Abstract Background MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are presented in the uterine lumen of many mammals, and in vitro experiments have determined that several miRNAs are important for the regulation of endometrial and trophoblast functions. Our aim was to identify and contrast the miRNAs present in extracellular vesicles (EVs) in the uterine lumen fluid (ULF) at the onset of attachment in cattle pregnancies (gestation d 18) initiated by artificial insemination (AI) or by the transfer of an in vitro-produced blastocyst (IVP-ET). A third group had no conceptus after the transfer of an IVP embryo. Results The abundance of 263 annotated miRNAs was quantified in the EVs collected from ULF. There was an increase in the transcript abundance of 20 miRNAs in the ULF EVs from the AI pregnant group, while 4 miRNAs had a lower abundance relative to the group not containing a conceptus. Additionally, 4 miRNAs were more abundant in ULF EVs in the AI pregnant group relative to IVP-ET group (bta-mir-17, bta-mir-7-3, MIR7-1, MIR18A). Specific miRNAs in the ULF EVs were co-expressed with messenger RNAs expressed in extra-embryonic tissues and endometrium, including genes that are known to be their targets. Conclusions The results provide biological insights into the participation of miRNAs in the regulation of trophoblast proliferation and differentiation, as well as in endometrium receptivity. The knowledge that in vitro cultured embryos can contribute to the altered abundance of specific miRNAs in the uterine lumen can lead to the development of corrective approaches to reduce conceptus losses during the first month of pregnancy in cattle.

Objectives To assess sex-specific differences in the association between pre-transfusion haemoglobin values and early neurodevelopmental function.Design Observational follow-up of infants with birth weights

The study conducted in 'Quebrada del Diablo' ravine, located in the Tacna region, Peru, reveals high levels of vulnerability in the human settlements of this area. Vulnerabilities were identified in environmental, physical, economic, social, educational, and cultural aspects using the methodology proposed by the National Institute of Civil Defense. Additionally, sedimentary, morphodynamic, and geodynamic hazards levels were evaluated through thematic maps. Factors contributing to vulnerability include solid waste pollution, the construction of substandard housing, lack of preparedness in risk prevention, and limited awareness of the dangers present in the area. Particularly, El Mirador Human Settlement showed a very high vulnerability, while La Florida Association exhibited a high vulnerability. These results align with the geological threats identified in the area, such as flows, falls, and collapses. Therefore, it is important to take into account the sedimentary, geodynamic and morphodynamic characteristics in determining vulnerability and exposure. The study emphasizes the need to implement prevention and risk reduction measures, as well as proper planning and community participation to address the challenges in this high-risk area.

Abstract Background Laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) represents one of the principal tumors of the head and neck. Human papillomavirus (HPV) and Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) are considered risk factors for the development and the clinical prognosis of LSCC. High levels of p16INK4a are suggested as a surrogate marker of HPV or EBV infection in some head and neck tumors but in LSCC is still controversial. Furthermore, pRb expression may be considered an additional biomarker but it has not been clearly defined. This work aimed to compare the expression of pRb and p16INK4a as possible biomarkers in tumor tissues with and without infection by EBV or different genotypes of HPV from patients with LSCC. Methods Tumor samples from 103 patients with LSCC were previously investigated for the presence and genotypes of HPV using the INNO-LiPA line probe assay and for the infection of EBV by qPCR. p16 INK4a and pRb expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry. Results Of the 103 tumor samples, expression of p16INK4a was positive in 55 (53.4%) and of this, 32 (56.1%) were positive for HPV whereas 11 (39.3%) were EBV positive but both without a significantly difference (p > 0.05). pRb expression was positive in 78 (75.7%) and a higher frequency of this expression was observed in HPV negative samples (87.0%) (p = 0.021) and in high-risk HPV negative samples (85.2%) (p = 0.010). No difference was observed when comparing pRb expression and EBV infection status (p > 0.05). Conclusion Our results support the suggestion that p16INK4a is not a reliable surrogate marker for identifying HPV or EBV infection in LSCC. On the other hand, most of our samples had pRb expression, which was more frequent in tumors without HPV, suggesting that pRb could indicate HPV negativity. However, more studies with a larger number of cases are required, including controls without LSCC and evaluating other molecular markers to determine the real role of p16INK4a and pRb in LSCC.

The chemical formula of the title compound, 2C17H17N4+·2C7H5O5−·C17H16N4·2.94C4H8O2, was established by X-ray diffraction of a single-crystal obtained by reacting 1,3-bis(benzimidazol-2-yl)propane (L) and gallic acid (HGal) in ethyl acetate. The molecular structure can be described as a salt (HL)+(Gal)− co-crystallized with a molecule L, with a stoichiometric relation of 2:1. Moreover, large voids in the crystal are filled with ethyl acetate, the amount of which was estimated by using a solvent mask during structure refinement, affording the chemical formula (HL+·Gal−)2·L·(C4H8O2)2.94. The arrangement of components in the crystal is driven by O—H...O, N—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds rather than by π–π or C—H...π interactions. In the crystal, molecules and ions shape the boundary of cylindrical tunnels parallel to [100] via R (rings) and D (discrete) supramolecular motifs. These voids, which account for about 28% of the unit-cell volume, contain disordered solvent molecules.

Regenerative medicine has gained much attention and has been a hot topic in all medical fields since its inception, and dentistry is no exception. However, innovations and developments in basic research are sometimes disconnected from daily clinical practice. This existing gap between basic research and clinical practice can only be addressed with improved communication between clinicians, academicians, industry, and researchers to facilitate the advance of evidence-based therapies and procedures and to direct research to areas of clinical need. In this perspective, six participants with strong clinical and research interests debated five previously conceived questions. These questions covered current methods and procedures for soft and hard tissue regeneration in the oral cavity with predictable outcomes, limitations of their respective protocols, and needs for future development of regenerative materials and technologies.

Abstract PDE4B (phosphodiesterase‐4B) has an important role in cancer and in pharmacology of some disorders, such as inflammatory diseases. Remarkably in Native Americans, PDE4B variants are associated with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) relapse, as this gene modulates sensitivity of glucocorticoids used in ALL chemotherapy. PDE4B allele rs6683977.G, associated with genomic regions of Native American origin in US‐Hispanics (admixed among Native Americans, Europeans, and Africans), increases ALL relapse risk, contributing to an association between Native American ancestry and ALL relapse that disappeared with an extra‐phase of chemotherapy. This result insinuates that indigenous populations along the Americas may have high frequencies of rs6683977.G, but this has never been corroborated. We studied ancestry and PDE4B diversity in 951 healthy individuals from nine Latin American populations. In non‐admixed Native American populations rs6683977.G has frequencies greater than 90%, is in linkage disequilibrium with other ALL relapse associated and regulatory variants in PDE4B‐intron‐7, conforming haplotypes showing their highest worldwide frequencies in Native Americans (>0.82). Our findings inform the discussion on the pertinence of an extra‐phase of chemotherapy in Native American populations, and exemplifies how knowledge generated in US‐Hispanics is relevant for their even more neglected and vulnerable Native American ancestors along the American continent.

The title salt, C14H14N3O4S2+·Cl− [systematic name: 2-(4-hydroxy-2-methyl-1,1-dioxo-1,2-benzothiazine-3-amido)-5-methyl-1,3-thiazol-3-ium chloride] is the hydrochloride derivative of meloxicam, a drug used to treat pain and inflammation in rheumatic disorders and osteoarthritis. Although its molecular structure is similar to that previously reported for the hydrobromide analogue, both salts are not isomorphous. Different crystal structures originate from a conformational modification, arising from a degree of rotational freedom for the thiazolium ring in the cations. By taking as a reference the conformation of meloxicam, the thiazolium ring is twisted by 10.96 and −16.70° in the hydrochloride and hydrobromide salts, while the 1,2-benzothiazine core is a rigid scaffold. This behaviour could explain why meloxicam is a polymorphous compound.

The neonatal hemostatic system is different from that of adults. The differences in levels of procoagulant and anticoagulant factors and the evolving equilibrium in secondary hemostasis during the transition from fetal/neonatal life to infancy, childhood, and adult life are known as “developmental hemostasis.” In regard to primary hemostasis, while the number (150,000–450,000/µl) and structure of platelets in healthy neonates closely resemble those of adults, there are significant functional differences between neonatal and adult platelets. Specifically, platelets derived from both cord blood and neonatal peripheral blood are less reactive than adult platelets to agonists, such as adenosine diphosphate (ADP), epinephrine, collagen, thrombin, and thromboxane (TXA2) analogs. This platelet hyporeactivity is due to differences in expression levels of key surface receptors and/or in signaling pathways, and is more pronounced in preterm neonates. Despite these differences in platelet function, bleeding times and PFA-100 closure times (an in vitro test of whole-blood primary hemostasis) are shorter in healthy full-term infants than in adults, reflecting enhanced primary hemostasis. This paradoxical finding is explained by the presence of factors in neonatal blood that increase the platelet-vessel wall interaction, such as high von Willebrand factor (vWF) levels, predominance of ultralong vWF multimers, high hematocrit, and high red cell mean corpuscular volume. Thus, the hyporeactivity of neonatal platelets should not be viewed as a developmental deficiency, but rather as an integral part of a developmentally unique, but well balanced, primary hemostatic system. In clinical practice, due to the high incidence of bleeding (especially intraventricular hemorrhage, IVH) among preterm infants, neonatologists frequently transfuse platelets to non-bleeding neonates when platelet counts fall below an arbitrary limit, typically higher than that used in older children and adults. However, recent studies have shown that prophylactic platelet transfusions not only fail to decrease bleeding in preterm neonates, but are associated with increased neonatal morbidity and mortality. In this review, we will describe the developmental differences in platelet function and primary hemostasis between neonates and adults, and will analyze the implications of these differences to platelet transfusion decisions.

Background Sanfilippo type B is a mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) with a major neuronopathic component characterized by heparan sulfate (HS) accumulation due to mutations in the NAGLU gene encoding alfa-N-acetyl-glucosaminidase. Enzyme replacement therapy for neuronopathic MPS requires efficient enzyme delivery throughout the brain in order to normalize HS levels, prevent brain atrophy, and potentially delay cognitive decline.Methods In this phase I/II open-label study, patients with MPS type IIIB (n = 22) were treated with tralesinidase alfa administered i.c.v. The patients were monitored for drug exposure; total HS and HS nonreducing end (HS-NRE) levels in both cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and plasma; anti-drug antibody response; brain, spleen, and liver volumes as measured by MRI; and cognitive development as measured by age-equivalent (AEq) scores.Results In the Part 1 dose escalation (30, 100, and 300 mg) phase, a 300 mg dose of tralesinidase alfa was necessary to achieve normalization of HS and HS-NRE levels in the CSF and plasma. In Part 2, 300 mg tralesinidase alfa sustained HS and HS-NRE normalization in the CSF and stabilized cortical gray matter volume (CGMV) over 48 weeks of treatment. Resolution of hepatomegaly and a reduction in spleen volume were observed in most patients. Significant correlations were also established between the change in cognitive AEq score and plasma drug exposure, plasma HS-NRE levels, and CGMV.Conclusion Administration of tralesinidase alfa i.c.v. effectively normalized HS and HS-NRE levels as a prerequisite for clinical efficacy. Peripheral drug exposure data suggest a role for the glymphatic system in altering tralesinidase alfa efficacy.Trial registration Clinicaltrials.gov NCT02754076.FUNDING BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. and Allievex Corporation.

Indigenous populations, including in those in Mexico are underrepresented in genetic studies. Here, the authors perform a population genetics study of indigenous peoples in Mexico to explore demographic histories of the region in the context of geography and cultural influences.

Spinal cord infarction is a rare entity that can be caused by interventional procedures such as chemoembolization, despite its high level of safety. We present a case of a 51-year-old female with chest pain and hemorrhage from a friable neoplastic lesion of the bilateral breast without improvement after conservative measures. After embolization of the tumor arteries, the patient developed crural paraparesis and global lower extremity hyporeflexia. MRI showed hypersignal in the anterior spinal cord, suggesting ischemia/infarction of the spinal cord in the territory of the anterior spinal artery. Despite the interventional procedures being safe, the inherent risks are always present, and unfortunately some serious ones, such as the one reported in this case. That is why the importance of case-by-case evaluation in order to offer the best treatment and maintain informed consent.

This article examines the role of the Great Depression in shaping the intergenerational mobility of some of the most upwardly mobile cohorts of the twentieth century. Using newly linked census and vital records from the Longitudinal, Intergenerational Family Electronic Micro-database, we examine the occupational and educational mobility of more than 265,000 sons and daughters born in Ohio and North Carolina. We find that the deepest and most protracted downturn in U.S. history had limited effects on sons' intergenerational mobility but reduced daughters' intergenerational mobility.

Videoconferencing was heavily utilized as an online learning tool at universities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the high utilization, few studies have examined students' perspectives on their health, social interaction, and preferences in using specific videoconferencing features for online pedagogy and campus participation. This study surveyed 275 occupational therapy students from six class cohorts regarding the use of videoconferencing during the 2020-2021 academic year. Students reported physical changes in fatigue, eye, and back discomfort from the use of videoconferencing for extended periods, in addition to increased stress and anxiety during this period. Students reported lower class engagement during videoconferencing, as indicated by less frequency of asking/answering questions, paying attention, participating in breakout rooms with unfamiliar peers, and less motivation to attend classes. While students preferred in-person versus videoconferencing for overall classroom engagement and knowledge retention, preferences were equivocal for use of videoconferencing in meeting with professors, peer tutoring, group projects, and office hours. A benefit to videoconferencing availability was the ability to maintain social communication with friends and family, particularly for undergraduates. Comparisons among class cohorts are presented.

The war in Ukraine has affected the internationalization of higher education in Kyrgyzstan in a number of ways, some unique to Kyrgyzstan and some paralleling effects in other countries. This reflective essay, drawing on four theoretical frameworks, with a focus on examining the actors involved, and informed by personal communications and participant observations, suggests that further research is needed on a number of Kyrgyzstan-specific topics. Moreover, the presence in Kyrgyzstan's capital of two internationalized universities with connections to opposing side in the conflict -- the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University and the American University in Central Asia -- puts forth the notion that post-World War II assumptions about internationalization contributing to mutual understanding were developed in specific contexts. The complexity of the forms internationalization takes now implies that the comparative and international education field might benefit from some broader rethinking about the rationales for and effects of internationalization.

Background: Learning pre-reading skills through formal education in early childhood is vital for a child's future personal and professional development. In this regard, integrating appropriate teaching methods and didactic strategies with the support of information and communication technologies (ICT) can facilitate this phase in the development of reading skills. Aim: To conduct a systematic literature review (SLR) to investigate and analyse the scientific and academic production of methods, didactic strategies, and educational experiences with ICT applied to pre-reading development in children aged 3 years to 5 years. Method: This study was carried out through an SLR, involving eight steps that enabled the systematic and structured selection, evaluation, and analysis of qualitative research located in Scopus and Google Scholar, using quality criteria systematically and structurally. Results: The selected and analysed studies correspond to the period 2017-2022, responding to the research questions raised in this work. Notable methods include Global, Doman, Geempa, Montessori, and synthetic, among others. The integration of interactive stories, songs, images, role-playing, dramatisations, visual cards, and other strategies was highlighted to enhance pre-reading learning. Research demonstrates their importance in promoting pre-reading activities through the use of digital tablets, multimedia resources, e-books, and applications. Conclusion: The utilisation of suitable didactic methods and strategies, coupled with the implementation of educational practices involving ICT, enhances the pre-reading process in preschool children. Contribution: An amalgamation of methods, didactic strategies, and technological resources, transferrable to diverse contexts, facilitates the development of pre-reading skills in early childhood.

This research reports the implementation of an evaluation instrument of the slope concept in high school students. The design of this study was based on four dimensions: Skills, Properties, Uses and Representations (SPUR model; Thompson & Kaur, 2011) and on three conceptualizations: constant ratio, behavior indicator and trigonometric conception. This work adopts a qualitative approach to analyze the students' productions and a quantitative approach when obtaining the percentages of the student's responses. The general objective of the work is to evaluate the effect produced by a group of tasks designed with the SPUR model on the slope concept in high school students. The results show that students have traditional conceptualizations of the slope as a constant ratio and trigonometric conception. However, these conceptualizations emphasize more procedural aspects than conceptual ones. This finding could partially explain why students can solve certain tasks of procedural nature but not conceptual tasks that usually require a multifaceted view of the slope.

The use of intelligent tutoring systems (ITSs) is growing rapidly in the field of education. In mathematics, adaptive and personalized scenarios mediated by these systems have been implemented to aid concept comprehension and skill development. This study presents a systematic review on the current status of the use of ITSs in mathematics education in higher education institutions (HEI). More specifically, it inquires about elements rarely addressed in reviews, such as the purposes, advantages, effectiveness, limitations, characteristics, and development and research methodologies in ITSs used for mathematics education. We analyzed 43 documents in 15 specialized and indexed journals in the years 2012-2022. In addition to providing a global overview of the implementation of ITSs in mathematics teaching and learning, we also present trends and opportunities for future research on building educational environments guided by these technologies.

This research investigated teacher technological-creative fostering behaviour as determinant of teacher classroom practices in private primary schools in the Makurdi Local Government Area, Benue State, Nigeria. This study adopted the correlational research design. The population was all teachers in private primary schools in Makurdi. A sample of 70 mathematics teachers was drawn from 50 private primary schools. Two researcher-structured instruments were used for data collection, namely; the Mathematics Teacher Tech-Creativity Inventory (MTTI) and the Mathematics Teacher Classroom Practice Inventory (MTCPI). Correlation, scatterplots, and histograms were used to answer research questions, while analysis of variance was used to test the hypotheses at 0.05 level of significance. The following were the findings: the top three technological tools among others which mathematics teachers at the primary school level use most often to facilitate their teaching practices are, first interactive whiteboard, second, the calculator and third, internet surfing. Teacher tech-creativity fostering behaviour has a significant impact on teacher clarity, teacher classroom discussions, teacher feedback, teacher formative assessment and, teacher-teacher collaboration as teacher classroom practices. It was recommended that teachers of mathematics consider utilizing technology creatively during lessons as a catalyst to advance classroom teaching practices of teacher classroom clarity, class discussions, teacher feedback, formative assessment, and teacher-teacher collaboration.

El tema principal de este ensayo es, en primer lugar, describir cómo se define una universidad que es socialmente responsable, cuáles son sus características y cómo el factor de la ecología es un elemento importante e indispensable para que se le pueda brindar ese calificativo. En una segunda parte, se profundiza en cómo el factor ecológico debe incluir el binomio «ecología ambiental» y «ecología social», según describe la carta encíclica Laudato si’, para que éste sea realmente integral.

El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar los costos de la no calidad en pymes (pequeñas y medianas empresas) en Colombia. Este es un ámbito para el cual laspymes tienen dificultades para identificar los costos. Por esto, es necesario hacer un seguimiento apropiado para tomar las decisiones adecuadas, obtener resultados económicos y comerciales que beneficiena la empresa, y así evitar o, al menos, disminuir este tipo de egresos. La metodología del estudio es documental, se llevó a cabo una detallada revisión bibliográfica para analizar los riesgos y las características vinculadas a los costos de la no calidad. Los materiales fueron datos en sitios web institucionales y confiables, con el fin dereducir laposibilidad de incurrir en plagio. Se priorizó la información cuantitativa y se tomaron los hallazgos de investigadores reconocidos para facilitar la interpretación. Con los datos recopilados, se efectuó el análisis y se proyectó un plan para disminuir losegresos.Losresultadospermiten identificar quela contabilidad de costosaumenta el control económico en una organización. Así mismo, le da la posibilidad a la empresa de establecer claramente la utilidad que se le ha dado a los recursos, y diferenciar los costos delacalidad y los de la no calidad.

Objetivo: reducir las cancelaciones de cirugías programadas en una IPS,a través de la metodología definir, medir, analizar, mejorar y controlar (DMAIC),de Lean Seis Sigma. Metodología: este estudio se basó en la metodología DMAIC. Resultados: en la primera etapa, definir, se analizaron los datos del periodo de julio a diciembre del 2019, para identificar el número de cirugías programadas, realizadas y canceladas, en cada una de las especialidades de la IPS de estudio. En la segunda etapa, medir, se estudiaron las variables de cirugías y se estableció un diagrama de proceso para la programación de cirugías. En la tercera etapa, analizar, se revisaron los datos y se establecieron las posibles relaciones causa-efecto de cancelaciones de cirugía, mediante el uso de herramientas estadísticas. En la cuarta etapa, mejorar, se consolidó una lista de estrategias de mejora. En la quinta y última etapa, controlar, se plantearon los controles necesarios para asegurar la disminución sostenida de cancelaciones de cirugías. Conclusiones: con las mejoras implementadas, se identificaron los problemas del servicio asociados al retraso en la programación o cancelaciones de cirugías.

This paper deals with Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) applied to face aging. An explainable face aging framework is proposed that builds on a well-known face aging approach, namely the Conditional Adversarial Autoencoder (CAAE). The proposed framework, namely, xAI-CAAE, couples CAAE with explainable Artificial Intelligence (xAI) methods, such as Saliency maps or Shapley additive explanations, to provide corrective feedback from the discriminator to the generator. xAI-guided training aims to supplement this feedback with explanations that provide a “reason” for the discriminator’s decision. Moreover, Local Interpretable Model-agnostic Explanations (LIME) are leveraged to provide explanations for the face areas that most influence the decision of a pre-trained age classifier. To the best of our knowledge, xAI methods are utilized in the context of face aging for the first time. A thorough qualitative and quantitative evaluation demonstrates that the incorporation of the xAI systems contributed significantly to the generation of more realistic age-progressed and regressed images.

En un mundo globalizado con economías aceleradas, el contexto empresarial y universitario debe incursionar en la búsqueda de nuevas metodologías que permitan mejorar y estar a la vanguardia del contexto internacional. En este sentido, el objetivo de este artículo es analizar la evolución y tendencias de la ingeniería industrial en America Latina, a través de un estudio bibliométrico y prospectivo. La investigación está basada en mecanismos exploratorios de fuentes bibliográficas y revisión de la literatura sobre la disciplina. La metodología planteada se basa en tres etapas fundamentales (i) Estudio bibliométrico, (ii) Revisión de la literatura y (iii) Futuras tendencias. Entre los resultados obtenidos se encontró que la ingeniería industrial es una disciplina predominante en el tiempo, con alto auge investigativo en América latina. Se concluye que presenta un escenario habilitador hacia futuras tendencias, considerando la aplicación de tecnologías avanzadas y metodologías modernas, con aplicabilidad en las universidades e industrias.

Abstract Neonates, particularly those born preterm, have a high incidence of thrombocytopenia and bleeding, most commonly in the brain. Because of this, it has historically been accepted that neonates should be transfused at higher platelet counts than older children or adults, to decrease their bleeding risk. However, a number of observational studies and a recent large, randomized trial found a higher incidence of bleeding and mortality in neonates who received more platelet transfusions. The mechanisms underlying the deleterious effects of platelet transfusions in neonates are unknown, but it has been hypothesized that transfusing adult platelets into the very different physiological environment of a neonate may result in a “developmental mismatch” with potential negative consequences. Specifically, neonatal platelets are hyporeactive in response to multiple agonists and upon activation express less surface P‐selectin than adult platelets. However, this hyporeactivity is well balanced by factors in neonatal blood that promote clotting, such as the elevated hematocrit, elevated von Willebrand factor (VWF) levels, and a predominance of ultra‐long VWF polymers, with the net result of normal neonatal primary hemostasis. So far, most studies on the developmental differences between neonatal and adult platelets have focused on their hemostatic functions. However, it is now clear that platelets have important nonhemostatic functions, particularly in angiogenesis, immune responses, and inflammation. Whether equally important developmental differences exist with regard to those nonhemostatic platelet functions and how platelet transfusions perturb those processes in neonates remain unanswered questions.

Objective: Posttraumatic stress symptoms are very high among sexual and/or gender minority (SGM) people. Development and testing of trauma interventions with SGM people is needed, but first we need to understand who among SGM people are at greatest risk of posttraumatic stress symptoms, how minority stress may contribute, and the frequency of substance use comorbidity with significant posttraumatic stress symptoms among SGM people.Method: General linear models and logistic regressions were used to examine demographic differences, minority stress, and substance use related to posttraumatic stress symptoms among a national sample of SGM people (N = 4,589, Mage = 32.1, 55% cisgender). Results: All gender groups had greater posttraumatic stress symptoms than the reference group of cisgender men. All sexual orientation groups, except for straight/heterosexual SGM people, had greater posttraumatic stress symptoms than participants in the reference gay/lesbian group. Younger age and identifying as American Indian or Alaska Native and Hispanic, Latino, or Spanish was associated with more posttraumatic stress symptoms. Non-specific and SGM-specific minority stress were each related to greater odds of significant posttraumatic stress symptoms, even after accounting for Criterion A events. Among participants with significant posttraumatic stress symptoms, 13.6% were at risk for alcohol use disorder, and 56.4% were at risk for other substance use disorder.Conclusions: Marginalized SGM subgroups have more posttraumatic stress symptoms. Interventions for SGM people should consider minority stress coping strategies and substance use comorbidities.
