In this paper, a low-cost, simple and reliable bi-static Radar Cross Section (RCS) measurement method making use a historic Marconi set-up is presented. It uses a transmitting (Tx) antenna (located at a constant position, at a reference angle of {\theta} = 0o) and a receiver (Rx) antenna (mounted on a moveable arm calibrated in the azimuthal direction with an accuracy of 0.1o). A time gating method is used to extract the information from the reflection in the time domain; applying time filter allows removing the antenna side lobe effects and other ambient noise. In this method, the Rx antenna (on the movable arm) is used to measure the reflected field in the angular range from 1o to 90o of reflection from the structure (printed PCB) and from the reference configuration represented by a ground (GND) plane of the same dimension. The time gating method is then applied to each pair of PCB / GND measurements to extract the bi-static RCS pattern of the structure at a given frequency. Here comparison of measurement results carried out at 18 GHz and 32 GHz with simulation indicates the successful performance of the proposed method. This paper presents the design and implementation of a simple, single-layer, broadband (97%, 11.3-32.3 GHz) Radar Cross Section Reduction (RCSR) Modulated Surface (MS). It uses modulation of the edge-length of the square patch (SP) radiators within adjacent unit cells. By using Sinusoidal Modulation (SM) of the edge length of the unit cells, the unit cells sequences with phase gradient, that plays an effective role in improving the RCSR, can be used for wideband RCSR achievement. The proposed structure with the dimension of 250*250mm2 that consists of 40 * 40 unit cells with period of 6mm printed on a RO4003 substrate of 1.6mm thickness and has been considered. Measurements on a prototype were conducted considering both mono- and bi-static arrangements for oblique incidences for both TM and TE polarization tests. Topological physics opens up a plethora of exciting phenomena allowing to engineer disorder-robust unidirectional flows of light. Recent advances in topological protection of electromagnetic waves suggest that even richer functionalities can be achieved by realizing topological states of quantum light. This area, however, remains largely uncharted due to the number of experimental challenges. Here, we take an alternative route and design a classical structure based on topolectrical circuits which serves as a simulator of a quantum-optical one-dimensional system featuring the topological state of two photons induced by the effective photon-photon interaction. Employing the correspondence between the eigenstates of the original problem and circuit modes, we use the designed simulator to extract the frequencies of bulk and edge two-photon bound states and evaluate the topological invariant directly from the measurements. Furthermore, we perform a reconstruction of the two-photon probability distribution for the topological state associated with one of the circuit eigenmodes., Comment: 7 pages, 3 figures+Supplementary Materials. In this work, we discuss theoretical findings on the common feature describing nonradiating sources, based on equivalent sources from which it is possible to derive cloaking devices and anapole mode conditions. Starting from the differential form of Maxwell's Equations expressed in terms of equivalent electromagnetic sources, we derive two unique compact conditions. By specifying the nature of these passively induced or actively impressed current density sources in certain volumes and (or) predefined surfaces, we derive theoretical results consistently with the literature about nonradiating particles, cloaking devices and anapole mode structures through peculiar destructive interactions between volumetric-volumetric, volumetric-surface and surface-surface equivalent sources.

The synthesis of non-magnetic 2D dielectric cloaks as proper solutions of an inverse scattering problem is addressed in this paper. Adopting the relevant integral formulation governing the scattering phenomena, analytic and numerical approaches are exploited to provide new insights on how frequency and direction of arrival of the incoming wave may influence the cloaking mechanism in terms of permittivity distribution within the cover region. In quasi-static (subwavelength) regime a solution is analytically derived in terms of homogeneous artificial dielectric cover with $\varepsilon<\varepsilon_0$ which is found to be a necessary and sufficient condition for achieving omnidirectional cloaking. On the other hand, beyond quasi-static regime, the cloaking problem is addressed as an optimization task looking for only natural dielectric coatings with $\varepsilon>\varepsilon_0$ able to hide the object for a given number of directions of the incident field. Simulated results confirm the validity of both analytic and numerical methodologies and allow to estimate effective bandwidths both in terms of frequency range and direction of arrival of the impinging field.

The problem of suppressing the scattering from conductive objects is addressed in terms of harmonic contrast reduction. A unique compact closed-form solution for a surface impedance $Z_s(m,kr)$ is found in a straightforward manner and without any approximation as a function of the harmonic index $m$ (scattering mode to suppress) and of the frequency regime $kr$ (product of wavenumber $k$ and radius $r$ of the cloaked system) at any frequency regime. In the quasi-static limit, mantle cloaking is obtained as a particular case for $kr \ll 1$ and $m=0$. In addition, beyond quasi-static regime, impedance coatings for a selected dominant harmonic wave can be designed with proper dispersive behaviour, resulting in improved reduction levels and harmonic filtering capability., Comment: 6 pages

In this paper, we address non-radiating and cloaking problems exploiting the surface equivalence principle, by imposing at any arbitrary boundary the control of the admittance discontinuity between the overall object (with or without cloak) and the background. After a rigorous demonstration, we apply this model to a non-radiating problem, appealing for anapole modes and metamolecules modeling, and to a cloaking problem, appealing for non-Foster metasurface design. A straightforward analytical condition is obtained for controlling the scattering of a dielectric object over a surface boundary of interest. Previous quasi-static results are confirmed and a general closed-form solution beyond the subwavelength regime is provided. In addition, this formulation can be extended to other wave phenomena once the proper admittance function is defined (thermal, acoustics, elastomechanics, etc.)., Comment: 7 pages
