- Abstract
Cronobacter spp. is a genus of Gram-negative bacteria belonging to the family Enterobacteriaceae. Species of the genus Cronobacter, particularly C. sakazakii, are implicated in the development of severe disease in newborns, which occurs with necrotizing enterocolitis, sepsis and meningitis. The disease has been frequently associated with powdered infant formula (PIF) and can therefore occur in the form of outbreaks. The genus Cronobacter has undergone extensive diversification in the course of its evolution, with some species being clearly pathogenic to humans while the impact of other species on human health is uncertain or unknown. Whole genome sequencing is used both in population genetic studies to identify the limited number of genotypes associated with the disease and to detect genes associated with antibiotic resistance or virulence, ultimately allowing more precise epidemiological links to be established between pediatric disease and infant foods., Cronobacter es un género de bacterias gramnegativas perteneciente a la familia Enterobacteriaceae.

Introduction: The symptomatology of eating disorders includes psychological and behavioral aspects with subclinical and long-standing eating concerns. These are a clear precursor to the development of established and often severe eating disorders. For this reason, it is crucial to investigate its antecedents and correlates to later inform the development of prevention programs. This article has been prepared with the main objective of providing Primary Care health professionals with the most up-to-date and relevant information for the early identification of eating behavior disorders (EDs), helping them to make the best decisions about the problems emerging in their practice. It seeks to join together the growing but still limited body of literature that advocates a greater emphasis on programs to prevent and anticipate the recognition of this group of disorders at the first level of the health system. Cow’s milk is a staple food for human consumption at all stages of life. Industrial processing has allowed widespread access to its consumption by the population, which has helped to significantly improve their health. From its composition point of view, milk is a complete and balanced food that provides high nutrient content in relation to its calorie content, so its consumption should be considered necessary from childhood to elderly. The benefits of cow’s milk are not limited to its nutritional value, but extend beyond and are a factor of prevention in certain non communicable pathologies as cardiovascular disease, some cancers, high blood pressure or bone or dental pathology. It can also help in the fight against childhood overweight and obesity. In recent years we have seen a worrying decline in milk consumption among the Spanish population, at least in part influenced by misconceptions about its consumption and of other dairy products. This consensus document aims to review the current state of the topic regarding the effects of milk consumption on health, while making a call to the institutions and scientific societies to develop programs and information campaigns about the benefits of milk and dairy products consumption.

Los problemas nutricionales percibidos fueron distintos según la edad, Introduction: Parents are most responsible for nutritional education of children, and pediatritians must advise and help them with their doubts. The purpose of this study was to know the relevance of nutritional topics in daily practice and the main nutritional problems perceived by pediatritians in children under 3 years of age. Methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study performed in 2 stages. First stage consisted on discussion meetings with 30 random-selected pediatritians from Madrid and Barcelona. Results were used to design the on-line questionnaire of the second stage (76 questions related to nutrition in children under 3 years). A random and representative sample of Spanish pediatritians was selected for this stage. Results: One hundred and fifty one pediatritians, among 258 sampled, completed the questionnaire. They referred to see a mean of 588 patients/month. The main perceived nutritional problems in the first year of life were iron and vitamin deficiencies and poor weight gain. In the next months, excess in carbohydrates and lipid intake and overweight were the main problems perceived. Parents were considered the main actors regarding their children’s nutritional health, but their concern in these questions significantly reduced with children’s age (p < 0,0001). Factors considered to have the greatest relevance in the acquisition of good nutritional habits were to provide a diet adjusted for children’s requirements and to observe the appropriate sleeping hours. The proportion of children who receive nutritional counseling varied from 88% (0-6 months) to 61% (24-36 months). Conclusions: Despite of the relevance given by pediatritians, educational intervention regarding nutritional health is not ideal. Nutritional problems perceived by pediatritians varied with children’s age, Este estudio ha sido financiado por Almiron/Danone Baby Nutrition.

- Abstract
Currently there are insufficient data to recommend routine supplementation of infant formula with probiotics and/or prebiotics. However, administration of either food components in isolation or in combination early or follow-on or toddler infant formulas has been associated with clinical benefit beyond the first months of life. Thus, among them, a reduced risk of gastrointestinal infections and their treatment, control of atopy manifestations, decreased antibiotic use and a lower frequency of colic or irritability can be included. Furthermore, different studies have shown no harmful consequences of its consumption. From a review of the most relevant studies, this paper aims to provide a quick overview of the main clinical issues this topic brings up today. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
