Abstract

Background: The World Health Organization considers unintentional injuries (UI) as an international public health problem, due to their effect on disability and mortality in the general population. Objective: Present and analyze the data on UI and accidental death collected by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences in the Department of Antioquia, Colombia, between 2016 and 2017. Methods: Descriptive study based on the information collected by the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences. The rates of injuries and deaths per 100,000 inhabitants / year were calculated, and the statistical analysis was made using SPSS® version 24.0. Results: In the years 2016 and 2017, there was a morbidity rate of UI of 7.86 and 7.21 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, respectively, similar to the national average. The number of cases was greater in men than in women, mainly between 18 and 34 years of age. The reported accidental mortality rate was 10.10 and 11.05 per 100,000 inhabitants for the years 2016 and 2017, respectively. The UI were more frequent in people with low educational level, from the urban area, and the most frequent traumatic mechanism was the blunt one. Conclusions: This study shows a reduction in the rates of UI and an increase of the rates of accidental death in Antioquia compared to the previous years. This trend is different to the previously reported on international literature. More studies analyzing other sources of information on variables like UI are needed in this field, in order to precisely estimate the occurrence of this event and its associated variables.

Los capítulos 5 y 6 están sujetos a confidencialidad por la autora. 158 p., La motivación de esta tesis es ayudar a las empresas manufactureras a adoptar tecnologías de la Industria 4.0 mediante el desarrollo de una solución rentable y confiable para mejorar su rendimiento. El enfoque se centra en el mantenimiento predictivo, que tiene como objetivo reducir los tiempos de inactividad de las máquinas y predecir fallos que provocan averías, aumentando así la productividad y las ganancias. La tesis propone una metodología integral, innovadora y novedosa para la predicción de fallos en el contexto de la Industria 4.0. La metodología consta de dos tareas principales: 1) etiquetado automático de bases de datos parcialmente etiquetadas y 2) obtención del mejor conjunto de parámetros que son predictores de un fallo.La primera tarea se logra mediante un sistema autónomo y fácil de usar llamado PLASH que evalúa y optimiza las diferentes soluciones de agrupamiento realizadas por una nueva métrica semi-supervisada llamada PSOM. La metodología proporciona al usuario tanto los resultados de una manera comprensible como una métrica de confiabilidad. Los resultados experimentales demuestran que PLAHS puede adaptarse, evaluar y proporcionar la mejor solución de etiquetado en diferentes tipos de datos y escenarios, incluido un estudio de caso real de una prensa de estampado en frío para la fabricación de pernos.La segunda tarea se logra mediante una metodología inspirada en la hiper-heurística llamada HIMAFP, que identifica de manera autónoma los parámetros significativos de las series temporales que caracterizan el comportamiento de las variables de proceso relevantes que permiten predecir fallos. La metodología encuentra el conjunto óptimo de parámetros que son predictores de un tipo específico de fallo, proporcionando al usuario final información para detectar la anomalía y anticipar el fallo. Abstract

The present work presents an investigation of the effects of xanthan gum (XG) and soy lecithin (SL) on the physicochemical stability, fatty acid profile (FAP), and antioxidant capacity (AC) of macadamia nut-based beverages with thermal treatment (TT), as well as physicochemical changes during storage and sensorial acceptability. An extreme vertices mixture design was used, varying the macadamia nut, SL, and XG. The results show that adding XG and SL decreased the Sauter (D[3,2]) and Brouckere (D[4,3]) diameters of particles in macadamia beverages and increased the zeta potential (ZP), which represents greater stability. After applying TT in beverages, D[3,2], D[4,3], and ZP increased. After processing and TT, the FAP and fat nutritional indices changed due to reducing SFA and PUFA and increasing MUFA relative to macadamia nut. No significant difference (p ≥ 0.05) was observed in the FAP of beverages with and without TT. The AC determined by DPPH and ABTS decreased in most beverages upon TT application. During storage for two months, the beverage particle size increased, there was a decrease in brightness, and no significant difference (p ≥ 0.05) was observed in ZP. Sensory analysis showed that the most stable beverage was not the most acceptable due to its viscosity. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
