Introduction: The study objective was to determine whether different combinations of resilient factors existed, giving rise to distinct resilience profiles of secondary school teachers, and whether the resilient groups obtained presented technostress differences. Method: The Resilience Scale (1993) and the Questionnaire on Resources, Emotions / Experiences and Demands in ICT users (2004) were administered to 232 teachers from Alicante (Spain), aged between 27 and 60 years (M = 30.60; DT = 10.44). Results: The cluster analysis identified three resilient profiles: a high resilience profile, a low resilience profile, and a group in which self-discipline as well as low life and self-acceptance and social competence predominated. The high resilience profile presented lower technostress levels. Discussion and conclusion: The findings suggest the need to further explore how resilience can be developed in order to address technostress. The importance of self-esteem during the course of oncological illness has been well-documented by some previous studies. However, data assessing its association with various coping strategies, especially considering the period of illness, are still scarce. The objective of this study is to analyze the differences in coping strategies among oncological adolescents, taking into account their self-esteem, illness period, age, and sex. A total of 201 oncological patients between the ages of 12 and 17 from three different Spanish cities were included in this study. All of them were asked to answer a tailored questionnaire, encompassing information about age, sex, and illness period. Additionally, the coping strategies were measured using the ACS scale, while self-esteem was evaluated using the SENA questionnaire. The results demonstrated that male adolescents and older individuals exhibited higher levels of self-esteem. The main coping strategies associated with higher self-esteem were "ignore the problem", "focus on positive", "physical recreation", and "wishful thinking" both during the treatment and the follow-up phases. We conclude that higher self-esteem is associated with some of the coping strategies such as "focus on positive", "ignore the problem", and "wishful thinking". Sociodemographic variables influence the relationship between self-esteem and coping strategies, but no differences were found regarding the period of illness. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

While the Internet has become a channel that promotes access to information and communication, its misuse and overuse can cause various personal and social problems. This work compares if there is an abusive Internet use among young people with and without disabilities. It also analyzes if the type of disability may influence the excessive Internet use. 230 young people participated (102 nondisabled and 128 disabled, 77 with motor disability and 51 with sensory disability). They answered the Cuestionario de Experiencias Relacionadas con Internet (CERI)[Experiences Related to the Internet questionnaire (ERIQ)], designed to measure Internet addiction. It spread through the network for 16 weeks. Analyses indicated that participants with disabilities, mainly the ones with motor disability showed an increased use and dependence on technology. Although this suggests the importance for young people with disabilities of the Internet use, it also indicates that disability, especially motor disability may be a vulnerability factor for an abusive use. In recent years, online social networks have introduced profound changes in our environment and new ways of relating to others. The use of social networks is increasingly common, especially among young people, and could further empower young people with limited mobility as a result of a disability. This paper examines the opinions of young people with motor disabilities about the friendships they maintain over online networks and their perceptions regarding how these networks improve their social skills. This is discussed in reference to gender, age and occupation. 68 young people with physical disabilities answered an online questionnaire created for this purpose. The results were analyzed using quantitative methodology. Although we found significant differences based on gender, age and occupation, most of the young people perceived themselves as being highly motivated to use these spaces for personal relationships. They also value the networks in improving their social skills. These results suggest that online social networks are important to young people with physical disabilities in their social relationships, and may also help to design programs aimed at promoting social integration.
