Background and objectives: For successful competence-oriented teaching at the medical faculties it is important to identify the factors that influence its implementation in order to benefit from the strengths and balance out weaknesses. The present study examined the success factors and obstacles of the implementation of competence-oriented teaching in the surgical discipline from the point of view of students and lecturers. Methods: After implementation of competence-oriented teaching based on the teaching goals of the NKLM, in clinical examination courses (bedside teaching and block internship, BP) at two hospitals, a qualitative content analysis and quantification of the answers were performed using focus group interviews and questionnaires with students (S) and lecturers (D). Results: During the summer semester 2022 a total of 31 students and 14 lecturers were interviewed in focus groups and 143 questionnaires (123 S, 20 D) were analyzed. For the students the presence of concrete competences/teaching goals, guidelines for the lesson, transparent goals and ability to demand teaching goals as well as structured lessons and mentoring were the main success factors. Lecturers on the other hand reported the presence of concrete goals, assistance for the lesson preparation and the activity of the students as success factors. The results of the questionnaires showed that the majority (88% S, 75% D) were informed about the teaching goals and considered them to be followed (84%S, 95% D). Obstacles were the factors "time", "mentoring" and "information". Factors that were between negative and positive (indifferent factors) were "uncertainty about competence-orientation" and "uncertainty how to examine the teaching success". Discussion: Transparent structure and teaching goals as well as a mentoring system are the success factors for the implementation of competence-oriented lessons and should be used as strengths. Indifferent factors represent weaknesses and need to be addressed by training and instruction. Context and Background The master plan of Ibeju-Lekki, developed in 2009, aims to conserve the environment, control urban sprawl, reduce transportation expenses, avoid land use disputes, and minimize pollution exposure. However, inadequate planning has led to the growth of urban sprawl in the area, causing flood and erosion hazards in some communities. Goal and Objectives: This study aimed to assess the spatial distribution of land use types in the master plan, determine the land cover change between the year of master plan production and the present year, and assess the development of Ibeju-Lekki in relation to the master plan. Methodology: The analogue format of the master plan was obtained, georeferenced, and converted into a vector format (ESRI Shapefile) for spatial analysis. Multi-spectral images (Landsat images) were obtained for the years 2009 and 2023 to detect changes in land cover and development in the study area. Results: The results showed that residential land use had the largest spatial extent on the master plan, but it will soon be congested due to increased industries. Built-up areas, bare land, and wetlands increased between 2009 and 2023, while vegetation and water bodies declined. The highest development occurred on residential land use between 2009 and 2023, with unplanned development in fragile and conserved areas like lagoons, green areas, flood basins, open space, and eco-tourism. The study recommends vulnerability assessment of altered areas in the master plan and reevaluation to accommodate the changes occurring in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos State. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Majasto village was designated by the government as a Religious Tourism Area through the Sukoharjo Regency Spatial Plan. However, to support this, Majasto Village does not have a good management system and regional planning of village-owned enterprises (Badan Usaha Milik Desa/Bumdes) to encourage its economic acceleration. This program aims to develop a tourism village area plan and optimal financial management for Bumdes. The method used is through mapping both physical and non-physical potentials of the village to obtain detailed information, which is done by conducting a mapping or survey to identify natural and artificial physical potential, as well as socioeconomic and historical aspects to understand the potential and problems through SWOT analysis. The results of this program are in the form of a Tourism Village Master Plan and a Priority Area Plan. The second result is the initiation of financial digitization training through Bumdes Financial Accounting System. This is done to ensure that Bumdes can record transactions and financial reporting properly. The integration of the development of Bumdes business unit based on the Tourism Village Master Plan and the Priority Area Plan (the first stage result) and the Bumdes Profile (the second stage result).

The Nizam Zachman Jakarta Ocean Fishing Port (PPSNZJ), the largest fishing port in Indonesia, is currently experiencing overcapacity. This results in ships being moored in rows parallel to berths, indicating the insufficient number of berths in the port. This configuration poses a safety hazard due to the proximity of the moored ships, making it challenging to evacuate them in the event of a fire or other natural disasters. This study was conducted to propose an alternative concept for facility development in urban ocean fishing ports, with PPSNZJ as a study case. The study included a site visit to understand the actual berthing configuration of ships, data collection from the port technical execution unit, and observation of existing fish cargo handling operations. The collected data was analyzed to determine berth capacity and storage productivity, which was used to calculate the number of additional berths required to accommodate loading, unloading, and mooring ships. Based on the design calculations, an alternative development layout is proposed, which fulfils the berth capacity and safety requirements. Salah satu indicator majunya suatu desa yaitu dapat dilihat dari perencanaan desa dalam pengelolaan potensi desa. Saat ini, telah diketahui bahwa potensi pariwisata tumbuh sangat pesat, sehingga perlu menggali potensi wisata pada masing-masing desa. Sehingga penting sekali melakukan overview potensi desa baik dalam jangka pendek, menengah dan panjang. Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk membantu pengembangan Desa Wisata Wonorejo melalui penyusunan masterplan sehingga mempermudah langkah penyusunan kebijakan terkait pengembangan desa wisata. Metode yang digunakan yaitu pengkajian karakter dan potensi desa dilanjutkan dengan FGD dan perancangan masterplan diawali pradesain, desain, dan terakhir penyerahan masterplan ke kepala desa. Hasil penelitian ini berupa masterplan berprinsip triple helix yang melibatkan masyarakat, pemerintah, dan akademisi, serta menggunakan konsep Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) sehingga memudahkan pemerintah desa dalam menentukan program prioritas pembangunan desa wisata dan memberdayakan masyarakat agar mandiri dalam menyelesaikan problematika yang ada. Dengan demikian, percepatan pembangunan Desa Wisata Wonorejo dapat terealisasi dengan optimal.

Desa Adat Tegallalang, Kabupaten Gianyar, Bali, memiliki beberapa tempat yang menjadi wadah kegiatan adat bagi masyarakat yang hingga kini senantiasa menjaga budaya warisan leluhur. Seiring meningkatnya kesadaran warga dalam menjalankan tugas dan kewajiban di desa adat, dibutuhkan pula peningkatan pelayanan dan kenyamanan bagi masyarakat adat. Dalam upaya meningkatkan pelayanan terhadap masyarakat, maka dilakukan penataan dan penambahan fasilitas di Pura Puseh lan Desa, Desa Adat Tegallalang. Untuk mendukung rencana penataan pura, harus disertai dengan perencanaan yang baik berupa gambar masterplan dan kelengkapannya. Kolaborasi tim Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dengan pihak mitra menjadi kunci dari keberhasilan kegiatan ini, sehingga permasalahan yang ada di lapangan dapat dicarikan solusi secara bersama-sama. Keberhasilan memenuhi target capaian berupa gambar masterplan, diharapkan bermanfaat sebagai pedoman bagi desa adat dalam proses penataan, pembuatan Rencana Anggaran Biaya, serta dapat digunakan sebagai kelengkapan pengajuan proposal penggalian dana penataan pura.

Current adaptation theory tends to consider individual buildings or the city level, which cannot address decisions related to masterplan developments on large brownfield sites. This paper investigates the drivers for building demolition or retention and adaptation decisions at the masterplan scale. Expert interviews and three case studies are used to explore how and why decisions to demolish, or to retain and adapt, are made at this scale. The research compared three different geopolitical contexts: Cambridge in the UK; Eindhoven in the Netherlands; and Sydney in Australia. Additional factors and complexities that should be considered at the masterplan scale are identified. The theoretical underpinnings of urban development processes are used to explain these complexities in relation to four existing models and demonstrate that no one model is adequate to describe the interactions. With increasing awareness of climate change impacts, it is critical that demolition decisions on masterplan developments are reviewed in the light of retaining carbon as well as heritage. Practice relevance This research demonstrates the different and specific concerns applying to demolition and retention on masterplan scale sites compared with the individual building scale. Although the evidence shows that decisions are context specific, the criteria as identified and categorised within this research offer a useful tool for stakeholders when establishing their priorities and approaches to decisions to demolish or retain and adapt within a masterplan context. This should help to avoid contested decisions and can help community groups hoping to have an influence over the long-term decisions, as well as developers looking to retain good relationships with the local community. The identified criteria can support planners and local authorities responsible for approving masterplan developments to better understand the factors relevant to each decision, including the importance of retaining flexibility throughout to enable response to changing circumstances.

Doktor Mengabdi merupakan program yang dilaksanakan pada tahun 2020 dan berlokasi di Desa Hargotirto dan Hargowilis, Kecamatan Kokap, Kabupaten Kulon Progo, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. Pengembangan desa wisata bertujuan untuk menarik wisatawan agar mengunjungi desa tersebut sehingga dapat meningkatkan pendapatan. Desa Hargotirto dan Hargowilis memiliki beragam potensi baik sumber daya alam maupun sumber daya manusia yang dapat dikembangkan. Keduanya memiliki beberapa destinasi wisata yang menarik minat wisatawan. Namun masih terdapat permasalahan yaang perlu dicarikan solusinya agar sektor pariwisata di kedua desa tersebut dapat optimal. Program Doktor Mengabdi ini dilaksanankan dengan kegiatan Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) kolaborasi UGM, ITB dan Enhance project. Program tersebut menghasilkan dua masterplan dengan beberapa output, yaitu executive summary, leaflet, dan booklet. Output yang telah dihasilkan dari program ini diharapkan dapat berguna dan bermanfaat bagi pemerintah setempat serta masyarakat sebagai rekomendasi dalam merencanakan dan mengatasi permasalahan yang ada di Desa Hargotirto dan Hargowilis sebagai desa pariwsata.

Mangrove and Proboscis Conservation Area (MPCA) is a mangrove ecosystem and rehabilitation site for proboscis monkeys in Tarakan City, North Kalimantan Province, Indonesia. This location is an ecotourism destination in Indonesia with sub-optimal management. This study aims to develop MPCA ecotourism through several analyses, including suitability analysis as an ecotourism destination, carrying capacity analysis, and analyzing ecotourism concepts and master plans. The results showed that 91% of the total MPCA area was suitable as an ecotourism area. Activities that can be developed are tracking mangroves and proboscis monkeys with a carrying capacity of 203 people per day, bird watching with a carrying capacity of 194 people per day, river boating, and beach recreation with a carrying capacity of 382 people per day. The MPCA ecotourism destination has a maximum capacity of 90 visitors per hour or 1,170 people per day. This research also resulted in 9 management strategies that can be implemented in the development of ecotourism in Tarakan City MPCA. The formulation of the master plan is focused on the design and placement of 13 facilities and infrastructure to support the achievement of an ecotourism area that is comfortable for visitors and sustainable. The article discusses a variety of issues, concerning functional zoning. These questions are being considered, starting from the wide-scale urban territories and up to small private plots and dwellings. The urban planning and design are being analyzed in accordance to the main classification features, i.e., in accordance to the number of population, planning schemes and planning structures. It is noted, that in the long run, the principles of zoning are highly dependent in the above-mentioned points of a master planning. The functional zoning of individual houses or flats are being considered with nearly the same method adopted. A dwelling division to functional zones depends upon its size, number of occupants, personal desires, etc.

Human history is marked by a dramatic dialectic of “destruction” and “reconstruction”, the record of which has itself often been lost. Yet memories of tragic destructions and often heroic reconstructions remain ingrained in the history, archaeology, and myths of all civilizations. Whereas the predominant contemporary ideology of architecture seems to prefer “deconstruction” and the consecration of an imagery of fragmentation and desolation, the Reconstruction of Aleppo project proposes a traditional strategy of material and moral reconstruction. Such reconstruction seeks not only to repair and recompose the form and meaning of homes and places but also to allow for reconciliation and healing, as well as confidence and identity.

The author reviews the history of the birth of the master plan for the socialist city of Magnitogorsk in connection with new publications and new design materials. An attempt is made to expand the boundaries of the version of the competition for Soviet and German specialists, the value of all planning projects created in the 1929-1930s is highlighted, and the need for preservation and development of the quarter No. 1 of the Socialist City as a world famous urban planning monument is again pointed out.

The Master Plan of 1967 was born with a clear vocation: to adapt the growth of the city to the new urban legislation that arises under the Ley del Suelo de 1956. This adaptation had as a fundamental figure of soil management not built partial planning, and it will be this figure that regulates the big bags of soil in the city. The coordinated impulse of the municipal administration and the college of architects will allow projecting simultaneously all the areas, generating a great variety of solutions by a very heterogeneous group of professionals.

This study introduces the issue of campus planning and the architecture implanted in it. The main aim of this research is to record and interpret the project of campus of Universidade Estadual de Londrina (UEL), in Paraná, and assess your current situation. To achieve this aim, this research it is divided into three stages, based on the documentary research, bibliographic research and primary data collection. The results indicate that the campus analyzed shows several problems, which are confirmed by user evaluation. This study contributes to discussion of urban planning and architectural planning on the campus scale for the review process and update of UEL´s masterplan, as well as in the design of new campuses. The democratization of discussions about urban planning and management is a relatively recent process. It is based on the articles 182 and 183 of the 1988 Brazilian Federal Constitution and Law 10,257/2001 (City Statute), which consolidated the Master Plans as a basic instrument of the developmental policy and urban expansion of municipalities and made popular participation mandatory during its design and implementation. Aim: To understand how the participatory experiences were during the Master Plans revision process in different Brazilian municipalities in consequence of the obligatoriness established by Law 10.257/2001. Methodology: The methodologic procedure was a systematic review of academic researches (theses and dissertations) on Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations - BDTD, data collected from participatory proceeding, systematization, and analysis of the results. Results: The review identified: (1) the main characteristics of the researches in terms of their structure, area of knowledge, keywords, (2) the instruments of democratic management provided for the urban legislation and the respective participatory tools proposed by the Ministry of Cities and adopted by the evaluated municipalities, and (3) the main difficulties faced, as well as the advances and potentialities of including participation in urban planning and management. Discussion: This research found out that the adoption of the instruments of democratic management, as well as the participatory tools, for a large number of studied municipalities do not support establishing that the participatory processes were effective, as a consequence of events that weakened them. This paperillustrates a program to plan a green patch of Ciliwung river landscape througha participatory process involving the community in Condet, East Jakarta. It isbelieved that native knowledge of the river and the riparian, which can only berevealed by the locals, becomes significant to understanding the dynamics ofthe place and to generating a masterplan. Through interviews, focus groupdiscussion and participatory mapping, their everyday experience in utilizingthe landscape can be recognized. Instead of concrete revetment and heightenedlevees along the river, native vegetation is identified and developed, as it isconsidered as key in restoring the ecosystem and generating programs on thelandscape. The landscape will display the natural process and at the same timeprovide a place for social and recreational activities. By utilizing the nativeknowledge of the people, the masterplan of the green patch becomes moreresponsive and fit to the ecological, cultural, and social research. Fosteringthe commitment and active role of the community in every phase of the planningturns into an important aspect to ensuring the implementation andsustainability of the program. This program will support the aim of thecommunity and will strengthen the identity of Condet as a site for ecology, andwill eventually support the conservation program in Ciliwung Condet.

This article explores how idealized architectural plans are negotiated in relation to the practical concerns and socio-cultural conditions of modern and contemporary Korea. As a case study, it focuses on analyzing the masterplans of Yonsei University, one of the key universities that illustrate the architectural modernity of Korea, as well as reflecting the continual interactions between different agents of power within and outside the country. Particular attention is given to the evolution of the university′s masterplans at four different points in time: the plans proposed in 1917, 1925, 1957, and 1970 respectively, all of which are compared to the 2016 map. The 1917 plan is a product made by an American architect—Henry K. Murphy—who proposed a design without visiting the site. Such a process lacking tactile engagement resulted in generating an overly western-style and also an ′ideal′ plan that does not adequately respond to actual site conditions. While the 1925 and 1957 plans are updated versions that are based on Murphy′s site visits, they still seem idealized to a great degree. It is rather the last two maps—1970 and 2016 plans—where one can detect how they manifest themselves for the changing conditions of modern and contemporary Korea; a number of those working at the university participated in the design process, which focused on generating more realistic strategies in response to South Korea′s ′compressed modernity′. Our in-depth visual analysis of the Yonsei masterplans shows how idealized plans are negotiated and reworked, thereby reflecting realistic demands for university life in material ways.

Di Indonesia, air limbah domestik merupakan pencemar terbesar yang masuk ke badan air. Pemantauan dan pengendalian air buangan dapat dilakukan salah satunya dengan meningkatkan pelayanan dalam hal sanitasi. Pemerintah menetapkan target terhadap tahun 2015-2019 antara lain 100% capaian pelayanan akses air minum, 0% proporsi rumah tangga yang menempati hunian dan permukiman tidak layak (kumuh) di kawasan perkotaan dan 100% capaian pelayanan akses sanitasi. Perencanaan masterplan ini bertujuan untuk menyediakan fasilitas sanitasi yang memadai dalam pengelolaan air limbah domestik terutama di wilayah perkotaan Kabupaten Sukoharjo. Masterplan ini akan mengkaji aspek teknis-teknologis dalam perencanaan pengelolaan air limbah domestik. Pada masterplan ini direncanakan akan dibangun 3 buah IPAL skala perkotaan dan 8 buah IPAL skala permukiman besar yang akan melayani 20% penduduk perkotaan Kabupaten Sukoharjo. IPAL skala perkotaan direncanakan terdapat 2 buah di Kecamatan Grogol dan 1 buah di Kecamatan Kartasura. IPAL skala permukiman besar direncanakan terletak di Kecamatan Kartasura, Kecamatan Gatak, 2 buah di Kecamatan Baki, masing-masing 1 buah di Kecamatan Bendosari, Gatak, Polokarto dan Kecamatan Sukoharjo. Selain itu, untuk pelayanan sistem setempat direncanakan 3 (tiga) daerah pelayanan IPLT yang dibangun secara bertahap. Tahap pertama yaitu optimalisasi IPLT Eksisting (IPLT Mojorejo), tahap kedua yaitu pembangunan IPLT di Desa Bekonang Kecamatan Mojolaban, dan tahap ketiga pembangunan IPLT di Desa Grajegan Kecamatan Tawangsari. IPLT direncanakan dapat melayani sekitar 70% penduduk perkotaan.

The paper presents the results of several substantiation studies concerning public facilities assessment for various Romanian municipalities, made in order to substantiate urban development plans. The study outlines main methodological steps for public amenities assessment emphasizing the importance of the territorial context, socio-economical context, as well the necessity of development of a compulsory legal frame at national level. The studies conducted by the authors tried to develop specific methodologies designated to assess public facilities provision at city level in order to propose their enhancement if case. The study compares different public facilities assessment conclusions for several cities in Romania and outlines that the average offer and need (public request) is generated by different elements (built and natural), not only the perceived urban barriers but also the unseen elements (as perceived neighbor hoods, sense of belonging of different urban areas). Also, one of the conclusions of this survey is that public amenities (green areas, education facilities, leisure, cultural health and transportation facilities) are one of the main features of urban structure that has to be addressed when planning development at urban or zone level. This focus on public amenities approach can substantiate development decisions at urban level, despite that it is the most disregarded element due to urban development pressures, especially within the new urban development areas. The paper deals with the issue of graphic representation in urban design as an artistic and technical field that is symbiotic to the field of architecture. The basic expression instrument of urban design (spatial planning) is the projection of 2D. The ability of an urban designer or urban planner to adequately present a design is, therefore, an element of the creative process that should be acquired during higher education. The aim of the research was to reveal the key parameters influencing the resulting effect of graphic processing of a masterplan drawing and a perspective drawing from a human perspective, as a typical urban expression element. The paper focuses more closely on examining the differences between hand based and computer graphic processing. A set of categories for a masterplan drawing and perspective views has been summarized for the purposes of research, which has been used to evaluate a sample of student works. The key research methods of data evaluation are comparison and correlation analysis. The results of the research summarize the advantages and the disadvantages of the hand based and computer graphic processing and the key graphic mistakes made in urban design students proposals. The main goal of the article is to show actions taken by the University of Warsaw in order to improve the quality of campus spaces, as well as to evaluate these actions. To gather information, the method research by design was used, because the author is an active participant of the planning process. The first part of the article describes the history and main features of three campuses – Centrum-Powiśle, Ochota and Służew – and the spatial ambitions of the university. Challenges facing higher education institutions are also presented. The second part of the article is intended to show the main tools and actions implemented to fulfil the ambition of the University of Warsaw. The main tool is a long-term investment program, co-financed by the government. It is a push factor for the university to rethink its spatial structure. Urban planning process is shown more specifically on the example of the Ochota Campus masterplan. In the third part of the article there is an assessment of activities carried out so far. It was found out that the long-term investment program is a good tool to increase the quality of campus space, it should, however, implement financing of public spaces as much as new buildings. It was also emphasized that the participation process should include neighbouring communities and not only people from the university. The (proposed) development of private sector-led, large-scale urban projects on the periphery of many African cities has drawn increased attention to the geographical breadth and potential consequences of the phenomena in recent years. This work demonstrates the speculative nature of many of these projects and their 'world-class city' aspirations, but also how such plans will exacerbate existing problems, including spatial inequality and environmental degradation. This paper, drawing on 50 interviews and extensive fieldwork, examines one such project in north-east Johannesburg, the Modderfontein New City. The paper responds to existing research and their calls for more grounded studies, and argues that given their distinct logics and developmental mechanisms, large-scale masterplanned edge cities can only truly be understood within the context of their place-specific urban landscapes, and that contrary to the prevailing arguments on this type of project, they do not always exist outside of ordinary governance structures. Supporting the (speculative) conclusions in earlier research, we demonstrate how the plans and early building looked to worsen spatial inequality and environmental problems. However, in highlighting how Modderfontein's failure is partly the product of a strong local state unwilling to compromise on their own agenda in the face of elite-driven edge city developments, we argue such large scale projects in Johannesburg face hitherto under-researched disciplining processes that can disrupt or even derail projects. Over the last two decades, Doha, the capital city of Qatar, has undergone rapid urbanization. The city has capitalized large-scale urban and infrastructural projects resulting in a loss of historical areas of heritage value to people. Recent construction of the Doha Metro is opening avenues for place-making of transit towns through a framework envisioned by the need to shape compact, livable and sustainable neighborhoods and to mitigate the effects of urbanization on valuable historical heritage sites. Due to its historic significance, the Qatar National Museum (QNM)-Souq Waqif corridor is the case study selected for exploring and defining a framework for a contextualized place-making transit-oriented development (TOD) model. The research design is structured by reviewing the literature about TODs and the need for place-making model in Qatar, followed by collecting visual data from municipal authorities, through site visits, and site observations. The data are then analyzed to propose a novel masterplan, rooted in key urban design components of place-making. The insights will contribute to proposals for context-driven design strategies to enhance livability of the site and to extend its application to other potential transit hubs in metropolitan Doha and in the Middle East.

In 2013 the foundation stone of a new campus of Ural Federal University was laid in the area of the lakes Shartash and Malyi Shartash. In 2016 its first stage will be put in commission. Construction started despite all compelling comments from ecologists, sociologists, transport specialists and architects. The architecture of premises also triggers a lot of questions among specialists. Building of the new UrFU campus “from scratch” is the third attempt within 100 years to create a student campus in Yekaterinburg (Sverdlovsk) by examples from the West. The first attempt to build the Mining Institute was a failure because of the revolution of 1917. Realization of the Ural Polytechnic Institute campus took 20 years. The future of the new UrFU campus is uncertain, but the construction is going ahead at full speed.
