Nitrogen use efficiency in wheat biomass and grain yields can be favored by the biopolymer hydrogel. The objective of the study was to analyze the use of the biopolymer hydrogel applied to the seed in the optimization of fertilizer-N on wheat biomass and grain yields, under different conditions of agricultural year and succession systems of high and reduced release of residual-N. In the study, two experiments were conducted, with different farming systems, soybean/wheat and maize/wheat, one to quantify the biomass yield rate and the other to determine grain yield. The experiments were conducted in the years 2014 and 2015, in a randomized block design with four replicates in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme, corresponding to hydrogel doses (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) added in the groove along with the seed and N fertilizer rates (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1), applied as top-dressing. It is possible to improve the fertilizer-N efficiency by wheat using the biopolymer hydrogel for the production of biomass and grains. The highest wheat yield per kilogram of N supplied is obtained with 30 and 60 kg ha-1 of hydrogel, regardless of the year and succession system. RESUMO A eficiência de uso do nitrogênio na produtividade do trigo, pode ser favorecida pelo biopolímero hidrogel. O objetivo do estudo foi analisar o uso do biopolímero hidrogel aplicado junto à semente na otimização do N-fertilizante sobre a produtividade de biomassa e grãos de trigo, em distintas condições de ano agrícola e sistemas de sucessão de alta e reduzida liberação de N-residual. No estudo dois experimentos foram conduzidos nos anos de 2014 e 2015, um para quantificar a taxa de produtividade de biomassa e biomassa total e o outro para determinação da produtividade de grãos. O delineamento experimental foi o de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições, em fatorial 4 x 4 para doses de hidrogel (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha-1) adicionado junto à semente e doses de N-fertilizante (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha-1) aplicadas em cobertura, respectivamente, no sistema de sucessão soja/trigo e milho/trigo. É possível melhorar a eficiência de N-fertilizante pelo trigo com o uso do biopolímero hidrogel à produção de biomassa e grãos. A maior produtividade de trigo por quilograma de nitrogênio fornecido é obtida com 30 e 60 kg ha-1 de hidrogel, independente do ano e do sistema de sucessão.

The retainers of water in the soil can favor nitrogen (N) use efficiency in oat yield. The aim of the study was to determine if the conditions of use of the biopolymer hydrogel increase the fertilizer-N use efficiency in oat yield in succession systems of high and low residual-N release. In each succession system (soybean/oat, corn/oat), two experiments were conducted in 2014 and 2015, one to quantify biomass yield and the other to estimate grain yield and lodging. The design was randomized blocks with four replicates in a 4 x 4 factorial scheme for hydrogel doses (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1), added in the furrow with the seed, and N fertilizer doses (0, 30, 60 and 120 kg ha-1) applied in the fourth-expanded-leaf stage. The use of hydrogel increases N use efficiency in oat yield, especially under the conditions of 30 to 60 kg ha-1 of biopolymer; however, this effect is dependent on the succession system and on weather conditions. RESUMO Os hidroretentores de água no solo podem favorecer a eficiência de uso do nitrogênio na produtividade da aveia. O objetivo do estudo foi determinar se as condições de uso do biopolímero hidrogel aumentam a eficiência de aproveitamento do N-fertilizante na produtividade da aveia em sistemas de sucessão de alta e reduzida liberação de residual-N. Em cada sistema de sucessão (soja/aveia; milho/aveia), dois experimentos foram conduzidos em 2014 e 2015, um para quantificar a taxa de produtividade de biomassa e outro na estimativa da produtividade de grãos e o acamamento. O delineamento foi de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições em fatorial 4 x 4, para doses de hidrogel (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha-1), adicionado no sulco junto à semente e doses de N-fertilizante (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha-1), aplicado no estádio de 4a folha expandida. O uso de hidrogel aumentou a eficiência de aproveitamento do nitrogênio na produtividade da aveia, principalmente nas condições de 30 e 60 kg ha-1 do biopolímero; porém, este efeito é dependente do sistema de sucessão e condições meteorológicas.

The growth regulator modifies the expression of lodging and panicle components in oat plants, with reflexes in yield. The objective of this study was to define the optimal dose of growth regulator in oat for a maximum lodging of 5%. In addition, this study aimed to identify potential variables of the panicle to compose the multiple linear regression model and the simulation of grain yield in conditions of use of the regulator under low, high and very high fertilization with nitrogen. The study was conducted in 2011, 2012 and 2013 in a randomized block design with four replicates in a 4 x 3 factorial scheme, for growth regulator doses (0, 200, 400 and 600 mL ha-1) and N-fertilizer doses (30, 90 and 150 kg ha-1), respectively. The growth regulator doses of 395, 450 and 560 mL ha-1 are efficient, with maximum oat lodging of 5%, under low, high and very high nitrogen fertilization, respectively. The grain weight per panicle and panicle harvest index are potential variables to compose the multiple linear regression model. Multiple linear regression equations are efficient in the simulation of oat grain yield under the conditions of use of growth regulator, regardless of the N-fertilizer dose. RESUMO O regulador de crescimento modifica a expressão do acamamento e componentes da panícula da aveia com reflexos na produtividade. O objetivo do estudo é a definição da dose ideal do regulador de crescimento em aveia para no máximo 5% de acamamento. Além disso, o estudo visa também identificar variáveis potenciais da panícula para compor o modelo de regressão linear múltipla e a simulação da produtividade de grãos nas condições de uso do regulador em reduzida, alta e muito alta fertilização com nitrogênio. O estudo foi conduzido em 2011, 2012 e 2013 em delineamento de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições em fatorial 4 x 3, para doses de regulador (0, 200, 400 e 600 mL ha-1) e de N-fertilizante (30, 90 e 150 kg ha-1), respectivamente. As doses de 395, 450 e 560 mL ha-1 de regulador de crescimento são eficientes, com acamamento de plantas de aveia de no máximo 5%, em reduzida, alta e muito alta fertilização com nitrogênio, respectivamente. A massa de grãos da panícula e o índice de colheita da panícula são variáveis potenciais para compor o modelo de regressão linear múltipla. As equações de regressão linear múltipla são eficientes na simulação da produtividade de grãos de aveia nas condições de uso de regulador de crescimento independente da dose de N-fertilizante.

The use of growth regulator in oats can reduce plant lodging with reflections in biomass and grain yield. The objective of the study was to determine the feasibility and efficiency of using Trinexapac-Ethyl regulator in the growth of white oat under different conditions of N-fertilizer and years favorable and unfavorable for cultivation. In this study, two experiments were conducted in the years 2011, 2012 and 2013, one for quantifying biomass production rate and the other for the determination of grain yield and lodging. The experimental design was randomized blocks with four replicates, in a 4 x 3 factorial scheme, for growth regulator doses (0, 200, 400 and 600 mL ha-1) and nitrogen doses (30, 90 and 150 kg ha-1), respectively. There is a linear reduction of biomass rate with the increase in the growth regulator dose in oat, regardless of the condition of year and use of N-fertilizer. The growth regulator dose of 495 mL ha-1 efficiently reduces lodging with reduced, high and very high use of N-fertilizer, without reducing the yield of oat grains, in favorable, intermediate or unfavorable year for cultivation. RESUMO O uso do regulador de crescimento em aveia pode reduzir o acamamento de plantas com reflexos na produtividade de biomassa e grãos. Objetivou-se, no estudo, determinar a viabilidade e a eficiência do uso do regulador de crescimento Trinexapac-Ethyl em aveia branca em diferentes condições de uso de N-fertilizante e de ano favorável e desfavorável ao cultivo. Neste estudo, dois experimentos foram conduzidos nos anos de 2011, 2012 e 2013, um para quantificar a taxa de produção de biomassa e outro para determinação da produtividade de grãos e o acamamento. O delineamento experimental foi de blocos ao acaso com quatro repetições em esquema fatorial 4 x 3 para doses de regulador de crescimento (0, 200, 400 e 600 mL ha-1) e doses de nitrogênio (30, 90 e 150 kg ha-1) respectivamente. Há redução linear da taxa de biomassa com o incremento da dose de regulador de crescimento em aveia independente da condição de ano e uso de N-fertilizante. No uso reduzido alto e muito alto de N-fertilizante, a dose de 495 mL ha-1 de regulador reduz com eficiência o acamamento sem prejuízos na produtividade de grãos de aveia, seja ano favorável, intermediário ou desfavorável ao cultivo.

A produção de biomassa e grãos de aveia depende diretamente das formas de fornecimento de nitrogênio (N). Propôs-se, com este estudo, determinar a eficiência de aproveitamento de N-fertilizante na elaboração de biomassa e grãos de aveia em distintos sistemas de cultivo e estimar a máxima eficiência técnica e econômica de produtividade de grãos na identificação de cultivares mais eficientes no uso do N. O estudo foi conduzido nos anos de 2011 e 2012, em delineamento experimental de blocos casualizados com quatro repetições em esquema fatorial 4 x 2 para Doses de Nitrogênio (0, 30, 60 e 120 kg ha-1) e Cultivares de Aveia (Barbarasul e Brisasul) no sistema soja/aveia e milho/aveia. Há tendência de crescimento na taxa de biomassa em aveia com o incremento das doses de N-fertilizante em ambos os sistemas de cultivo, condição nem sempre acompanhada da maior produtividade de grãos. A cultivar Brisasul mostra maior eficiência no aproveitamento do N à elaboração de biomassa e grãos, independente do sistema de cultivo. A definição da dose ajustada em aveia permite resultados mais vantajosos pela análise da máxima eficiência econômica de produtividade de grãos. The production of biomass and oat grains is directly dependent on the forms of nitrogen (N) supply. The objective of this study was to determine the efficiency of utilization of N-fertilizer on biomass and grain oat in high and reduced N-residual release in different cropping systems and estimate the maximum technical and economic efficiency of grain yield in identifying cultivars more efficient in the use of N. The study was conducted in the years 2011 and 2012 in a randomized block design with four replications in a 4 x 2 factorial with four nitrogen rates (0 , 30 , 60 and 120 kg ha-1) and two oat cultivars (Barbarasul and Brisasul) in soybean/oat and corn/oat system. There is a tendency of increase in growth rate in oat biomass with increasing doses of N-fertilizer in both cropping systems, however, condition is not always accompanied by the increased productivity of grain. The cultivar Brisasul shows greater efficiency in the utilization of N in the elaboration of biomass and grain, independent of the production system. The definition of adjusted dose in oats allows more advantageous results by analysis of maximum economic efficiency for grain yield.
