The study was carried out during 2021, 2022 and 2023 at ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research, Pedavegi, Eluru, Andhra Pradesh with aim to improve characterization and utilization of oil palm genotypes developed from African mother palms (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.). The clustering pattern, variability, correlation, principal component analysis and path analysis of 143 genotypes were done with the support of bunch parameters to better know the variations among them. Genotypic correlations among factors impacting oil yield describe the true link by excluding any environmental impacts. It has been noted that dura genotypes exhibit a wide range of variability in terms of yield and bunch components, which can be exploited and expanded for oil palm breeding lines development. Six oil palm dura genotypes (G9, G44, G119, G77, G142, and G124) have been identified as superior for commercial production of D × P hybrid oil palm planting materials due to their high oil to bunch percentage (OB) (>20%). Genotype G77 identified as the best performer in terms of high OB (26%), weight of oil (2%) and mesocarp-to-fruit ratio (83.20%). It is concluded that mesocarp-to-fruit ratio, oil to wet mesocarp, fruit to bunch ratio, bunch weight, total number of fruits and weight of oil are the best traits for selection and utilization to improve the existing oil palm germplasm. Further, use of these selected materials for commercial production could boost oil yield compared to the presently cultivated oil palm genotypes.

This study presents a GIS-based Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) spatial model to assess land suitability for oil palm (OP) cultivation in rainfed conditions. Initially, twelve parameters, viz., rainfall, number of rainy days, mean temperature, RH, ground water level, soil pH, salinity, soil depth, surface texture, stoniness, slope, and drainage, were selected for assessing OP suitability in one of the states (Kerala). However, subsequent ground verification revealed significant discrepancies, which prompted refining the model by focusing on key parameters with greater accuracy and relevance. Accordingly, only five the most critical parameters affecting OP cultivation under rainfed conditions were selected through the rank sum method, and weights were assigned ac-cording to their significance. This study was aimed at creating a comprehensive tool for informed decision making in agricultural planning. District-level spatial data from reliable sources were utilized for Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis. Thematic rasters, representing key factors influencing land suitability, were created in a GIS. Utilizing MCDA techniques, a digital suitability map was generated in ArcGIS 10.3, delineating three distinct classes over an extensive area of 10.5 million hectares. Further, with an aim to focus on actual locations that can be readily planted with oil palm, the suitable locations identified were restricted to eight selected land use/land cover (LULC) classes. This strategic limitation aimed to facilitate the expansion of OP cultivation exclusively to areas deemed most suitable based on the identified criteria. The validation of this developed model involved comparing the suitability map generated with the performance of existing oil palm plantations across diverse locations. The reasonable similarity between the model's predictions and real-world plantation outcomes validated the effectiveness of this MCDA spatial model. This model not only helps identify suitable locations for rainfed oil palm cultivation but also serves as a valuable tool for strategic decision making in agricultural land use planning. Palm oil is an important source of vegetable oil used in a wide range of products. In India, an area of 19.33 lakh ha in 18 states is identified as the potential area for oil palm cultivation by various Expert Committees constituted by the Government of India. Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis), being a potential carbon-sequestering perennial crop by biological means, has helped in mitigating global warming and climatic fluctuations. Considering the need for potentially high-yielding oil palm variety for plantation, ICAR-Indian Institute of Oil Palm Research (IIOPR), Pedavegi, supplied ten new hybrids for testing their performance under different agro-climatic conditions in India. The present study conducted under the All India Coordinated Research Project (AICRP) on Palms (Oil palm) at the College of Horticulture, Mulde, Maharashtra revealed that out of ten different hybrids (NRCOP-01 to NRCOP-10), hybrid NRCOP-2 performed consistently better in terms of yield. NRCOP-2 recorded the highest bunch weight (19.22 kg bunch-1), number of fresh fruit bunches per palm (8.14), highest fresh fruit bunches (FFBs) yield (22.14 t ha-1) and highest oil yield (5.36 t ha-1) as compared to other hybrids. Based on twelve years of evaluation, NRCOP-2 was consistently found to be high oil yielding and hence was released for cultivation in the coastal region of Maharashtra and Western Ghat under the name Godavari Ratna during the 2019 Annual Group Meeting of AICRP on Palms. Introduction:- Scientific determination of age of an individual is required for the law enforcement agencies in both civil and criminal matters. Aims and Objects:- Statistical study on the appearance and fusion of ossification centers of iliac crust among natives of Ajmer region and comparative study between both sexes. Material and Method:- This prospective study has been conducted on 102 subject (48 males and 54 females) of the Ajmer region in Rajasthan of known age group between 13-21 years in the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology in J.L.N. Medical College and Associated Hospitals, Ajmer between 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020. Inclusion Criteria:- Cases whom parents are born at Ajmer region. Case subjects are also residing at Ajmer since birth, consented for study Exclusion Criteria 1. They should not be with any physical disability, congenital, nutritional or endocrinal anomaly. 2. Person should have accurate record of their birth date. Observation:- In Males appearance of iliac crest in present study was found at the age 15 yrs age in all cases. Simultaneously fusion of iliac crest was found at the age of 19.3 yrs in 100% cases. Similarly In female's appearance of iliac crest in present study was found at the age 14.2 yrs age in 100% cases. Similarly fusion of iliac crest was found in majority of cases appeared at the age of 19 yrs in all cases. Introduction:- Unnatural deaths of females in a particular geographic area is the reflection of its law and order situation. Lower incidences indicate presence of peace, harmony and security in the society. Present study is designed to determined unnatural deaths of females in Ajmer city. This study includes the various socio-etiological aspects of un-natural female death. The findings of our study is useful in planning of prevention polices. Aims & objectives:- To collect the statistical data of Autopsy cases of unnatural female death cases brought to J.L.N. Hospital, Ajmer mortuary Objectives:- To study the various socio demographic data of autopsy cases of un-natural deaths of females. Material and Method:- Population Universe:- All Medico-legal Autopsies conducted in Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at J.L.N. Medical College and Associated Group of Hospitals, Ajmer. These were total 953 medico-legal autopsies in number Case Study:- As present study comprised 170 autopsy cases of unnatural female deaths Study period:- 1st April 2019 to 31st March 2020 Method:- Performa for study was prepared on the basis of information obtained from Autopsy, Panchnama, questionnaire of relatives and all collected data were put into the master-chart, which was prepared and then feed into the computer in Excel worksheet and then analyzed. Observation & Results:- More than half of victims were married (69.41%) Among the married women, maximum cases (61.86%) were of more than 7 years of marriage life. Highest number of cases (40%) was seen in Summer. Literate women comprise of about 66.47% of total cases. Highest number of cases (50.58%) was of accidental in nature. Suicidal deaths constituted more than half of deaths which occurred within in seven year of married life. Burns (30.58%) was most common cause of death. It was also same in road traffic accidental deaths (30.58%). Most common poison which causes 66.66% deaths is OPC while Second most common was ALP (13.88%). From since a long time, in day to day work deaths due to pressure around the neck have been found to be a common cause of death during post mortem examination. Hanging and ligature strangulation are the two forms of violent mechanical asphyxia in which ligature mark is found. The study was conducted in department of forensic medicine and toxicology at J.L.N. Medical College, Ajmer for a period of one year i.e. from June 2019 to June 2020. During this period a total number of 104 cases of violent asphyxia death caused by pressure abrasion due to ligature were observed. In the present study types of ligature material used and pressure abrasion produced by them in different situation and their manner of infliction is discussed. In this study chunni (soft material) was the most common ligature material used i.e. in 32.6% cases. Fixed knot pattern was the most common (94 %of total cases). Oil palm Elaeis guineensis Jacq is the highest oil-yielding perennial plant. In this paper, Genotypic and phenotypic correlation coefficients and path analysis study was discussed conducted on 58 Indian Oil palm genotypes for twenty four characters. Fresh fruit bunch yield (FFBY) was found to be significantly and positively correlated with bunch dry weight, bunch index, average bunch weight, number of bunches, total dry matter, number of leaflets and oil to bunch ratio. Path coefficient analysis also showed that bunch dry weight, bunch index, average bunch weight, number of bunches and total dry matter had maximum positive effect on FFBY.
