O presente artigo busca, por meio da revisão de literatura, aprofundar conhecimentos sobre altas habilidades/superdotação a partir do estado da arte. O estudo aborda a teoria dos Três Anéis, de Renzulli (1986) e a teoria das inteligências múltiplas, de Gardner que irá nortear toda a relação de dados abordados, apoiando-se também nos estudos de autores, como: Alencar (2007), Freitas (2006), Perez (2008), Gama (2006) entre outros. O estudo possibilitou a compreensão das teorias abordadas, ou seja, para Renzulli (2004), a concepção de altas habilidades/superdotação é a caracterização de habilidades gerais ou específicas acima da média, elevados níveis de comprometimento com a tarefa e elevados níveis de criatividade, e para Gardner (2000) é a valorização da concretude do potencial de inteligência pelo retorno em produtos através de tecnologias, como objetos úteis à determinada comunidade.

Desalination brine mining emerges as a solution to supply raw materials to the European Union industry in a circular economy approach since valuable minerals and metals (e.g., B(III), Mg(II), Ca(II), Sc(III), V(V), In(III), Ga(III), Li(I), Mo(VI), Rb(I)) are present in seawater but in low concentrations. Brine pre-treatment is important to remove species that may impair the performance of other technologies involved and to increase recovery efficiencies. Hence, nanofiltration and calcium precipitation were proposed as pre-treatment stages. Nanofiltration was studied to separate monovalent from multivalent elements (Fonsalía desalination plant case study), while economically, it was evaluated whether it would be better to place it before (Scenario 1) or after (Scenario 2) a Ca(II) precipitation stage, considering that Ca(II) can produce scaling in membranes. Three commercial membranes were tested using synthetic brines at 30 bar. Experiments (65 % permeate recovery) showed that Fortilife XC-N and PRO-XS2 membranes presented higher Ca(II) and Mg(II) rejection than NF270. Heating the brine for Ca(II) precipitation jeopardizes the economic feasibility of the project. Scenario 1 was the best configuration since it presented lower total levelized cost (˜1.6 €/m3 inlet, without heating the brine for Ca(II) removal). In such scenario, PRO-XS2 reported the best selectivity between monovalent and multivalent elements.

A presente pesquisa tem por objetivo analisar as diferenças dos métodos de alfabetização desenvolvidos em diferentes escolas. E tem como objetivos específicos identificar as características entre os diferentes métodos de alfabetização e compreender como se dá os diversos tipos de alfabetização em contextos diferentes. Nessa premissa, esta pesquisa trata-se de uma pesquisa de natureza descritiva, de abordagem qualitativa. A população da pesquisa foram quatro professores alfabetizadores. O instrumento da pesquisa foi um questionário semiestruturado, no qual os dados coletados foram analisados e a partir disso emergiram reflexões sobre o processo de alfabetização. Os resultados ratificam a importância do professor alfabetizador, bem como sua prática em sala de aula. Outro fator marcante é a compreensão de que os educadores necessitam de formação contínua, é desse modo que irão aprimorar sua prática. A partir do estudo, concluiu-se que o professor é o agente possibilitador e que os alunos de hoje serão o futuro de amanhã.

Potable water is essential for all aspects of life and sustainable development. However, over 2 billion people live in countries experiencing high water stress. In addition, over 80% of the world’s wastewater is released to the environment without treatment. To solve these problems Veolia proposes a Reuse pilot to transform wastewater into drinking water. The pilot is designed to be a closed loop that could provide complete water autonomy to any facility. The main objectives of this project are to produce potable water from wastewater, to operate in a closed loop system, to ensure reliability and performance of the process and to demonstrate financial viability. The pilot consists of processes such as phytoremediation, micro-granular activated carbon adsorption assisted by ozonation, ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis. We succeed in producing water with drinking quality according to french legislation. The system is not a closed loop yet but we achieved a reliable hydraulic balance control that allows us to close the system in the near future. The performance of the system is reliable, in one year and three months approximately 142,6 m3 of water have been treated and not even once the turbidity of UF permeate has reached 1NTU (legislation limit). The permeability of the membrane now is around 55 LMH/bar. In our best scenario the cost of treated water is 6,01 €/m3 while the average cost of water in france is 5 €/m3. We believe that a scale up of the system will decrease the cost per m3 of water produced. In addition, for places with water scarcity the autonomy of water supply is an important advantage.

Atualmente, a indústria do concreto não opera com alta eficiência no uso de ligantes, ocasionando um impacto ambiental relevante. As centrais dosadoras convivem com altos desvios de matérias-primas e de proporcionamento, comprometendo a eficiência. Ademais, o método de dosagem de concreto adotado atualmente, por otimização experimental, apesar de funcional, incorre em ensaios excessivos e conclusões restritas. Assim, destaca-se a otimização computacional, reduzindo os recursos despendidos. A fim de contribuir para este método, visa-se criar um modelo físico para previsão da fluidez do concreto avaliada pelo abatimento do tronco de cone baseado em distância entre partículas. Para tal, elegeu-se especificamente uma central dosadora de concreto em São Paulo para cumprir a metodologia, a qual pode ser sintetizada em duas etapas prevalecentes: (1) a construção do modelo físico baseado em empacotamento e distância de partículas para a previsão do abatimento do tronco de cone, a partir das formulações base desta central, e (2) a validação experimental deste modelo, fundamentada no processo de dosagem na operação da central. Ao avaliar a eficiência desta central, encontram-se intensidades de ligante entre 7,5 e 10 kg/m3/MPa, embora este valor seja próximo do valor médio encontrado na literatura, se encontra acima das melhores intensidades. O modelo físico de previsão da fluidez estabelecido a partir das 120 formulações base contemplando dois conjuntos de materiais obteve R2 0,84. Para validar o modelo estabelecido, foram utilizados 224 dados de concretos dosados na central que consistiam em 22 formulações em uma região experimental para além da qual o modelo foi criado. Entre os abatimentos estimados, usando os dados de apenas um conjunto de materiais, e os abatimentos medidos, o R2 atingiu 0,75, já para os materiais do dia mais próximo, atingiu-se o R2 0,62, o que representa correlações medianas. Notou-se que o modelo é capaz de estimar razoavelmente o impacto das mudanças de proporcionamento dos materiais na fluidez do concreto - e, desta forma, pode ser empregado na otimização computacional -, porém necessita ser validado e aprimorado no que diz respeito à previsão do impacto das mudanças dos materiais no abatimento de tronco de cone durante a operação. Currently, the concrete industry does not operate with high efficiency in binder use, generating a relevant environmental impact. The ready-mix concrete plants handle high deviations of raw materials and proportion, compromising efficiency. Furthermore, the mix design method currently adopted, by experimental optimization, although functional, incurs excessive tests and restricted conclusions. Thus, computational optimization stands out, reducing the resources spent. In order to contributing to this method, the aim is to create a physical model to predict the concrete fluidity evaluated by the slump test based on distance between particles. Thereunto, a ready-mix concrete plant in São Paulo was specifically chosen to comply with the methodology, which can be synthesized in two main stages: (1) the construction of a physical model based on packing and distance among particles for predicting the concrete slump, using data from the base formulations of this plant, and (2) the experimental validation of this model, based on data extracted from the plant operation. When assessing the efficiency of this plant, binder intensities are between 7.5 and 9 kg/m3 / MPa, although this value is close to the average found in the literature, it is above the best ones. The physical fluidity prediction model adjusted from the 120 base formulations comprising two sets of materials achieved R2 0.84. To validate the model, 224 concrete batches of the plant were used, which comprises 22 formulations in an experimental region wider than the one the model was created with. Between the estimated slump, using only one set of materials, and the measured slump, R2 reached 0.75, while using the materials of the closest day, R2 0.62 was reached, which represents median correlations. It was noted that the model is capable of reasonably estimating the impact of proportioning changes in the fluidity of concrete - and, in this way, it can be used in computational optimization -, however it needs to be validated and improved with respect to the forecast of the impact of material changes in the concrete slump during the operation.

Drug discovery has faced many challenges, and the diversity of natural products offers a huge number of opportunities for new drug findings. Most of the potential candidates result from plants since plants have several and interesting biological activities. However, the in vivo efficacy of such candidates is frequently limited due to their low absorption. Thus, enhancing the bioavailability of natural products through the improvement of their pharmacokinetic and biodistribution features, as well as their targeting efficacy, is a crucial step in the development of new therapeutic strategies.

In recent years, the scientific community has seen increasing use of natural compounds instead of chemical compounds in medicines, food supplements, cosmetics, and dermatological products. Nanotechnology, mainly used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries, has also been increasingly used. In this context the purpose of nanotechnology is to increase the stability of active compounds, to modulate their release, as well as to improve the solubility of poorly water-soluble compounds. In this chapter, we will discuss key examples of natural products and their biological activities, as well as the advantages of using nanotechnology, combining them in food supplements, cosmetics, and dermatological products, with a brief overview of current products on the market.

Pancreatic cancer is one of the most lethal cancers, with an extremely poor prognosis. The development of more effective therapies is thus imperative. Natural origin compounds isolated from Plectranthus genus, such as parvifloron D (PvD), have cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity against human tumour cells. However, PvD is a very low water-soluble compound, being nanotechnology a promising alternative strategy to solve this problem. Therefore, the aim of this study was to optimize a nanosystem for preferential delivery of PvD to pancreatic tumour cells. Albumin nanoparticles (BSA NPs) were produced through a desolvation method. Glucose cross-linking and bioactive functionalization profiles of BSA platform were elucidated and analysed using static lattice atomistic simulations in vacuum. Using the optimized methodology, PvD was encapsulated (yield higher than 80%) while NPs were characterized in terms of size (100&ndash, 400 nm) and morphology. Importantly, to achieve a preferential targeting to pancreatic cancer cells, erlotinib and cetuximab were attached to the PvD-loaded nanoparticle surface, and their antiproliferative effects were evaluated in BxPC3 and Panc-1 cell lines. Erlotinib conjugated NPs presented the highest antiproliferative effect toward pancreatic tumour cells. Accordingly, cell cycle analysis of the BxPC3 cell line showed marked accumulation of tumour cells in G1-phase and cell cycle arrest promoted by NPs. As a result, erlotinib conjugated PvD-loaded BSA NPs must be considered a suitable and promising carrier to deliver PvD at the tumour site, improving the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

Background Knowledge of the sensory profile of coffee quality, associated with genetic and environmental factors, is of utmost importance for the international market, as well as for the productive sector. In this context, the goal of this study was to classify the quality of Coffea arabica L., cv. Yellow Bourbon, according to different scores obtained through sensory evaluations based on the Specialty Coffee Association of America protocol (SCAA), and by means of decision trees resulting from applying the CHAID method (chi-square automatic interaction detection). To that end, we used a database with the sensory characteristics of cv. Yellow Bourbon and the environmental characteristics of the Mantiqueira de Minas region, State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Results The method used exhibited promising results regarding accuracy and success rates in order to discriminate coffee sensory quality as a function of the production environment. The results obtained clearly show the effect of the coffee growing environment on the Yellow Bourbon variety, resulting in notable sensory differences in the beverage. Conclusion It was possible to discriminate cv. Yellow Bourbon coffee samples, the sensory evaluations of which resulted in scores of ≥88 points, which are associated with growing environments at altitudes of ≥1200 m. © 2015 Society of Chemical Industry.

Nos últimos anos cresceu o número de ofertas de tratamentos online para diferentes transtornos, incluindo o problemas com o uso de álcool. Este estudo teve como objetivo avaliar a viabilidade e aceitabilidade de uma psicoterapia online para dependentes de álcool e descrever os resultados clínicos iniciais. Para isso foi realizado um estudo piloto com os participantes com uso sugestivo de dependência cadastrados no site www.informalcool.org.br/bebermenos. Os convites foram realizados por e-mail e a psicoterapia proposta foi feita inteiramente por videoconferência. Observamos que entre o cadastramento e a realização da psicoterapia existem algumas etapas de perda. Foi feita a descrição dos participantes em cada etapa para melhor compreensão do perfil dos mesmos. Observou-se que o perfil prevalente para esta intervenção entre todas as etapas do recrutamento e da psicoterapia por internet foi homens, empregados, com alta escolaridade, em estágio de contemplação para mudança do comportamento de beber, com uma média de idade entre 37 e 41,3 anos e pontuação no teste AUDIT entre 22,7 e 26,0. Nenhum dos participantes da psicoterapia online havia se tratado anteriormente para o seu uso de álcool. Encontrou-se que a taxa de resposta aos e-mails convite para a psicoterapia por internet foi de 28,2%, e todos os participantes elegíveis convidados para participar aceitaram iniciar o tratamento, confirmando aceitabilidade. Dos 12 pacientes que iniciaram a psicoterapia 6 finalizaram. Houve redução no número de doses consumidas, de 9,6 doses para 3 doses por ocasião e aumento na quantidade de dias abstinente, de 14 dias para 21,3 dias. Consideramos que a amostra neste estudo apresentou boa aceitabilidade a proposta de psicoterapia por internet, ainda que se apresentem taxas de perda, uma vez que estas existem em estudos clínicos e em psicoterapia. Consideramos viável a realização de um ensaio clínico para avaliar a eficácia e efetividade da psicoterapia por internet. Although problematic alcohol consumption is a public health problem, the search for treatment is small and the supply of specialized services is insufficient. In recent years there has been an increase in the number of online treatments for different disorders, including alcohol use disorders. This study aimed to evaluate the viability and acceptability of an online psychotherapy for alcohol dependents and to describe the initial clinical results. For this, a pilot study was carried out with the participants with suggestive use of dependence registered in the site www.informalcool.org.br/bebermenos. The invitations were made by e-mail and the proposed psychotherapy was done entirely by videoconference. We observe that between the registration and the accomplishment of the psychotherapy there are some stages of loss. The participants were described at each stage to better understand their profile. It was observed that the prevalent profile for this intervention between all stages of recruitment and internet psychotherapy was men, employed, with high schooling, in contemplation readiness to change drinking behavior, with a mean age between 37 and 41.3 years and AUDIT score between 22.7 and 26.0. None of the participants in online psychotherapy had previously treated themselves for their alcohol use. It was found that the response rate to e-mail invitations to online psychotherapy was 28.2%, and all eligible participants invited to attend agreed to initiate treatment, confirming acceptability. Of the 12 patients who started psychotherapy six finalized. There was a reduction in the number of standard drinks consumed, from 9.6 drinks to 3 drinks per occasion and an increase in the number of days abstinent, from 14 days to 21.3 days. We consider that the sample in this study presented a good acceptability to the proposal of psychotherapy delivered by Internet, even though there are rates of loss, since these exist in clinical studies and in psychotherapy. We consider it feasible to conduct a clinical trial to evaluate the efficacy and effectiveness of online psychotherapy.

O presente Relatório de Estágio deve ser entendido como uma observação teórica sobre o Design Editorial, o Design de revistas de cultura e lazer e o redesign da revista Casas de Madeira, realizadas no âmbito de Estágio Curricular na empresa Tuttirev Editorial. Esta observação exigiu, em primeiro lugar, um enquadramento teórico onde são abordadas as definições de design editorial, o conceito de revista, bem como um enquadramento histórico onde é apresentada a evolução de imprensa, quer a nível mundial como nacional. De seguida, são apresentados os casos de estudo onde são analisados, em termos de panorama editorial português, duas publicações atuais concorrentes às revistas desenvolvidas em estágio. O objetivo deste Relatório de Estágio relaciona-se, não só com a apresentação de todo o trabalho realizado no âmbito do Estágio Curricular, mas visa também a apresentação de um Projeto de Estágio com o objetivo de melhorar um produto existente na empresa em questão. Esse melhoramento efetivou-se com o redesign de uma das suas revistas. Este estudo é acompanhado com o enquadramento prático, onde são apresentadas as revistas realizadas no decorrer do referido estágio, bem como o processo do redesign da revista Casas de Madeira, abordando diversas questões relativas a todo o processo criativo da revista. O relatório culmina com o cruzamento de toda a informação, chegando à conclusão de que o redesign da revista Casas de Madeira foi uma mais valia tanto para a empresa como para o crescimento pessoal e profissional do estagiário.

O presente estudo investigou a natureza das tarefas de nomeação seriada rápida, considerando três hipóteses sobre o que elas representariam: (1) medidas da recuperação de códigos fonológicos da memória de longo prazo; (2) medidas da velocidade de processamento geral; e (3) medidas de processos relacionados ao reconhecimento de padrões visuais. Participaram da pesquisa 174 crianças brasileiras cursando o 5º ano do Ensino Fundamental em escolas particulares. Análises fatoriais confirmatórias indicaram que nenhuma das três hipóteses se mostrou consistente com os dados. Porém, em um modelo de regressão estrutural construído para avaliar a contribuição desses fatores para a nomeação seriada rápida, o único que contribuiu significativamente foi o fator 'velocidade de processamento geral'. The present study aimed to investigate the nature of rapid automatized naming tasks, considering three hypotheses about what they represent: (1) measures of retrieval of phonological codes from a long-term store; (2) measures of general processing speed; and (3) measures of visual pattern recognition processes. The participants were 174 children from the 5th grade of Brazilian private schools. Confirmatory factor analyses indicated that none of the hypotheses were consistent with the data. However, in a structural regression model the factor 'general processing speed' was the only one that contributed significantly to rapid automatized naming.
