An unprecedented study was carried out in a mangrove ecosystem in the northeastern coast of the Brazilian Amazon to understand the behavior of climatic elements in a year with the occurrence of El Niño (2015), associated with the seasonal function source/sink of CO2 by the ecosystem. Global radiation (Rg), net radiation (Rn), temperature, relative humidity, precipitation, horizontal wind speed and direction, as well as turbulent flows of sensible heat (H), latent heat (LE), and carbon (f_CO2) were recorded using eddy covariance, a system for studying turbulent flows of heat and gases in the atmosphere. We observed a drastic reduction in rainfall volumes, which accounts for 63.7% of the expected total according to the region’s climatology. Regarding f_ CO2, the highest values of photosynthesis, autotrophic, and heterotrophic respiration of the ecosystem occurred in the wet season due to precipitation, ideal photosynthetically active radiation, lower soil salinity, and higher NDVI of the ecosystem. In the 2nd semester of the year, we observed that the decrease in cloudiness, causing a higher radiation supply in the forest canopy, accompanied by a reduction in precipitation and an increase in the value of H and soil salinity, favored the increase of foliar abscission by the dominant genus Rhizophora and Avicennia, thus influencing the reduction of magnitudes of carbon source/sink functions in the ecosystem during this season, even on high tide days.

Atmospheric processes and climate are closely linked to the carbon cycle in the Amazon region as a consequence of the strong biosphere-atmosphere coupling. The radiative effects of aerosols and clouds are still unknown for a wide variety of species and types of vegetation present in Amazonian biomes. This study examines the effects of atmospheric aerosols on solar radiation and their effects on Net Ecosystem Exchange (NEE) in an area of semideciduous tropical forest in the North of Mato Grosso State. Our results show a reduction of assimilation in the NEE with a considerable loss with the decrease of incident solar radiation of 40% and relative irradiance between 1.10-0.67. An average increase of 35-70% in net CO2 assimilation was observed for pollution levels (Aerosol Optical Depth) above 1.25. The increase of 35-70% in the NEE was attributed to the increase of up to 60% in the diffuse fraction of Photosynthetically Active Radiation, concerning its direct fraction. These results were mainly attributable to the Biomass Burning Organic Aerosols from fires over the area studied. Important influences on temperature and relative humidity of air, induced by the interaction between solar radiation and high aerosol load in the observation area, were also observed; an average cooling of 3.0 °C and 10%, respectively. Given the long-distance transport of aerosols emitted by burning biomass, significant changes in CO2 flux can be occurring over large areas of the Amazon, with important effects on the potential for CO2 absorption on ecosystems of semideciduous forests distributed in the region.

Esta pesquisa objetivou caracterizar as condições socioambientais do município de São Miguel do Guamá em relação aos municípios da bacia do alto Rio Guamá na Amazônia Oriental. Os municípios estudados foram São Miguel do Guamá, Garrafão do Norte, Capitão Poço, Ourém, Irituia, São Domingos do Capim, Bujarú e Belém, localizados no Estado do Pará. Foram utilizados os seguintes indicadores socioambientais: IDH-M, cobertura por sistema de abastecimento de água (%), cobertura por sistema de esgotamento sanitário (%), morbidade por diarréia e gastroenterite (nº de internações), disponibilidade hídrica superficial (m³/s). Os índices foram obtidos através de dados oficiais disponíveis em plataformas governamentais, durante os anos de 1991 até 2010. Para analisar a correlação dos índices entre os municípios foi utilizado o Coeficiente de Correlação Linear de Pearson (r). Foram verificadas fortes correlações entre os indicadores sistema de abastecimento de água (%), rede de esgotamento sanitário (%), disponibilidade hídrica superficial (m³/s) com os dados de IDH-M. Rede de esgotamento sanitário (%) apresentou forte correlação com morbidade por diarréia e gastroenterite (nº de internações). A correlação entre diferentes variáveis permitiu um melhor entendimento do cenário socioambiental do município de São Miguel do Guamá em relação aos municípios do alto rio Guamá, sendo uma pesquisa com abordagem metodológica pioneira para esta região da Amazônia Oriental.

This study examines the relationship between the time-series analysis of climate, deforestation, wildfire, Aerosol Optical Depth (AOD), and hospital admissions for respiratory diseases in the Eastern Amazon. Through a descriptive study with an ecological approach of an 18-year time-series analysis, we made a statistical analysis of two pre-established periods, namely, the rainy season and the dry season. On a decadal scale, analyzing the signals of climate indices [i.e., the Southern Oscillation Index (SOI) and the Atlantic Meridional Mode (AMM)], the city of Marabá presents correlations between hospital admissions, wildfire, and AOD. This is not observed with the same accuracy in Santarém. On a seasonal scale, our analysis demonstrated how both cities in this research presented an increase in the number of hospital admissions during the dry season: Marabá, 3%; Santarém, 5%. The same season also presented a higher number of fire outbreaks, AOD, and higher temperatures. The AOD monthly analysis showed that the atmosphere of Marabá may be under the influence of other types of aerosols, such as those from mining activities. There is a time lag of approximately 2 months in the records of wildfire in the city. Such lag is not found in Santarém. The linear regression analysis shows that there is a correlation above 64% (Marabá) and 50% (Santarém), which is statistically significant because it proves that the number of hospital admissions for respiratory diseases is dependable on the AOD value. From the cities in the study, Marabá presents the highest incidence of wildfire, with an average of 188.5— the average in Santarém is 68.7—, and therefore the highest AOD value, with an average of 0.66 (Santarém, 0.47), both during the dry season. It is evident that the climate component has a relevant contribution to the increase in the number of hospital admissions, especially during the rainy season, where there are few or no records of wildfires.

O objetivo desse trabalho visa por investigar a influência dos extremos climáticos, El Niño, na sazonalidade da precipitação e da vazão relacionados com os parâmetros de qualidade de água do Rio Guamá em São Miguel do Guamá, Pará. Sendo assim, utilizou-se os parâmetros físico químicos: pH, Oxigênio Dissolvido, Condutividade Elétrica, Sólidos Totais Dissolvidos, Temperatura da água e Turbidez. A coleta de água foi feita em três pontos caracterizados pelo despejo dos resíduos de atividades situadas nas margens do rio, PA (montante) indústria de cerâmica vermelha, PB (centro) efluentes de esgoto doméstico e PC (jusante) atividade madeireira, e através do método de regressão linear foram correlacionadas com os dados diários de precipitação (mm) e vazão do rio (m³/s) para dois períodos distintos, chuvoso e menos chuvoso, entre os anos de 2015 e 2017. Vale ressaltar que há um padrão invertido nos dados de chuva para a região decorrente do El Niño ocorrido em 2015 a 2016. Tal situação gerou poucas chuvas na região, ocasionando assim, fortes correlações positivas e negativas entre as variáveis do sistema nos três pontos de coleta, em virtude do aumento da concentração dos resíduos orgânicos, provenientes das atividades, nas águas do rio.

A rede hidrográfica do rio Guamá é um sistema hidrológico bastante complexo em razão da inter-relação entre ambientes rurais e urbanos que sofrem influência antrópica em diferentes graus, principalmente em razão de atividades econômicas. Nesse contexto, o objetivo do presente trabalho foi diagnosticar o uso e ocupação do solo, morfometria e a precipitação pluvial na área da sub-bacia do rio Guamá (nordeste paraense). Em seguida, com bases nas informações de variáveis físico-geográficas selecionadas estabelecer um diagnóstico sobre a vulnerabilidade ambiental. Foram usados processos de sensoriamento remoto e dados secundários para o estudo morfométrico (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission – SRTM), uso e ocupação da terra (imagens do satélite Sino-Brasileiro de Recursos Terrestres CBERS-4 – China-Brazil Earth Resources Satellite) e precipitação para os anos de 2015 a 2017 (CHIRPS – Climate Hazards group Infrared Precipitations with Stations). Para o estudo da distribuição cartográfica da vulnerabilidade ambiental foi aplicado o cruzamento de mapas base de geologia, tipo de solo, relevo, tipo de cobertura vegetal, clima e uso e ocupação da terra através da operação de álgebra de mapas e considerando-se o princípio de análise ecodinâmica. A área de estudo apresentou características físicas desfavoráveis ao abastecimento hídrico por localiza-se em altitude baixa e não ser bem drenada. Contudo, as características do relevo sugerem o favorecimento de baixo escoamento da água e baixa susceptibilidade à erosão e alagamentos. Em relação a quantidade de chuva foram registados elevados valores de precipitação (média anual mínima de 2.295 mm e máxima de 2.729 mm) que não se distribuem igualmente ao longo do ano e demonstram concordância com o comportamento esperado para a região (período chuvoso entre os meses dezembro e maio e período menos chuvoso entre os meses de junho a novembro). Notou-se maior porcentagem (aproximadamente 57%) de área classificada como solo exposto e vegetação rasteira do que área classificada como vegetação densa ou secundária (aproximadamente 42%). A redução e a ausência de cobertura vegetal primária em alguns trechos da área de estudo foram evidenciadas e demonstra-se a importância do monitoramento deste tipo de cobertura para a região. Na sub-bacia do rio Guamá as áreas de baixa, média e alta vulnerabilidade apresentaram as maiores porcentagens de ocorrência (aproximadamente 28%, 29% e 26%, respectivamente); e, representam áreas com constante ação de processos pedogênicos e morfogênicos. Desta forma, ressalta-se a importância do controle da expansão das atividades antrópicas, retirada da vegetação primária e respeito aos preceitos legais da legislação ambiental brasileira.

The aim of the current study is to analyze the vulnerability of coastal municipalities in Pará State, based on the integration of socioeconomic, epidemiological and climatic indicators. Data were combined to climate scenarios such as Representative Concentration Pathway (RCP) 4.5 and 8.5, depending on the Municipal Vulnerability Index (MVI). Results have shown that the Sensitivity (SeI) and Sociodemographic (SdI) Indices had strong influence on the current vulnerability of the investigated municipalities. The association between current vulnerability index and future climate change projections has shown that municipalities located in Marajó Island region are the most vulnerable ones - to the West of the study site, where MVI ranged from 1 (in Afuá) to 0.55 (in Soure), for scenarios 4.5 and 8.5, respectively. The current results can contribute to the effective adoption of public policies focused on prioritizing the most vulnerable municipalities and on preparing them to deal with adverse aspects of climate change. El estudio analiza la vulnerabilidad de los municipios costeros del estado de Pará, a partir de la integración de indicadores socioeconómicos, epidemiológicos y climáticos. Los datos se combinaron con los escenarios climáticos Vía de Concentración Representativa (RCP) 4,5 y 8,5, basados en el Índice de Vulnerabilidad Municipal (IVM). Los resultados mostraron que el Índice de Sensibilidad (ISe) y el Índice Sociodemográfico (ISd) señalaron la mayor influencia en la vulnerabilidad actual de los municipios. Al relacionar la vulnerabilidad actual con las proyecciones futuras de cambio climático se verificó que los municipios más vulnerables se encuentran en la región de la Isla de Marajó - al oeste del área de estudio, donde el IVM varía entre 1 (Afuá) y 0,55 (Soure) para los escenarios 4,5 y 8,5, respectivamente. Se cree que estos resultados pueden contribuir a la adopción efectiva de políticas públicas, priorizando los municipios más vulnerables y preparándolos para hacer frente a los aspectos adversos del cambio climático. Manguezais são ecossistemas com significativa relevância ambiental e socioeconômica,e o conhecimento da relação ecológica desse ecossistema com a atmosfera é defundamental importância para sua preservação e para o uso sustentável dos recursosnaturais. Diante disso, este estudo tem como objetivos analisar os sistemas meteorológicosprecipitantes e sua variação pluviométrica sazonal sobre a costa amazônica, bem comoexaminar sua influência na variabilidade da produção de serapilheira de floresta demangue. Delimitaram-se três parcelas amostrais com 12 coletores de serapilheira de 1 m2no manguezal do Sítio Experimental de Cuiarana. Classificaram-se as coletas realizadasmensalmente em folha, lenhoso, material reprodutivo e miscelânea. Utilizaram-sedados de precipitação pluvial com base na Torre Micrometeorológica e na técnicaCPC MORPHing Technique (CMORPH). Utilizaram-se as análises two-way e one-wayde variância (ANOVA) (p < 0,05) e análise de regressão linear (p < 0,05). Os resultadosindicam que a variação temporal da precipitação é modulada por diferentes sistemasmeteorológicos. A produção total anual de serapilheira foi de 9,4 ± 0,06 Mg ha-1 ano-1,da qual 67% compunha-se de fração folha. As análises da fração folha total e folha daespécie L. racemosa apresentaram correlação significativa com a precipitação (r2 = 0,36e r2 = 0,72; p < 0,05), respectivamente. Diante dos resultados, conclui-se que a produçãode serapilheira do manguezal possui direta relação com os sistemas precipitantes. Mangroves are ecosystems with significant environmental and socioeconomicrelevance and knowledge of the ecological relationship between this ecosystem and theatmosphere is of fundamental importance for its preservation and sustainable use ofnatural resources. In this sense, this study aims to analyze the precipitating meteorologicalsystems and their seasonal rainfall variation on the Amazon coast and their influenceon the variability of litterfall production in the mangrove forest. 3 plots were delimitedwith 12 collectors of 1 m2 litterfall in the experimental site of Cuiarana. The collectionswere performed monthly and were classified into leaf, woody, reproductive material andmiscellaneous. Rainfall data from the Micrometeorological Tower and CPC MORPHingtechnique (CMORPH) were used. Two-way and one-way ANOVA (p < 0,05) and linearregression analysis (p < 0,05) were used. The results indicate that the temporal variationof precipitation is modulated by different meteorological systems. In the production oflitterfall there was significant difference between the monthly production values andbetween the fractions of litterfall. The total annual production of litterfall was 9.4 ±0,06 Mg ha-1 year-1, where 67% was composed by the leaf fraction. The analyses of thefraction Total leaf and leaf of the species L. racemosa showed significant correlation withprecipitation (r2 = 0,36 and r2 = 0,72; p < 0,05), respectively. In view of the results, it isconcluded that the production of mangrove litterfall has a direct relationship with theprecipitating systems.

As mudanças climáticas podem contribuir para o aumento e a migração de vetores de epidemias e doenças. O clima é um fator que pode gerar condições que facilitam o desenvolvimento de microorganismos, e a frequente exposição da população à contaminação ambiental durante as fortes chuvas e enchentes, são considerados fatores que contribuem com maior magnitude na ocorrência de epidemias de leptospirose e de outras doenças de veiculação hídrica. Além disso, a alta densidade demográfica contribui para o aspecto explosivo das epidemias geradas em ambientes submetidos às condições ambientais propícias, como a falta de saneamento básico nos grandes centros urbanos. A leptospirose é exemplo de uma doença que apresenta surto em função das inundações, e que vem assolando as populações nos mais diversos estados do Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho é apresentar os principais fatores climatológicos que explicam a distribuição de chuvas em Belém em diferentes escalas meteorológicas e sua relação com a ocorrência de leptospirose. Nos casos confirmados de Leptospirose no município de Belém durante os anos 2000 a 2006 nota-se a baixa relação entre os casos da doença com a precipitação e a temperatura. Como pode ser verificado neste trabalho, a leptospirose não está relacionada apenas com a sazonalidade da precipitação. Fatores como o processo de ocupação desordenada ocorrido nas últimas décadas, com moradias carentes de infraestrutura básica devem ser analisados. A B S T R A C T Climate is a factor that can generate conditions that facilitate the development of microorganisms, and the frequent exposure of the population to environmental contamination during heavy rains and floods, are considered factors that contribute with greater magnitude in the occurrence of leptospirosis epidemics and other diseases of water transport. The objective of this work is to present the main climatological factors that explain the distribution of rainfall in Belém in different meteorological scales and its relation with the occurrence of leptospirosis, based on a theoretical research, with databases of TABNET and DATAUS related to the analysis of the annual precipitation anomaly from 1961 to 2007, in conjunction with the Pacific Decadal Oscillation (ODP). These data were worked on the monthly and annual scales, with the objective of analyzing the temporal variation, during the rainy season and less rainy season in the region. In order to obtain the correlation of the climatic variables and the cases of hospitalization a precipitation lag was used, on average, 30 days due to the incubation period of the bacteria. In the confirmed cases of Leptospirosis in the municipality of Belém during the years 2000 to 2010 the low relation between the cases of the disease with the precipitation and the temperature is noticed. As can be seen in this study, leptospirosis is not only related to the seasonality of precipitation. Factors such as the process of disordered occupation occurred in the last decades, with housing lacking basic infrastructure should also be analyzed. Keywords: Leptospirosis; Climate; Belém-PA.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Administração Público-Privada apresentada à Faculdade de Direito A Estratégia Europeia de Emprego surge como meio de combate ao desemprego e promoção de uma economia mais competitiva. Uma das suas introduções mais marcantes foram as políticas de emprego, que pretendem diminuir o tempo de desemprego dos indivíduos, exigindo deles uma atitude proativa.A (re)integração dos indivíduos no mercado de trabalho é incentivada através da flexibilidade de contratos atípicos e por programas de inserção, contribuindo para o número de trabalhadores precários. Pretendemos compreender se a condição social de desemprego pode ser considerada semelhante, em termos de instabilidade e insegurança, à condição social causada por contratos atípicos.Após questionarmos um grupo de desempregados, concluímos que estes se sentem protegidos pela rede de ação que atua em casos de desemprego. Contudo, estes admitiram que preferiam voltar ao ativo através de contratos atípicos, do que permanecerem com o subsídio de desemprego. Quando inquirimos os trabalhadores, percebemos que estes continuam a preferir a contratação típica e, consideram que essa é mais vantajosa do que a contratação atípica. O resultado da investigação empírica indica que ambas as condições podem ser consideradas comparáveis. Contudo, os indivíduos em condição de desemprego indicam níveis positivos de confiança na rede de proteção de desemprego, contrariamente ao que foi indicado face aos contratos atípicos. Associados a condições de trabalho precárias e potenciadoras de exclusão social, os indivíduos não vêm estas experiências profissionais com estabilidade e segurança, mostrando-se reticentes no desenvolvimento de projetos pessoais. The European Strategy of Employment has emerged as a means of combating unemployment and as promotion of a more competitive economy. A memorable introduction IS the employment politics that intends to reduce the time of unemployment between individuals, demanding from them a proactive attitude.The reintegration of individuals in the job market is encouraged through the flexibility of atypical contracts and insertion programs, contributing to the number of precarious workers. We intend to understand if the social condition of unemployment could be considered similar in terms of instability and insecurity to the social condition caused by atypical contracts.After some unemployed were questioned, we conclued that they feel protected by the network of actions that operate in cases of unemployment. However, they admitted that they preferred to return to work with atypical contracts, instead of staying with unemployment benefit. When we research workers, we realize that they continue to prefer typical hirind and we consider this to be more advantegeous than atypical hiring.The result of the empirical investigation shows that both conditions may be considered similar. However, individuals denote positive levels of confidence in the network of unemployment protection unlike what has been said of atypical contracts. Associated to precarious working conditions and potential social exclusion, individuals do not see this professional experience with stability and safety, showing reticence about the development of the personal projects.

O clima na Amazônia vem se alterando, principalmente pelas atividades antrópicas. Uma floresta primária detém de 80% a 85% de floresta de terra firme, elevada diversidade e riqueza de espécies. Com o objetivo de caracterizar o clima da região de estudo, associando à variabilidade dos oceanos, atlântico e pacífico equatorial, com a chuva (chuvas), umidade e temperatura do ar, buscando uma visão espaço-temporal da evolução climática regional em um período pré-estabelecido, além de investigar a influencia destas variáveis climáticas na densidade populacional de mosquitos na região de floresta primária, onde as informações destas variáveis foram obtidas no site do INMET/BDMET e na Torre do LBA (meteorológicos) e no site da NOAA (índices de IOS/TSM) e as informações sobre a densidade dos mosquitos foram adquiridas no consorcio entre Museu Paraense Emilio Goeldi, FIOCRUZ, Instituto Evandro Chagas e Universidade Federal do Pará que realizaram a coleta de mosquitos dentro de uma unidade de conservação (UC) em cinco campanhas com duração de 6 dias cada, realizadas no período de junho, setembro e dezembro de 2005, e fevereiro e abril de 2006. A variabilidade e a evolução do clima para a área de estudo, apresentaram elevação em suas oscilações tanto da temperatura média do ar (de »0.28°C por década) quanto dos níveis de chuva com redução nos índices de umidade do ar, indicando que mesmo com o aumento das chuvas, a floresta sugere uma atmosfera com intervalos maiores de estiagem. Existe um indicativo de elevação expressiva nos níveis de temperatura média do ar (>1.5°C), e nos índices de chuvas, além de pouca e tendenciosa redução nos índices de umidade do ar, concorrendo para um aumento significativo na densidade de mosquitos com maior amplitude na distribuição das endemias na região.

O clima e um fator que pode gerar condicoes que facilitam o desenvolvimento de microorganismos, e a frequente exposicao da populacao a contaminacao ambiental durante as fortes chuvas e enchentes, sao considerados fatores que contribuem com maior magnitude na ocorrencia de epidemias de leptospirose e de outras doencas de veiculacao hidrica. Alem disso, a alta densidade demografica contribui para o aspecto explosivo das epidemias geradas em ambientes submetidos as condicoes ambientais propicias, como a falta de saneamento basico nos grandes centros urbanos. A leptospirose e exemplo de uma doenca que apresenta surto em funcao das inundacoes, e que vem assolando as populacoes nos mais diversos estados do Brasil. O objetivo deste trabalho e apresentar os principais fatores climatologicos que explicam a distribuicao de chuvas em Belem em diferentes escalas meteorologicas e sua relacao com a ocorrencia de leptospirose. Nos casos confirmados de Leptospirose no municipio de Belem durante os anos 2000 a 2006 nota-se a baixa relacao entre os casos da doenca com a precipitacao e a temperatura. This research aimed to estimate the seasonal economic value of ecosystem goods and services from research on the use of mangroves in the Cuiarana community in the Eastern Amazon. The methodology of Total Economic Value was used, through interviews with 15 residents who extract products from the mangrove. For the ecosystem services, atmospheric carbon (measured by a micrometeorological tower), and organic carbon (monitored by soil sampling during 2017) were used. In determining product values, the quantities extracted at market prices and the value of services were estimated using carbon credits. The results indicate that the ecosystem produces 9 community assets, that generate R$ 75,033.50 (US$ 23,622.93 ha/year) and R$ 17,627.15 (US$ 5,549.58 ha/year) for capture and storage respectively. The VET value corresponded to R$ 986,132.50 (US$ 310,465.79). Ecosystem services and the economic values of atmospheric (p = 0.0278) and soil carbon credit (p = 0.0354) indicated higher importance in the rainy season due to the precipitation that favored an increase in the amount of carbon. This behavior was verified by the Principal Components Analysis (50.1%), which showed that in the less rainy season goods are more important when compared to the ecosystem services. RESUMO Esta pesquisa teve como objetivo estimar o valor econômico sazonal dos bens e serviços ecossistêmicos a partir da pesquisa sobre o uso de manguezais na Comunidade de Cuiarana, na Amazônia Oriental. Foi utilizada a metodologia do Valor Econômico Total, através da entrevista com 15 moradores que extraem produtos do manguezal. Para os serviços ecossistêmicos, utilizou-se o carbono atmosférico medido por uma torre micrometereológica e carbono orgânico monitorado por amostragem de solo em 2017. Na determinação dos valores dos produtos, as quantidades extraídas pelos preços de mercado e o valor dos serviços foram estimados utilizando créditos de carbono. Os resultados indicam que o ecossistema produz 9 bens para a comunidade em torno de R$ 75.033,50 (US $ 23.622,93 ha/ ano) e R$ 17.627,15 (US $ 5.549,58 ha / ano) para a captura e armazenamento. O valor -VET correspondeu a R$ 986.132,50 (US $ 310.465,79). Os serviços ecossistêmicos e os valores econômicos do crédito de carbono atmosférico (p = 0,0278) e do solo (p = 0,0354) indicaram maior importância na estação chuvosa devido a precipitação que favoreceu a maior quantidade de carbono. Esse comportamento foi constatado pela Análise de Componentes Principais (50,1%), que mostrou que na estação menos chuvosa os bens são mais importantes quando comparados aos serviços ecossistêmicos.

Resumen Introducción: Las emisiones de dióxido de carbono de los suelos de manglar tienen un impacto potencial en el balance global de carbono. Objetivo: Investigar la estacionalidad de las emisiones de dióxido de carbono relacionadas con diferentes estratos de la vegetación de manglar, así como las variables físico-químicas del suelo y las ambientales. Métodos: Se demarcaron nueve parcelas de 20 x 20 m (tres para cada estrato de vegetación). Las emisiones de dióxido de carbono fueron monitoreadas durante 88 días a través de la metodología de respiración basal del suelo. Resultados: Los resultados mostraron que las mayores emisiones de dióxido de carbono se presentaron en la temporada lluviosa 2017 con 21.8 (7.3 ± 3.3) mg/100 cm3 y 15.7 (5.2 ± 1.6) mg/100 cm3 en el período menos lluvioso. En análisis de componentes principales con un 56 % de varianza total, demostró que las mayores correlaciones de las emisiones de dióxido de carbono y las variables físico-químicas se dieron en el estrato adulto; la humedad del suelo, pH, materia orgánica, carbono y nitrógeno microbiano fueron las variables más correlacionadas. La prueba Kruskal-Wallis corroboró estos resultados comprobando diferencias significativas entre los estratos de vegetación y las emisiones de CO2 (P= 0.0170), y la prueba de Tukey confirmó mayor importancia estadística del manglar adulto en relación con los otros estratos (P= 0.0140). Conclusión: En las tres estaciones analizadas, las mayores emisiones acontecieron en el periodo lluvioso con promedio de 14.5 TCO2 ha/año y el estrato adulto fue el responsable de las mayores emisiones, registrando 21 TCO2 ha/año diferencia que fue estadísticamente significativa con los otros estratos (P = 0.0140). Abstract Introduction: Carbon dioxide emissions from mangrove soils have a potential impact on the global carbon balance. They are related to anthropic actions and natural processes with interspecific interactions involving physical-chemical and environmental variables. Objective: In this research, the seasonality of carbon dioxide emissions related to different strata of mangrove vegetation, soil physical-chemical makeup and physical environmental factors were evaluated. Methods: Nine plots of 20 x 20 m were demarcated (three for each of the three vegetation strata) in the Experimental Site of the Federal Rural University of the Amazon and the Federal University of Pará in Cuiarana, Salinópolis, Pará, Brazil. Duplicate soil samples were taken from each plot during three consecutive seasonal periods and analyzed in the laboratory. Carbon dioxide emissions were monitored for 88 days through the basal breathing of the soil methodology; other variables evaluated were soil moisture and temperature, hydrogenic potential, redox potential,carbon and nitrogen of the microbial biomass, organic matter and composition of sand, silt and clay. Precipitation data was obtained from the CMORPH technique of the Climate Forecast Center - NOAA. Information on tides was obtained from the Brazilian Navy’s Fundeadouro de Salinópolis. Results: The results showed that the highest carbon dioxide emissions occurred in the rainy season 2017 on average 7.5 (14.5 TCO2 ha/year) mg/100 cm3. With 10.5 mg/100 cm3 (21 TCO2 ha/year), the adult stratum was the largest source of emissions. The highest seasonal correlations of the emissions in relation to the incubation intervals occurred in the rainy season, in the adult stratum the days 1,2,3,4,3,3 and 5. Using principal component analysis (PCA) it was found that the highest correlations of carbon dioxide emissions and physical-chemical variables occurred in the adult stratum with 56 % variance. The highest correlations were found with the variables soil moisture, Ph, organic matter, carbon and microbial nitrogen. The Kruskal-Wallis test corroborated these results, indicating significant differences between vegetation strata and CO2 emissions (P= 0.0170); and the Tukey test confirmed greater statistical importance of the adult mangrove in relation to the other strata (P= 0.0140). Conclusions: In the three analyzed stations, the highest emissions occurred in the rainy period with an average of 14.5 TCO2 ha/year and the adult stratum was responsible for the highest emissions registering 21 TCO2 ha/year difference that was statistically significant with the other strata (P = 0.0140).

O objetivo desta pesquisa foi avaliar os efeitos da radiação solar incidente na dinâmica de regeneração natural das espécies em um bosque de mangue na costa litorânea paraense, Brasil. Conduziu-se o estudo no período de novembro de 2014 a outubro de 2015, no sítio experimental de Cuiarana, em 5 parcelas de 400 m2, sendo 4 naturais e 1 controle (sombrite 50%). Foram utilizados parâmetros fitossociológicos para avaliar a composição florística e a estrutura horizontal. Radiação global (Qg) foi obtida de dados meteorológicos das torres micrometeorológicas do sítio. A variabilidade espaçotemporal das espécies sob Qg foi acurada por análise fatorial em componentes principais, teste de Tukey e teste t de Student a 95% de confiança. Foram registrados 25.772 espécimes, distribuídos em três famílias, três gêneros e três espécies. O teste t de Student não apontou diferença estatística significativa entre as abundâncias nas estações chuvosa e menos chuvosa. Análise de Componentes Principais (ACP) extraiu dois componentes que explicam 91,5% da variância. Avicennia germinans e Laguncularia racemosa apresentaram crescimento tolerante a 50% de sombreamento.

As circulações de brisas marítimas e terrestres e o seu papel na precipitação no litoral paraense são amplamente investigados neste estudo. Para isso, foram coletados dados de vento (direção e velocidade) e precipitação, em uma frequência de dez minutos, a partir da torre micrometeorológica localizada no sítio experimental da Universidade Federal Rural da Amazônia (UFRA), em Cuiarana, município de Salinopólis, Pará. Além disso, foram utilizadas imagens de satélite feitas no canal visível do Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES), bem como dados do CPC MORPHing technique (CMORPH), para a visualização espacial da precipitação. Os resultados demonstram que as circulações de brisas são mais intensas durante o período chuvoso (março) em relação ao período menos chuvoso (agosto). A precipitação local observada, que pode estar relacionada com a brisa marítima, apresentou maior frequência durante o final da tarde e o início da noite. Estes resultados permitem evidenciar a influência das brisas na precipitação local.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the regimes of temperature and rainfall in Belem, PA, Brazil, with emphasis on the start of the dry season in order to provide planning support for agricultural activities during years of climatic anomolies in the region. An initial analysis was done of the metropolitan region of Belem comparing it to the typology of Amazonian climates using rainfall data from 1971 to 2014 and creating an annual index of precipitation anomolies (AIPA). The temperature regime was described using a homogeneous rainfall dataset from 1990 to 2014. The hydrological balance was estimated for the period 1990 to 2014 using an index of capacity of soil water availability equal to 100 mm to identify the months with deficit or excess of soil water. Box plots were analyzed by decade and maximums of daily rainfall for the month of August were used. The Pareto principle was applied to 9 indices to assess the effects of rainfall quantity in relation to anomalous years. Although the metropolitan region of Belem is for the most part categorized by the Af2 climate type it is possible to have prolonged soil water deficit from August through November, an effect that is intensified by the El Nino phenomenon. Furthermore, in the month of August there were years with extreme rainfall events, such as that of August 7th, 2010 where 72.4 mm of rainfall occurred representing 53% of total monthly rainfall. This event can be explained by the intense waves of humidity coming from the East that amplified local rainfall. During the last two decades extreme daily rainfall events have become more frequent, and rainfall reductions in the region have tended to intensify in areas that historically receive less rainfall such as the transition between the Amazonian and Savannah biomes. Therefore, in La Nina or El Nino years, the month of August can be considered to be the signal for meso- and large-scale atmospheric mechanisms that influence precipitation regimes and that can have a negative effect of the region’s agricultural productivity. Reliable data on the spatiotemporal variability in precipitation patterns are vital to the development of effective public policies for environmental management. The analysis of the variation in rainfall rates is currently limited severely by the dependence on data from rain gauges, in particular in regions with a relatively sparsely-distributed network of meteorological stations, as in the Amazon region. The present study investigated the variability in the precipitation and the principal rainfall patterns at different time scales in the coastal zone of the Amazon region, and associated these patterns with the precipitant meteorological systems present in the region. The study was based on the application of remote sensing (CMORPH) data taken at half-hourly intervals on a 0.088 latitude/longitude scale. The spatiotemporal variability in the region’s precipitation was analyzed at different time scales (monthly, seasonal, and annual), with distribution patterns being assessed using a Principal Components Analysis (PCA). The estimates obtained from the CMORPH data provided a satisfactory overview of the precipitation climatology of the study region at the distinct time scales. The PCA identified a precipitation gradient in the two principal pluviometric modes, which together explained 88% of the total variance in the data. The first mode explained 83% of the variance, with two distinct periods, a rainy season and a dry (or less rainy) period, which are influenced by large-scale precipitant systems, the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and High Level Cyclonic Vortices (HLCVs). The second mode, which explains 5% of the variance in the rainfall data, is associated with mesoscale systems that affect primarily the transition periods between the seasons, and depend on the southern extreme of the annual shift in the ITCZ. The understanding of the variation of precipitation patterns using high-resolution CMORPH data, with a comprehensive coverage in both time and space, provides an effective tool for the establishment of public policies at a municipal level, in particular the development of models, and the mediation of the vulnerability of local populations to climatic extremes.

Este estudo se propõe realizar uma análise observacional dos sistemas convectivos de mesoescala circular (MCSC), visando identificar como as diferentes características da superfície interferem na gênese destes sistemas. Para alcançar este objetivo, a Amazônia oriental foi divida em quatro regiões distintas: região A (nordeste), região B (sudeste), região C (sudoeste), região D (noroeste), onde, com o uso de dados de sensoriamento remoto, foram selecionados os eventos e calculado a excentricidade, tamanho, tempo de vida e o horário preferencial de surgimento dos MCSC. Os resultados mostraram que as regiões A e D concentraram 66% da ocorrência de MCSC. O horário preferencial, de formação dos sistemas, sofre variação de acordo com as características da superfície local. Na região litorânea, os sistemas tendem a se formar no meio da tarde, com pico máximo no início da noite. Nas regiões mais distantes do litoral e de topografia elevada, os MCSC tendem a se formar no final da tarde com pico máximo no início da madrugada, foi observado como a topografia da região litorânea favorece a formação de sistemas convectivos. Contudo, o fator comum encontrado em todas as regiões foi à preferência dos sistemas pelas zonas de transição entre vegetação e áreas desmatadas, principalmente ao longo da região do Arco do Desmatamento. A B S T R A C T This study proposes to conduct an observational analysis of circular mesoscale convective systems (MCSC), to identify how the different surface characteristics influence the genesis of these systems. To accomplish this, the eastern Amazon was divided into four distinct regions: region A (northeast), region B (southeast) region C (southwest), D region (northwest), where, with the use of satellite images, the FORTRACC application and data technical CMORPH, we selected the events and calculated the eccentricity, size, lifespan and the preferred time of gênesis of MCSC. The results showed that regions A and D concentrated the 66% occurrence of MCSC. The preferred moment of formation of the systems suffers variation according to the local characteristics of the surface. In the coastal region, the systems tend to form in the middle of the afternoon, with maximum peak in the early evening. In the regions more distant of coastal and of high topography, the MCSC tend to form in the late afternoon with peak early in the morning. However, the common factor found in all regions was the preference of systems by transition zones between vegetation and cleared areas, especially along the Arc of Deforestation region. Resumo O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a sazonalidade da qualidade da água superficial e subterrânea nas proximidades do lixão de Salinópolis, situado na Vila de Cuiarana, por meio da caracterização da precipitação da região e da sua influência na composição físico-química e microbiológica das águas locais. Para isso, foram observados os dados dos acumulados mensais da precipitação local, medição da velocidade de infiltração no solo e medição da vazão dos rios Cachoeira e Teixeira. Foram selecionados os parâmetros físico-químicos e bacteriológicos: pH, oxigênio dissolvido (OD), temperatura da água, sólidos totais dissolvidos (TDS), turbidez, condutividade elétrica (CE), salinidade, amônia, nitrato, coliformes totais e Escherichia coli; e os metais: alumínio, cádmio, chumbo, cobre, cromo, ferro, manganês, mercúrio, níquel e zinco. Tanto as águas superficiais quanto as subterrâneas se apresentaram inadequadas para uso e consumo humano. Parâmetros como OD, ferro, alumínio, chumbo, mercúrio, coliformes totais e E. coli estão em desconformidade com as legislações vigentes. O período chuvoso influenciou negativamente a qualidade em águas superficiais. Em águas subterrâneas, parâmetros como amônia, nitrato, ferro, mercúrio e chumbo estiveram em maiores concentrações no período menos chuvoso; enquanto, CE, E. coli, coliformes totais e alumínio aumentaram suas concentrações no período chuvoso. Abstract This work evaluated the seasonality of surface and groundwater quality in the vicinity of the Salinópolis dump, located in the Cuiarana village, by characterizing precipitation in the region and its influence on the physicochemical and microbiological composition of local waters. To accomplish this, data regarding monthly local precipitation were reviewed, and measurements were taken of the rate of soil infiltration and the rate of flow of the Cachoeira and Teixeira Rivers. The physico-chemical and bacteriological parameters selected were pH, dissolved oxygen (OD), water temperature, total dissolved solids (TDS), turbidity, electrical conductivity (EC), salinity, ammonia, nitrate, total coliforms and Escherichia coli; and the metals aluminum, cadmium, lead, copper, chromium, iron, manganese, mercury, nickel and zinc. Both surface and groundwater were inadequate for human consumption and use. Parameters such as OD, iron, aluminum, lead, mercury, total coliforms and E. coli are not in compliance with current legislation in both surface and underground waters. The rainy season had a negative impact on surface water quality. In groundwater, parameters such as ammonia, nitrate, iron, mercury and lead were higher in the less rainy period, whereas EC, E. coli, total coliforms and aluminum increased their concentrations in the rainy period.

The Student's t-test was used to statistically prove the existence of a significant difference between mean values of several meteorological variables for the active and inactive phases of the Madden–Julian Oscillation (MJO) in the Eastern Amazon. The wavelet transform was used to identify 14 cases of the MJO occurrence, in which the analyses were performed. The analysis shown that the variables influenced by the convection such as outgoing longwave radiation, mean and maximum temperature, and insolation presented differences, between each MJO phase, at significance levels of 95% or higher.

Resumo O estudo da vulnerabilidade socioambiental associado às mudanças climáticas é uma das temáticas mais discutidas pela comunidade científica internacional. Os efeitos das mudanças do clima sobre a sociedade têm origem em diferentes causas, e sua análise deve levar em consideração os contextos cultural, econômico e social de uma população. Deste modo, os estudos envolvendo riscos associados a eventos extremos de clima devem ser feitos de forma integrada e interdisciplinar. Neste contexto, a presente pesquisa visa contribuir para análise da vulnerabilidade na mesorregião metropolitana de Belém, com vistas à redução dos efeitos causados pelas mudanças climáticas e sociais. Para tanto, se aplicou o Índice de Vulnerabilidade Geral (IVG), com base em indicadores socioeconômicos, epidemiológicos e climáticos no período de 2000 a 2010. Os resultados mostram que o município de Belém apresentou o maior valor de IVG (0,61), com alta vulnerabilidade, apresentando os maiores índices de vulnerabilidade climática (1,00) e epidemiológica (0,76). Em contrapartida o município de Bujaru apresentou uma baixa vulnerabilidade, com o valor do IVG (0,14), explicada pelo valor mínimo do índice de vulnerabilidade climática (0,00) e baixos índices de vulnerabilidade epidemiológica (0,03) e socioeconômica (0,38). Espera-se que este estudo possa subsidiar a gestão de políticas públicas para os municípios, e motivar estudos da vulnerabilidade socioambiental na região amazônica, com abordagem interdisciplinar. Abstract The study of socio-environmental vulnerability associated with climate change is one of the topics most discussed by the international scientific community. The effects of climate change on society stem from different causes and effects; their analysis must take into account the cultural, economic and social context of a population. Thus, studies involving risks associated with extreme weather events must be done in an integrated and interdisciplinary way. In this context, the present research aims to contribute to vulnerability analysis in the metropolitan mesoregion of Belém, with a view to reducing the effects caused by climate and social changes. In order to do so, the General Vulnerability Index (GVI) was applied, based on socioeconomic, epidemiological and climatic indicators from 2000 to 2010. The results found that the municipality of Belém had the highest value of GVI (0. 61), indicating a high vulnerability, presenting the highest indexes of climatic (1.00) and epidemiological (0.76) vulnerability. On the other hand, the municipality of Bujaru has a low vulnerability, with a GVI value of 0.14, explained by the minimum value of the index of climate vulnerability (0.00) and low indices of epidemiological (0.03) and socioeconomic vulnerability (0.38). We expect that this study may support the management of public policies for the municipalities and encourage studies of socio-environmental vulnerability in the Amazon region, with an interdisciplinary approach.

O presente trabalho vem contribuir com o estudo da relação entre áreas verdes, temperatura da superfície e urbanização na cidade de Belém, localizada na Amazônia, no intuito de demonstrar de que forma a distribuição espacial da vegetação interfere na variável meteorológica, temperatura da superfície, alterando a qualidade de vida da população residente. Foram analisados dados demográficos do IBGE e imagem do LANDSAT 8 para quantificar aquelas variáveis. Os resultados indicaram que as áreas localizadas na parte continental, primeira légua patrimonial, DABEL e DAGUA têm as maiores taxas de urbanização, 99,02% e 98,47%, os menores índices de cobertura vegetal por habitante, 0,79 m²/hab e 0,67 m²/hab, e, consequentemente, as temperaturas de superfície mais elevadas, na faixa de 30ºC a 36ºC. Por outro lado, a parte ao norte, distrito de DAMOS, e a região das ilhas, DAOUT, apresentam, respectivamente, as melhores taxas de áreas verdes, 85,21% e 79,66%, apresentando os melhores índices de cobertura vegetal por habitante, 5.278,47 m²/hab e 1.910,01 m²/hab, e, consequentemente, as temperaturas de superfície mais amenas, na faixa de 20ºC a 26ºC. O objetivo do presente estudo visa por analisar os padroes principais dos parâmetros fisico quimicos de qualidade de agua, associados as atividades antropicas no rio Guama, em Sao Miguel do Guama, Nordeste Paraense. Sendo assim, utilizou-se os parâmetros fisico quimicos: pH, Oxigenio Dissolvido, Condutividade Eletrica, Solidos Totais Dissolvidos, Temperatura da agua e Turbidez. A coleta de agua foi feita em tres pontos caracterizados pelo despejo dos residuos de atividades situadas nas margens do rio, o ponto A (montante) industria de ceremica vermelha, o ponto B (centro) esgotos domesticos e o ponto C (jusante) atividade madeireira, e atraves do metodo da analise dos componentes principais foram correlacionadas e analisadas em uma escala temporal de 6 coletas mensais entre os anos de 2015 e 2017. A pesquisa revelou que os parâmetros apresentam diferencas estatisticas significativas entre as series amostrais anuais, e nao significativas entre a escala espacial por pontos de coleta, verificando nas Componentes Principias, CPS, fortes correlacoes em meses de coleta com baixo regime de precipitacao na regiao. Anthropological Activities in Modulating the Water quality of Guama River, In Sao Miguel do Guama, Para. A B S T R A C T The objective of the present study is to analyze, through the analysis of the main components, the correlation between the physical parameters of water quality and the discharge of waste from anthropic activities in the Guama River, in. Thus, the chemical parameters were used: pH, Dissolved Oxygen, Electrical Conductivity, Dissolved Total Solids, Water Temperature and Turbidity. The collection of water was done at three points characterized by the dumping of waste from activities located on the banks of the river, PA (boom) red ceremic industry, PB (center) domestic sewage and PC (downstream) logging activity, and through the method of analysis of the main components were correlated and analyzed on a time scale of 6 monthly collections between the years 2015 and 2017. The research revealed that the parameters present significant statistical differences between the annual sample series, and not significant between the spatial scale by points collection, and verified in the SPC strong correlation in months of collection with low precipitation regime in the region. Belem apresenta aspectos geomorfologicos e climaticos que convergem para uma situacao constante de risco ambiental. As areas de varzea, o elevado indice pluviometrico e as modificacoes decorrentes da urbanizacao favorecem a ocorrencia de alagamentos principalmente durante a estacao mais chuvosa. O presente estudo buscou entender como precipitacao e a topografia colocam a populacao em situacao de vulnerabilidade para inundacoes. Para tal utilizou-se a estimativa de precipitacao com base na tecnica do CMORPH, as cotas altimetricas foram geradas a partir de imagens do LANDSAT 8, os dados de vento obtidos pelo OpenGRADS e a mancha de inundacao obtida a partir das Cartas de Suscetibilidade a Movimentos Gravitacionais de Massa e Inundacoes da CPRM. Identificou-se que no periodo mais chuvoso a porcao continental apresenta os maiores picos de precipitacao, acima de 300 mm. Entretanto, no trimestre SON, tanto na porcao insular quanto na porcao continental, a precipitacao ficou em torno de 03 mm. O levantamento topografico revelou que a maior parte da porcao continental apresenta terrenos com cotas abaixo de 06 m em relacao ao nivel do rio. Alem disso, se notou que a mancha de inundacao da CPRM converge com o MDE, cotas abaixo de 50 m colocando a populacao da cidade em situacao de vulnerabilidade. A omissao do Poder Publico sobre esses fatores no planejamento urbano se traduz em uma vulnerabilidade socioambiental acentuada. Effects of precipitation and topography under the risk of floods in the city of Belem-PA A B S T R A C T Belem have geomorphological and climatic aspects that converge to a constant situation of environmental risk. The floodplain areas, high rainfall index and the modifications resulting from urbanization favor the occurrence of floods mainly during the rainy season. The present study sought to understand how precipitation and topography make the population vulnerable to flooding. For that, the precipitation estimation was used based on the CMORPH technique. The relief was extracted from the Digital Elevation Model and the wind data were obtained by OpenGRADS. The flood spot was generated by the CPRM. It was identified that in the rainy season the continental portion presents the highest peaks of precipitation, above 300 mm. However, in the SON quarter, in the insular portion as in the continental portion, the precipitation was around 03 mm. The topographic survey revealed that most of the continental portion presents lands with heights below 06 m in relation to the level of the river. In addition, it was noted that the CPRM flood spot converges with the MDE. Therefore, the topography of the city places it in a situation of vulnerability. Rain is one of the most important variables in climate studies in Amazon because of it is large variability in time and space scales. Many basins and sub-basins in the region are deficient in regular and uniform monitoring of data observed on the surface. Today, the remote sensing products available provide satellite estimated rainfall data for a large spatio-temporal distribution and for almost every globe. Therefore, this study aims to evaluate the performance of rainfall data obtained from remote sensing for the sub-basin region of the Guamá River, Northeastern Pará, compared to data observed on terrestrial rain gauges. In addition to identifying the spatio-temporal behavior of rain in the area. The rainfall data used were: rain measured by rain gauge (Hidroweb) and rain estimated by remote sensing and made available by the high resolution precipitation database of GPCC and CHIRPS products, for the period between 1988 and 2018. The data were compared with a remarkably high correlation (r = 0.99) and a satisfactory agreement index (d = 0.98). The two estimated databases showed an approximate overestimation of the observed precipitation and a spatio-temporal distribution consistent with that expected for the region.

O vento e um fator que pode influenciar nos processos ecossistemicos das florestas, principalmente em regioes costeiras onde sua maior atuacao pode contribuir na producao de serapilheira em florestas de mangue. Nesse sentido, foi caracterizada a variacao temporal da direcao e velocidade do vento e sua influencia na producao espaco-temporal da serapilheira em um manguezal da costa amazonica. Foram utilizadas 3 parcelas amostrais com 4 coletores de serapilheira de 1 m 2 para coletas mensais. A serapilheira foi classificada nas fracoes folha, lenhoso e material reprodutivo (flor, fruto, propagulos + estipula). Foi realizado levantamento estrutural do mangue. Foram utilizados dados de velocidade e direcao do vento da Torre Micrometeorologica da UFRA. Para avaliar a variabilidade de serapilheira ao longo do tempo e espaco em relacao a velocidade do vento, foi aplicado a Analise Fatorial em Componentes Principais (ACP). A distribuicao mensal de direcao do vento mostrou predominância no setor leste (E) e a frequencia de ventos com maior velocidade foram registrados no segundo semestre. Foram identificadas tres especies de mangue Rhizophora mangle, Avicennia germinans e Laguncularia racemosa . A ACP mostrou em 4 componentes correlacao negativa com material reprodutivo e correlacao positiva com lenhoso associado a variacao temporal do vento. Para folha a correlacao nao apresentou significância estando a producao desta fracao sujeita a outras variaveis meteorologicas. Contudo, o vento nao apresentou influencia direta na producao de serapilheira, porem sua atuacao associada a sistemas precipitantes podem contribuir de forma significativa para intensificar a producao. Wind temporal variation and Litterfall production interaction in Mangrove of the Amazon A B S T R A C T Wind is a factor that can influence the ecosystem processes of forests, mainly in coastal regions where their greater performance can contribute to the production production of litterfall in mangrove forests. Was characterized the temporal variation of the direction and wind speed and its influence on the temporal space production of the litterfall in a mangrove of the Amazon coast. Were used 3 plots and 4 traps with 1 m 2 for monthly collections. The litterfall was classified in the fractions leaf, wood and reproductive material (flower, fruit, propagules + stipules). Was a structural survey of the mangrove. Direction and wind speed data were used for the Micrometeorological Tower of UFRA. To evaluate the litterfall variability over time and space in relation to wind speed, the Principal Components Analysis (PCA) was applied. The monthly distribution of wind direction showed predominance in the eastern (E), frequency of winds with higher velocity were recorded in the second semester. In the studied plots three species Rhizophora mangle, Avicennia germinans and Laguncularia racemosa occurred. The PCA shows in 4 components negative correlation with reproductive material and positive correlation with wood associated with the temporal variation of wind. Leaf, the correlation did not present significant being the production of this fraction subject to other meteorological variables. However, the wind had no direct influence on litterfall production, but its performance associated with rainfall systems can contribute significantly to intensify production. Este artigo apresenta a acurácia do modelo estatístico “Box plot” para a identificação de eventos extremos positivos e negativos de chuva, com vista, ao gerenciamento da gestão socioambiental municipal. Para tanto, utilizou-se dados mensais de precipitação, proveniente da técnica de sensoriamento remoto para a mesorregião metropolitana de Belém, durante o período de janeiro de 2000 a dezembro de 2010. Observando a carência de metodologias específicas para a climatologia de eventos extremos e áreas correlatas a gestão ambiental, propõem-se a utilização de métodos oportunos, que visem contribuir para a análise e compressão da variabilidade de extremos climáticos e seus efeitos para a gestão socioambiental. A utilização de anos excepcionais é importante por contribuir com o entendimento das possíveis variabilidades que ocorrem na circulação atmosférica e que refletem nos meses dos anos secos e chuvosos. Portanto, o conhecimento prévio dos eventos de extremos de chuva deve auxiliar a gestão ambiental dos municípios, visando o melhor ordenamento territorial e diminuindo a vulnerabilidade da sociedade frente às intempéries do tempo. A B S T R A C TThis article presents the accuracy of the Box plot statistical model for the identification of extreme positive and negative rainfall events with a view to the management of municipal social and environmental management. For that, monthly precipitation data from the remote sensing technique for the metropolitan mesoregion of Belém were used during the period from January 2000 to December 2010. Observing the lack of methodologies specific to the climatology of extreme events and areas related to environmental management, it is proposed to use timely methods that contribute to the analysis and compression of the variability of climatic extremes and their effects for environmental management. The use of exceptional years is important because it contributes to the understanding of the possible variabilities that occur in the atmospheric circulation and that reflect in the months of the dry and rainy years. Therefore, previous knowledge of extreme events should help the environmental management of municipalities, aiming at better territorial planning and reducing the vulnerability of society against the weather.Keywords: rain, socio-environmental, statistics.

CHARACTERIZATION OF URBANIZATION AND ITS IMPACT ON SOCIO-ENVIRONMENTAL VARIABLES: Guamá and Nazaré in Belém, ParáCARACTERIZACIÓN DE LA URBANIZACIÓN Y SU IMPACTO EN LAS VARIABLES SOCIOAMBIENTALES: Guamá y Nazaré en Belém, ParáRESUMO O presente trabalho vem contribuir com a relação entre a urbanização e os dados de renda entre dois bairros, Guamá e Nazaré, na cidade de Belém, localizada na Amazônia. Foram analisados dados do IBGE, INMET, BNDO, CPRM, LANDSAT 8 e RapidEye para análise ambiental dos bairros. Os resultados indicaram que o Guamá possui 81,58% dos seus habitantes nas classes D e E. Essa configuração influencia nas variáveis físicas: possui 7,40% de áreas verdes e 92,60% de solo exposto do seu território, temperaturas da superfície na faixa predominante de 30ºC a 32ºC, além de a maior parte do bairro se encontrar nas cotas mais baixas, variando de

The effects of diffuse solar radiation (DSR), precipitation, and air temperature on survival and mortality of seedlings of açai (Euterpe oleracea Mart.) were evaluated in an estuarine floodplain forest located in the environmental protection area of Combu Island, Belém, Pará, Brazil, in the period from April 2010 to January 2011. An automatic weather station was installed in the understory of Combu Island to collect from the elements, whose location was defined by taking into account the sheer number of seedlings of açai and the incidence of diffuse radiation through canopy sunflecks on the solar panel. Six plots of 2 m × 20 m were demarcated and divided into 10 subplots of 2 m × 2 m in the directions of north, south, east, and west and two others at random around the station. The seedlings with a height between 10 cm and 2 m were quantified and monitored biweekly for survival and mortality. Data were statistically analyzed by a Pearson correlation. Initially, 1072 individuals were recorded, with a significant survival rate of 764 (71.3%) and a mortality rate of 308 (28.7%); therefore, a positive correlation between precipitation and survival was seen, while DSR directly influenced the mortality in the months of May–July 2010, mainly in continuous days of radiation above 34.56 MJ m−2 day−1.

Estudou-se o efeito da brisa maritima na cidade de Belem –PA atraves de dados de precipitacao, intensidade e direcao do vento horizontal, para os meses representativos dos periodos chuvoso (fevereiro, marco e abril) e menos chuvoso (setembro, outubro e novembro) nos anos de 2005 e 2006. Neste trabalho a tecnica de Analise em Componentes Principais (ACP) foi introduzida com o objetivo de explicar a estrutura de dependencia entre a evolucao sazonal da chuva com direcao e intensidade do vento. Observou-se que a precipitacao diaria e mais regular na estacao chuvosa quando comparada com a estacao menos chuvosa. Com relacao ao vento horizontal, notou-se que em ambos os anos e estacoes a intensidade do vento apresenta comportamento temporal semelhante.No caso da direcao do vento, notou-se giro diario no vento local, em ambas estacoes, devido aos efeitos das circulacoes de brisa maritima e lacustre. A tecnica de ACP permitiu evidenciar a relacao de dependencia da precipitacao com o vento horizontal. Dessa maneira, podemos afirma que o maximo de precipitacao observado esta relacionado ao giro horizontal o qual esta ligado a brisa maritima e lacustre. Palavras-chave: Amazonia, Brisa maritima, ACP The Effect of Sea Breeze Over Belem -PA: Using Multivariate Analysis ABSTRACT Th e effect of the sea breeze in the city of Belem – Brazil is analyzed using rainfall d ata, horizontal wind intensity and direction to rainiest season ( February, March and April ) and driest season (September , October and November ) in 2 years (2005 and 2006) . To try explaining the dependence structure among the seasonal rain evolution with wind intensity and direction is used the Principal Components Analysis (PCA ). In this paper has been observed that the daily precipitation rate is more frequent in the rainiest season than driest season. Regarding the horizontal wind , it has been noted that in both years (2005 and 2006) and seasons ( rainiest and driest season ) the wind intensity showed similar temporal behavior . In the case to wind direction has been noted a wind shift in all days over both season. It was due the effects of sea breeze and lake circulations . The technique ACP is highlighted the dependence of precipitation with horizontal wind . Thus , we can say that the maximum rainfall observed is related to horizontal wind shift . A variabilidade temporal da fauna de formigas coletadas em Caxiuanã -PA, durante o protocolo de formigas de serrapilheira do Projeto TEAM/Caxiuanã , foram estudadas a partir das condições meteorológicas locais observadas nos meses de janeiro a abril (estação chuvosa), e julho a outubro (estação menos chuvosa), para os anos de 2006 e 2007. Para isso, foram utilizados dados meteorológicos da torre micrometeorológica de Caxiuanã . Durante a estação chuvosa, notou-se o predomínio de elevados valores de precipitação e umidade do solo, e baixas temperaturas do ar. Na estação menos chuvosa, observou-se comportamento oposto ao período chuvoso. Em geral, observou-se que a frequência de formigas é maior quando há redução da precipitação e da umidade do solo; e do aumento da temperatura do ar. Os gêneros das formigas Crematogaster, Hypoponera, Pheidole e Solenopsis apresentaram maior quantidade de indivíduos. Percebeu-se ainda, que as correlações estatísticas com função polinomial de segunda ordem, entre as variáveis atmosféricas e a frequência de formigas, mostram claramente que estas ocorrem de modo inverso com a precipitação e a umidade do solo, e direta com a temperatura do ar. Assim, os resultados deste estudo corroboram a alta variação da abundância dos quatro gêneros de formigas supracitados, em função das variáveis atmosféricas em áreas tropicais. The temporal variability of ant fauna collected in Caxiuanã -PA during the leaf litter ants protocol of the Project TEAM/Caxiuanã were studied based on the local meteorological conditions observed during the months from January to April (rainfall season), and July to October (dry season) to 2006 to 2007. Data from the micrometeorological tower at Caxiuanã were used. During the rainfall season the predominance of high values of precipitation and soil moisture and low values of air temperatures is noted. In the dry season the opposite behavior compared to the rainfall season is observed. In general, it was observed that the frequency of ants is greater when precipitation and soil moisture are reduced and air temperature is increased. Ants of the genera Crematogaster, Hypoponera, Pheidole and Solenopsis have higher number of individuals. It was noted also that the statistical correlations using second-order polynomial function, between atmospheric variables and the frequency of ants, occurred in reverse mode for precipitation and soil moisture, and direct for the air temperature. Our results corroboreted to the high abundance of the four upper mentioned ant genera in relation to the environmental atmospheric condictions in tropical regions.
