El uso del vehículo eléctrico ha aumentado en los últimos años debido a la creciente necesidad de reducir los efectos de la contaminación atmosférica y el consumo de combustibles fósiles. Sin embargo, uno de los principales problemas que impiden la eliminación completa del vehículo de combustión es la menor autonomía que presentan los vehículos eléctricos. Uno de los avances, cuyo objetivo es aumentar la autonomía, es la integración de sistemas fotovoltaicos en los vehículos,VIPV según sus siglas en inglés. En estos, los sistemas tienen la función de entregar energía eléctrica a cargas o baterías, ya sean principales, aumentando la autonomía del vehículo, o secundarias. La principal problemática que presentan este tipo de instalaciones, son los cambios bruscos en la irradiancia recibida, así como las variaciones rápidas en el sombreado parcial. Estas variaciones provocan que la potencia máxima disponible varíe dinámicamente. Para asegurarse que el panel produzca la mayor energía posible es necesario un algoritmo MPPT, o seguidor del punto de máxima potencia. El problema de la aplicación de algoritmos clásicos como el P\&O en VIPV radica en que no tienen una capacidad de convergencia lo suficientemente rápida como para conseguir la máxima potencia. En este Trabajo Fin de Grado se presenta un nuevo algoritmo basado en una red neuronal artificial desarrollada con datos provenientes de datos reales de medida del sombreado recibido en el techo de un coche en un trayecto. Los resultados obtenidos muestran una mejora en la eficiencia del sistema fotovoltaico al implementar el MPPT basado en una red neuronal artificial en comparación con los algoritmos clásicos.

Forensic Psychology in the Juvenile Criminal Jurisdiction: A Systematic Case Study. Case studies are a good tool to transfer data from scientific research to professional practice, thus contributing to evidence-based practice. In this work, through a systematic case study, the expert examination design followed in the examination of a minor accused of murdering his father and his partner is presented. The areas of exploration are set out, which in this jurisdiction are marked by the legal framework in which the professional acts (Law 5/2000 on Criminal Responsibility of Minors), the evaluation methodology used and the case formulation that served to substantiate the proposed resocializing measure, ultimate objective of the intervention of Forensic Psychology in the field of juvenile offenders., Los estudios de caso suponen una buena herramienta para trasladar los datos de la investigación científica a la práctica profesional contribuyendo así a la práctica basada en la evidencia. En este trabajo, a través de un estudio de caso sistemático, se presenta el diseño de exploración pericial seguido en la exploración de un menor acusado de asesinar a su padre y a la pareja de éste. Se exponen las áreas de exploración, que en esta jurisdicción vienen marcadas por el marco legal en el que actúa el profesional (Ley 5/2000 de Responsabilidad Penal del Menor), la metodología de evaluación utilizada y la formulación de caso que sirvió para fundamentar la medida resocializadora propuesta, objetivo último de la intervención de la Psicología Forense en el ámbito de los menores infractores.

The vehicle integrated photovoltaic (VIPV) technology, which consists in integrating PV solar panels in the surfaces of electric vehicles, is a promising technology to increase car autonomy. Free-form curved PV surfaces are demanded to meet the specific design constraints of the automotive. The proper characterization of three dimensional PV surfaces requires specific methods and equipment that must be developed. This paper describes the design principles and requirements of a solar simulator for characterization of curved PV modules. Its effectiveness is demonstrated by means of ray-tracing simulations, the results show the advantages provided by the use of a collimated light source in comparison to the conventional solar simulators used for flat modules. The light beam divergence of a non-collimated light source produces a non-uniformity boost between 2% and 20% depending on the module size and curvature. The module performance will be affected by this non-uniform irradiance, but the performance loss will also depend on specific characteristics of the module such as curvature, number and size of cells, series/parallel electrical connection and number of by-pass diodes. On the contrary, the proposed collimated solar simulator reproduces the solar illumination profile over the curved surface. The Helios 3198, a solar simulator with collimated light developed for concentrator modules, has been adapted accordingly to the design proposed. A module of 1 m of curvature has been tested, the short-circuit current of the cells follows the ideal cosine response of the curvature, differences are lower than 0.5% which proves the quality of the collimated beam.

Artículo de revista, The growth of crypto-assets in recent years, their potential use as a means of exchange or saving, and their possible risks to financial stability, arising, among other things, from their interconnections with the banking sector, have drawn the attention of national and international authorities. In terms of the regulation of these assets, of note at the European level is the European Union’s proposal for a regulation on markets in crypto-assets, which establishes a regulatory framework for all those crypto-assets that currently lie outside the scope of the European Union’s existing regulation on financial services. As regards their treatment in the banking sector, in December 2022 the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision published the global standard on the prudential treatment of banks’exposures to crypto-assets. In this article we review the main characteristics of these two regulatory developments, which are essential for the future of the crypto-asset ecosystem’s relationship with the traditional financial world.

Artículo de revista, The events of 2023 have served as a reminder of how quickly banking crises can occur. This article analyses the roots of the problems which, ultimately, against a backdrop of uncertainty and rapid contagion effects, affected banks whose business models, governance and risk management presented significant weaknesses. The article also reviews the main implications for the banking sector and authorities worldwide. These events are a fresh reminder that the banking business must be based on business models that are sustainable over time and on appropriate risk management. In addition, the events again highlight the importance of supervisory activity having available the tools needed to guarantee an early and effective response. Lastly, although the current regulations have helped to check the systemic reach of crises, thanks to the increased resilience of the banking sector, reinforcing again the need to implement the Basel III framework, there are certain areas where analysis of the operation of the prudential regulatory framework should continue.

Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is a promising biomarker of a healthy human microbiota. However, previous studies reported the heterogeneity of this species and found the presence of several distinct groups at the species level among F. prausnitzii strains. Our recent study revealed that methods previously developed for quantification of F. prausnitzii were not specific to the species level because of the heterogeneity within the F. prausnitzii species and the application of 16S rRNA gene, which is an invalid genetic marker for the species. Therefore, previously available data failed to provide information on different groups, which limits our understanding of the importance of this organism for host health. Here, we propose an alternative gene marker for quantification of F. prausnitzii-related taxa. A total of nine group-specific primer pairs were designed by targeting rpoA gene sequences. The newly developed rpoA-based qPCR successfully quantified targeted groups. Application of the developed qPCR assay in six healthy adults revealed marked differences in abundance and prevalence among the different targeted groups in stool samples. The developed assay will facilitate detailed understanding of the impact of Faecalibacterium populations at the group level on human health and to understand the links between depletion of specific groups in Faecalibacterium and different human disorders.

Artículo de revista, El crecimiento de los criptoactivos en los últimos años, su potencial uso como medio de cambio o de ahorro y sus posibles riesgos para la estabilidad financiera derivados, entre otros, de sus interconexiones con el sector bancario han exigido la atención de las autoridades nacionales e internacionales. En lo que se refiere a la regulación de estos activos, en el ámbito europeo destaca la propuesta de reglamento comunitario sobre los mercados de criptoactivos, que establece un marco normativo dirigido a todos aquellos criptoactivos que actualmente quedarían excluidos de la aplicación de la normativa sobre servicios financieros existente en la Unión Europea. Por su parte, respecto al tratamiento en el sector bancario, el Comité de Supervisión Bancaria de Basilea publicó, en diciembre de 2022, el estándar global para el tratamiento prudencial de las exposiciones bancarias a criptoactivos. En este artículo repasamos las principales características de estos dos avances regulatorios, claves para el futuro de la relación entre el ecosistema de criptoactivos y el mundo financiero tradicional.

Artículo de revista, Los eventos observados en el año 2023 han servido como recordatorio de la rapidez con la que pueden suceder las crisis bancarias. Este artículo realiza un análisis de las raíces de los problemas que, finalmente, en un contexto de incertidumbre y de rápidos efectos de contagio, afectaron a entidades que presentaban debilidades significativas en su modelo de negocio, su gobernanza y su gestión de riesgos. El artículo también revisa las principales implicaciones para el sector bancario y para las autoridades a nivel internacional. Así, estos hechos recuerdan, de nuevo, que la actividad bancaria se debe sustentar en modelos de negocio sostenibles en el tiempo y en una apropiada gestión de riesgos. Además, se vuelve a poner de manifiesto la importancia de que la actividad supervisora esté dotada de las herramientas adecuadas para garantizar su reacción temprana y efectiva. Por último, aunque la regulación vigente ha ayudado a frenar el alcance sistémico de las crisis gracias al aumento de la resiliencia del sector bancario, reforzando así de nuevo la necesidad de implementar el marco de Basilea III, hay algunas áreas donde resulta oportuno seguir analizando el funcionamiento del marco regulatorio prudencial.

Trabajo de fin de grado en el que se ha diseñado y desarrollado un prototipo de sensor inalámbrico con el objetivo de estimar el recurso solar disponible sobre vehículos como instrumentación que permita contribuir al desarrollo de la VIPV.

Introduction:The clinical effect of domperidone against COVID-19 has been investigated in a double-blind phase III clinical trial (EudraCT number 2021-001228-17). Domperidone has shown in vitro antiviral activity against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and potential immudolatory properties through the stimulation of prolactin secretion., Patients and methods:The efficacy of oral domperidone plus standard of care (SOC; n = 87) versus placebo plus SOC (n = 86) was evaluated in a 28-day randomized double-blind multicentre study in primary health care centres. A total of 173 outpatients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19 were included. Three daily doses of 10 mg (30 mg/day) of domperidone or placebo were administered for 7 days. Reduction of viral load on day 4 was the primary efficay endpoint. It was estimated in saliva samples by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction (RT-qPCR), as the cycle thresholds detected ORF1ab, N Protein and S Protein genes., Results:A significant reduction in the viral load was observed (p < 0.001) from baseline to days 4, 7 and 14 of the three genes studied with non-significant differences between domperidone and placebo groups. Twenty-three patients (13.3%) experienced adverse events, 14 patients in the domperidone group (16.1%) and 9 patients in the placebo group (10.5%). No patients needed to be hospitalized., Conclusion: Results do not prove the use of domperidone as antiviral in patients with COVID-19.
