This article serves as an introduction to a collection of selected papers presented at the ACNS Conference on Cloud and Immersive Technologies in Education (CITEd 2022), which took place in Kyiv, Ukraine, on December 21-22, 2022. In this paper, we raise the discussion on the use of digital learning tools by teachers of Ukrainian secondary schools for the organization of distance learning. In order to collect data we have used the survey instruments (Google questionnaire) and involved 1463 respondents who revealed the state of the use of digital learning tools for the organization of distance learning in the quarantine period caused by COVID-19 pandemic. The study was conducted in all regions of Ukraine. The results show that teachers have a need to master their knowledge and practical skills on digital instruments for the organization of distance learning with students. On the other hand the paper presents the experience on how the problem of the mastering of teachers’ digital competencies can be organized and what are the steps to the organization of special distance learning courses for teachers in Ukraine. The experience of the creation of Web portal of Ukrainian Open University of Postgraduate Education is presented. We propose on how the needs and requirements of teachers regarding the implementation of the distance learning in schools and the development of their digital competencies should be resolved.

It consists of short introduction, papers’ review and some observations about the event and its future.

The development of the information society and technological progress are significantly influenced by the learning tools. Therefore, to the variety of tools that could be used to support the study of any discipline new ones emerging lately are continuously being added. Along with the great deal of systems of computer mathematics (SCM), web-oriented versions of SCM mathematical applications and other math learning tools the cloud-based versions of mathematical software such as MapleNet, MATLAB web-server, WebMathematica and others are now being used. These tools accomplishment becomes the essential part of training mathematics teachers. Domestic and foreign experiences of using cloud services for forming professional competences of mathematics teachers are analyzed. The place of the CoCalc within the system of mathematical disciplines learning tools is investigated. The task of improving the math teachers’ ICT competence by means of cloud services use in the process of training is considered. Among the new forms of learning rising along with the cloud services dissemination are such as collaborative learning, inquiry-based learning, person-oriented learning. At the same time, the use of the appropriate cloud service in the study of some mathematical discipline improves the assimilation of the learning material and improves the knowledge acquisition process on most topics. The analysis of current research of Ukrainian scientists on the problem in question shows that the progress is underway as for further elaboration and implementation of new learning methods and techniques of using cloud services in the higher education institutions.

In the era of the fourth industrial revolution – Industry 4.0 – developing key competences (digital, multilingual and mathematical competences in particular) is of paramount importance. The purpose of this work is to investigate the content of key competences of a secondary school student and to develop a method of teaching for the integrated development of multilingual and mathematical competences in the process of teaching Programming Basics with the help of distant technologies. The objectives of the research include generalizing and systematizing theoretical data on the structure and the content of key competences and the potential of informatics lessons for the development of separate components of multilingual and mathematical competences; generalizing and systematizing theoretical data on the ways of arranging distant support for informatics learning, Programming Basics in particular; to investigate the content and the methods of teaching Programming Basics in 7th-11th grades; to develop the e-learning Moodle course using Python for Programming Basics on the principles of integrated approach to developing separate components of multilingual and mathematical competence with determining some methodical special features while using it. The object of the study is to teach informatics to junior high school and high school students. The subject of the study is the means and the methods of realizing distant support in the process of teaching Programming Basics using Python on the principles of an integrated approach to developing multilingual and mathematical competences.

After analysis of scientific literature, we defined that concept of “augmented reality” has following synonyms: “advanced reality”, “improved reality”, “enriched reality”, “mixed reality” and “hybrid reality”. Analysis of scientific literature and own practical experience of the use of augmented reality technologies application in educational practices allowed to state next: augmented reality technologies have a great potential for application in education; there are some cases of augmented reality use for school education; positive aspects of augmented reality technologies application in higher education institutions are confirmed by experiments (isolated cases); only few universities in Ukraine apply augmented reality technologies to educate students; only few universities in Ukraine have special subjects or modules in schedule to teach students to develop augmented reality technologies; various scientific events, mass events, competitions are held in Ukraine, and specialized training on the augmentation of augmented reality technologies is carried out, but this is non-systematic and does not have special state orientation and support. Features of introduction of virtual and augmented reality technologies at Sumy State University (Ukraine) are identified: “e-learning ecosystems” was created; in 2019, augmented and virtual reality research laboratory was established. Advantages and disadvantages of project activity in education are described: project activity is one of the most important components of educational process; it promotes creative self-development and self-realization of project implementers and forms various life competencies. It is determined that augmented reality application for implementation of educational projects will help: to increase students’ interest for educational material; formation of new competences; increase of students’ motivation for independent educational and cognitive activity; activation of educational activities; formation of positive motivation for personal and professional growth; conditions creation for development of personal qualities (creativity, teamwork, etc.). Current trends in implementation of educational projects were identified: most of the winner projects were implemented using augmented reality technology; augmented reality technologies were used in projects to teach different disciplines in higher education institutions. Augmented reality technology application for project activity has positive impact on learning outcomes and competitiveness of the national workforce; it will enhance the country’s position in the global economic space.

This article explores the scientific and methodological background of the creation and development of the cloud-based learning and research environment in the context of open science priorities and the European Research Area (ERA) formation. The conceptual and terminology body of the cloud-based environment investigation and the main features of such an environment are delineated. The main methodological principles of the environment design and development, for instance, the principles of open science, open education and also the specific principles inherent to the cloud-based systems are described. The study aim is to analyze the conceptual body, principles, and features of the formation and development of the cloud-based educational and research environment in the context of the open science concept. The objective of the study is to determine the prospects of cloud technologies that are used to support educational and scientific activities and to outline the principles and technologies of open science use and explore their broader application in pedagogical systems of higher educational institutions. The research methods are the analysis of official international documents, publications on the research, observation, comparison, the analysis of the experience of the educational and scientific application of cloud technologies, and experimental studies. The results of the research substantiate cloud technologies in the principles of creation and development of the learning and research environment (LRE) of a higher education institution. The concept of the cloud-based environment is explained; the characteristic features of its functioning are outlined. Additionally, the prospects and estimation of the cloud-based LRE development in the aspect of open science are defined. Conclusions and recommendations encompass the application of cloud-based open science technologies covering European research infrastructures, scientific and educational networks, European open science cloud, and also cloud services for collecting, submitting and processing data as a topical and promising trend for the development and modernization of the learning and research environment of higher education institutions.

У статті досліджено проблеми використання систем комп’ютерної математики (СКМ) у сучасному високотехнологічному середовищі, зокрема, висвітлено перспективні шляхи запровадження хмаро орієнтованих компонентів на базі СКМ, що є суттєвим чинником розширення доступу до них як засобу навчальної і дослідницької діяльності у галузі інформатичних і математичних дисциплін. Визначено роль СКМ у підготовці бакалаврів з інформатики й особливості їх педагогічного застосування у навчанні дослідження операцій. Розглянуто основні характеристики СКМ MAXIMA та шляхи організації доступу до неї як у локальній, так і у хмаро орієнтованій реалізації. Наведено результати експертного оцінювання хмаро орієнтованого компонента на базі системи MAXIMA у навчальний процес дослідження операцій.

The provision of open science is defined as a general policy aimed at overcoming the barriers that hinder the implementation of the European Research Area (ERA). An open science foundation seeks to capture all the elements needed for the functioning of ERA: research data, scientific instruments, ICT services (connections, calculations, platforms, and specific studies such as portals). Managing shared resources for the community of scholars maximizes the benefits to society. In the field of digital infrastructure, this has already demonstrated great benefits. It is expected that applying this principle to an open science process will improve management by funding organizations in collaboration with stakeholders through mechanisms such as public consultation. This will increase the perception of joint ownership of the infrastructure. It will also create clear and non-discriminatory access rules, along with a sense of joint ownership that stimulates a higher level of participation, collaboration and social reciprocity. The article deals with the concept of open science. The concept of the European cloud of open science and its structure are presented. According to the study, it has been shown that the structure of the cloud of open science includes an augmented reality as an open-science platform. An example of the practical application of this tool is the general description of MaxWhere, developed by Hungarian scientists, and is a platform of aggregates of individual 3D spaces.

The article analyzes the current stage of educational studies of the cloud-based learning systems. The relationship between the notions of the cloud-based learning system and the cloud-based learning environment are investigated. It was found that the researchers paid most attention to the design of a cloud-based learning environment. However, in the process of a cloud-based environment design, the researchers consider a cloud-based system as a component within the cloud-based learning environment of as a stage in the process of design. It is shown that in the research literature there is no single interpretation of the concept of a cloud-based system for educational purposes. Still the number of basic approaches to the interpretation of the concept under investigation are revealed. The first approach is based on the understanding of the system, as a set of cloud services or cloud-based technologies. The second approach is to onsider a separate clo d service as a cloud-based learning system. In this case, the cloud service tools should include such components that cover the content, the tools, the forms and the methods of learning. The structure of the cloud-based learning system within the interpretation of the latest works of Ukrainian researchers is considered.

The article deals with the problems of using adaptive cloud-based learning systems (ACLS) in the modern high-tech educational environment and expanding access to them as tools of educational and research activity at higher education pedagogical institutions in Ukraine. The conceptual apparatus of cloud-based adaptive learning systems application and design is considered; their main characteristics are revealed; the ways of their pedagogical application are described. The experience of Institute of Information Technologies and Learning Tools of NAES of Ukraine on designing and applying of the cloud-based learning and research environment is outlined. The results of the survey of 31 higher education pedagogical institutions on using ACLS are presented. It is established that in the near future ACLS will become the driving force behind the development of new pedagogy, new strategies for personalizing education, and expanding opportunities for active learning.

Peculiar features of digital environment include: integration of ICTs; use of local and global networks and resources; support and development of qualitatively new technologies of information processing; active use of modern means, methods and forms of teaching in the educational process. The organization of activities in terms of digital learning environment provides appropriate changes in the interaction between subjects of the educational process. Today, means and technologies of the information and communication networks (ICNs), in particular the Internet, which custom and operational-procedural properties were changed at the initial stage from closed local to open ones at present, become widespread. The development of ICNs (from closed local to open ones) changes the typology of learning environments. The following models of learning environments, which widely use ICT and ICN tools (with basic features that characterize them) are distinguished: using the local communication network for presentation of educational information; using the local communication network and open network resources; using open network resources; for independent use of open network resources directly in the classroom by a student; for use of open network resources by a student in the process of independent learning activity; for use by a student educational resources, specially created by a teacher, as well as resources of an open networks in his independent learning activity.

It is our pleasure to present you the proceedings of the 5 th Workshop on Cloud Technologies in Education (CTE 2017). The workshop took place in Kryvyi Rih (Ukraine) on April 28, 2017. This volume focused on advancing research and also academic applications of information and communication technologies related to cloud computing; history, state-of-the-art and trends in cloud-based learning and computer-based training.

The article is devoted to creating and development of the cloud based educational and scientific environment of higher education institutions, using modern approaches to the ICT infrastructure design, based on the different types of service models, including public, corporate or hybrid clouds. Object of the study: to conduct the theoretical analysis of the research trends of the cloud based higher education institution ICT infrastructure modeling in the context of the tendencies of the ICT development and standardization. Object of the study: the process of formation and development of the educational and research environment in the higher education institution. The purpose of the article: to reveal the current trends of the cloud-based service models of the learning environment design and implementation. The methods of the study: The analysis of scientific and educational literature on pro-research problems; domestic and foreign experience on the emerging ICT implementation in the learning process. Results: The main types of the service models of design and deploy the cloud-based infrastructure of the educational institution are revealed; the advantages and disadvantages of the cloud-based approach are considered; the promising ways of implementation are considered. Conclusions: there are promising ways of the learning environment cloud-based service models design and application, taking into consideration its preferences and disadvantages for the certain case study.

The 6th volume of the CTE Workshop Proceedings contains articles about the most interesting practices and ideas on the use of cloud technologies in education, carefully selected, reviewed and recommended by members of the international editorial board of the similarly-named workshop (CTE 2016), which was held in a hybrid format on April 22, 2016 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine.

The article is devoted to actual problems of research development concerning to the problems of introduction of cloud-based tools and services into the learning process. The concept of cloud-based learning environment of educational institution is considered and the main stages of its development are revealed. The current state of cloud based services use in educational institutions of Ukraine is described. An analysis of content of educational and research components of educational-research environment is made. The tendencies of cloud based services adoption in educational institutions and main trends of educational research of the problem are revealed.

The topical problems of harmonization of network tools of organizational and information technological support of teaching and learning activities, being an essential cause of improving of efficiency of educational interaction are considered in the article. The most feasible ways of rational selection and combination of network tools for model-based global educational space and distributed learning environment of open education systems are proved. The analysis of the models of network tools of Internet-based open educational systems; methodical systems of e-learning, research and educational e-library systems; publication editing in electronic journal systems is made. Expediency of knowledge-based learning systems for harmonization of network tools in terms of these models is grounded.

У статті висвітлені сучасний стан і перспективи розвитку досліджень проблем інформатизації освіти України. Визначено, що вказані питання тісно пов’язані з певними науково-методичними підходами до оцінювання якості, добору і застосування електронних засобів і ресурсів навчального призначення, інформаційно-технологічних платформ їх реалізації. Виявлено міжнародні тенденції розвитку досліджень у сфері стандартизації й оцінювання якості засобів інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій в освіті. Окреслено перспективи використання технології хмарних обчислень як платформи інформатизації сучасних освітніх систем. Обґрунтовано актуальність проведення дослідження «Система психолого-педагогічних вимог до засобів інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій навчального призначення» у контексті проблем інформатизації сучасної освіти.

У статті висвітлені питання оцінювання якості, добору і застосування електронних засобів і ресурсів навчального призначення, виявлення найбільш доцільних шляхів їх використання. Визначено, що вказані питання тісно пов’язані з певними науково-методичними підходами до класифікації й оцінювання цих засобів. Показано, що типи навчально-пізнавальної і педагогічної діяльності можуть бути системоутворюючим чинником класифікації електронних засобів навчального призначення, на підставі якого доцільно ґрунтувати методичні рекомендації щодо добору і застосування даних засобів. Обґрунтовано, що суттєвою умовою успішного залучення в навчально-виховний процес засобів інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій є врахування системи вимог до їх якості, зокрема, у їх методичному аспекті.

У статті охарактеризовано основні риси, що визначають сучасний стан реалізації доступу і доступності засобів інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій для учнів і вчителів. Проаналізовані поняття доступу і доступності е-навчання. Визначено основні чинники, що обумовлюють доступ до е-навчання: наявність матеріально-технічного забезпечення; якість і номенклатура електронних засобів і ресурсів навчального призначення; рівень інформаційно-комунікаційної компетентності учнів і вчителів та інші. Охарактеризовано сучасний стан реалізації доступу до засобів ІКТ у загальноосвітніх навчальних закладах. Виявлено основні напрями покращення показників доступу і доступності інформаційно-комунікаційних технологій навчання в сучасній освіті України.

The role of educational portals in educational environment development is characterized. An analysis of terminology concerning modern open educational environment is proposed and tendencies of its development are revealed.

In this article analysis of main stages of development of computer-based intelligent educational systems in relation to approaches of knowledge simulation is proposed. Current stage of knowledge-based computer systems application is described and perspectives of future development are revealed.

In thе article classification criteria of learner activity types with computer training tools are revealed and criterion of knowledge integration kinds is established. Recommendations as for optimization of choice and use of tools of learner activity computerization are proposed.

In the article the system features of modern computer technologies using in scientific pedagogical experiment are described. It is performed their systematization according stages of experiment realization. Advisability of e-recourse “Experiment in educational institution” using in research and pedagogical activity is proved.
