Animal parasitic diseases cause major losses to the livestock industry and require constant monitoring and control. The purpose of this study was to monitor the livestock (calves, goats, sheep, pigs, dogs, chickens) for the presence of helminthic pathogens, to determine the therapeutic efficacy of levamisole-based preparations and the general toxicity of meat of experimental animals using the Colpoda steinii test culture. In 2020-2022, a considerable spread of invasive animal diseases was detected in the Kharkiv region of Ukraine. In a study of 3,500 calves, 1,000 (28.6%) were found to be persistently infected with nematodes with an intensity of 25.0-150.0 worm eggs per 1 g of faeces. In goats, the intensity of endoparasite infection ranged within 10.0-15.0 worm eggs per 1 g of faeces, while in sheep this figure reached 25.0 worm eggs per 1 g of faeces. In the study of faeces from pigs, 800 (34.8%) samples revealed the presence of helminth eggs, while mono-infestation was detected in 300 samples (37.5%). In the study of canine faeces, 10 (66.7%) positive samples were found. When examining the manure from chickens, 200 (44.4%) positive samples revealed the presence of helminth eggs. The use of levamisole dosage forms can reduce the extent of infection in animals by 50% as early as on Day 5. No worm eggs were detected in the faeces of animals from Day 14 to Day 30 of observation, and therefore the extensional efficacy of the studied products under modern conditions is 100%. Meat obtained from farm animals (pigs, calves, sheep) treated with levamisole-based preparations shows signs of general toxicity within 5...9 days after the use of the products: 5 days for pigs and 9 days for calves and sheep. At the same time, meat obtained from poultry (chickens) treated with levamisole-based preparations shows signs of general toxicity within 2 days after the end of the treatment course

Among the diseases of small pets, skin diseases are one of the leading ones. Atopic dermatitis is a common skin condition in small pets, which, according to veterinarians’ estimates, affects 10-15% of dogs and 7-18% of cats. Depending on the allergens involved, clinical signs can be seasonal or non-seasonal, and the disease usually requires lifelong treatment. The purpose of this study was to investigate the therapeutic efficacy of treating atopy in dogs and cats with the use of triamcinolone-based veterinary medications (oral suspension). Standard clinical, haematological, biochemical, and immunological methods were used in the study. The increased content of total immunoglobulin E (Ig E) in the blood of experimental animals before treatment (Group I – 3.4 times, and Group II – 3.9 times compared to the control) indicates the presence of an allergic response in the body. It was found that the tested veterinary medications do not substantially affect the haematological parameters of dogs and cats when administered orally, and in therapeutic doses do not have a toxic effect on the functional state of the liver and kidneys. It was proved that on Day 4 of use of oral suspension No. 1 and No. 2 based on triamcinolone (1%) acetonide and a complex of B vitamins in a therapeutic dosage, an improvement in the general clinical condition of animals was recorded. On Day 8 of treatment, dogs and cats in experimental Groups I and II showed improvement in skin condition: a reduction in the lesion area, absence of redness, scratching, and exfoliation. The general clinical condition of the skin of the experimental animals stayed unchanged from Day 8 to Day 12. The developed oral suspensions have a pronounced anti-allergic effect and improve the skin condition of small pets (dogs and cats) with atopic dermatitis

One of the factors of efficient intensive milk production is the creation of comfortable conditions for keeping cows on a farm or complex. Highly productive cows are quite demanding of the indoor microclimate and conditions of keeping. It is believed that the productivity of animals by 10-30% depends on this. The purpose of the study was to examine the possibility of reducing the influence of high ambient temperature on the milk productivity of cows by different approaches to the organisation of their feeding technology. The paper uses analytical, diagnostic, physicochemical, and statistical research methods. The main climate indicators were monitored during the summer period (June-August). It is established that the decrease in daily milk yield is a consequence of the negative influence of the temperature factor when the daily (from 1100 to 1700) air temperature in June-July is at the level of +26-30°C. At an air temperature of 26.5°C (about 1400), the body temperature of cows rises from 37.5-37.8°C to 38.20-38.46°C. The proof of this is a decrease in the rate of decline in the level of milk productivity of cows of the experimental groups in August when the average daily air temperature dropped to +24-26°C. It is proved that the introduction of 1.5 kg of protein feed additive with protected TEP-mix protein into the diet of highly productive cows increases the productivity of experimental cows (in terms of basic milk) by 15.7% (4.3 kg). Modernisation of the diet of feeding highly productive cows by increasing the content of non-broken down protein in the rumen to normal during temperature stress contributed to better adaptation of animals in terms of productivity and quality indicators of milk: an increase in the mass fraction of fat by 0.67% and the mass fraction of protein by 0.26%, with the content of somatic cells of 285.06±81.0–409.3±134.3 thousand/cm3

Background and Aim: Despite the positive aspects of consuming dairy products, there are also some reservations. Recently, a large number of publications have demonstrated convincing evidence of a relationship between the intake of dairy products and the development of cancer in humans. This study aimed to determine the level of insulin-like growth factor [IGF], which can cause cancer in consumers, in the milk of farm animals (cows, goats, and sheep) obtained at different stages of lactation. Materials and Methods: Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay and statistical method were used for data processing. The IGF level in milk was determined using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Milk was collected from cows of Holstein and Ukrainian Black-and-White dairy breed, goats of Alpine and Saanen breed, and sheep of Tsigai and East Friesian breed. Milk samples in cows were collected at the beginning, on the peak, and at the end of lactation. Results: The obtained results showed that the highest IGF level was detected in milk obtained at the beginning of lactation, but its level depended on the animal species. More specifically, the highest level of the hormone was typical for goat's milk and for cow's milk of Holstein breed. Slightly lower values were revealed in the milk of cows of Black-and-White Ukrainian breed and sheep. During lactation, the absolute content of IGF in the milk of all studied animal species decreased. It should be noted that the most pronounced decrease in the IGF level in milk during lactation was noted in sheep (25-40 times), and minor changes were observed in goats (12-14 times). The results also showed that there were individual variations in the IGF level in milk in farm animals. Conclusion: The highest IGF level was noted in goat's milk, and the lowest level was observed in sheep's milk. Cow's milk, in this regard, had an intermediate IGF level. The level of this particular hormone depends on the period of lactation and the individual characteristics of the animal. It is advisable to include IGF as one of the assessment factors of dairy products' safety because this hormone can cause cancer in consumers of milk and dairy products.

The results of microbiological studies of air samples of refrigerating chambers of meat processing enterprises are presented. The quantitative composition of the air microbiota of the chambers of the refrigerating shop was studied. It has been established that the technological regimes for cooling meat in cooled chambers (t = +4 °C) and deep freezing chambers (t = -18 °C and -22 °C) have no bacteriostatic effect on the life activity of mold fungi. The developed disinfecting preparation (hydrogen peroxide (8.0 - 10%), acetic acid (10%), peracetic acid (5.0 - 7.0%), stabilizing additives, water) ensures the destruction of sanitary-indicative microorganisms in cold rooms meat processing plants when applied at a concentration of 0.05% - 60 minutes, 0.1% - 30 minutes, 0.15% - 10 minutes and does not have a toxic effect on meat raw materials that are stored in chambers of the refrigeration shop after disinfection.
