Background and Objectives: Pulmonary resections are critical interventions for treating various lung pathologies, both benign and malignant. Understanding the impact of these surgeries on patients' Quality of Life (QoL) is essential for optimizing care. This study aims to compare the Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQoL) and psychological well-being in patients who underwent pulmonary resections for benign versus malignant etiologies. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted involving 117 patients who underwent pulmonary resection between January 2022 and June 2023. Participants were divided into two groups: 51 patients with benign lung conditions and 66 with malignant lung tumors. HRQoL was assessed using the SF-36 and WHOQOL-BREF questionnaires. Anxiety and depression levels were evaluated using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10). Patients were assessed pre- and post-intervention. Results: Patients with malignant etiologies were older (58.7 vs. 54.2 years) and had lower FEV1% predicted (79.1% vs. 82.5%) compared to the benign group. Malignant patients reported significantly lower scores in physical functioning (68.1 vs. 75.4), role-physical (65.0 vs. 72.3), and general health domains of the SF-36 (62.4 vs. 70.2). WHOQOL-BREF scores indicated a lower overall QoL in the malignant group, particularly in the physical health (65.3 vs. 72.1) and psychological domains (68.0 vs. 74.5). HADS scores revealed higher anxiety (9.1 vs. 7.2) and depression levels (8.5 vs. 6.8) among malignant patients. Correlation analyses showed strong associations between lower QoL scores and higher anxiety and depression levels. Conclusions: Pulmonary resections for malignant conditions are associated with a significant decline in HRQoL compared to benign conditions. Patients with malignant etiologies experience higher levels of anxiety and depression, emphasizing that clinicians should integrate specialized mental health services and tailored physical rehabilitation programs for patients undergoing pulmonary resections for malignant lung conditions to address their significantly reduced quality of life and increased psychological distress. Patients with interstitial lung diseases (ILDs) associate a large variety of comorbidities that have a significant impact on their clinical outcomes and survival. Among these comorbidities is neurological impairment. This review highlights what is known about the cognitive function, central nervous system (CNS), depression, and anxiety in patients with specific forms of fibrosing ILDs, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, sarcoidosis, hypersensitivity pneumonitis, connective tissue diseases, etc. The most common pathogenic mechanisms for neurocognitive dysfunction as well as the screening methods and tools for their identification are also described in this review. Lung cancer, the leading cause of cancer-related deaths worldwide, is characterized by its aggressive nature and poor prognosis. As traditional chemotherapy has the disadvantage of non-specificity, nanomedicine offers innovative approaches for targeted therapy, particularly through the development of nanoparticles that can deliver therapeutic agents directly to cancer cells, minimizing systemic toxicity and enhancing treatment efficacy. VEGF and VEGFR are shown to be responsible for activating different signaling cascades, which will ultimately enhance tumor development, angiogenesis, and metastasis. By inhibiting VEGF and VEGFR signaling pathways, these nanotherapeutics can effectively disrupt tumor angiogenesis and proliferation. This review highlights recent advancements in nanoparticle design, including lipid-based, polymeric, and inorganic nanoparticles, and their clinical implications in improving lung cancer outcomes, exploring the role of nanomedicine in lung cancer diagnoses and treatment. Asthma is a prevalent chronic disease, contributing significantly to the global burden of disease and economic costs. Despite advances in treatment, inadequate disease management and reliance on reliever medications lead to preventable deaths. Telemedicine, defined as the use of information and communication technology to improve healthcare access, has gained global attention, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. This systematic review examines the effectiveness of home monitoring systems in managing severe asthma. A systematic literature search was conducted in PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Cochrane Library, focusing on studies from 2014 to 2024. Fourteen studies involving 9093 patients were analyzed. The results indicate that telemedicine, through tools such as mobile applications and portable spirometers, positively impacts asthma control, self-management, and quality of life. Home spirometry, in particular, shows strong agreement with clinic spirometry, offering a feasible alternative for continuous monitoring. Digital coaching and machine learning-based telemedicine applications also demonstrate significant potential in improving asthma outcomes. However, challenges such as technology accessibility, data privacy, and the need for standardized protocols remain. This systematic review critically evaluated the impact of a pre-infection COVID-19 vaccination on the incidence and severity of post-COVID-19 syndrome and aimed to assess the potential protective effect across different vaccines and patient demographics. This study hypothesized that vaccination before infection substantially reduces the risk and severity of post-COVID-19 syndrome. In October 2023, a comprehensive literature search was conducted across three databases, PubMed, Embase, and Scopus, focusing on studies published up to that date. Utilizing a wide array of keywords, the search strategy adhered to the PRISMA guidelines and was registered in the Open Science Framework. The inclusion criteria comprised studies focusing on patients with a breakthrough SARS-CoV-2 infection who developed post-COVID-19 syndrome. We included a total of 13 articles that met the inclusion criteria, analyzing more than 10 million patients with a mean age of 50.6 years, showing that the incidence of intensive care unit (ICU) admissions post-vaccination was as low as 2.4%, with a significant reduction in mortality risk (OR 0.66, 95% CI 0.58–0.74). The prevalence of post-COVID-19 syndrome symptoms was lower in vaccinated individuals (9.5%) compared to unvaccinated (14.6%), with a notable decrease in activity-limiting symptoms (adjusted OR 0.59, 95% CI 0.48–0.73). Vaccinated patients also showed a quicker recovery and return to work (HR 1.37, 95% CI 1.04–1.79). The pooled odds ratio of 0.77 indicates that vaccination is associated with a 23% reduction in the risk of developing post-COVID-19 syndrome (95% CI 0.75–0.79). Despite the protective effects observed, a substantial heterogeneity among the studies was noted. In conclusion, a pre-infection COVID-19 vaccination is associated with a significant reduction in the risk and severity of post-COVID-19 syndrome. Sarcoidosis is a complex inflammatory disease of uncertain origin, characterized by non-necrotizing epithelioid cell granulomas (NNEGs) affecting multiple organ systems. Although many different clinical and pathological phenotypes can be present, with different organs involved, the lung is the most common site described. In this case report, we (a) present and discuss the broad differential diagnosis of a patient presenting with a solitary lung mass with clinical and imaging features of lung cancer that ultimately was confirmed with a rare manifestation of stage II pulmonary sarcoidosis, and (b) analyze and compare similar cases from the literature. Background: Obstructive sleep apnea increases (OSA) cognitive impairment risk. The objective of this study was to determine the impact of continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) adherence on global cognition using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment questionnaire (MoCA). Materials and Methods: Thirty-four new patients diagnosed with moderate or severe OSA (apnea-hypopnea index AHI ≥ 15 events/h) from the CPAP group were compared with thirty-one moderate to severe OSA patients from the no-CPAP group. In addition, all patients completed the MoCA test, a patient health questionnaire (PHQ-9) for depressive symptoms, and a generalized anxiety questionnaire (GAD-7) for anxiety symptoms, at baseline, after 6 months, and after 1 year. Results: At baseline, there were no significant differences between the two groups regarding total MoCA scores, 20.9 ± 3.5 CPAP group to 19.7 ± 2.9 no-CPAP group (p = 0.159), PHQ-9 (p = 0.651), and GAD-7 (p = 0.691). After one year, improvement was observed for a total MoCA score of 22.7 ± 3.5 (p < 0.001) for the CPAP group, and significant variance of score between groups was more accentuated for delayed recall and attention (p < 0.001) sub-topic. Moreover, PHQ-9, GAD-7 scores, and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) decreased significantly (p < 0.001) after CPAP therapy. The MoCA score was significantly correlated with years of education (r = 0.74, p < 0.001) and had a negative correlation with body mass index (BMI) (r = −0.34), ESS (r = −0.30) and PHQ-9 (r = −0.34).
