Introduction: Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery is a common therapeutic intervention performed in patients with coronary artery disease. However, this operation has several postoperative complications; One of the most common complications after CABG surgery is right ventricular dysfunction. Therefore, the aim of this study is to evaluate RV deformations indices after CABG surgery. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed from 2019 to 2020 in the cardiac surgery ward of Farshchian Hospital in Hamadan. 40 patients with cardiac ischemia were studied as single vessel disease (SVD), two vessels disease (2VD) and three vessels disease (3VD) who were candidates for CABG surgery. All patients underwent color and tissue Doppler echocardiography and Strain RV imaging, before and one month after CABG. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 21 and a p-value less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant. Results: Among 40 patients (32 males and 8 female), the average age was 65.17 (SD 7.87) and average body mass index was 25.59 (SD 3.20). 4 patients underwent off-pump CABG surgery. Mean LVEF, SPAP, and RV diameter one month after CABG significantly increased compared with pre-surgery and TDI (SM), Strain RV (GLS), FAC, MPI RV, and TAPSE were decreased, which was less in the group B (3VD) than the first group (P 0.05). No significant correlation coefficient was observed between Strain RV changes and pump time. Conclusion: Changing the right ventricular geometry after CABG, leads to reduction of Longitudinal deformation while maintaining overall RV function. Therefore, it is recommended to consider lower normal values ​​for these indices after CABG to be taken.

Right ventricular (RV) function is unclear based on myocardial velocities before and after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. RV dysfunction is a known cause of hypotension in early CABG surgery. The diastolic function has been shown to be a significant contributor to mortality and cardiac morbidity in recent years. Our study aimed to assess RV diastolic dysfunction after CABG surgery. Methods: Forty-four patients with the two-vessel disease (2 VD), small vessel disease (SVD) and three-vessel disease (3 VD) facial ischemia candidates for CABG surgery were studied. All patients underwent colour Doppler and RV strain echocardiography before and one month after CABG surgery, and patients’ RV function indices were calculated. Data analysis was performed using SPSS 21 software and a value of PResults: Out of forty patients, the male to female ratio was 32:8 and their mean age was 65.17 ± 7.87 years and their mean body mass index was 25.59± 3.20. Four patients were operated on without pumps. One month after CABG, systolic pulmonary artery pressure (SPAP), left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) and RV Diameter indexes increased significantly. Fractional area change (FAC), RV global longitudinal strain (GLS), Tissue Doppler imaging systolic wave (SM), RV myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) and Tricuspid annular plane systolic excursion (TAPSE) decreased, which was less in the 3VD group than in the 1VD/2VD group (P Conclusion: RV diastolic function is significantly reduced after CABG surgery. Surgery without the pump can certainly not eliminate this dysfunction and be effective in reducing its severity.

Objectives: Intrabony defects are among the most important signs of progression of periodontal disease. Complete tissue regeneration is the ideal goal of periodontal treatment, and regenerative methods aim to achieve this goal. New studies have reported the positive efficacy of chitosan to enhance the recovery of bony defects. This study aimed to clinically and radiographically assess the efficacy of chitosan particles for treatment of intrabony periodontal defects. Materials and Methods: In this clinical trial, 18 intrabony three-wall periodontal defects were randomly divided into three groups (n=6). The control group only received conventional flap surgery with a sulcular incision. In the second group, low molecular weight (100,000-300,000g/mol) chitosan was used in the three-wall intrabony defects during surgery while high molecular weight chitosan particles (600,000-800,000 g/mol) were used in the third group. The probing pocket depth (PPD), clinical attachment level (CAL) and radiographic defect depth (RDD) were measured at baseline and at 6 and 12 months later. Repeated measures ANOVA, and McNemar’s test were used for statistical analysis. Results: In both the control (P0.05). No significant difference was noted on radiographs between the groups regarding the regenerated bone density. Conclusion: Chitosan showed no positive efficacy for treatment of three-wall periodontal bone defects.

Background: Child perception questionnaire (CPQ) assessing the oral health-related quality of life (OHQoL) of children is a widely-used instrument in the field. However, the instrument has not undergone validation and psychometric evaluation in Iranian population of children. The study aimed at examining the construct validity and testing the reliability of CPQ-16 in 7-12-year-old Persian-speaking elementary schoolers.Methods: From two main cities in 2018, Iran, 708 mother-child dyads were enrolled in this cross-sectional study. Questionnaires were executed via interviewer-administered method. DMFT and dmft indexes were examined for divergent validity. Two built-in indexes of overall oral health (OOH) and overall well-being (OW) were used for concurrent validity. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) with Geomin rotation, Cronbach’s alpha, and Spearman’s correlation were executed. Results: Overall, 695 data entered the analysis. Children’ mean age was 9.72 (1.36) years. EFA indicated 11 items to compose three eligible factors, including oral problems, emotional problems, and social problems. Except for social well-being and emotional well-being, all OHQoL variables were correlated. CPQ-16, CPQ-11, and the subscales indicated significant relationships with overall oral health, except for social wellbeing. CPQ-11 compared to CPQ-16 showed a slightly higher correlation with OOH index. Only CPQ-11 and emotional well-being indicated significant associations with OW index. Whereas only emotional well-being indicated high DMFT, the CPQ-16, CPQ-11 and oral problems were associated with dmft. Cronbach’s alpha was 0.66. Conclusions: Further research on clinical sample is needed. Practitioners are suggested employing CPQ to multi-dimensionally examine the children’s’ oral health needs.

Gossypiboma is derived from two Latin and Swahili words including gossypium (cotton) and boma [place of concealment] (1). It is a kind of retained foreign body (RFB) following surgery (2). It causes two types of reaction including exudative inflammatory reaction and aseptic fibrotic reaction. The first type causes reaction to the material of sponge and presents as a mass in the body. The second forms an abscess and results in early diagnosis, leading to surgical removal (3).
