La finalitat d'aquest treball és comprendre el procés de creació d'un videojoc real en la seva plenitud, tant a nivell creatiu i de disseny com a nivell de desenvolupament. Per fer-ho, s'ha dissenyat un joc de tipus joc de rol tàctic per a ordinador, en el qual el jugador s'enfronta a "la màquina" en un combat per equips, on pot decidir quins membres formaran la seva banda, i a cada ronda podrà indicar on es mourà cada membre i que farà una vegada s'hagi mogut. The purpose of this work is to understand the process of creating a real video game in its fullness, both at the creative and design level and at the development level. To do this, I have been designing a computer tactical RPG game, in which the player faces "the machine" in a team battle, where he can decide which members will form his band, and in each round, he will be able to indicate where each member will move and what it will do once it has moved. La finalidad de este trabajo es comprender el proceso de creación de un videojuego real en su plenitud, tanto a nivel creativo y de diseño como a nivel de desarrollo. Para ello, se ha diseñado un juego de tipo juego de rol táctico para ordenador, en el que el jugador se enfrenta a "la máquina" en un combate por equipos, donde puede decidir qué miembros formarán su parte, y en cada ronda podrá indicar dónde se moverá cada miembro y que hará una vez se haya movido.

To make this game first has been made an analysis of requirements and the environment, to be able to later design the whole structure of the game always taking into account its target audience, and therefore making the necessary decisions so that it can be use by most students.

Oocyte maturation in vertebrates involves morphological, biochemical, and functional changes through which meiosis, previously arrested in Profase I, is resumed. Within these changes, germinal vesicle breakdown (GVBD) constitutes morphological evidence of the resumption of the cellular cycle. Sex steroids (progestins and androgens) play a key role in oocyte maturation and are considered inducers of this process. The aims of this study were to analyze the effect of sex steroids on the oocyte maturation of amphibians and to model and simulate the dynamics of this process through the experimental data obtained. The oocytes of sexually mature females of Scinax fuscovarius, Pleurodema borellii, and Physalaemus biligonigerus were treated with different concentrations (0.001?1 µM) of sex steroids progesterone (P4) and testosterone (T) for 24 hr. Dose? and time?response curves were performed with the results achieved. Sex steroids induced oocyte maturation in a dose‐dependent manner in all three species. The dose at which the highest maturation percentage was found was 1 μM. No significant differences were observed between GVBD percentages of P4 and T. However, time?response curves show that oocytes responded earlier and achieved higher GVBD percentages when treated with P4. Gompertz mathematical model was proposed in this study to simulate GVBD dynamics. This model properly fits the corresponding experimental data and allows the analysis of the behavior of oocyte maturation in amphibians and the quantification of parameters with biological meaning that are indicative of sex steroids efficiency in this process. Nuestra Sociedad solo ha sido consciente del grave problema ambiental asociado a la contaminación de suelos muy recientemente. De hecho, esta contaminación es conocida comúnmente como “contaminación silenciosa” ya que no nos damos cuenta de ella en el momento en el que se produce sino mucho después, cuando los efectos negativos sobre la salud humana y el medioambiente son más que evidentes. Debido a su peligrosidad, y también debido a la gran cantidad de episodios de contaminación del suelo que han aparecido durante los últimos años, se están desarrollando una gran variedad de tecnologías para la remediación. Entre estas tecnologías, unas de las más prometedoras son las basadas en las técnicas electrocinéticas, concretamente, las basadas en la combinación de varios procesos asistidos por la electroquímica (electro-ósmosis, electroforesis, electrolisis, electromigración y calentamiento eléctrico). Entre ellas están las tecnologías electrocinéticas de lavado por barrido (EKSF, por su acrónimo en inglés) y las barreras de contención de la contaminación (EKF, en su acrónimo en inglés), que parecen ser las más prometedoras para la eliminación de contaminantes orgánicos. Este tipo de tecnologías de remediación electrocinética (a las que en este documento vamos a denominar genéricamente por su acrónimo en inglés, EKR) muestran un gran número de aspectos potencialmente ventajosos en comparación con otras tecnologías, ya que se pueden aplicar in situ, evitando los costes asociados a las fases de excavación y de transporte y, lo que es más importante, evitando modificar las características hidrogeomecánicas del suelo. Además, se puede aplicar este tipo de tratamientos a suelos de baja permeabilidad contaminados con una amplia tipología de contaminantes, incluyendo metales pesados, y muchos tipos de especies orgánicas polares y no polares. El gran número de estudios llevados a cabo a escala de laboratorio en los últimos años, apoya su innovación y las buenas perspectivas de esta tecnología. Teniendo en cuenta estas prometedoras características, en esta Tesis Doctoral se ha desarrollado una evaluación completa de la forma en que la colocación de los electrodos puede influir en la remediación de suelos contaminados con pesticidas. Dos pesticidas, 2,4-D y oxifluorfen fueron seleccionados como modelos de herbicidas polar y no polar, llevándose a cabo pruebas a diferentes escalas de tratamiento incluyendo maquetas de escala bancada, mockups, piloto y prototipo con el fin de evaluar cómo estas configuraciones pueden afectar a la eliminación de la contaminación orgánica. Las tecnologías estudiadas en mockups pilotos de 175 dm3 durante períodos superiores a un mes incluyeron la EKSF, tanto usando filas de electrodos enfrentadas como configuraciones circulares de electrodos (6 ánodos que rodean un cátodo central (1C6A) y 6 cátodos que rodean un ánodo central (1A6C)) y la configuración electrocinética de barreras de contención de la contaminación donde se alternaron ánodos y cátodos en configuración circular (EKF). Los resultados demostraron que la configuración de los electrodos así como el carácter polar / no polar del contaminante influyen tanto en el rendimiento como en la eficiencia del tratamiento. Los parámetros más relevantes fueron monitorizados durante los experimentos y, una vez finalizados los mismos, se llevó a cabo un análisis post-mortem del suelo, que dio lugar a un mapa 3-D de la distribución de los principales parámetros. Según estos estudios, la distribución EKF parece ser la mejor opción para el tratamiento de suelos arcillosos contaminados con oxifluorfen, mientras que las configuraciones de lavado por barrido con filas de electrodos enfrentados y la 1C6A son más eficaces para el tratamiento de suelos contaminados con 2,4-D. En todos los casos, el pesticida se moviliza hacia los pozos catódicos al ser arrastrado por el flujo de electro-ósmosis, y se transporta a los pozos anódicos por electromigración, siendo este último proceso mucho más importante en la electrorremediación de suelos contaminados con 2,4-D. Además de esto, al menos un 25% del pesticida es transferido a la atmósfera durante el proceso de electrorremediación, jugando un papel muy importante en los suelos contaminados con 2,4-D donde la volatilización es aún mayor. En cuanto al pH, se observan cambios importantes en el pH del suelo después de los experimentos de electrorremediación, siendo especialmente relevantes en el caso de la utilización de disposiciones de electrodos 1C6A. Otro punto importante es el escalado de esta tecnología, que también se estudió en esta Tesis, comparando resultados obtenidos en ensayos con maquetas a escala de laboratorio con el obtenido en instalaciones a nivel de planta piloto y prototipo. Como primera parte de esta comparación, y teniendo en cuenta la falta de experiencia en el escalado de esta tecnología que, como se refleja en la bibliografía es casi nula, se realizó un estudio para determinar las condiciones en las que la planta prototipo debía ser operada. Este estudio se llevó a cabo en una planta prototipo de 16 m3. Las principales conclusiones de este estudio de escalado indican que para reproducir el comportamiento de suelos reales sometidos a la remediación electrocinética, el suelo debe ser acondicionado antes de ser colocado en el reactor de remediación electrocinética para proporcionarle unos valores similares de contenido de humedad y grado de compactación a los encontrados en condiciones naturales. La energía de compactación necesaria para alcanzar el nivel deseado de compactación depende directamente del contenido de humedad y del tipo de suelo que está siendo estudiado e, indirectamente, depende de la rigidez del reactor EKR donde el suelo se va a colocar. Incluso cuando en los reactores de remediación electrocinética se siguen los mismos procesos de preparación y colocación del suelo, en el cambio de escala influye considerablemente la cantidad de energía eléctrica consumida en el proceso (a pesar de utilizar el mismo campo eléctrico) y, en consecuencia, en la velocidad con la que los diferentes procesos electrocinéticos se desarrollan. Con el conocimiento obtenido en este primer trabajo de caracterización de escalado, se llevó a cabo la comparación de los resultados obtenidos en diferentes escalas en el tratamiento de suelos contaminados con los dos pesticidas modelo escogidos usando como tecnología de remediación electrocinética la EKF. Por lo tanto, los resultados obtenidos en la maqueta de 175 dm3 usando una configuración electródica de barreras de contención se compararon con los obtenidos con la misma tecnología en una planta piloto de 32 m3 y con algunas pruebas llevadas a cabo en una planta pequeña a escala de laboratorio (1 dm3) para dar luz sobre los mecanismos de control en cada escala. De acuerdo con sus resultados, el tamaño de la configuración experimental utilizada para estudiar los procesos de remediación del suelo es clave para entender su funcionamiento. A pesar de que los mismos procesos se están produciendo a un ritmo similar, las dimensiones de las instalaciones modifican por completo la distribución final de los parámetros y, por lo tanto, ninguna conclusión relevante debe ser extrapolada desde el menor de los tamaños. Esto se observa claramente en el caso del pH, intensidad y flujos electro-osmóticos, que no varían de la misma manera en las tres escalas estudiadas. En cuanto a la eliminación de pesticidas, objetivo principal de esta Tesis, se encontró que el principal mecanismo controlante en la planta piloto era el calentamiento eléctrico del suelo, que producía una mayor volatilización de los compuestos orgánicos contenidos en el suelo. La relevancia de estos procesos en la planta a escala de laboratorio es muy baja debido a que la intensidad de corriente es muy baja y no produce ningún cambio relevante en el perfil de temperatura. Por el contrario, los mecanismos controlantes de la planta a escala de laboratorio son el proceso de transporte electrocinético, en particular, el arrastre de los pesticidas hacia el cátodo y la electromigración hacia el ánodo. La relevancia de estos procesos en el prototipo es muy baja debido a que el flujo electro-osmótico es muy bajo. La maqueta de 175 dm3 muestra un comportamiento intermedio, en el que tanto los procesos de transporte electrocinéticos como la volatilización son desarrollados a una velocidad significativa. Por lo tanto, parece razonable cuestionar las predicciones de la efectividad del tratamiento obtenido mediante la extrapolación de los resultados de las pruebas de electrorremediación a pequeña escala y esta Tesis Doctoral indica que en la eliminación de pesticidas a gran escala, el calentamiento eléctrico y, a consecuencia, la volatilización serán los principales mecanismos controlantes y no los procesos de transporte electrocinético. Por último, pero no menos importante, el experimento en planta prototipo permite llegar a la conclusión de que hay un agotamiento de los iones en el suelo y una concentración en los pozos de electrodos. Este transporte debe ser controlado en aplicaciones a gran escala, en particular cuando se combina la tecnología electrocinética con otras tecnologías de tratamiento (como la biorremediación o la fitorremediación).

We analyze a divisible good uniform-price auction that features two groups each with a Önite number of identical bidders. At equilibrium the relative market power (price impact) of a group increases with the precision of its private information and declines with its transaction costs. An increase in transaction costs and/or a decrease in the precision of a bidding groupís information induces a strategic response from the other group, which thereafter attenuates its response to both private information and prices. A "stronger" bidding group -which has more precise private information, faces lower transaction costs, and is more oligopsonistic- has more price impact and so will behave competitively only if it receives a higher per capita subsidy rate. When the strong group values the asset no less than the weak group, the expected deadweight loss increases with the quantity auctioned and also with the degree of payo§ asymmetries. Price impact and the deadweight loss may be negatively associated. The results are consistent with the available empirical evidence. This work reports the results of a study in which the remediation of soil that undergoes an accidental discharge of oxyfluorfen is carried out by using electrokinetic soil flushing (EKSF). Two different electrode configurations were tested, consisting of several electrodes surrounding an electrode of different polarity (so-called 1A6C, one anode surrounded by six cathodes, and 1C6A, one cathode surrounded by six cathodes). A pilot plant scale was used (with a soil volume of 175 dm3) to perform the studies. During the tests, different parameters were measured daily (flowrates, pH, electrical conductivity and herbicide concentration in different sampling positions). Furthermore, at the end of the test, a complete post-mortem analysis was carried out to obtain a 3-D map of the pollution, pH and electrical conductivity in the soil. The results demonstrate that electrode arrangement is a key factor for effective pollutant removal. In fact, the 1A6C configuration improves the removal rate by 41.3% versus the 27.0% obtained by the 1C6A configuration after a period of 35 days. Finally, a bench mark comparison of this study of soil remediation polluted with 2,4-D allows for significant conclusions about the scale-up and full-scale application of this technology.

This work aimed to evaluate electrokinetic soil flushing (EKSF) technologies for the removal of 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) from spiked soils using an electrode configuration consisting of one cathode surrounded by six anodes (1c6a) and one anode surrounded by 6 cathodes (1a6c). Experiments were conducted for over one month in a bench-scale set-up (175 dm3 of capacity) that was completely automated and operated at a constant electric field (1.0 V cm− 1). The electrical current, temperature, pH, moisture and pollutant concentration in electrolyte wells were monitored daily, and at the end of the experiments, an in-depth sectioned analysis of the complete soil section (post-mortem analysis) was conducted. Despite the geometric similarity, the two strategies led to very different results mainly in terms of water and herbicide mobilization, whereas pH and conductivity do not depend strongly on the electrode configuration. The volume of water extracted from cathodes with 1a6c is seven times higher than that of the 1c6a strategy. Herbicide was transported to the anode wells by electromigration and then dragged toward the cathode wells by electro-osmotic fluxes, with the first process being much more important. The configuration 1c6a was the most efficient and attained a transfer of 70% of the herbicide contained in the soil to flushing water in 35 days. These results outperform those obtained by the configuration 1a6c, for which less than 8% of the herbicide was transferred to flushing fluids in a much longer time (58 days).

Soils polluted with 2,4-D (model of ionic herbicide) can be remediated using a fence of alternating anodes and cathodes surrounding the main contamination point. This works reports results obtained in case study consisting of a 175 dm3 pilot plant, in which a soil polluted with an average concentration of 20 mg kg−1 of 2,4-D (spread by simulating an accidental spill) undergoes electroremediation for two months with an electric field of 1.0 VDC cm−1 (between consecutive electrodes). Intensity, temperature, pH, moisture and pollutant concentration in electrolyte wells were daily monitored, and at the end of the experiments, an in-depth post-mortem analysis was carried out. In less than two months, the remediation technology attains a transport of more than 22% of the 2,4-D contained in the soil to the flushing fluids. However, the main mechanism for the removal of 2,4-D was found to be volatilization (which totalizes up to 57% of removal of 2,4-D). The significance of this mechanism was confirmed with the comparison of the results obtained in the remediation test with the results obtained in a reference test consisting of the monitoring of the dispersion of the 2,4-D pollutant in a soil which does no undergo electroremediation treatment. These results are of a great importance for future scaling-up of the technology.

The work aims at studying the feasibility of the electrokinetic enhanced bioremediation. This is an emerging group of technologies that tries to combine the advantages of the electrokinetic soil flushing technology (EKSF) and biological soil remediation processes. Results demonstrate that combination of both technologies is not easy due to their very different characteristics. Results of direct combination are not completely positive because EKSF produces great changes in the pH and temperature, which affects negatively to the microbial viability. To overcome these drawbacks, different alternatives have been tested in this work in order to improve the efficiency of the combined biological and electrokinetic treatment. This work summarizes the main results obtained in each of them. The best results were obtained using a combination of EKSF with permeable reactive biobarriers in which the microorganisms were supported on gravel (EKSF-PRB). The position of the biobarrier was away from the extreme pH sections, and in this zone the supply of inorganic nutrients was ensured. Experimental results corroborated that the pollutant degradation efficiency is much higher using the combined EKSF-PBR technology (26.8% removal in a 14-day long treatment with an electric energy consumption below 100 kWh m-3) than using the simple biological treatment or the EKSF (11.8% removal in the same 14-day long treatment period).

In this article we extend the rational partisan model of Alesina and Gatti (1995) to include a second policy, fiscal policy, besides monetary policy. It is shown that, with this extension, the politically induced variance of output is not always eliminated nor reduced by delegating monetary policy to an independent and conservative central bank. Further, in flation and output stabilisation will be affected by the degree of conservativeness of the central bank and by the probability of the less in flation averse party gaining power. The empirical evidence testing the validity of the rational partisan theory (RPT) has been mixed. In this article, we argue that the inclusion of other macroeconomic policies and the presence of an independent central bank can partly contribute to explain this inconclusiveness. This article expands Alesina s (1987) RPT model to include an extra policy and an independent central bank. With these extensions, the implications of RPT are altered signi ficantly. In particular, when the central bank is more concerned about output than public spending (an assumption made by many papers in this literature), then the direct relationship between in flation and output derived in Alesina (1987) never holds. We propose an extension of Alesina and Tabellini 's model (1987) to include corruption, which is understood as the presence of weak institutions collecting revenue through formal tax channels. This paper analyses how conservative should an independent central bank be when the institutional quality is poor. When there are no political distortions, we show that the central bank has to be more conservative than the government, except with complete corruption. In this particular case, the central bank should be as conservative as the government. Further, we obtain that the relationship between the optimal relative degree of conservativeness of the central bank and the degree of corruption is affected by supply shocks. Concretely, when these shocks are not important, the central bank should be less conservative if the degree of corruption increases. However, this result may not hold when the shocks are relevant. This paper analyzes the implications of pre-trade transpareny on market performance. We find that transparency increases the precision held by agents, however we show that this increase in precision may not be due to prices themselves. In competitive markets, transparency increases market liquidity and reduces price volatility, whereas these results may not hold under imperfect competition. More importantly, market depth and volatility might be positively related with proper priors. Moreover, we study the incentives for liquidity traders to engage in sunshine trading. We obtain that the choice of sunshine/dark trading for a noise trader is independent of his order size, being the traders with higher liquidity needs more interested in sunshine trading, as long as this practice is desirable.
