Language and digital marketing have an important and effective role to introduce to choose and buy products. Apart from being able to reach a wider audience, digital marketing makes it easier for potential customers to order and/or buy products. Language in promotions can also affect the perceptions and impressions of potential consumers. Service partners (knitting students) are aware of the role of language and digital marketing as promotional tools to increase turnover. Some social media and digital marketing have been used as promotional tools by partners (knitting students). It is hoped that the assistance provided by the PkM Team will continue and be developed both in terms of language and digital marketing. It is also hoped that this service activity can inspire other business units and introduce HMPS PBSI products or SMEs more broadly, nationally and even internationally.

Practice teaching, indisputably, is one of the school activities distorted significantly due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Practice teachers should adapt online learning to convey teaching and learning activities. This study aimed at finding out the internet device (wi-fi) available at schools in Pekanbaru municipality and learning media used by practicum teachers with the stable internet connectivity at schools in Pekanbaru municipality. There were 47 out of 51 English Education Students of Universitas Lancang Kuning involved in this research. They filled in 27 items of close-ended questions in the Likert scale. The findings revealed that most schools (83%) had wi-fi devices accessed by practicum teachers for teaching activities. With this device, practice teachers used more diverse applications (Google Classroom, Google Form, and Zoom video conference) more frequently (often), shown in the mean score of 4.0, to convey learning materials and tasks delivery. In schools with unstable internet connectivity, they chose the Whattsapp application to convey learning activities, including the delivery of the tasks. In conclusion, the availability of a wi-fi device with stable internet connectivity supports practice teachers in conducting online teaching activities during the pandemic. They can maximize the use of more diverse applications, namely Google Classroom, Google Form, and Zoom conference

Recently, there has been a phenomenon of reclaiming cultures other than those of the target language in English language teaching (ELT). This qualitative research explores intercultural topics in Indonesian ELT classrooms that are shown along with the target and global cultures. The research involves four English teachers from two Indonesian universities who have intercultural experience studying in universities overseas. Data were collected through observational fieldnotes, interview guides, audio recordings, and compilation of documents. The study reveals that local and neutral culture topics have functioned as templates to contextualize target and global cultures in Indonesian ELT classrooms in order to develop students’ intercultural awareness of local, target, and global cultures.

WRITING SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES AND PUBLICATIONS TRAINING IN JOURNALS FOR TEACHERS OF SMAN 4 TUALANG, SIAK REGENCY. The training of the article writing and journal publication was held in SMAN 4 Tualang, Kabupaten Siak-Riau due to teachers’ problems covering the lack of article writing knowledge, low motivation and awareness of the importance of conducting research and its dissemination particularly for teachers’ professional development. Moreover, the teachers did not know much about journals information whereby they could publish their article writing. Therefore, the outreach community team from Faculty of Education and Teachers’ training, Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru conducted this program in order to solve the teachers’ problems. This training was conducted in one day (8 hours) consisting of two sessions. In the first session (8-12 a.m.), the participants were given the materials about the essence, elements, and knowledge of article writing followed by making article draft (how to make a good title, abstract and introduction). In the second session (1-5 p.m.), the trainer gave materials pertaining to how to deal with publication process from registration, login, and article online submission in journals. The simulations were given as the trainer guided the participants to register to ELT Lectura FKIP Unilak Journal, Bio-Lectura Journal, and Lectura: Journal Pendidikan UNILAK, login, check and read information in the journals. In short, this training facilitated the SMAN 4 Tualang teachers’ knowledge and skills of article writing and they know how to publish their articles. The outreach team suggests future outreach community program conduct the same activity since there are many school teachers need the training of article writing and publication in journals.

Madrasah Aliyah, which prioritizes the mastery of two foreign languages, both English and Arabic (a language that is closely related to Islamic law) requires the equivalence of knowledge in the two foreign languages, especially in Islamic terms. The Students must be able to communicate in English and be able to become preachers on a global scale. For this reason, the community service team from FKIP Universitas Lancang Kuning needs to carry out a workshop on the project of a bilingual dictionary of Islamic terms through project-based learning for students of MAN 1 Kampar. The team has conducted a workshop via zoom meeting for 70 minutes and continued with intensive discussions via WhatsApp for 6 weeks. The results show the participants can understand the steps of compiling a dictionary well and are expected to finish compiling the projected dictionary. Finally, the team concluded that the training for the project of the Islamic terms bilingual dictionary for students could provide them with knowledge, understanding and ability to compile and complete the dictionary., Madrasah Aliyah yang mengedepankan penguasaan dua bahasa asing baik Inggris dan Arab (bahasa yang erat dengan syariat Islam) sangat memerlukan equivalensi pengetahuan dalam dua bahasa asing tersebut terutama dalam istilah-istilah keislaman. Siswa/i madrasah Aliyah harus mampu mengkomunikasikannya dalam bahasa Inggris dan bisa menjadi juru dakwah dalam skala global. Untuk itu, tim pengabdian FKIP Universitas Lancang Kuning perlu melaksanakan workshop penyusunan kamus dwibahasa istilah keislaman melalui pembelajaran berbasis proyek untuk siswa/i MAN 1 Kampar. Tim pengabdian melaksanakan workshop dengan zoom meeting selama 70 menit dan dilanjutkan dengan diskusi intensif via Whatsapp selama 6 minggu. Hasil kegiatan ini menunjukkan para peserta memahami langkah-langkah penyusunan kamus dengan baik dan diharapkan dapat menyelesaikan penyusunan kamus. Akhirnya, tim pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa kegiatan pelatihan penyusunan kamus dwi bahasa istilah keislaman bagi siswa/i MAN 1 Kampar dapat memberikan pengetahuan, pemahaman dan kemampuan kepada peserta untuk menyusun dan menyelesaikan kamus.

Aiming to advance our understanding of the transformative potential of remunicipalisation, this paper looks at the uncertain and unequal struggle for water remunicipalisation in Jakarta over the last 20 years, and offers an ontological account of the discourse on the human right to water as a catalyst for progressive policy change. A first, formal definition of transformative remunicipalisation is herein offered. This is defined as an ideal type of water remunicipalisation whose institutional legitimacy rests on the moral advocacy of emancipatory insurgency and whose implementation offers concrete possibilities of progress towards emancipatory objectives. With regard to moral advocacy and collective action, the hybridisation of emancipatory discourse enables transcendence of the limitations of the Western concept of the human right to water. By drawing on cross-cultural principles like 'water as life' and the primacy of human flourishing, the proponents of transformative remunicipalisation may turn the human right to water into a powerful discursive resource responding to Southern, if not universal, logics of appropriateness. While water justice is the terrain of inevitable contestation, the tensions between the normative ideals of collective action and the practice of advocacy require the constant reinterpretation of these ideals. This is why water justice, and indeed transformative remunicipalisation, will not be televised.

Pelaksanaan pembelajaran di Indonesia dalam menghadapi masa covid-19 menuntut guru untuk tetap berperan aktif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mendeskripsikan peran guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik serta untuk mengetahui faktor-faktor pendukung dan penghambat proses pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan peran guru dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik selama masa pandemi covid-19 yaitu 1) pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara luring atau BDR, 2) menciptakan suasana belajar yang menyenangkan, 3) menggunakan metode pembelajaran yang bervariasi, 4) penerapan media pembelajaran menggunakan laptop dan fasilitas belajar yang ada di rumah, 5) memperlihatkan hasil belajar, 6) pemberian motivasi, tugas, pujian dan hukuman atas hasil kerja peserta didik, 7) melakukan penilaian, 8) menjalin kerjasama antara guru dan orang tua. Sedangkan yang menjadi faktor utama pendukung guru guna meningkatkan kembali minat belajar peserta didik adalah dengan memanfaatkan fasilitas rumah yang mendukung pembelajaran dan sarana belajar. Kemudian yang jadi faktor utama penghambat guru adalah keterbatasan waktu yang dimiliki guru dan juga peserta didik saat melaksanakan proses belajar mengajar. Abstract The implementation of learning in Indonesia in facing the Covid-19 required teachers to increase students' interest in learning. This research aimed to describe the role of the teacher in increasing students' interest in learning and finding the supporting and inhibiting factors of the learning process. The method used was descriptive qualitative. The results indicated that the teachers’ role in increasing students' interest in learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, namely 1) learning carried out offline or BDR, 2) creating a pleasant learning atmosphere, 3) using a variety of learning methods, 4) implementing learning media using laptops and learning facilities at home, 5) showing the learning outcomes, 6) giving motivation, reports, and authority over the students’ works, 7) doing an assessment, 8) establishing cooperation between teachers and parents. Meanwhile, the main factor supporting teachers to increase students' interest in learning was utilizing home facilities that support the learning process. The main factor inhibiting the teacher was the limited time that the teacher and students have when carrying out the teaching and learning process.

This classroom action research investigates how YouTube videos containing pronunciation drills exposed by English native speakers develop the EFL students’ phonological appropriation. This activity also relates to developing classroom-based materials via accessing various relevant resources inside and outside the classroom as they are available in the information, communication and technology (ICT) era now. The study was based on the problems that the students got difficulties in English Phonology class pertaining to the segmental, supra-segmental phonemes and phonological contrast. It is all about the phonology complex rules that students have to understand and drill in a very short meeting hour (2 credits course- 2x45 minutes per meeting). The participants of the study were the fourth semester students (class F) of English Education Department of Faculty of Education, Lancang Kuning University in Riau. The study was conducted from March to May 2014 only in one cycle consisting of seven meetings. The study reveals that using such YouTube videos could improve students’ phonological appropriation and assist them in understanding the complex rules of English phonology class since they had been experienced with English native-speakers as the models for their pronunciation learning and practices as they could access them in YouTube. Penguasaan metodologi penelitian merupakan hal penting bagi mahasiswa dimana mereka dituntut untuk mampu melakukan penelitian sebagai bagian dari kegiatan akademik. Beragam metode penelitian mempunyai cara berbeda dalam teknik pengumpulan data. Salah satunya adalah metode survei yang banyak digunakan peneliti dimana angket atau kuesioner selalu dipakai sebagai teknik pengumpulan data. Namun, berdasarkan fakta yang ditemukan banyak mahasiswa peneliti yang belum memahami secara jelas bagaimana merancang, menggunakan, dan menganalisa angket dengan benar. Hal ini menjadi permasalahan mahasiswa prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris Fakultas Keguruan dan Ilmu Pendidikan Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru bahwa mereka masih belum memahami secara jelas teknis pembuatan angket yang layak untuk dipakai sebagai instrumen pengumpulan data penelitian dan bagaimana mengolah data yang diperoleh dari angket. Oleh karena itu, tim pelaksana pengabdian merasa perlu untuk melaksanakan kegiatan pelatihan yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan serta memperkaya pengetahuan mahasiswa melalui pelatihan/workshop untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini. Kegiatan ini dilakukan selama 1 hari yang berlangsung selama 4,5 jam dan dibagi menjadi 2 sesi. Pada sesi pertama, mahasiswa diberikan topik dan materi pembuatan angket beserta contohnya. Selanjutnya, pada sesi kedua peserta diberikan penugasan membuat angket dibimbing langsung oleh tim pelaksana pengabdian. Penyelesaian tugas pelatihan dilanjutkan diluar sesi selama dua minggu dengan bimbingan online via grup WhatsApp. Dengan adanya kegiatan ini, dapat dilihat bahwa peserta pelatihan memahami langkah-langkah pembuatan instrumen angket dan dapat menyelesaikan tugas-tugas pelatihan yang diberikan kepada mereka. Mahasiswa mampu membuat angket penelitian sendiri dan dapat digunakan untuk kepentingan pengumpulan data untuk penyelesaian tugas akhir mereka. Kata kunci: Pelatihan, pembuatan angket, FKIP, Prodi Bahasa Inggris ABSTRACT Research methodology is a pivotal thing to students-researchers since they are required to conduct a lot of scientific research in academic settings. Different research methods result to different ways of data collection techniques. In fact, survey design has been frequently used along with the questionnaire as the common instrument to collect data. However, many students-researchers have not fully understood how to construct/design, use and analyze a questionnaire well. This similar case happened to the English students in the Faculty of Education and Teachers Training in Universitas Lancang Kuning Pekanbaru. Therefore, the outreach program team from the faculty intended to solve the problem by conducting a workshop in order to upgrade the students-researchers’ knowledge and understanding of how to construct and analyze a questionnaire. The workshop was done in one day within the duration of 4.5 hours with two sessions. In the first session, the presenters gave the students the workshop topic and materials in terms of how to design and analyze a questionnaire. In the second session, the students were guided to construct a questionnaire and it then was continued with two weeks’ task completion. The presenters also facilitated the students with the online discussion via WhapsApp group. As a matter of fact, the students-researchers gradually understand and know how to construct a questionnaire. They could construct their own research instruments for the sake of their data collection to complete the thesis writing. This study highlights the internal conversation which takes place in Oracle CorporationMalaysia. Through the study, it will be shown how conversational analysis is used toanalyze the transcription of a telephone conversation between Oracle staffs. The analysisof the transcriptions will apply a few basic concepts of conversational analysis; turntakingorganization, and the adjacency pair. The objective of the study is to find out howthe internal conversations takes place by focusing on the conversation itself, that is, theconversational structures spontaneously produced by people during talk ranging fromturn-taking strategies, how topics are introduced, conversation closings and so on. Bylooking in detail at such talk, we can gain a detailed understanding of how the staffs seethemselves in relation to the company that influence their daily lives.Keywords: conversational analysis, turn-taking, adjacency pairs

Brachionus plicatilis merupakan jenis zooplankton yang berperan penting sebagai pakan hidup bagi berbagai jenis ikan yang dibudidayakan. Keunggulan Brachionus plicatilis sebagai pakan adalah ukurannya kecil (150-220 µm), berenang lambat sehingga mudah dimangsa oleh larva, waktu kultur relatif singkat, laju reproduksi tinggi, kandungan gizi cukup tinggi serta dapat diperkaya dengan asam lemak dan antibiotik. Ragi merupakan jenis pakan alternatif bagi Brachionus plicatilis yang umumnya digunakan apabila kultur fitoplankton tidak mencukupi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh dosis pakan ragi metode tetes yang terbaik untuk kepadatan Brachionus plicatilis dan dilaksanakan pada bulan September 2014, di Balai Perikanan Budidaya Laut Ambon. Penelitian ini menggunakan RAL yang terdiri dari tiga perlakuan dosis ragi yaitu A=0,3 gram, B=0,6 gram dan C= 0,9 gram dengan kepadatan awal Brachionus plicatilis sebanyak 50 ind/ml setiap perlakuan. Setiap perlakuan dilakukan sebanyak tiga kali ulangan. Hasil penelitian mendapatkan puncak kepadatan Brachionus plicatilis terjadi pada hari kedelapan yaitu dosis 0,9 gram dengan kepadatan sebesar 102 ind/ml, dosis 0,6 gram dengan kepadatan 52 ind/ml dan dosis 0,3 gram dengan kepadatan 29 ind/ml. Analisa statistik mendapatkan dosis ragi 0,9 gram memberikan pertumbuhan yang lebih baik bagi Brachionus plicatilis . Parameter lingkungan mendukung pertumbuhan Brachionus plicatilis .

This descriptive and analytical study aimed at exploring the phenomenon of code-switching between Informal Indonesian (INF-I) and English exhibited in the classroom speech of the students at English Education Department of Faculty of Education and Teachers Training Lancang Kuning University in Pekanbaru-Riau. The main discussion of code-switching (CS hereafter) is the students’ reasons for employing CS. The data was collected by recording the students’ speech which was then transcribed as conversational data and by conducting unstructured interview. The research was conducted particularly in formal situations; in Speaking I classes involving sixty students of the first year. This study found that in formal situations such as in ELT contexts, the students’ reasons for CS were as compensatory strategy for the deficiency, as a language negotiation, as extended explanation, as an expression of solidarity, as flexibility of expression and as translation. These all reasons were primarily pertinent to fulfill communicative needs and communicative strategies.
