The new results from the excavations at Mursia lead to a revaluation of the characteristics and role of the Early/Middle Bronze Age (1750-1450 BC) community of Pantelleria (1750-1450 BC) in the context of exchange and interactions in the Mediterranean. On the one hand, certain types of pottery, and above all the more consistent presence of engraved decoration, suggest a reassessment of the entire Mursia complex from a Mediterranean perspective. More specifically, the generic attribution to the RTV facies in a restrictive sense no longer appears satisfactory. On the other hand, the presence of different elements of external origin, and in particular valuable elements and ceramics of oriental production, confirm the role of Pantelleria as a reference point for those navigating in the central Mediterranean. The peculiarity of the foundation by a community of presumably Sicilian origin and the interactions already attested in the early II millennium BC make Pantelleria an exceptional context for further exploration of the mechanisms of mobility, exchange and maritime control within a particularly wide geographical area. The relationships extend towards the southern Tyrrhenian, the Sicilian channel, the Ionian and, in the most easterly regions presumably stretching as far as the Peloponnese and the Adriatic coasts. The only missing evidence concerns relations with northern Africa, but we can assume that this gap is due more to a lack of investigation than to any closure towards this area, moreover documented by elements that suggest the presence in navigation of a southern Mediterranean route.

With the establishment of the cooperation project between the University Suor Orsola Benincasa of Naples and the archaeological mission in Hattuša of the German Archaeological Institute of Istanbul, directed by Andreas Schachner, and in agreement with the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism, a workgroup of the University of Naples was formed in order to carry out a 3D survey campaign concerning sections of the site of Hattusa and the entire site of azılıkaya. These activities have been finalized at creating integrated 3D models of both the territorial context and of the monuments object of the research, through the application of diverse scanning techniques, in accordance to the different levels of detail required for each subject (topography, rocky complex, the cultural spaces therein, complex of sculptural reliefs, inscriptions accompanying the divine representations) and to virtually reproduce them for safeguard, exhibition and study purposes (with particular emphasis on the epigraphic and historic-artistic point of view) all the geometric aspects characterizing the artefacts and, in many cases, not completely visible to the naked eye today.

Il manuale intende offrire un quadro aggiornato delle conoscenze nel campo dell'epigrafia micenea. Nato dalla collaborazione di un gruppo di specialisti di varie università e centri di ricerca, contiene un'introduzione alla scrittura e alla lingua dei testi micenei e un'analisi dettagliata dei principali documenti in lineare B, suddivisi per argomento. Nel primo volume, la scrittura, le pratiche scribali e quelle amministrative sono presentate nel dettaglio e messe a confronto con quelle delle amministrazioni minoiche in "geroglifico" cretese e in lineare A. Nel secondo volume, dopo una descrizione dettagliata dei settori produttivi ricostruibili in base alla testimonianza dei documenti in lineare B, è proposta una sintesi sul mondo miceneo, relativa a geografia, società, economia e religione. Ogni capitolo del manuale è corredato da un'ampia bibliografia. Chiude il volume un glossario dei vocaboli micenei discussi nel testo. La seconda edizione contiene integrazioni e aggiornamenti sulle nuove iscrizioni e sui più importanti contributi epigrafici, filologici e paleografici apparsi dopo il 2016.

During the Mycenaean era, the prehistoric settlement of Vivara was a place of intense exchanges between civilizations and people traveling throughout the Mediterranean along routes that, from the Near East and Greece, skimmed the shores of North Africa and then proceeded up to land on the coasts of southern Italy. To the island of Procida, pottery and objects arrived that, like live furrows of ancient sea lanes, the archaeological excavations are returning from the earth, and in this earth, which was mud that swept over everything, signs of disastrous events are detected, signs that have severed the succession of historical events. The subjects of our research are the new methods and tools for the detection of contexts (3D laser scanner devices for the scanning of submerged heritage, image-based systems, structured light scanners) and new forms of management and representation of data for the understanding of new forms of cultural fruition. What is being proposed here is an active approach to data production, aimed both at the recording of the moments and the space of an excavation and both at the verification of forms of their use within a scalar logic that include the study of phenomena, interpolation of data for complex analysis, teaching carried out in context with a simultaneous research activity, and forms of multi-level representation of digital information. Hence the results of our research: the activation of highly specializing training; the opening at Terra Murata of the TERRA exhibition, where every year the results of the experiments are illustrated.

Despite the clinical importance of bone metastases, we still know little about their onset and progression and current diagnostic tools lack the sensitivity and specificity required for clear early diagnosis. We therefore need to continue studying the pathogenesis of bone metastatic invasion in order to improve diagnosis. The Wnt pathway has been described as having an important role in bone carcinogenesis and metastatic progression. This study investigated the diagnostic potential of the two main Wnt inhibitors, sclerostin and DKK-1, to improve the detection of osteolytic bone metastases. We measured sclerostin and DKK-1, MMP-2 and MMP-9, the bone resorption marker TRAP5b and the metastatic marker survivin in a control group of healthy patients, in patients with primary tumors and in a group with metastasis. Sclerostin and DKK-1 were clearly high in primary tumor patients and even higher in metastatic patients, compared to controls. The close correlations with metastatic markers and bone resorption markers make sclerostin and DKK-1 promising as new biomarkers in the diagnosis of bone osteolytic metastases.

Aim of this paper is to describe the protocol of the study "Impact of a Community-based Program on Prevention and Mitigation of Frailty in community-dwelling older adults" developed in the framework of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing. This proposal has been developed by the Partnership Action groups on frailty, fall prevention and polypharmacy in older. The proposal wants to assess the impact of community-based programs aimed to counteract three main outcomes related to frailty: hospitalization, institutionalization and death. Bringing together researchers from seven European countries, the proposal aims to achieve the critical mass and the geographical extension enough to provide information useful to all older European citizens. An observational study will be carried out to calculate the incidence of the different outcomes in relation to the various interventions that will be assessed; results will be compared with data coming from already established national, regional and local dataset using the observed/expected approach. The sample will be made up by at least 2000 citizens for each outcome. All the citizens will be assessed at the baseline with two multidimensional questionnaires: the RISC questionnaire and the Short Functional Geriatric Evaluation questionnaire. The outcomes will be assessed every six-twelve months.

Selon l’OMS les soins palliatifs sont « une approche pour améliorer la qualité de vie des patients (adultes et enfants) et de leur famille, confrontés aux problèmes liés à des maladies potentiellement mortelles. Ils préviennent et soulagent les souffrances grâce à la reconnaissance précoce, l’évaluation correcte et le traitement de la douleur et des autres problèmes, qu’ils soient d’ordre physique, psychosocial ou spirituel. » (1,2) . Ces soins s’occupent donc de soulager les patients dans toute leur intégrité afin d’améliorer la qualité de la fin de vie. Cependant certains patients en fin de vie peuvent présenter des symptômes réfractaires que l’on n’arrive pas à soulager de façon adéquate malgré la mise en oeuvre de tous les moyens thérapeutiques disponibles. Ces symptômes sont définis comme réfractaires en raison du fait que toute nouvelle intervention (invasive ou non) est 1) incapable de donner un soulagement adéquat, 2) associée avec une morbidité aigue ou chronique excessive et intolérable ou 3) pas en condition de donner un effet satisfaisant dans un délai de temps jugé convenable.(3) Dans ces situations la sédation palliative (SP) peut être envisagée comme thérapie de dernier recours afin de traiter la souffrance intolérable secondaire à des symptômes réfractaires. (3) La SP est définie comme l’utilisation monitorée de médicaments sédatifs spécifique ayant comme objective la diminution, partielle ou complète, de l’état de conscience du patient pour apaiser la souffrance vécue comme intolérable résultant des symptômes réfractaire.(4) Les indications plus courantes à initier une SP considérées dans la littérature sont l’état confusionnel aigu (délirium), la dyspnée, et la douleur , ces symptômes sont aussi parmi les plus fréquents que on peut retrouver chez des patients en fin de vie, notamment dans le cas de cancers. (5) Des situations d’urgence incluant : hémorragie massive, asphyxie, crises de douleurs insoutenable et dyspnée terminale peuvent être considérées. (4,6–8) Pour toute indication le caractère réfractaire des symptômes est un prérequis nécessaire pour initier une SP.(3) On estime que la prévalence de symptômes réfractaires nécessitants le recour à une sédation palliative est de l’ordre de 10-50% avec une médiane estimée à 20-30%.
