Abstract

Process-based approaches for teaching biology must include teaching students the distinction between scientific and statistical hypotheses testing, and practising statistics in testing scientific hypotheses. In a traditional biochemistry course, students face difficulty in combining statistical hypothesis testing with scientific hypothesis testing. This difficulty arises due to students' ignorance about the distinction between the two types of testing and lack of opportunity to practice statistics in scientific testing.
