Abstract

Jamu is Indonesian traditional herbal medicine that is still consumed nowadays to treat a variety of medical conditions. Jamu contaminated with toxic heavy metals such as lead, a common environmental pollutant, can cause various health issues even in trace concentrations. This study evaluated a technique for determining lead contents in jamu utilizing laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS). A Q-switched Nd:YAG laser at a wavelength of 355 nm, with a pulse duration of 10 ns, and maximum pulse energy of 15 mJ, was used for plasma generation on the sample surface under atmospheric pressure. The lead spectral intensity in plasma emission spectra was correlated with the lead concentration using a linear regression model. The actual concentrations and projected values produced by the model showed good agreement with the R2 of the model was 0.998. The detection limit obtained from the model was 99.38 ppm. These results indicated that laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy could quickly and accurately identify heavy metals in Indonesian traditional medicine. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

This research is aimed to develop the experimental instrument that is thermoelectric generator as the instructional media for energy resource. Used Research Development method with ADDIE (Analyze – Design – Develop – Implementation – Evaluation) models. The media is designed and developed by using Solid Works app. This media is equipped with screen, so the temperature value, electric current, and voltage that produced by the experiment will appear on it. Beside that, this media is user friendly for student because they no need to assemble this instrument, and also the measurement is accurate because this instrument is digital based. This media has been validated with the media experts and subject matter experts. The result is showing that thermoelectric generator is worthy to use as instructional media for energy resource subject in senior high school grade 3. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan media pembelajaran yaitu berupa alat praktikum termoelektrik generator sebagai sumber energi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah research and development (R&D) menggunakan model ADDIE (Analyze – Design – Develop – Implementation – Evaluation). Media didesain dan dikembangkan dengan menggunakan aplikasi Solid Works. Media ini dilengkapai dengan layar yang dapat menampilkan besaran suhu, kuat arus, dan tegangan yang dihasilkan dari suatu termoelektrik, selain itu media ini mudah untuk digunakan karena peserta didik tidak perlu merakit dari awal dan pengukuran lebih presisi karena berbasis digital. Media yang dikembangkan telah divalidasi oleh para ahli media dan ahli materi pembelajaran. Hasil validasi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa termoelektrik generator layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada pokok bahasan sumber energi di kelas XII MIA. Abstract

Researchers had conducted an experiment by using an Nd-YAG laser at third harmonic mode to generate plasma from the sample of meatballs containing borax as a contaminant with various concentrations. The plasma emission was investigated by using a gated Optical Multichannel Analyzer (OMA). The boron emission line (B I 249.7 nm) was used as an indicator of the existence of borax in meatballs food. The optimum conditions of plasma generation in this experiment were 21 mJ laser energy, surrounding gas pressure was air at 10Torr, and the OMA delay was set at 1 µs. In this experiment, the existence of 105 ppm (w) borax could be detected by using a boron emission line. The experimental results showed that laser-induced plasma spectroscopy was a rapid analysis method for any kind of samples. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

In this research, teflon coating for microwave absorption applications was investigated. The microwave absorption properties of teflon with thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8 mm were investigated using a vector network analyzer (VNA) in the frequency range of 7–13 GHz. Based on the reflected signal (S11) and transmitted signal (S21), the complex permeability (μ) and permittivity (ε) of teflon were resulted. The optimal absorption properties were achieved with a reflection loss of less than −10 dB (90% absorption) for −17.35 dB at 10.5 GHz at a thickness of 8 mm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The aim of this research to develop electronic module based on problem based learning on balance and rotation dynamic topic to improve science literacy on Senior High School Students. The method used in this research is research and development with ADDIE model. The research was conducted in August 2020 at SMAN 2 Indramayu. The instrument used in this research are observation sheet, validation, writing test. The electronic module is a program to learn about balance materials and rotation dynamic. The result of module electronic validation by physics expert was 86.20%, media expert was 87.92%, and learning expert was 88.96% which means the electronic module was very decent. The result of field testing to student was 82.26% which means the module electronic was very decent. The use of this module electronic which has been developed could be improve science literation that can be seen by the normalized gain from field testing is 0.66 that means science literation improved with a medium interpretation. Abstract

A study is conducted on the detailed static and dynamic characteristics of plasma and the resulting emission spectral qualities generated by a femtosecond (fs) laser irradiation compared with those produced by nanosecond (ns) laser irradiation at a reduced ambient air pressure of 0.65 kPa. It is shown that both plasmas feature a tiny primary and a much larger secondary plasmas, which share the same hemispherical shape of roughly the same size at the appropriately chosen pulse energies. The resulted emission spectra in both cases exhibit one of the shock wave characteristics marked by a much stronger Zn triplet than its singlet emission lines. Further measurement of log(r)–log(t) of Cu I 521.8 nm emission line yields a slope of around 0.4, which is in good agreement with Sedov's equation derived for shock wave plasma. While exhibiting similar pressure-dependent emission intensities of Cu and Zn emission lines, the fs induced emission intensities are consistently lower than those induced by ns laser plasma. The estimated average temperature of the ns laser induced plasma (10 200 K) is only slightly higher than that induced by the fs laser (9800 K). The lower integrated emission intensity of fs plasma is related to previously reported lower electron density in fs laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (fs-LIBS) and the faster decay of the associated continuum background, implying rapid diminution of ionized atoms and hence lower integrated emission intensity. Therefore, apart from cases demanding minimal surface damages, the simpler and less expensive ns-LIBS should be considered as a more favorable alternative for spectrochemical analysis. However, the applications to surface analysis do show that the fs laser offers higher detection sensitivity. A judicial selection is, therefore, strongly recommended. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop a student’s worksheets based on scientific method as one of the supporters in laboratory, especially on the material temperature and heat can increase the science process skills. The research was conducted at SMAN 22 Jakarta Timur by comparing two classes of grade X as experimental and control class. This research used ADDIE approach to analyze, design, development, implement and evaluation the worksheet. Worksheet feasibility test results based on scientific method has been validated by experts for material and media, also validated by the user. The result of media experts are 80.96%, from material experts are 89.83% and the result of user are 83.16% from teachers and 82.88% from students. The worksheet that was validated then used to collect the data from experimental and control class. The average percentage of all aspects of science process skills increased by 11.66%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the overall worksheet based on scientific method can improve high school student’s science process skills. 23. Pembangkitan Plasma Dengan Laser Pulsa Daya Tinggi

Abstract

Dipelajari interaksi antara laser pulsa daya tinggi dengan zat padat logam dan bukan logam). Dalam interksi ini plasma dibangkitkan apabila berkas laser pulsa daya tinggi difokuskan ke permukaan zat padat. Dengan pengukuran spektroskopi cacah waktu dan cacah ruang, mekanisme pembangkitan dan karakteristik plasma dipelajari. Pada awal interkasi, energi laser diserab atom-atom zat padat sehingga material tersebut terablasi dengan kecepatan yang tinggi. Material terablasi tersebut berkompressi dengan gas lingkungan yang menghasilkan gelombang kejut dan melalui gelombang kejut ini atom-atom dalam plasma tereksitasi. Kami menyebut plasma ini sebagai plasma gelombang kejut. Karakteristik plasma yang dibangkitkan secara geometrik berbentuk setengah bola dan apabila dibangkitkan pada lingkungan gas dengan tekanan tinggi (sekitar 1 atm) diameter plasma sekitar 0,5 s/d 1 cm tetapi apabila tekanan gasnya dikurangi diameter plasma akan bertambah dan pada tekanan dibawah 1 Torr diameter plasma dapat mencapai 3 cm. Plasma yang dibangkitkan pada tekanan 1 atm berwarna putih yang sangat terang dengan latar belakang spektrum yang tinggi. Pada tekanan rendah (kurang dari 10 Torr) plasma yang dibangkitkan berwarna dengan spektrum yang tajam yaitu spektrum atomik. Analsisis spektroskopik yang telah kami lakukan menunjukkan bahwa dengan plasma gelombang kejut ini analisis spektrokimia bahan dapat dilakukan dengan sensitivitas sampai orde ppm. Keunggulan lain adalah analisis unsur-unsur ringan seperti hidrogen dapat dianalisis sampai orde ppm.

Abstract

In order to enhance a new microwave absorbing capabilities in the X-band frequency range, polycrystalline magnetic materials of BaFe12O19 barium hexaferrite were fabricated through conventional ceramic method and the Fe3O4 powder from iron sand were prepared through magnetic separation after milling process by using planetary ball mill. Microwave absorbing capabilities of multilayer absorbers, composed of BaFe12O19 barium hexaferrite and the Fe3O4 powder, with a total thickness of 10 mm, were investigated by a vector network analyzer (VNA) in the range of 8.2 –12.4 GHz. According to transmission line theory, reflection of microwave radiations from multilayer magnetic materials is calculated. The reflection loss (RL) strongly depends on thickness of multilayer absorbers and showed an optimal RL. Keywords : BaFe12O19, Fe3O4 powder, reflection loss, multilayer absorbers.

Abstract

Microwave absorption properties of double layer magnetic absorbers based on BaFe12O19 (BFO) and BaFe10CoZnO19 (BFCZO) have been investigated in X-band (8.2–12.4 GHz) frequencies. The BFO and BFCZO were prepared by using a solid state reaction process. The crystalline structures were investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD), The complex permittivity and permeability are determined using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) in a range from 8.2 GHz to 12.4 GHz. The double layer magnetic absorbers, composed of the BFO as matching layer and the BFCZO as absorption layer, with a total thickness of 5 mm, showed an effective reflection loss (RL) an effective absorbing bandwidth below –5 dB.
