Proactively perceiving others’ intentions is a crucial skill to effectively interact in unstructured, dynamic and novel environments. This work proposes a first step towards embedding this skill in support robots for search and rescue missions. Predicting the responders’ intentions, indeed, will enable exploration approaches which will identify and prioritise areas that are more relevant for the responder and, thus, for the task, leading to the development of safer, more robust and efficient joint exploration strategies. More specifically, this paper presents an active intention recognition paradigm to perceive, even under sensory constraints, not only the target’s position but also the first responder’s movements, which can provide information on his/her intentions (e.g. reaching the position where he/she expects the target to be). This mechanism is implemented by employing an extension of Monte-Carlo-based planning techniques for partially observable environments, where the reward function is augmented with an entropy reduction bonus. We test in simulation several configurations of reward augmentation, both information theoretic and not, as well as belief state approximations and obtain substantial improvements over the basic approach.

The fluvial transport is a mode of transport for the transfer of products or passengers from one place to another, which is carried out through rivers and fluvial channels with an adequate depth. The fluvial transport is an important way of commerce; that is the reason why, in rivers with the sufficient infrastructures, it is very important. In South America, two rivers motivate this publication: Paraná and Paraguay rivers, that at their confluence make up the now established Paraná- Paraguay Hydroway (HPP). It is one of the largest arteries of fluvial communication and transport in the world, shared by the countries of the so-called Cuenca del Plata: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. It is the only natural Hydrovia on the planet, without the need for locks, that integrates the system of the Cuenca del Plata. In turn, from the city of Rosario and the Great Rosario, in the province of Santa Fe, Paraná River empties into the Río de la Plata, and from there into the Atlantic Ocean. The possibility of dredging to 34 feet has made this city and the Great Rosario able to receive ships of great draft and to have many port terminals. We will see its legislation, current trade, and the possible sustainability of its ports, describing to that end how other ports of the world make their certifications., El transporte fluvial es un modo de transporte para el traslado de productos o pasajeros de unos lugares a otros, que se realiza a través de ríos y canales fluviales con una profundidad adecuada. El transporte fluvial es una importante vía de comercio, por lo que, en ríos con las infraestructuras suficientes, es muy importante. En América del Sur, dos ríos motivan esta publicación: los ríos Paraná y Paraguay, que en su confluencia conforman la hoy establecida Hidrovía Paraná-Paraguay (HPP). Se trata de una de las mayores arterias de comunicación fluvial y de transporte del mundo, compartida por los países de la denominada Cuenca del Plata: Argentina, Bolivia, Brasil, Paraguay y Uruguay. Es la única Hidrovía natural del planeta, sin necesidad de exclusas, que integra el sistema de la Cuenca del Plata. A su vez, desde la ciudad de Rosario y el Gran Rosario, en la provincia de Santa Fe, el río Paraná desemboca en el río de la Plata y de allí, al océano Atlántico. La posibilidad del dragado a 34 pies ha hecho que esta ciudad y el Gran Rosario puedan recibir barcos de gran calado y tengan muchas terminales portuarias.Veremos su legislación, comercio actual, y la sustentabilidad posible de sus puertos, describiendo para ello cómo certifican otros puertos del mundo.

This study aims to construct an original interval-based composite indicator of the gender diversity considering different assumptions on the development of the composite indicator. In this way the composite indicator built can be considered more robust than a classical version of the same indicator. Composite indicators are a very important tool to analyse and evaluate policies and sectors. The problem in using composite indicators is that the results which can be obtained can be dependent to the assumptions given on their construction. In this sense we have already considered an initial approach in the construction of composite indicator (Paoloni et al. (2016) Towards a new architecture of knowledge: Big data, culture and creativity. Proceedings, 15–17 June 2016 Dresden Germany (pp. 1944–1958)). We take into account different assumptions, and we are able to construct an interval-based composite indicator. In this way we can consider a value which is useful for the comparison (the chosen assumption), a centre of the composite indicator, and the range which is related to the variability due to the different assumptions. Our work contributes to the existing literature on composite indicators in gender studies. In particular our work is addressed on providing a composite indicator of gender diversity for the listed European companies. This study is useful to policy purposes because it helps the process of decision-making which can be based on the different rankings which are derived from the interval-based composite indicators.
