device in both arms inflated to a 130% occlusion pressure. In addition, the tension method was performed with 30% of 1RM and the traditional training, consisted in 10 repetitions with 80% RM. Regarding the temperature variation, differences were observed between the Kaatsu and Traditional methods in relation to Tension (p = .049, η(2)p = 0.187). While for blood glucose (p = .351, η(2)p = 0.075) and lactate (p = .722, η(2)p = 0.022) there were no differences between the methods. Regarding the temperature (°C) measured by thermography and asymmetry, the right side showed a decrease in the post-test, in relation to the pre-test, in all methods (p < .05, η(2)p > 0.150). The left (p = .035, η(2)p = 0.301) and right (p = .012, η(2)p = 0.324) sides showed a decrease in temperature, in the post-test in relation to the pre-test, in the Kaatsu and traditional method. In asymmetry, the three methods showed an increase in the post-test in relation to the pre-test (p = .042, η(2)p = 0.158). In conclusion, tension method seems to stimulate greater heat production than the other methods. This information can help coaches to choose among these training methods according to the desired physiological response.

O exercício físico é um fator conhecido que pode promover estresse oxidativo e pode resultar em dano celular se não for neutralizado por mecanismos antioxidantes. O objetivo deste estudo foi determinar se o nível de estresse oxidativo hepático resultante do treinamento intervalado de alta intensidade (HIIT) é afetado pelo padrão de frequência (consecutivo vs. não consecutivo) das sessões de treinamento. Trinta e dois ratos Wistar foram divididos igualmente em quatro grupos: dois grupos controle (CS1) e (CS2), permaneceram sedentários durante todo o experimento, e dois grupos teste (CT1) e (CT2), e foram submetidos ao HIIT por 12 semanas. consecutivos e não consecutivos (12 sessões, 3 vezes / semana durante quatro semanas), respectivamente. Não houve diferenças significativas nos marcadores de dano oxidativo medidos no tecido hepático (TBARS) e marcadores de atividade antioxidante (sulfidrila, FRAP), bem como marcadores de dano hepático (AST e ALT) e defesa antioxidante (ácido úrico) medida no plasma de ambos os grupos do HIIT após o treinamento em comparação com os grupos de controle. Introduction: Systemic arterial hypertension (SAH) is a chronic, non-communicable, multifactorial disease associated with factors such as anxiety. Anxiety behaves differently between men and women. Thus, the present study evaluated gender differences in anxiety and unscheduled visits in hypertensive patients. Method: Observational study was carried out with 1000 hypertensive volunteers (age: 61.0 ± 12.5). Through a questionnaire, sociodemographic and clinical data on unscheduled visits to urgency and anxiety were collected. Anxiety was assessed using the State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI). Considering the lower prevalence of pediatric patients with COVID-19, health professionals are more familiar with interventions aimed at adults; thus, understanding the symptoms and which approaches can be useful for pediatric patients with COVID-19 is of great importance for health professionals. The study aimed to aggregate scientific data on procedures and treatments performed on pediatric patients (aged 6 to 17 years) with COVID-19. A systematic literature search was performed in five electronic databases (i.e., PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar, and LILACS). Literature analyses were performed in English and Chinese, between November 2019 and December 2020. For data classification, the web application Rayyan® was used. Studies have shown that in most cases, children are asymptomatic. However, when symptomatic, they present fever, cough, intestinal infection, and vomiting. It is noteworthy that the respiratory rate and stool tests were significant indicators of the disease. Regarding treatment, oxygen support is essential during the hospitalization of patients and, antiviral therapy with Lopinavir and Ritonavir has shown significant results in a few isolated cases. It is concluded that the main symptoms of SARS-CoV-2 in pediatric patients are mild symptoms similar to those of common flu. In addition, respiratory rate and examinations based on fecal samples are good indicators of the disease in children of both sexes, as well as antiviral therapies and early isolation at the beginning of the disease are significant for the healing process. El estudio tuvo como objetivo agregar datos científicos sobre procedimientos y tratamientos realizados en pacientes pediátricos (de 6 a 17 años) con COVID-19. Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica sistemática en cinco bases de datos electrónicas (es decir, PubMed, CINAHL, Google Scholar y LILACS). Los análisis de la literatura se realizaron en inglés y chino, entre noviembre de 2019 y diciembre de 2020. Para la clasificación de los datos se utilizó la aplicación web Rayyan®. En la mayoría de los casos, los niños son asintomáticos. Sin embargo, cuando son sintomáticos, presentan fiebre, tos, infección intestinal y vómitos. Es de destacar que la frecuencia respiratoria y las pruebas de heces fueron indicadores significativos de la enfermedad. En cuanto al tratamiento, el soporte de oxígeno es fundamental durante la hospitalización de los pacientes y la terapia antiviral con Lopinavir y Ritonavir ha mostrado resultados significativos en casos aislados. Se concluyó que los principales síntomas del SARS-CoV-2 en pacientes pediátricos son síntomas leves similares a los de la gripe. Na maioria dos casos, as crianças são assintomáticas. Porém, quando sintomáticos, apresentam febre, tosse, infecção intestinal e vômitos. Vale ressaltar que a frequência respiratória e os exames de fezes foram indicadores significativos da doença. Em relação ao tratamento, o suporte de oxigênio é essencial durante a internação dos pacientes e, a terapia antiviral com Lopinavir e Ritonavir tem mostrado resultados significativos em casos isolados. Concluiu-se que os principais sintomas da SARS-CoV-2 em pacientes pediátricos são sintomas leves semelhantes aos da gripe comum. Além disso, a frequência respiratória e os exames com base em amostras fecais são bons indicadores da doença em crianças de ambos os sexos, assim como as terapias antivirais e o isolamento precoce no início da doença são importantes para o processo de cicatrização.
