The polymorphisms (C270T) and Val66Met of the BDNF gene are related to diverse cognitive processes in neurological and psychiatric conditions. But little is known about its relations with cognitive processes in healthy people. The present study explored the relationship of the C270T and Val66Met polymorphisms with implicit memory (semantic and perceptual priming tasks), semantic explicit memory (lexical access), and episodic explicit memory (free recall). In total, 135 healthy volunteers between 20 and 60 years of age (M = 27.94, SD = 11.04), 92 women (M = 27.36, SD = 11.32), and 42 men (M = 29.21, SD = 10.42), participated in the study. One hundred and three of them completed the genetic study of C270T (36 males and 67 females), and 123 completed the Val66Met (38 males and 85 females). Results regarding ValMet polymorphism showed lower scores for MetMet in free recall. In relation to C270T, TT polymorphism performed better in the visual priming task than in CT. The potential value as biomarkers of memory of these polymorphisms is discussed.

The study of memory for trauma has generated considerable controversy. Its importance stems from its involvement in the understanding of memory processes, and for its importance in forensic contexts. The aim of this study was to analyze the factors that help explain the controversy surrounding memories for trauma. To do this the definition of trauma and the factors that can determine the memory were analyzed. Also, the accuracy of memories for trauma was analyzed. The explanation of memory for trauma is depending on the concept of trauma. If trauma is defined by its psychological effects, then studies support that memories for trauma are different from other autobiographical memories. If trauma is defined by the characteristics of its cause, then studies support that memory for trauma are different from other memories. Regardless of focus, factors that influence the recall should be considered. Stress level, intensity of emotion, and degree of involvement are the most important. This paper examines the applicability and limitations of one of the procedures most commonly used to analyze the credibility of a testimony, the Statement Validity Assessment (SVA). The starting point for a successful implementation is a thorough consideration of the possible sources that could lead to a statement, following the method of falsifiability of hypotheses. Major errors of use are described and the methods for different scenarios to be analyzed are clarified, considering both the relevance of each procedure and its limitations. In conclusion, the dangers of an incorrect or incomplete implementation of SVA, regardless of the hypotheses and the recommended valuation technique, are pointed out, as long as the risk of overgeneralizing the use of content analysis (CBCA)., El presente trabajo analiza la aplicabilidad y limitaciones de uno de los procedimientos más empleado para analizar la credibilidad de un testimonio, el SVA. El objetivo del presente trabajo consistió en analizar la capacidad de personas con discapacidad intelectual ligera y moderada para identificar a personas desconocidas vistas durante un periodo de tiempo breve y evaluar los factores que pudieran facilitar la tarea minimizando los errores. Para ello, se presentó a dos grupos de sujetos, con discapacidad y control, una fotografía de una persona que tras una tarea distractora deberían identificar en dos ruedas de seis fotografías (una de objetivo ausente y otra de objetivo presente). Cada sujeto realizó cuatro ensayos, dos con fotografías de hombres y otras dos con fotografías de mujeres. Los resultados mostraron que las personas con discapacidad intelectual en comparación con los sujetos control cometían menos aciertos y más falsas alarmas y discriminaban peor las caras (d’), aunque con pocas diferencias en el criterio de respuesta (ß). La relación entre rendimiento y CI resultó significativa para algunos de los tipos de respuesta. [ABSTRACT] The aim of this study was to analyze the unfamiliar face recognition ability of people with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities and assess factors that might facilitate the task while minimizing errors. Existe un interés considerable en hallar métodos que nos ayuden a saber cuándo una persona miente y cuándo dice la verdad desde un punto de vista forense. Actualmente, una de las líneas de investigación se inclina hacia el uso de potenciales relacionados con eventos. Se pretende hacer una revisión de los artículos que estudian estos procedimientos mediante distintos métodos: propiedades, fiabilidad, validez y limitaciones. Los resultados indican tasas de acierto en la discriminación de culpables en un rango de 7 al 100 por ciento, y en la de inocentes de 31 a 100 por ciento. La gran variabilidad y la posibilidad de “falsear” las respuestas llevan a cuestionar la inexactitud utilizada en algunos círculos mediáticos respecto a las cualidades y finalidades de dicha prueba. Se concluye la necesidad de profundizar más la posibilidad de que esta prueba sea utilizada con fines forenses., There is a considerable interest in finding methods that help us to know when a person is lying and when is telling the truth from a forensic point of view. Currently, one of the lines of research leans toward the use of event-related potentials. We intend to give a brief objective review of articles studying these procedures using different methods: properties, reliability, validity, and limitations. Results indicate success rates in discriminating the guilty in a range of 7 to 100 percent, and the not-guilty ones from 31 to 100 percent. Para los profesionales de la seguridad y la justicia (policías, abogados, jueces), los miles de artículos revisados por pares sobre comunicación no verbal representan fuentes importantes de conocimiento. Sin embargo, a pesar del alcance del trabajo científico realizado sobre este tema, los profesionales pueden recurrir a programas, métodos y enfoques que no reflejan el estado real de la ciencia. El objetivo de este artículo es examinar (i) los conceptos de comunicación no verbal transmitidos por estos programas, métodos y enfoques, pero también (ii) las consecuencias de su uso (por ejemplo, sobre la vida o la libertad de las personas). Para lograr estos objetivos, describimos el alcance de la investigación científica sobre la comunicación no verbal. Se examina un programa (SPOT: Evaluación de pasajeros mediante técnicas de observación), un método (BAI: Entrevista de análisis de conducta) y un enfoque (sinergología) que contradicen el estado de la ciencia. Finalmente, presentamos cinco hipótesis para explicar por qué algunas organizaciones en los campos de la seguridad y la justicia están recurriendo a la pseudociencia y a las técnicas pseudocientíficas. Improving interventions with victims and offenders with disabilities requires analysis of the degree of prevalence of crimes in which these people are involved. For this purpose, data regarding interventions made by the Spanish Civil Guard between 2008 and 2010, in which 2,099 people had some kind of disability, have been collected and analyzed, with particular regard to criminal offenses (felonies and/or misdemeanors). In this study, the relationship between the types of disability a person has and other variables like their connection to the incident, their gender, age, the relationship between victim and perpetrator, and the time and place of the events were all taken into consideration. The results show that most of the victims with disabilities served by the Spanish Civil Guard were male. The interventions were mainly aid and rescues. The objective of this study was to analyze the features that dis-tinguish statements given by actual and simulated victims with mild to moderate intellectual disability, using the credibility analysis procedure known as Reality Monitoring (RM). Two evaluators trained in credibility analysis procedures using content criteria evaluated 13 true statements and 16 false statements. The results obtained show that there is little difference between the two types of statements when analyzed on the basis of content criteria using the RM procedure. The only criteria that proved to be signifi-cant for discriminating between the two types of statements were the amount of details and the length of spontaneous statements obtained through free recall. None of the phenomenological characteristics studied turned out to be significant for discriminating between actual and simulat-ed victims. Graphic representation using high-dimensional visualization (HDV) with all criteria taken into consideration shows that the two types of statements are quite heterogeneous. Cluster analysis can group cases with a 68.75% chance of accuracy., El objetivo del presente trabajo consistió en analizar las caracte-rísticas diferenciales de los relatos emitidos por víctimas reales y simuladas con discapacidad intelectual ligera y moderada mediante el procedimiento de análisis de credibilidad de Control de la Realidad (RM). Dos evaluadores entrenados en los procedimientos de análisis de credibilidad mediante crite-rios de contenido evaluaron 13 relatos verdaderos y 16 relatos falsos. Los resultados encontrados muestran que existen pocas diferencias entre los dos tipos de relatos. Los únicos criterios que resultan significativos para discriminar entre los dos tipos de relatos son la cantidad de detalles y la longitud de las declaraciones espontáneas obtenidas mediante recuerdo li-bre. Ninguna de las características fenomenológicas examinadas resultó sig-nificativa para discriminar entre víctimas reales y simuladas. The aim of the present study was to examine the phenomenological qualities of self-reported negative andpositive memories. The study was conducted in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, and a total of 134 autobiographi-cal memories about negative and positive events were analyzed using a version of the PhenomenologicalQuestionnaire for Autobiographical Memory (Manzanero & López, 2007). Participants were universitystudents, 80 percent were women and 20 percent were men. Results showed that negative memories aremore confused, more complex, and decay more over time than positive ones. In contrast, no differenceswere found between positive and negative memories on sensory information, spatial location, vividness,definition, accessibility, fragmentation, recall perspective, doubts about the accuracy of the memory, andhow much participants recovered and talked about the event. El presente trabajo trata de poner de manifiesto el riesgo, para jueces y tribunales, de valorar de forma acrí-tica los informes periciales psicológicos referidos a la valoración del daño psíquico en supuestos de abuso sexual infantil (ASI). Desde la revisión bibliográfica realizada se han detectado serias limitaciones para detectar ASI en la utilización de indicadores clínicos que han surgido del contexto sanitario y asistencial. Se cuestiona el m delo teórico subyacente y la rigurosidad de los estudios sobre las consecuencias psicológicas asociadas al ASI. Igualmente, son debatidos algunos métodos de exploración clínica, extrapolados al contexto forense, y desaconsejados debido a su baja fiabilidad y validez. Se concluye señalando lo inadecuado de trasladar modelos y procedimientos del contexto clínico-asistencial al pericial, y la necesidad de exigir requisitos técnicos a los informes forenses., This paper tries to highlight the risk to judges and courts, to assess uncritically psychological expert reports relating to the assessment of psychological injury in cases of child sexual abuse (CSA). From the literature review have been identified serious limitations in the use of clinical indicators to detect CSA, that have emerged in the context of health care. The underlying theoretical model, and thoroughness of the studies on the psychological consequences associated with CSA are questioned. Also, some methods of clinical examination, extrapolated to forensic context, and advised against because of their poor reliability and validity, are discussed. En el presente trabajo analizamos algunos factores que inciden en la especial vulnerabilidad de las personas con Discapacidad Intelectual (DI) a ser víctimas de abusos y a sufrir una revictimización tras los mismos. De ellos destacamos la escasa adecuación de las entrevistas policiales y judiciales a sus características, y los sesgos en los juicios de credibilidad de los testimonios de las personas con DI. Frente a éstos, la Unidad de Atención a Víctimas con Discapacidad Intelectual (UAVDI) propone la introducción de la figura del facilitador en todo proceso policial y judicial con víctimas con DI. Presentamos aquellas investigaciones realizadas en la UAVDI que apoyan la instauración de adaptaciones en las ruedas de reconocimiento y en las entrevistas de obtención del testimonio de personas con DI. La introducción de las mismas es uno de los objetivos del facilitador, cuyo trabajo queda ilustrado en el análisis de un caso de una víctima de abuso sexual con DI. [ABSTRACT] In this paper we analyse some of the factors that affect the vulnerability of people with intellectual disability (ID) to be victims of abuse. The lack of adaptation of police and judicial interviews and the biases in the credibility judgments given to the testimony of people with ID were analysed. The Victim Support Unit for People with Intellectual Disability proposes as a solution the figure of the “helper advisor” in the police and judicial procedures. We will present the investigations made in our Care Unit that support the inclusion of adaptations in the line-up identifications and the interviews to obtain the testimony of the victim with ID. The aim of this work was to analyze the effect of presentation format and instructions on the ability of people with intellectual disability to identify individuals they did not know and had seen only briefly. With this objective in mind, 2 groups of subjects with mild to moderate intellectual disability were shown a photograph of a person and, after a distracting task, were asked to identify that person in 2 line-ups (target-absent and target-present) with 6 photographs each, where 2 types of instructions (neutral vs specific, between-subject design) and 2 presentation formats (simultaneous vs sequential, within-subject design) for the line-up photographs were used. Each subject completed 4 trials. The results showed that, generally speaking, people with intellectual disability were capable of distinguishing the face of a person previously seen under all these conditions. There was a significantly higher incidence of false alarms, however, when the photographs were presented sequentially and when specific instructions were not given. With specific instructions designed to lessen the social desirability effect and increase motivation for the task, false alarms on the target-absent line-up were reduced. The Psychology of Testimony has experienced extraordinary growth in recent decades, but its origins go back more than one hundred years. In this paper, the main milestones that have marked the development of the Psychology of Testimony as a discipline with its own identity in North America and Europe are reviewed. The advancement of scientific psychology, with different paradigm shifts, as well as the shattered relations with the law and social progress in human rights have marked its history. Thus, promising beginnings in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries took place, followed by a time of crisis around the forties and fifties, as a result of the Second World War and the abandonment of the studies on memory by the prevailing research paradigm. Cognitive Psychology and increased demand for psychologists in the administration of justice marked his rebirth in the seventies of the twentieth century. [RESUMEN]En el presente trabajo se recogen los principales hitos que han marcado a lo largo de más de cien años el desarrollo de la Psicología del Testimonio como una disciplina con entidad propia. Se ha debatido largamente sobre la realidad de las memorias disociativas. Desde perspectivas clínicas se ha apoyado la existencia de este fenómeno que se ha intentado extrapolar a contextos legales. Sin embargo, existe poca evidencia para poder confirmarlo, al tiempo que las memorias disociativas o reprimidas irían en contra del funcionamiento normal de la memoria. En el presente trabajo se revisa la principal legislación sobre la anticipación de la prueba testifical para menores supuestas víctimas de delitos sexuales, y se presenta un protocolo para su óptimo desarrollo, considerando los conocimientos procedentes de la Psicología del Testimonio y de la Psicología de la Victimización Criminal, además de la experiencia práctica de psicólogos criminalistas y forenses. La prueba preconstituida es una fórmula jurídica que en los casos de supuesto abuso sexual infantil tiene dos objetivos fundamentales: a) proteger el testimonio del menor (indicio cognitivo) del deterioro derivado de múltiples e inadecuados abordajes de éste, y b) evitar la re-victimización del menor por su paso por el procedimiento penal. [ABSTRACT] This paper reviews the main legislation for the anticipation of the testimony for alleged child victims of sexual offenses. In this frame a protocol for development preconstituted evidence is presented based on the knowledge from the Psychology of Testimony and the Psychology of Criminal Victimization in addition to the practical experience of criminologists and forensic psychologists. This study aimed to determine the extent to which Reality Moni-toring (RM) content analysis can provide useful information when discrim-inating between actual versus false statements. Participants were instructed to either describe a traffic accident as eyewitness actual role or to describe the accident as a simulated victim. Data were analysed in terms of accuracy and quality, and were represented using high dimensional visualization (HDV). In Experiment 1 (between-participant design), participants made significantly more references to cognitive operations, more self-references and less changes in order when describing the event as simulated victim. In Experiment 2 (within-participants design) participants also made signifi-cantly more references to cognitive operations and more self references when describing the event from the simulated victim as well as being less accurate, providing less irrelevant information and more evaluative com-ments. El proyecto de innovación “Aplicación de Flipped learning (FL) en la docencia universitaria con perspectiva de género” ha proporcionado una reflexión sobre el sesgo de género en la docencia y ha permitido aumentar la visibilidad de las aportaciones relevantes de las mujeres a nuestra disciplinas. Se ha conseguido una implicación activa de nuestro alumnado, ya que el abordaje se realizó mediante la metodología flipped learning (FL). La situación covid-19 ha supuesto la adaptación del proyecto a la situación de excepción acaecida durante el curso 2019/20.
