Ecuador generates lots of lingo cellulosic organic waste from cocoa, rice and corn agribusiness, and these products are rich in cellulose and can be used in fermentation processes by enzyme producing yeasts. In this study, the phytopathogenic fungus Moniliophthora roreri was isolated, characterized and the kinetics of production of cellulose was studied using rice husks, cocoa shell and cob as a growth inducer substance for a period of 20 days. The carboxymethylcellulose (CMC) was used as specific substrate to evaluate the kinetic parameters of the enzyme at different concentration of 0.5%, 1% and 1.5%; to evaluate the Vmax, Km, specific activity, kcatwe worked with the Michaelis-Menten and Lineweaver-Burk linearization and the crude enzyme was purified with ammonium sulfate. The enzyme production was increased on 10th, 15th and 20th day in rice hulls, cocoa husk and cob, respectively. There was also an increased enzyme activity and the kinetic parameters obtained from rice husk. The purification is a step to increase the specific activity of the enzyme in each of the extracts is under study.

There is an increased need for water conservation and protection for the sustainable livelihood of human beings as well as for the goodness of our environment. There is a greater awareness among the researchers, and Government organizations in the conservation of water resources in Central Amazonia region particularly in Ecuador. We have taken water sample from eight different sampling stations in the river Puyo, one of the major tributaries of river Amazon in South America. So far, no work has been carried out on the water quality of river Puyo to understand the biodiversity of macroinvertebrates and use of the same in the water quality assessment. Our final index included five matrices, namely Biotic index, Ephemeroptera,-Plecoptera-Trichopters (EPT) richness as richness measures, EPT and Chironomidae ratio, H’ and evenness (Hmax) to understand the water quality. We have also studied the physico chemical characteristics of water and coliform bacteria to assess the quality of water. All the values obtained reflect the quality of water in the sampling stations 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7, which are in the upstream located in the high altitudes as well as in the forest area, are better than the other three sampling stations 4, 5 and 8, which are located in the downstream in the urban area. In general, all the five sampling stations indicated more or less good water quality while the other three stations (4, 5 and 8) showed deterioration in water quality and thus necessitated a need for mitigation measure to save the Puyo river. The various metric values are (p value is > 0.05).

We collected water sample in two different sampling stations in the upstream and downstream of river Piatua. So far no work has been carried out on the water quality of river Piatua to understand the biodiversity of macroinvertebrates and use of the same in the water quality assessment. Our final index included the following metrics namely Biotic index, Ephemeroptera, -Plecoptera- Trichopters, (EPT) richness as richness measures, EPT and Chironomidae ratio, H’ ,evenness (Hmax) and BMWP ABI to understand the water quality . We have also studied the physic chemical characteristics of water and coliform bacteria to assess the quality of water .All the values obtained reflect the quality water in the sampling station 1 Piatua High Basin which is in the upstream is better than the station Piatua 2 CIPCA which is in down stream. In general, both the sampling stations show the slow deterioration in water quality and thus necessitated a need for mitigation measure to save the Piatua river. The various metric values are less than 0.05 (p value is >0.05).
