- Abstract
This study aims to (a) understand the associations between work and family and parenting stress/satisfaction, (b) analyze the variability of these associations by parental gender, and (c) test the moderator role of attachment on these associations. Data from 346 participants (173 men and 173 women), was cross-sectionally collected with the following self-report instruments: Work-Family Conflict Scale, Work-Family Enrichment Scale, Parental Stress Scale and the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale. We found differences on parenting satisfaction, significantly higher in women. We also found sex differences in the prediction of the effects of work and family conflict and enrichment on the dimensions of satisfaction and parental stress. There was no moderator role of romantic attachment in the relationship between enrichment/conflict and parenting satisfaction/stress, although avoidance was a negative predictor of parental satisfaction in men.
