1. Potential Chromospheric Evaporation in A M-dwarf's Flare Triggered by Einstein Probe Mission

Abstract

Although flares from late-type main-sequence stars have been frequently detected in multi-wavelength, the associated dynamical process has been rarely reported so far. Here, we report follow-up observations of an X-ray transient triggered by WXT onboard the Einstein Probe at UT08:45:08 in 2024, May 7. The photometry in multi-bands and time-resolved spectroscopy started at 3 and 7.5 hours after the trigger, respectively, which enables us to identify the transient as a flare of the M-dwarf 2MASS J12184187-0609123. The bolometric energy released in the flare is estimated to be $\sim10^{36}\ \mathrm{erg}$ from its X-ray light curve. The H$\alpha$ emission-line profile obtained at about 7 hours after the trigger shows an evident blue asymmetry with a maximum velocity of $200-250\ \mathrm{km\ s^{-1}}$. The blue wing can be likely explained by the chromospheric temperature (cool) upflow associated with chromospheric evaporation, in which the mass of the evaporating plasma is estimated to be $1.2\times10^{18}$g. Abstract

Massive stars end their life as core-collapse supernovae, amongst which some extremes are Type Ic broad-lined supernovae associated with long-duration gamma-ray bursts (LGRBs) having powerful relativistic jets. Their less-extreme brethren make unsuccessful jets that are choked inside the stars, appearing as X-ray flashes or low-luminosity GRBs. On the other hand, there exists a population of extragalactic fast X-ray transients (EFXTs) with timescales ranging from seconds to thousands of seconds, whose origins remain obscure. Known sources that contribute to the observed EFXT population include the softer analogs of LGRBs, shock breakouts of supernovae, or unsuccessful jets. Here, we report the discovery of the bright X-ray transient EP240414a detected by the Einstein Probe (EP), which is associated with the Type Ic supernova SN 2024gsa at a redshift of 0.401. The X-ray emission evolution is characterised by a very soft energy spectrum peaking at < 1.3 keV, which makes it distinct from known LGRBs, X-ray flashes, or low-luminosity GRBs. Follow-up observations at optical and radio bands revealed the existence of a weak relativistic jet that interacts with an extended shell surrounding the progenitor star. Located on the outskirts of a massive galaxy, this event reveals a new population of explosions of Wolf-Rayet stars characterised by a less powerful engine that drives a successful but weak jet, possibly owing to a progenitor star with a smaller core angular momentum than in traditional LGRB progenitors., Comment: 43 pages, 9 figures, 4 tables, submitted. 3. Homological properties of homologically smooth connected cochain DGAs

Abstract

Assume that $\mathscr{A}$ is a connected cochain DG algebra. We show that $\mathscr{A}$ is homologically smooth and Gorenstein if and only if its $\mathrm{Ext}$-algebra $H(R\Hom_{\mathscr{A}}(\mathbbm{k},\mathbbm{k}))$ is a Frobenius graded algebra. Moreover, $\mathscr{A}$ is Calabi-Yau if and only if the $\mathrm{Ext}$-algebra $H(R\Hom_{\mathscr{A}}(\mathbbm{k},\mathbbm{k}))$ is a symmetric Frobenius graded algebra. These generalize the corresponding results in \cite{HW1} and \cite{HM}, where the additional Koszul hypothesis is needed.

Abstract

Let $\mathscr{A}$ be a connected cochain DG algebra such that $H(\mathscr{A})$ is a Noetherian graded algebra. We give some criteria for $\mathscr{A}$ to be homologically smooth in terms of the singularity category, the cone length of the canonical module $k$ and the global dimension of $\mathscr{A}$. For any cohomologically finite DG $\mathscr{A}$-module $M$, we show that it is compact when $\mathscr{A}$ is homologically smooth. If $\mathscr{A}$ is in addition Gorenstein, we get $$\mathrm{CMreg}M = \mathrm{depth}_{\mathscr{A}}\mathscr{A} + \mathrm{Ext.reg}\, M<\infty,$$ where $\mathrm{CMreg}M$ is the Castelnuovo-Mumford regularity of $M$, $\mathrm{depth}_{\mathscr{A}}\mathscr{A}$ is the depth of $\mathscr{A}$ and $ \mathrm{Ext.reg}\, M$ is the Ext-regularity of $M$., Comment: arXiv admin note: substantial text overlap with arXiv:1301.4382

Abstract

Long gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) are believed to originate from core collapse of massive stars. High-redshift GRBs can probe the star formation and reionization history of the early universe, but their detection remains rare. Here we report the detection of a GRB triggered in the 0.5--4 keV band by the Wide-field X-ray Telescope (WXT) on board the Einstein Probe (EP) mission, designated as EP240315a, whose bright peak was also detected by the Swift Burst Alert Telescope and Konus-Wind through off-line analyses. At a redshift of $z=4.859$, EP240315a showed a much longer and more complicated light curve in the soft X-ray band than in gamma-rays. Benefiting from a large field-of-view ($\sim$3600 deg$^2$) and a high sensitivity, EP-WXT captured the earlier engine activation and extended late engine activity through a continuous detection. With a peak X-ray flux at the faint end of previously known high-$z$ GRBs, the detection of EP240315a demonstrates the great potential for EP to study the early universe via GRBs., Comment: 41 pages, 8 figures, 7 tables

However, the mechanisms through which CAFs influence the progression of HCC remain incompletely understood.Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing datasets (GSE158723 and GSE112271) were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database at the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) and analyzed using R software. Our analysis suggested that CAFs may promote liver cancer cell development, possibly through the interaction of pleiotrophin (PTN) and syndecan-2 (SDC2). Clinical samples from HCC patients were collected and processed into frozen sections and single-cell suspensions for Masson staining, immunofluorescence staining, and flow cytometry. Additionally, Huh7 liver cancer cells and LO2 normal liver cells were cultured and subjected to immunofluorescence assays using cell slides.Results: The proportion of CAFs in cancerous tissues was higher than in adjacent non-cancerous tissues, and pleiotrophin (PTN) expression was elevated in cancer tissues compared to adjacent tissues. These findings aligned with the results of the single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) analysis. Furthermore, SDC2 expression was significantly upregulated in Huh7 liver cancer cells compared to LO2 normal liver cells.Discussion: This study suggests that CAFs may contribute to HCC progression via the PTN/SDC2 signaling pathway. We aimed to prospectively explore the associations between serum prealbumin levels and adverse clinical outcomes after ischemic stroke in a large-scale cohort study.Methods: We measured serum prealbumin levels among 6609 ischemic stroke patients admitted at Minhang hospital. The primary outcome was composite of death and major disability (modified Rankin Scale [mRS] score ≥ 3) at 3 months after stroke onset, and secondary outcomes included death and the ordered 7-level categorical score of mRS.Results: During 3 months of follow-up, a total of 2118 patients developed the primary outcome. After multivariable adjustment, high prealbumin levels were associated with a decreased risk of primary outcome (odds ratio, 0.71; 95% CI, 0.59– 0.85; Ptrend< 0.0001) when 2 extreme quartiles were compared. Each unit increase of log-transformed prealbumin was associated with a 42% (95% CI, 28-53%) decreased risk of primary outcome. There was a better shift in the distribution of mRS score at 3 months with higher quartiles of serum prealbumin in ischemic stroke patients (Ptrend< 0.0001). Multivariable-adjusted spline regression model showed a linear relationship between prealbumin and the risk of primary outcome (P for linearity = 0.0036).Conclusion: High serum prealbumin level was independently associated with decreased risks of adverse clinical outcomes among ischemic stroke patients. Our findings suggested that prealbumin may be a valuable prognostic biomarker and indicated the importance of keeping nourished in the daily life.Keywords: prealbumin, ischemic stroke, prognosis, cohort study

Based on the results of pneumatic reduction, the patients were divided into two groups: the successful reduction group (control group) and the failed reduction group (operation group). The total sample was randomly divided into a training set and a validation set in a 7:3 ratio. Logistic regression analysis was performed to establish a predictive model for surgical risk.Results: A total of 1041 samples were included in this study, with 852 in the control group and 189 in the operation group. Among the total sample, 728 cases were used for training and 313 cases were used for validation. Logistic regression analysis of the training set identified age, time of abdominal pain, presence or absence of hematostoecia, C-reactive protein value from blood test on admission, and nested position indicated by B-ultrasound as independent predictors of intussusception intervention. Based on the five independent risk factors identified through multivariate logistic regression, a nomogram was successfully constructed to predict the failure of resetting by air enema under X-ray.Conclusion: A nomogram was developed to predict the need for surgical intervention after intussusception pneumatic reduction in children. The nomogram was based on clinical risk factors including age, time of abdominal pain, presence or absence of blood in stool, value of C-reactive protein in blood test on admission, and nested position indicated by B-ultrasound. The association rules between the acupoints were further described using SPSS Modeler 18.0.Results: A total of 67 papers were included, involving 51 acupoints for Guasha against primary headaches. The most commonly used acupoints were Fengchi, Baihui, Taiyang, Shuaigu, Tianzhu, and Hegu. The goal was to enhance treatment guidance through precise subtype delineation.Methods: Study Cohort: This study encompassed a cohort of 119 patients diagnosed with MMRd-EC between 2015 and 2022. Analyses using t-tests and Mann–Whitney U-tests were performed to assess prognostic markers and peripheral blood immune cell profiles in patients with MutS deficiency (MutS-d) versus those with MutL deficiency (MutL-d). Logistic regression analysis was used to identify independent risk factors. Bioinformatics Analysis: An online database was used to assess the prognostic implications, immune cell infiltration, and immune checkpoint involvement associated with the deficiency of MutS versus MutL in EC.Results: Patients with MutL-d exhibited heightened risk factors, including elevated cancer grade and increased myometrial invasion, leading to poorer prognosis and shorter overall survival and progression-free survival. Regarding systemic immune status, patients with MutL-d demonstrated decreased peripheral blood lymphocyte percentage, lymphocyte count, and CD8+ T cell percentage. For local immunity, the infiltration of natural killer cells, CD8+ T cells, and cytotoxic T lymphocytes in the tumor tissue was reduced in patients with MutL-d. Additionally, patients with MutL-d exhibited lower expression of immune checkpoint markers. The composition of immune subtypes and survival outcomes also indicate that patients with MutL-d have a poorer immune status and prognosis than the patients with MutS-d.Conclusion: Patients with MMRd-EC can be subclassified according to MutS or MutL deficiency. Patients with MutS-d exhibited better immune status, prognosis, and immunotherapy benefits than those with MutL-d. The association between epithelial cell heterogeneity, prognosis, and immune response in this cancer remains uncertain. This study aimed to investigate epithelial cell heterogeneity in ESCC and develop a predictive risk model using the identified cell types.Methods: Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and differential ESCC gene data were accessed from the Gene Expression Omnibus. Functional enrichment analysis, inferCNV, cell development trajectories, and intercellular communication were analyzed following epithelial cell characterization. Differentially expressed ESCC (n = 773) and epithelial cell marker genes (n = 3407) were intersected to obtain core genes, and epithelial cell-related prognostic genes were identified. LASSO regression analysis was used to construct a prognostic model. The external dataset GSE53624 was used to further validate the stability of the model. Drug sensitivity predictions, and immune cell infiltration were analyzed. Molecular docking clarified the possible therapeutic role of β-sitosterol in ESCC. Finally, wound healing assay, cell colony, and transwell assay were constructed to detect the effects of the core gene PDLIM2 on ESCC cell proliferation, invasion, and migration.Results: Eight cell clusters were identified, and epithelial cells were categorized into tumor and paratumor groups. The tumor group possessed more chromosomal variants than the paratumor group. Epithelial cells were associated with multiple cell types and significantly correlated with the Wnt, transforming growth factor, and epidermal growth factor signaling pathways. From 231 intersected genes, five core genes were screened for use in the risk model: CTSL, LAPTM4B, MYO10, NCF2, and PDLIM2. These genes may contribute to the cancerous transformation of normal esophageal epithelial cells and thereby act as biomarkers and potential therapeutic targets in patients with ESCC. β-Sitosterol furthermore displayed excellent docking potential with these genes. Meanwhile, further experiments demonstrated that the gene PDLIM2 plays a major role in the progression of oesophageal squamous carcinoma.Conclusion: We successfully developed a risk model for the prognosis of ESCC based on epithelial cells that addresses the response of ESCC to immunotherapy and offers novel cancer treatment options.Keywords: ESCC, epithelial cells, risk signature, β-sitosterol, TME

Pregnant women who delivered at two tertiary referral hospitals from January 2013 to December 2022 and were ultimately pathologically diagnosed with placenta accreta spectrum were included. They were divided into three groups based on different placental locations (anterior, posterior, and lateral wall/fundus). The differences in prenatal diagnosis, clinical characteristics, and perinatal outcomes among the three groups were compared.Results: There were 115,470 deliveries in a ten-year period at the two hospitals, and 118 case patients were confirmed to have a pathologically diagnosed placenta accreta spectrum. The posterior placenta group had a lower rate of placenta previa (76.9% vs 94.9% vs 100%, p< 0.05) and a higher gestational age at delivery (36.4± 2.45 vs 34.91± 1.76 vs 34.31± 3.41, p< 0.05) compared to the other two groups. The anterior placenta group had a significantly higher rate of invasive (increta/percreta) form placenta accreta spectrum (81.4% vs 36.5% vs 28.6%, p< 0.05) and planned cesarean section (96.6% vs 80.8% vs 71.4%, p< 0.05) compared to the other two groups. In terms of prenatal diagnosis, the anterior placenta group had a significantly higher rate of placenta accreta spectrum prenatal suspicion rate compared to the other two groups (86.4% vs 36.5% vs 57.1%, p< 0.05). The posterior placenta group had a lower rate of preoperative abdominal aortic balloon placement compared to the other two groups (5.8% vs 28.8% vs 28.6%, p< 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences among the three groups in primary perinatal outcomes, though the anterior placenta group had a longer postoperative hospital stay.Conclusion: The prenatal diagnosis rate and proportion of invasive form of placenta accreta spectrum occurring in non-anterior placenta are relatively lower than anterior placenta. DRA typically occurs in pregnant and postpartum women. We aimed to determine the risk factors and patient-reported outcomes (PROs) of DRA in Chinese postpartum women.Methods: This observational study was conducted in Hangzhou Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and involved 534 women who filled out the following risk-factor and PRO questionnaires: SF-MPQ-2, SF-ICIQ, LDQ, EPDS, MBIS, HerQles, and SF-36 (all Chinese versions). The inter-recti distance was measured by palpation. Statistical analyses were performed using SPSS v25.0 software and the Mann–Whitney U-test, chi-square test, binary logistic regression analysis (for risk factors of DRA), and the Kendall and Spearman tests (for correlation analysis).Results: After childbirth, 78.1% (417/534) of the enrolled women had DRA. Abdominal surgery (P = 0.002), number of pregnancies (P = 0.035), parity (P = 0.012), number of births (P = 0.02), fetal birth weight (P = 0.014), and waist-to-hip ratio in the supine position (P = 0.045) significantly differed between the DRA and non-DRA groups. Caesarean delivery was an independent risk factor for DRA. The PROs were significantly worse in the DRA group than in the non-DRA group.Conclusion: Caesarean delivery was an independent risk factor for DRA. The participants were enrolled and an electronic questionnaire was exclusively sent to the members of the Lung Cancer Special Committee of the China Medicine Education Association through the WeChat platform. Multivariable logistic regression analysis was performed to explore the associated factors of high PR knowledge scores (≥ 18 points).Results: From the 858 valid questionnaires, the routine implementation of PR was only reported for 16.95% of physicians. The main reason hindering the implementation of PR for patients was the limited knowledge and awareness of PR among the physicians involved (69.1%). A total of 618 and 240 physicians had high and low knowledge scores, respectively. Multivariable analysis suggests that the self-perception of PR knowledge (OR = 1.89, 95% CI: 1.32– 2.771, P = 0.001) was independently associated with high knowledge scores, while having no theoretical knowledge of PR was associated with poor knowledge scores (OR = 0.43, 95% CI: 0.26– 0.72, P = 0.001).Conclusion: Inadequate knowledge of pulmonary rehabilitation is evident among physicians who are involved in pulmonary disease management in China. Single-nucleon knockout reaction studies of the proton-dripline nuclei $^9$C and $^{13}$O suggest an appreciable suppression of spectroscopic factors. In this work, we calculate the one-neutron and one-proton spectroscopic factors for the mirror pair $^9$C-$^9$Li and $^{13}$O using two variants of the continuum shell model: the complex-energy Gamow Shell Model and the real-energy Shell Model Embedded in the Continuum. Background: Weakly bound and unbound nuclei close to particle drip lines are laboratories of new nuclear structure physics at the extremes of neutron/proton excess. The comprehensive description of these systems requires an open quantum system framework that is capable of treating resonant and nonresonant many-body states on equal footing. Purpose: In this work, we construct the minimal complex-energy configuration interaction approach to describe binding energies and spectra of selected 5 $\leq$ A $\leq$ 11 nuclei. Method: We employ the complex-energy Gamow shell model (GSM) assuming a rigid $^4$He core. The effective Hamiltonian, consisting of a core-nucleon Woods-Saxon potential and a simplified version of the Furutani-Horiuchi-Tamagaki interaction with the mass-dependent scaling, is optimized in the sp space. To diagonalize the Hamiltonian matrix, we employ the Davidson method and the Density Matrix Renormalization Group technique. Results: Our optimized GSM Hamiltonian offers a good reproduction of binding energies and spectra with the root-mean-square (rms) deviation from experiment of 160 keV. Since the model performs well when used to predict known excitations that have not been included in the fit, it can serve as a reliable tool to describe poorly known states. A case in point is our prediction for the pair of unbound mirror nuclei $^{10}$Li-$^{10}$N in which a huge Thomas-Ehrman shift dramatically alters the pattern of low-energy excitations. Abstract

The New Horizons spacecraft's encounter with the cold classical Kuiper belt object (486958) Arrokoth (formerly 2014 MU69) revealed a contact-binary planetesimal. We investigate how it formed, finding it is the product of a gentle, low-speed merger in the early Solar System. Its two lenticular lobes suggest low-velocity accumulation of numerous smaller planetesimals within a gravitationally collapsing, solid particle cloud. The geometric alignment of the lobes indicates the lobes were a co-orbiting binary that experienced angular momentum loss and subsequent merger, possibly due to dynamical friction and collisions within the cloud or later gas drag. Abstract

In multipole-bound anions, the excess electron is attached by a short-range multipole potential of a neutral molecule. Such anions are prototypical marginally-bound open quantum systems. In particular, around the critical multipole moment required to attach the valence electron, multipole-bound anions exhibit critical behavior associated with a transition from bound states dominated by low-$\ell$ partial waves to the electron continuum. In this work, multipole-bound anions are described using a nonadiabatic electron-plus-rotor model. The electron-molecule pseudo-potential is represented by a short-range multipole field with a Gaussian form-factor. The resulting coupled-channel Schr\"odinger equation is solved by means of the Berggren expansion method, in which the electron's wave function is decomposed into bound states, narrow resonances, and the non-resonant scattering continuum. We show that the Gaussian model predicts the critical transition at the detachment threshold. Resonant states, including bound states, decaying resonances, subthreshold resonances, and antibound states are studied, and exceptional points where two resonant states coalesce are predicted. Abstract

A differential graded (DG for short) free algebra $\mathcal{A}$ is a connected cochain DG algebra such that its underlying graded algebra is $$\mathcal{A}^{\#}=\k\langle x_1,x_2,\cdots, x_n\rangle,\,\, \text{with}\,\, |x_i|=1,\,\, \forall i\in \{1,2,\cdots, n\}.$$ We prove that the differential structures on DG free algebras are in one to one correspondence with the set of crisscross ordered $n$-tuples of $n\times n$ matrixes. We also give a criterion to judge whether two DG free algebras are isomorphic. As an application, we consider the case of $n=2$. Based on the isomorphism classification, we compute the cohomology graded algebras of non-trivial DG free algebras with $2$ generators, and show that all those non-trivial DG free algebras are Koszul and Calabi-Yau., Comment: 29pages

The PRCC patients were randomly divided into two cohort, training cohort and verification cohort, respectively. Univariate Cox regression, LASSO Cox regression, multivariate Cox regression analysis were utilized to construct ferroptosis signature for PRCC patients. And then, risk prognostic model was established and verified. The correlation of ferroptosis-related signature with survival and immune microenvironment was systematically analyzed.Results: A 4-genes ferroptosis signature (CDKN1A, MIOX, PSAT1, and RRM2) was constructed. Multivariate Cox regression assay indicates that the risk score of ferroptosis signature was an independent prognostic indicator (HR=1.391, p< 0.001). The survival curve shows that the high-risk group has a poorer prognosis than the low-risk group (p< 0.001). The risk prognostic model was established based on prognostic factors of clinical-stage, hemoglobin, and risk score. The time-dependent receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC) analysis proves the predictive capacity of the ferroptosis signature, the 3 years area under the curve (AUC) is 0.890, and the 5 years AUC is 0.733. Further analysis suggested that cell cycle, pentose phosphate pathway, P53 signaling pathway were significantly enriched in the high-risk group. The significantly different fractions of dendritic cells resting, macrophage cells, and T cells follicular helper were observed in risk groups.Conclusion: This study implicates a ferroptosis signature which has a good predict capacity of the prognosis in PRCC patients. Serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) is a useful marker in the detection of LNET. Therefore, we explored the clinical significance of serum NSE levels in the detection of transformed neuroendocrine tumors after EGFR-TKI therapy.Methods: We report a cohort of 5 cases in our treatment group. The characteristics of the patients, pathological diagnoses, immunohistochemistry with molecular detection, laboratory examination, and treatment histories are analyzed. The tumor markers of serum NSE were analyzed. Additionally, we reviewed the publications reporting the tumor markers before and after LNET transformation during EGFR-TKI therapy.Results: Most patients are female (3/5), aged < 60 years old (4/5), nonsmokers (4/5) and harbor the EGFR 19 exon deletion (4/5). The median time of LNET transformation was 19 months (range: 12– 31 months). The clinical characteristics were similar to those reported in previous studies. Laboratory examination revealed an increased NSE level before the LNET is defined. Sixteen publications were reviewed. Of those, 86.67% (13/15) publications showed an increased level of NSE when the LNET transformation was defined.Conclusion: Adenocarcinoma tumors in non-smokers, young patients harboring the EGFR 19 exon deletion tended to transform to LNETs after EGFR-TKI therapy. Abstract

In this paper, we introduce and study differential graded (DG for short) polynomial algebras. In brief, a DG polynomial algebra $\mathcal{A}$ is a connected cochain DG algebra such that its underlying graded algebra $\mathcal{A}^{\#}$ is a polynomial algebra $\mathbb{k}[x_1,x_2,\cdots, x_n]$ with $|x_i|=1$, for any $i\in \{1,2,\cdots, n\}$. We describe all possible differential structures on DG polynomial algebras; compute their DG automorphism groups; study their isomorphism problems; and show that they are all homologically smooth and Gorestein DG algebras. Abstract

Apoptosis is the most prominent mode of programmed cell death and is necessary for the maintenance of tissue homeostasis. During cell apoptosis, a distinctive population of extracellular vesicles is generated, termed apoptotic vesicles (apoVs). ApoVs inherit a variety of biological molecules such as proteins, RNAs, nuclear components, lipids, and gasotransmitters from their parent cells. ApoVs have shown promising therapeutic potential for inflammation, tumors, immune disorders, and tissue regeneration. In addition, apoVs can be used as drug carriers, vaccine development, and disease diagnosis. Recently, apoVs have been used in clinical trials to treat a variety of diseases, such as temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis and the regeneration of functional alveolar bone. Abstract

Objective: To investigate whether immediate frozen–thawed embryo transfer (FET) in the next month following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID‐19) recovery affects ongoing pregnancy outcome. Methods: This was a retrospective cohort study carried out at a university‐affiliated reproductive medicine center. The study group (post‐COVID‐19 group) comprised women who were affected by COVID‐19 in December 2022 and immediately underwent FET in January 2023 after recovery, with transferred embryos not exposed to the infection. The control group comprised women treated during the pre‐COVID‐19 period (January 2019). Multivariable logistic regression analysis and a propensity score matching (PSM) approach were used to control for potential confounders and selection bias. Results: A total of 200 women were included in the post‐COVID‐19 group and 641 women were enrolled in the control group. The rate of ongoing pregnancy was comparable between the study cohorts in both the unadjusted and confounder‐adjusted logistic regression models. Other reproductive outcomes, including the odds of a positive pregnancy test, implantation, clinical pregnancy and early pregnancy loss, were similar between the comparison groups. PSM models further confirmed the lack of significant differences in pregnancy outcome between the post‐COVID‐19 group and the control group. Conclusions: Among patients affected by COVID‐19 for whom the transferred embryos were generated prior to infection, an immediate FET cycle in the next month after recovery does not seem to compromise ongoing pregnancy outcome. Thus, women who have frozen embryos from preinfection cycles should be counseled and encouraged to undergo FET as soon as possible after COVID‐19 recovery. © 2024 International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Abstract

We investigate the distribution of atoms and diatomic metal-oxide molecules in femtosecond laser-induced plasmas generated at and after the laser beam focal plane, where non-linear phenomena give rise to the formation of a weakly ionized air plasma channel. We use direct plasma imaging and optical emission spectroscopy to study plasma expansion, and the associated physical and chemical separation processes. Plasma splitting occurs upon the interaction of the weakly ionized plasma with the sample and is accompanied by a change in the spatio-temporal distribution of the molecules and atoms compared to sampling at the focus. Furthermore, molecular emission is favored at specific locations and is enhanced over atomic emission as the sample is moved underneath the laser focus. These findings support the ability to enhance or impede the formation of molecular versus atomic species at specific spatio-temporal locations in the laser-induced plasma.

Chemical imaging applications using Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) involve laser ablation sampling at interfaces or boundaries between materials with different thermophysical and optical properties, leading to the formation of two initially isolated plasmas. The mechanisms of mixing in these plasmas and their direct implications on spectral emission and chemical imaging remain largely unknown. We investigate the mixing dynamics of isolated plasmas produced using femtosecond (fs) laser pulses at the interface between two different model Cu and Sn–Pb samples. Specifically, we study the spatial and temporal mixing dynamics and outer plasma expansion dynamics of the fs plasma components. Data on clinical indicators including age, body mass index (BMI), menopause, serum inflammatory immune index, serum tumor markers, history of diabetes and hypertension, stage, histological type, and myometrial invasion (MI) were collected. The association between clinical indicators and LNM was evaluated.Results: The results indicated that neutrophil (NE), monocyte (MO) counts, SII, cancer antigen 125 (CA125), cancer antigen 153 (CA153), cancer antigen 199 (CA199), and the expression of estrogen receptor (ER) and Ki67 were higher in EC patients with LNM than in those without LNM (P< 0.05). Lymph vascular space invasion (LVSI) was also associated with LNM (P< 0.05). Consequently, the SII, CA125, CA153 and LVSI were found to be independent risk factors for LNM, and a nomogram including these indicators was performed. The ROC curve analysis showed that compared with a single index, the combination of the SII, CA125, CA153 and LVSI significantly improved the efficiency of diagnosing LNM in EC patients (AUC=0.865, P < 0.001). Moreover, the SII was significantly associated with age, menopause, and FIGO stage (P < 0.05). Further logistic regression analysis suggested that elevated serum SII was an independent risk factor for MI and progression to a higher pathological grade in young premenopausal EC patients. In addition, elevated SII was an independent risk factor for advanced EC progression in age ≥ 55 or postmenopausal EC patients.Conclusion: An elevated SII is an independent risk factor for LNM in patients with EC. Single pulmonary function parameters have been suggested as good indices for predicting postoperative pulmonary complications (PPC). The purpose of this retrospective study was to construct a prediction model, including more than one pulmonary function parameter, for better prediction of PPC in patients with lung cancer and impaired pulmonary function.Patients and Methods: Our database of patients who underwent lung resection for non-small cell lung cancer was reviewed and those with impaired pulmonary function were enrolled. Clinical data, including PPC, were recorded. Univariate and logistic regression analyses were applied to explore potential predictors and a prediction model constructed based on the results of logistic regression.Results: Patients with impaired pulmonary function (n = 124) were enrolled. Most patients were male, current smokers, > 60 years old, and had adenocarcinoma and mild ventilatory dysfunction or diffusion dysfunction. In univariate analysis, we identified six pulmonary function parameters that differed significantly between the PPC and non-PPC groups. Receiver operating characteristic curves were used to determine the best cutoff values. In logistic regression, only forced expiratory volume in 1 second/forced vital capacity (FEV1/FVC%), peak expiratory flow (PEF%), and post predictive operation (ppo)-FEV1% remained significant. Based on these results, we constructed a prediction model for PPC including FEV1/FVC%, PEF%, and ppo-FEV1%, which had an good diagnostic performance of, with 76.7% sensitivity and 67.6% specificity.Conclusion: Our prediction model, including the pulmonary function parameters, FEV1/FVC%, PEF%, and ppo-FEV1%, shows excellent performance for predicting PPC in patients with lung cancer and impaired pulmonary function following resection, and has potential for wide application in clinical practice.Keywords: non-small-cell lung, retrospective studies, forced expiratory volume, logistic models, respiratory function tests

The goal of this study was to identify risk factors for early recurrence in patients with pIIIA-N2 NSCLC who had undergone radial resection.Methods: A retrospective analysis was conducted on 238 patients with pIIIA-N2 NSCLC who underwent surgical treatment at the First Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University between December 2006 and August 2018. The early recurrence (ER) group included patients who recurred within one year of curative resection, while the non-early recurrence (NER) group included patients who did not recurrence or recurrence beyond one year. The univariate and multivariate Cox proportional risk analyses were used to identify prognostic factors associated with early recurrence, while the chi-square test was used for categorical data. Overall survival and recurrence-free survival were assessed by Kaplan–Meier estimates.Results: A total of 69 patients experienced an early recurrence, while the remaining 169 patients did not relapse within one year. ER patients had a much worse prognosis than NER patients, with median survival times of 20.6 and 83.1 months, respectively. Multivariate analysis showed that smoking status, tumor size, metastatic lymph node ratio (LNR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) were independent risk factor of early recurrence. Patients with early recurrence were more likely to develop bone metastases.Conclusion: Smoking history, large tumour size, and elevated LNR and PLR values in pIIIA-N2 NSCLC patients after complete resection may have a significant risk of early recurrence. After 12 weeks, all the mice were euthanized, and the specimens were collected. In vitro, experiments were conducted to observe the effect of GARP on DC phenotype and the changes of the proportion of CD4+CD25+Foxp3+ Treg cells when GARP-tDCs were co-cultured with CD4+ T cells. Furthermore, adoptive transmission of GARP-tDCs was used to observe the effect on atherosclerotic plaque in mice.Results: The GARP-overexpressed group enhanced the biological activity of Foxp3+ CD4+CD25+ Tregs and resulted in increased expression of LAP in T cells. In addition, the GARP-overexpressed group significantly suppressed the function of Th1 and Th17, and decreased the secretion of INF-γ and IL-17A. Thus, GARP had a protective effect on atherosclerosis. In vitro, we found that GARP-tDC had a tolerance-inducing phenotype, and GARP-tDC also had the ability to induce tolerance when co-cultured with CD4+ T cells. More importantly, adoptive transmission of GARP-tDCs reduced the size of atherosclerotic plaques.Conclusion: GARP and the GARP-tDC play protective roles in atherosclerosis. Abstract

Experimental investigations into the characteristics of laser-induced plasmas indicate that LIBS provides a relatively inexpensive and easily replicable laboratory technique to isolate and measure reactions germane to understanding aspects of high-explosive detonations under controlled conditions. Spectral signatures and derived physical parameters following laser ablation of aluminum, graphite and laser-sparked air are examined as they relate to those observed following detonation of high explosives and as they relate to shocked air. Laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) reliably correlates reactions involving atomic Al and aluminum monoxide (AlO) with respect to both emission spectra and temperatures, as compared to small- and large-scale high-explosive detonations. Atomic Al and AlO resulting from laser ablation and a cited small-scale study, decay within ∼10-5 s, roughly 100 times faster than the Al and AlO decay rates (∼10-3 s) observed following the large-scale detonation of an Al-encased explosive. Temperatures and species produced in laser-sparked air are compared to those produced with laser ablated graphite in air. With graphite present, CN is dominant relative to N2+. In studies where the height of the ablating laser's focus was altered relative to the surface of the graphite substrate, CN concentration was found to decrease with laser focus below the graphite surface, indicating that laser intensity is a critical factor in the production of CN, via reactive nitrogen.

Abstract

Through computer simulation on experimentally acquired optical spectra, uranium isotopic analysis by laser ablation molecular isotopic spectrometry and laser induced breakdown spectroscopy were studied. The use of only one spectral feature, either the strong UO band at 593.55 nm or the nearby U I 593.382 nm line, are similar in precisions (~ 1.5% in absolute 235U abundances). Precision improves to 0.72% with the use of a group of U atomic lines from 591.6 to 596.5 nm. The use of both molecular bands and atomic lines further advances the precision to 0.42% and compares well with the U II 424.437 nm single-line benchmark (0.48% precision).

Abstract

The core-collapse supernova (CCSN) is considered one of the most energetic astrophysical events in the universe. The early and prompt detection of neutrinos before (pre-SN) and during the supernova (SN) burst presents a unique opportunity for multi-messenger observations of CCSN events. In this study, we describe the monitoring concept and present the sensitivity of the system to pre-SN and SN neutrinos at the Jiangmen Underground Neutrino Observatory (JUNO), a 20 kton liquid scintillator detector currently under construction in South China. The real-time monitoring system is designed to ensure both prompt alert speed and comprehensive coverage of progenitor stars. It incorporates prompt monitors on the electronic board as well as online monitors at the data acquisition stage. Assuming a false alert rate of 1 per year, this monitoring system exhibits sensitivity to pre-SN neutrinos up to a distance of approximately 1.6 (0.9) kiloparsecs and SN neutrinos up to about 370 (360) kiloparsecs for a progenitor mass of 30 solar masses, considering both normal and inverted mass ordering scenarios. The pointing ability of the CCSN is evaluated by analyzing the accumulated event anisotropy of inverse beta decay interactions from pre-SN or SN neutrinos. This, along with the early alert, can play a crucial role in facilitating follow-up multi-messenger observations of the next galactic or nearby extragalactic CCSN.

Abstract

We report a study of the magnetic and electronic properties of the non-centrosymmetric half-Heusler antiferromagnet HoPdBi ($T_N = 2.0$ K). Magnetotransport measurements show HoPdBi has a semimetallic behaviour with a carrier concentration $n=3.7 \times 10^{18}$ cm$^{-3}$ extracted from the Shubnikov-de Haas effect. The magnetic phase diagram in the field-temperature plane has been determined by transport, magnetization and thermal expansion measurements: magnetic order is suppressed at $B_M\sim 3.6$ T for $T \rightarrow 0$. Superconductivity with $T_c \sim 1.9$ K is found in the antiferromagnetic phase. Ac-susceptibility measurements provide solid evidence for bulk superconductivity below $T_c = 0.75$ K with a screening signal close to a volume fraction of 100 %. The upper critical field shows an unusual linear temperature variation with $B_{c2}(T \rightarrow 0) = 1.1$ T. We also report electronic structure calculations that classify HoPdBi as a new topological semimetal, with a non-trivial band inversion of 0.25 eV., Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures

50. Efficacy and safety of topical NSAIDs combined with physiotherapy for frozen shoulder: a randomized controlled trial.

Abstract

OBJECTIVE: Frozen shoulder is a prevalent condition among individuals in their middle and later years. Invasive therapy has shown promising results in the treatment of frozen shoulders, but its widespread adoption has been hampered by high costs and the need for advanced medical technology. As a result, patients with frozen shoulders often turn to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for symptomatic relief. However, the oral administration of NSAIDs can lead to troublesome adverse effects on the gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, and urinary systems. In contrast, topical NSAIDs have gained attention for their excellent efficacy and lower adverse effects in various chronic pain conditions. Therefore, our study aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of topical NSAIDs in improving pain and mobility among patients with frozen shoulders. PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 108 patients experiencing moderate to severe pain and mobility impairment due to frozen shoulder were enrolled in this study. The participants were randomly assigned to either the experimental group (n=72) or the control group (n=36). The experimental group received daily treatment with the loxoprofen hydrogel patch (LOX-P) in addition to basic rehabilitation physiotherapy. The control group was treated with flurbiprofen cataplasm (FLU-C) twice a day, along with rehabilitation physiotherapy. The primary endpoint for evaluating the efficacy of the two patches was the Constant-Murley score (CMS). Clinical symptom data, adverse events, and patient satisfaction were also recorded. RESULTS: After 14 days of treatment, the effective rate was 66.67% (n=48) in the experimental group and 41.67% (n=15) in the control group. The overall difference in the effective rates was 25.00% (95% CI=5.20-42.52; p=0.013). The safety profiles of the two topical agents were similar, with only a few adverse events reported. CONCLUSIONS: The loxoprofen hydrogel patch demonstrates a significant ability to alleviate shoulder pain and restore shoulder function in the treatment of frozen shoulder, with minimal adverse reactions [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
