The so-called Higuchi’s method of fractal dimension estimation is widely used and the term Higuchi’s fractal dimension even occurs in many publications. This paper deals with this method from a mathematical point of view. Terms distance and dimension and its basic properties are explained and Higuchi’s dimension according the original source is defined. The definition of Higuchi’s dimension was compared with the mathematical definition of distance and dimension. It is shown, that the definition of Higuchi’s dimension does not satisfy axioms of distance and dimension. The so-called Higuchi’s method and Higuchi’s dimension are mathematically incorrect. Therefore, all results achieved by this method are scientifically unreliable.

The study of the complicated architecture of cell space structures is an important problem in biology and medical research. Optical cuts of cells produced by confocal microscopes contain a lot of information, however, most of this is unsubstantial for human vision. Therefore, it is necessary to use mathematical algorithms for the visualization of such images. Present software tools such as OpenGL or DirectX run quickly in a graphic station with special graphic cards, run very unsatisfactory on PC without these cards and outputs are usually poor for real data. These tools are black boxes for a common user and make it impossible to correct and improve them. With the method proposed, more parameters of the environment can be set. The quality of the output is incomparable to the earlier described methods and is worth increasing the computing time. We would like to offer mathematical methods of 3D scalar data visualization describing new algorithms that run on standard PCs very well.

Shape-from-Focus (SFF) methods have been developed for about twenty years. They able to obtain the shape of 3D objects from a series of partially focused images. The plane to which the microscope or camera is focused intersects the 3D object in a contour line. Due to wave properties of light and due to finite resolution of the output device, the image can be considered as sharp not only on this contour line, but also in a certain interval of height-the zone of sharpness. SSFs are able to identify these focused parts to compose a fully focused 2D image and to reconstruct a 3D profile of the surface to be observed.

The strength of rock structures strongly depends inter alia on surface irregularities of rock joints. These irregularities are characterized by a coefficient of joint roughness. For its estimation, visual comparison is often used. This is rather a subjective method, therefore, fully computerized image recognitionprocedures were proposed. However, many of them contain imperfections, some of them even mathematical nonsenses and their application can be very dangerous in technical practice. In this paper, we recommend mathematically correct method of fully automatic estimation of the joint roughness coefficient. This method requires only the Barton profiles as a standard.

Methods of fracture surface 3D reconstruction from a series of partially focused images acquired in a small field of view (e.g., by confocal microscope or CCD camera) are well known. In this case, projection rays can be considered parallel and recorded images do not differ in any geometrical transformation from each other. In the case of larger samples (oversized for microscope or CCD camera), it is necessary to use a wider viewing field (e.g., standard cameras); taken images primarily differ in scaling but may also differ in shifting and rotation.These images cannot be used for reconstruction directly; they must be registered; that is, we must determine all transformations in which the images differ and eliminate their effects.There are several ways to do this. This paper deals with the registration based on phase correlation.

Scans of porous materials such as concrete ofr cement paste are highly problematic due to its low depth resolution. We propose an averaging method based on the Lindeberg-Levi theorem that improves the final depth resolution.

This paper deals with 3D reconstructions of series of partially focused images. Some of these methods are known in case of images which were acquired is small field of view.

Tato práce pojednává o L-sytémech a jejich praktickém využití. Prácí můžeme pomyslně rozdělit na dvě části - teoretickou a aplikovanou. V teoretické části, tj. v první kapitole, se zabýváme samotnými L-systémy. Nachází se zde jejich zavedení a klasifikace. Aplikovaná část zahrnuje druhou a třetí kapitolu. Druhá kapitola obsahuje přehled využití L-systémů a třetí kapitola je věnována programu, který je součástí bakalářské práce, jeho popisu a návodu k použití., This work deals with L-systems and their practical utilization. The work can be devided into two parts - theoretical and applied. In the theoretical part, i.e. in the first chapter, the L-systems are discussed. There can be found their introduction and classification. Apllied part includes second and third chapter. Second chapter contains review of L-system's utilization and third chapter is dedicated to program attached to this work, his description and manual.

Tato práce se zabývá generování testovacích sub-pixelově posunutých obrazu se známým posuvem. Ty umožní najít vhodné parametry váhové funkce, díky nimž se zpřesní hledání posuvu dvou obrazu. Dále je využito konvoluce s proměnným jádrem ke generování obrazu se změněným měřítkem. K definici konvoluce pro obraz využíváme Fourierovu transformaci. Práce zahrnuje všechnu potřebnou teorii a je přiložen program, který slouží ke generování posunutých obrazů a obrazů se změněným měřítkem., This thesis is devoted to the creation of testing images with known sub-pixel shifts. Their purpose is to find suitable parameters of the weight function in order to refine the finding of the two image shift. Furthermore the variable convolution kernel is used to generate scale-changed images. We use the Fourier transform to define convolution on image. All the necessary theory is summarized in this thesis and the program, which was used to create shifted and scale-changed images, is also attached.

Budou navrženy metody vhodné pro měření Hausdorffovy dimenze množin zobrazených v konečném rozlišení výstupních zařízení počítače a jejich použitelnost bude otestována na množinách se známou Hausdorffovou dimenzí., Methods of Hausdorff dimension measurement of sets displayed in discrete output devices of computers will be proposed. Their usability will be tested on sets with known Hausdorff dimension.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá aplikací Harrisova detektoru rohů pro nalezení významných bodů v obrazech a modelech. Součástí práce je implementace algoritmů v programovacím jazyce Python. Programy jsou testovány na reálných obrazech získaných pomocí fotoaparátu a modelech získaných pomocí 3D skeneru., This bachelor’s thesis deals with application of Harris corner detector for finding corner points in images and models. This thesis also contains an implementation of the algorithms in Python programming language. Programs are tested on real images captured by camera and models created by 3D scanning.

V této bakalářské práci je proveden rozbor vztahů mezi polohou dalekohledu na azimutální montáži a mezi polohou objektu na obloze, přičemž se předpokládá, že poloha objektu na obloze je popsána rektascenzí a deklinací. Je zde také provedena analýza rozlišovacích schopností dalekohledu. K tomu byl vytvořen jednoduchý program (v příloze) pro výpočet difrakčních obrazců v ohniskové rovině z bodových hvězd. Na základě pohybu dalekohledu za sledovaným objektem jsou vyjádřeny také potřebné momenty a výkony vytvořené řízenými pohony montáže., This thesis is an analysis of the relationship between the position of the azimuthal telescope assembly and the position of the object in the sky, assuming that the position of the object in the sky is described right ascension and declination. There is also an analysis of the telescope resolution. For this purpose has created a simple program (attached to this thesis) to compute the diffraction patterns in the focal plane from point star. From motion of telescope tracing observed object are also expressed the necessary torque and power generated by controlled drives on mount.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá zobrazením geometrických ploch na počítači v rovnoběžném a středovém promítání. Práce obsahuje část matematické teorie potřebnou pro zavedení daných zobrazení. Jsou zde definovány důležité pojmy jako euklidovský a projektivní prostor, plochy a základní operace. Dále práce obsahuje popis tvorby aplikace pro zobrazení geometrických ploch za~použití vlastních procedur a funkcí (tzv. knihovny) v Delphi 7 a za použití knihovny OpenGL. Výsledkem práce je vlastní realizace popsaných postupů formou vytvoření aplikačního softwaru., The Bachelor thesis deals with display geometric surfaces on a computer in parallel projection and central projection. It includes part of mathematical theory which is necessary for definition of given projection. There are couple of important terms defined such as euclidean space, projective space, surfaces and elementary operations. The thesis also includes description of applications development for display geometric surfaces by using the author's own procedures and functions (so-called library) in Delphi 7 and by using OpenGL library. This Bachelor thesis result is the writer's own implementation of described processes by applications development.

Dále se v práci navrhuje několik metod, které se použijí na aproximaci fraktálních dimenzí různých množin zobrazených na zařízeních s konečným rozlišením. Tyto metody se otestují na takových množinách, jejichž dimenze známe, a na závěr se výsledky porovnávají., This master’s thesis deals with the theory of fractals and describes the diffculties of the fractal definition. We suggest some methods used for estimating fractal dimensions of various sets displayed in the finite-resolution computer output devices. Then, we test these methods on sets with known dimensions and discuss the results.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rekonstrukcí povrchu objektu s využitím konfokálního mikroskopu. Práce obsahuje část matematické teorie spojené s tímto problémem. Je zde vysvětlen matematický postup, kterým lze rekonstrukce povrchu objektu provést. Výsledkem práce je aplikační software, kterým je možné tuto rekonstrukci provést. It includes part of mathematical theory which is associated with this problem. The mathematical algorithm of the object surface reconstruction is illustrated. Tato práce se zabývá numerickým uspořádání vláken v tepelném výměníku. Tepelný výměník je naskenován v průmyslovém tomografu a získaná data jsou reprezentována polem voxelů. V práci je uveden postup trasování fragmentů vláken s využitím obrazové analýzy a následné numerické spojení těchto fragmentů. Výsledkem je množina vláken, které jsou reprezentovány pomocí bodů pole, kterými prochází., This paper deals with the topic of numerical arrangement of fibers in a heat exchanger. The heat exchanger is scanned in an industrial tomograph and the acquired data are represented by the field of voxels. The method used in this paper is based on tracing the fiber fragments through the use of image analysis and the subsequent numerical connection of the fragments. The result is a set of fibers that are represented by points in the field through which they are passing.

Holografická mikroskopie je nekonvenční mikroskopická technika, vhodná zvláště pro vzorky s malou optickou hustotou, která umožňuje zviditelnit index lomu pozorovaných objektů. Na Ústavu fyzikálního inženýrství Fakulty strojního inženýrství VUT v Brně byl sestrojen unikátní transmisní digitální holografický mikroskop (TDHM). Pořízené snímky (hologramy) jsou zpracovány metodou založenou na Fourierově ransformaci, čímž je zrekonstruována intenzita a fáze světelné vlny procházející pozorovaným objektem. Fáze popisuje index lomu a tloušťku pozorovaného objektu. V místech, kde se mění index lomu nebo tloušťka, dochází i ke změně fáze. Úkolem této bakalářské práce bylo najít metodu pro zviditelnění míst s vysokým gradientem fáze. Podařilo se vytvořit metodu, která nevyžaduje navazování fáze, a proto je vhodná pro libovolné obrazy pořízené TDHM. Tato metoda byla implementována do počítačového programu Gradient3D, který kromě výpočtu gradientu ve dvou a třech rozměrech umožňuje i vytváření barevných obrazů, jejichž složkami jsou kombinace intenzity, fáze a gradientu. Program též umožňuje odstranění falešných gradientů v místech s nízkou intenzitou, kde je hodnota fáze nespolehlivá. Program byl testován na několika souborech hologramů pořízených TDHM při pozorování biologických vzorků., Holographic microscopy is an unconventional microscopy technique suitable especially for transparent samples. It enables to visualize the refractive index of observed objects. A unique transmitted-light digital holographic microscope (TDHM) has been constructed at Institute of Physical Engineering, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Brno University of Technology. Holograms captured by the microscope are processed by means of a technique based on the Fourier transform in order to reconstruct the intensity and phase of the light waves passing through the observed object. The phase describes the object refractive index and thickness. In places where the object refractive index or thickness changes, also the phase does. The task of this bachelor thesis was to find a method for visualizing places with high phase gradient. A gradient computation method which was created does not require phase unwrapping and is therefore suitable generally for any images. The method was implemented in a computer software called Gradient3D, which enables not only to compute the phase gradient in two and three dimensions, but also to create color images composed from combinations of intensity, phase and gradient. It also contains methods for handling places with low reconstructed intensity where the phase value is unreliable and usually causes false phase gradients. The program has been tested on several image sets from the TDHM capturing biological specimens.

Cílem práce byla tvorba jehličnatého stromu nedestruktivní metodou umožňující popis struktury dospělého smrkového porostu. Z poskytnutých dat byl po jejich zpracování vytvořen model L-systému, kterým se vytvářely větve stromu. V algoritmu Python skriptu byly následně vygenerovány parametry nutné k vytvoření modelu stromu v grafickém softwaru Blender. Model jehličnatého stromu se podařilo úspěšně vygenerovat. Jeho paměťová náročnost je velká, ale pro účely vytvoření modelu to není zásadní problém., The thesis was focused on creation of a coniferous tree by nondestructive method allowing description of structure of adult spruce trees. After processing provided data we created a model of L-system which creates a tree branch. Thereafter, a Python script generated parameters which were required for the creation of the model of the tree in graphical software Blender. Model of coniferous tree was sucesfully generated. Its memory requirements are high but for our purposes this is not an essential problem.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá rotačními NURBS plochami. NURBS plochy jsou racionálním rozšířením B-spline ploch, což umožňuje zobrazení kuželoseček, a tedy i anuloidu, kulové plochy a dalších rotačních ploch. Součástí této práce je programové zpracování vytváření NURBS rotačních ploch ve formě aplikace včetně popisu použitých algoritmů., The goal of this bachelor’s thesis is to give an overview of NURBS surfaces of revolution. NURBS surfaces are rational B-spline surfaces, which allows for construction of conics, hence anuloid, sphere and other surfaces of revolution. The thesis also contains an application that can create NURBS surfaces of revolution and description of algorithms used.

V první části se práce zabývá projekcí bodů z Euklidova prostoru do roviny a zobrazením takto vzniklých rovinných bodů na počítači. Druhá část se zaměřuje na diskretizaci analyticky zadané plochy. To je její aproximace sítí bodů, které díky předchozí části dokážeme zobrazit na počítači. Třetí část se věnuje obarvení plochy různými typy výplně. Nakonec je přidáno softwarové řešení., The first part of the thesis deals with projections of points from an Euclidean space into a plane and displaying of the resulted planar points on a computer. The second part focuses on a discretization of analytically specified surfaces. This is an approximation with network points. Due to the previous part, we are able to display them on a computer. The third part is dedicated to various types of coating fillings. Finally, the software solution is added.
