We propose a quantum Monte Carlo (QMC) scheme able to extract large-scale data of entanglement entropy (EE) and its derivative with high precision and low technical barrier. We avoid directly computing the overlap of two partition functions within different spacetime manifolds and instead obtain them separately via reweight-annealing scheme. The incremental process can be designed along the path of real physical parameters in this frame, and all intermediates are EEs of corresponding parameters, so the algorithm efficiency is improved by more than $10^4$ of times. The calculation of EE becomes much cheaper and simpler. It opens a way to numerically detect the novel phases and phase transitions by scanning EE in a wide parameter-region in two and higher dimensional systems. We then show the feasibility of using EE and its derivative to find phase transition points and to probe novel phases.

Low-lying entanglement spectrum provides the quintessential fingerprint to identify the highly entangled quantum matter with topological and conformal field-theoretical properties. However, when the entangling region acquires long boundary with the environment, such as that between long coupled chains or in two or higher dimensions, there unfortunately exists no universal yet practical method to compute the entanglement spectra with affordable computational cost. Here we propose a new scheme to overcome such difficulty and successfully extract the low-lying fine entanglement spectrum (ES). We trace out the environment via quantum Monte Carlo simulation and diagonalize the reduced density matrix to gain the ES. We demonstrate the strength and reliability of our method through long coupled spin chains and answer its long-standing controversy. Our simulation results, with unprecedentedly large system sizes, establish the practical computation scheme of the entanglement spectrum with a huge freedom degree of environment.

We construct a family of one-dimensional (1D) quantum lattice models based on $G$-graded unitary fusion category $\mathcal{C}_G$. This family realize an interpolation between the anyon-chain models and edge models of 2D symmetry-protected topological states, and can be thought of as edge models of 2D symmetry-enriched topological states. The models display a set of unconventional global symmetries that are characterized by the input category $\mathcal{C}_G$. While spontaneous symmetry breaking is also possible, our numerical evidence shows that the category symmetry constrains the the models to the extent that the low-energy physics has a large likelihood to be gapless., Comment: 46 pages, 8 figures. By developing a cluster sampling of stochastic series expansion quantum Monte Carlo method, we investigate a spin-$1/2$ model on a bilayer square lattice with intra-layer ferromagnetic (FM) Ising coupling and inter-layer antiferromagnetic Heisenberg interaction. The continuous quantum phase transition which occurs at $g_c=3.045(2)$ between the FM Ising phase and the dimerized phase is studied via large scale simulations. From the analyzes of critical exponents we show that this phase transition belongs to the (2+1)-dimensional Ising universality class. Besides, the quantum entanglement is strong between the two layers, especially in dimerized phase. The effective Hamiltonian of single layer seems like a transverse field Ising model. However, we found the quantum entanglement Hamiltonian is a pure classical Ising model without any quantum fluctuations. Furthermore, we give a more general explanation about how a classical entanglement Hamiltonian emerges.

We derive a series of quantitative bulk-boundary correspondences for 3D bosonic and fermionic symmetry-protected topological (SPT) phases under the assumption that the surface is gapped, symmetric and topologically ordered, i.e., a symmetry-enriched topological (SET) state. We consider those SPT phases that are protected by the mirror symmetry and continuous symmetries that form a group of $U(1)$, $SU(2)$ or $SO(3)$. In particular, the fermionic cases correspond to a crystalline version of 3D topological insulators and topological superconductors in the famous ten-fold-way classification, with the time-reversal symmetry replaced by the mirror symmetry and with strong interaction taken into account. For surface SETs, the most general interplay between symmetries and anyon excitations is considered. Based on the previously proposed dimension reduction and folding approaches, we re-derive the classification of bulk SPT phases and define a \emph{complete} set of bulk topological invariants for every symmetry group under consideration, and then derive explicit expressions of the bulk invariants in terms of surface topological properties (such as topological spin, quantum dimension) and symmetry properties (such as mirror fractionalization, fractional charge or spin). These expressions are our quantitative bulk-boundary correspondences. Meanwhile, the bulk topological invariants can be interpreted as \emph{anomaly indicators} for the surface SETs which carry 't Hooft anomalies of the associated symmetries whenever the bulk is topologically non-trivial. Hence, the quantitative bulk-boundary correspondences provide an easy way to compute the 't Hooft anomalies of the surface SETs. Moreover, our anomaly indicators are complete. In the last two decades, network science has blossomed and influenced various fields, such as statistical physics, computer science, biology and sociology, from the perspective of the heterogeneous interaction patterns of components composing the complex systems. As a paradigm for random and semi-random connectivity, percolation model plays a key role in the development of network science and its applications. On the one hand, the concepts and analytical methods, such as the emergence of the giant cluster, the finite-size scaling, and the mean-field method, which are intimately related to the percolation theory, are employed to quantify and solve some core problems of networks. On the other hand, the insights into the percolation theory also facilitate the understanding of networked systems, such as robustness, epidemic spreading, vital node identification, and community detection. Meanwhile, network science also brings some new issues to the percolation theory itself, such as percolation of strong heterogeneous systems, topological transition of networks beyond pairwise interactions, and emergence of a giant cluster with mutual connections. So far, the percolation theory has already percolated into the researches of structure analysis and dynamic modeling in network science. Understanding the percolation theory should help the study of many fields in network science, including the still opening questions in the frontiers of networks, such as networks beyond pairwise interactions, temporal networks, and network of networks. The structure of interconnected systems and its impact on the system dynamics is a much-studied cross-disciplinary topic. Although various critical phenomena have been found in different models, the study on the connections between different percolation transitions is still lacking. Here we propose a unified framework to study the origins of the discontinuous transitions of the percolation process on interacting networks. The model evolves in generations with the result of the present percolation depending on the previous state and thus is history-dependent. Both theoretical analysis and Monte Carlo simulations reveal that the nature of the transition remains the same at finite generations but exhibits an abrupt change for the infinite generation. We use brain functional correlation and morphological similarity data to show that our model also provides a general method to explore the network structure and can contribute to many practical applications, such as detecting the abnormal structures of human brain networks., Comment: 22 pages, 13 figures

We study general 2D fermionic topological orders enriched by the mirror symmetry with $\mathcal{M}^2=1$. It is known that certain mirror symmetry enriched fermionic topological orders (mirror SETs) are anomalous, in the sense that they cannot be realized in strict two dimensions but have to live on the surface of 3D topological crystalline superconductors. Mirror anomaly, or equivalently 3D topological crystalline superconductor, has a $\mathbb{Z}_{16}$ classification. In this work, we derive an explicit expression, namely an \emph{anomaly indicator}, for the $\mathbb{Z}_{16}$ mirror anomaly for general fermionic mirror SETs. This derivation is based on the recently developed folding approach, originally proposed for bosonic topological orders. We generalize it to fermion systems. Through this approach, we establish a direct bulk-boundary correspondence between surface fermionic topological orders and 3D bulk topological crystalline superconductors. We explore an extended quantum Rabi model describing the interaction between a two-mode bosonic field and a three-level atom. Quantum phase transitions of this few degree of freedom model is found when the ratio $\eta$ of the atom energy scale to the bosonic field frequency approaches infinity. An analytical solution is provided when the two lowest-energy levels are degenerate. According to it, we recognize that the phase diagram of the model consists of three regions: one normal phase and two superradiant phases. The quantum phase transitions between the normal phase and the two superradiant phases are of second order relating to the spontaneous breaking of the discrete $Z_{2}$ symmetry. On the other hand, the quantum phase transition between the two different superradiant phases is discontinuous with a phase boundary line relating to the continuous $U(1)$ symmetry. For a large enough but finite $\eta$, the scaling function and critical exponents are derived analytically and verified numerically, from which the universality class of the model is identified.

An analytical variational method for the ground state of the biased quantum Rabi model in the ultra-strong coupling regime is presented. This analytical variational method can be obtained by a unitary transformation or alternatively by assuming the form of ground state wave function. The key point of the method is to introduce a variational parameter $\lambda$, which can be determined by minimizing the energy functional. Using this method, we calculate physical observables with high accuracy in comparison with the numerical exact one. Our method evidently improves the results from the widely used general rotating-wave approximation (GRWA) in both qualitative and quantitative ways.

We present an analytical method for the two-qubit quantum Rabi model. While still operating in the frame of the generalized rotating-wave approximation (GRWA), our method further embraces the idea of introducing variational parameters. The optimal value of the variational parameter is determined by minimizing the energy function of the ground state. Comparing with numerical exact results, we show that our method evidently improves the accuracy of the conventional GRWA in calculating fundamental physical quantities, such as energy spectra, mean photon number, and dynamics. Interestingly, the accuracy of our method allows us to reproduce the asymptotic behavior of mean photon number in large frequency ratio for the ground state and investigate the quasi-periodical structure of the time evolution, which are incapable of being predicted by the GRWA. The applicable parameter ranges cover the ultrastrong coupling regime, which will be helpful to recent experiments.

Cycling is a green transportation mode, and is promoted by many governments to mitigate traffic congestion. However, studies concerning the traffic dynamics of bicycle flow are very limited. This study experimentally investigated bicycle flow dynamics on a wide road, modeled using a 3-m-wide track. The results showed that the bicycle flow rate remained nearly constant across a wide range of densities, in marked contrast to single-file bicycle flow, which exhibits a unimodal fundamental diagram. By studying the weight density of the radial locations of cyclists, we argue that this behavior arises from the formation of more lanes with the increase of global density. The extra lanes prevent the longitudinal density from increasing as quickly as in single-file bicycle flow. When the density is larger than 0.5 bicycles/m2, the flow rate begins to decrease, and stop-and-go traffic emerges. A cognitive-science-based model to reproduce bicycle dynamics is proposed, in which cyclists apply simple cognitive procedures to adapt their target directions and desired riding speeds. To incorporate differences in acceleration, deceleration, and turning, different relaxation times are used. The model can reproduce the experimental results acceptably well and may also provide guidance on infrastructure design.

A protocol of quantum dense coding protection of two qubits is proposed in amplitude damping (AD) channel using weak measurement and reversal measurement. It is found that the capacity of quantum dense coding under the weak measurement and reversal measurement is always greater than that without weak measurement and reversal measurement. When the protocol is applied, for the AD channels with different damping coefficient, the result reflects that quantum entanglement can be protected and quantum dense coding becomes successful., Comment: 10 pages, 4 figures

We investigate the adiabatic magnetization process of the one-dimensional $J-Q_{2}$ model with XXZ anisotropy $g$ in an external magnetic field $h$ by using density matrix renormalization group (DMRG) method. According to the characteristic of the magnetization curves, we draw a magnetization phase diagram consisting of four phases. For a fixed nonzero pair coupling $Q$, i) when $g<-1$, the ground state is always ferromagnetic in spite of $h$; ii) when $g>-1$ but still small, the whole magnetization curve is continuous and smooth; iii) if further increasing $g$, there is a macroscopic magnetization jump from partially- to fully-polarized state; iv) for a sufficiently large $g$, the magnetization jump is from non- to fully-polarized state. By examining the energy per magnon and the correlation function, we find that the origin of the magnetization jump is the condensation of magnons and the formation of magnetic domains. We also demonstrate that while the experienced states are Heisenberg-like without long-range order, all the \textit{jumped-over} states have antiferromagnetic or N\'eel long-range orders, or their mixing., Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures
