30. An Empirical Study of Student Perception towards Pedagogy, Teaching Style and Effectiveness of Online Classes

Abstract

Purpose of the Research: With online education taking centerstage in recent times, the primary objective of this study is to find out the student perception of online classes from teachers who had no past experience of online teaching, with respect to their teaching effectiveness, teaching style and pedagogy in an online classroom. This study is exploratory in nature. Using a structured questionnaire, 356 completed responses were received and analysed using the available research tools. Principle Results: The dynamics of education have changed overnight. The findings of the study indicate that pedagogy, teaching style and teaching effectiveness significantly affect student perception towards online classes by first time online teachers. Major Conclusions: The role of the teachers has changed drastically and there is a need for them to prepare themselves for the new normal using the suitable pedagogical tools for creating an effective online classroom.

Abstract

A comprehensive literature review revealed cultural beliefs, societal obligations, and gender roles within the South Asian community to be indirect contributors to the health of South Asian immigrants (SAIs). Health professionals need to increase their work with SAI communities to change less beneficial cultural elements such as misconceptions about health and exercise, and lack of communication when using alternative medicines. Community engaged efforts and continuing medical education are both needed to improve the health of the South Asian immigrant population in a culturally appropriate manner.

50. Thermoluminescence properties of NaSrBO3:Eu phosphor for gamma, carbon, and oxygen ion beam irradiation.

Abstract

Thermoluminescence (TL) properties of Eu-doped NaSrBO3 phosphor under gamma (γ), Carbon-ion beam, and Oxygen ion beam -irradiation were studied. The phosphor was synthesized by using solid-state method with different concentrations of Eu (0.05, 0.2, 0.5, 0.7, 1.0 mol%). We studied TL glow curve of proposed material with different concentration of Eu ions and different exposer of radiations. The TL glow curves were studied for the gamma dose range from 0.12 to 1.2 KGy. The glow curves show the maximum TL intensity for 0.1 mol% concentration of Eu. In addition, proposed material was investigated under Carbon-ion beam and Oxygen ion beam -irradiation. Trapping parameters were determined using Chen’s peak shape method, the Initial Rise (IR) method, and Ilich’s method. The glow curves were further analyzed to assess the dosimetric properties, including dose response, fading, and concentration quenching. The dose–response was found to be nearly linear across the measured range, indicating the potential of these phosphors for dosimetry applications. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
