Objective: To explore the relationship between parenting styles and children's personality traits and parental-reported sleep bruxism (SB)., Methods: A total of 301 parents/caregivers of Brazilian children participated in this cross-sectional study and answered an online questionnaire addressing sociodemographic characteristics, sleep-related behaviors and parent-reported SB. The Brazilian versions of the Parenting Styles and Dimensions Questionnaire and the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Junior assessed children's parenting styles and personality traits. Descriptive analysis and multinomial logistic regression were used., Results: Boys (OR=2.07; 95% CI=1.09-3.91) whose snoring (OR=2.98; 95% CI=1.55-5.73) were associated with mild parent-reported SB. Boys (OR=2.61; 95% CI=1.20-5.70) and high levels of neuroticism (OR=2.27; 95% CI=1.06-4.860) were associated with moderate/severe parent-reported SB. Authoritarian parenting attitudes decreased the likelihood of moderate/severe parent-reported SB (OR=0.37; 95% CI=0.16-0.86)., Conclusions: Parents/caregivers who exhibited more authoritarian attitudes reported a lower prevalence of moderate/severe children SB. Neuroticism trait and snoring influenced the severity of parent-reported SB.

With the advent of the new diagnostic model for personality disorders in the 11th revision of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11), researchers and practitioners in World Health Organization signatory countries are urged to implement it. This study aims to develop a brief, reliable, and valid scale for assessing maladaptive personality traits according to the ICD-11 model, using the item pool of the Dimensional Clinical Personality Inventory (IDCP-2). Quantitative and qualitative criteria for item selection were applied to a sample of 251 Brazilian adults. As a result, the 25 items (five items per factor) were selected, demonstrating promising evidence of validity based on the internal structure with a database of 1,659 Brazilian adults. In addition, we found good evidence of validity based on relationships with external variables, particularly those related to personality pathology, in a sample of 617 Brazilian adults. The Web-based Executive Functioning Questionnaire (Webexec) is a brief scale developed to assess executive functions via online format. It has been used in different contexts, but its adaptation to other cultures is still restricted. This study aimed to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the Webexec for a Brazilian sample considering the psychometric properties of the scale. This study used a sample of 295 Brazilian participants, with a mean age equal to 20.69 ( SD  = 6.030). This is a longitudinal study with reapplication of the scale six weeks after the test phase. Classical and contemporary methods were applied to analyze the psychometric properties of the Webexec. The results showed that the scale presented excellent psychometric properties for the Brazilian version, considering validity evidence based on the content and internal structure of Webexec, as well as reliability and precision. However, it is considered that other relational and experimental studies should be carried out with a larger sample size and for different population groups.

The aim of this study was to analyze the psychometric properties of the Brazilian version of the Test de Evaluación Neuropsicologica Infantil (TENI) using classical test theory (CTT), item response theory (IRT), and differential item functioning (DIF) models. The visuospatial working memory, focused attention, and matrix reasoning subtasks were analyzed. A total of 553 children, aged between 3 and 9 years of age, from eight public and private schools from the urban area of Belo Horizonte were assessed. In general, all subtasks can be treated essentially as unidimensional. Items' discrimination and difficulties increased in the order of presentation, as they were planned, using CTT and IRT. Items with DIF were found in all tasks, with higher probabilities of answering items correctly for boys and for private school children. Our results corroborated the partial use of some TENI subtasks as a promising digital instrument for non-verbal neuropsychological assessment for children.

This study investigated the associations of multidimensional perfectionism with positive affect and negative outcomes (affect and Obsessive-Compulsive Personality Disorder [OCPD] pathological traits) through network analysis. The sample consisted of 604 Brazilian adults aged 18-74 years. The network analysis showed that perfectionistic concerns (PC) is strongly and positively associated with negative outcomes, while perfectionistic strivings (PS) maintain positive associations with positive affect, but not negative affect. Negative affect seems to operate as a bridge between perfectionism and OCPD pathological traits, raising crucial questions about the antecedent and consequential role of affect for understanding perfectionism's development and the traits observed in individuals with OCPD. This paper reports the results from a 3-year follow-up study to measure the long-term efficacy of a cognitive training for healthy older adults and investigates the effects of booster sessions using an entropy-based metric., Design: semi-randomized quasi-experimental controlled design., Participants: 50 older adults, (M = 73.3, SD = 7.77) assigned into experimental (N = 25; Mean age = 73.9; SD = 8.62) and control groups (N = 25; mean age = 72.9; SD = 6.97)., Instruments: six subtests of WAIS and two episodic memory tasks., Procedures: the participants were assessed on four occasions: after the end of the original intervention, pre-booster sessions (three years after the original intervention), immediately after the booster sessions and three months after the booster sessions., Results: the repeated measures ANOVA showed that two of the cognitive gains reported in the original intervention were also identified in the follow-up: Coding (F(1, 44) = 11.79, MSE = 0.77, p = .001, eta squared = 0.084) and Picture Completion (F(1, 47) = 10.01, MSE = 0.73, p = .003, eta squared = 0.060). After the booster sessions, all variables presented a significant interaction between group and time favorable to the experimental group (moderate to high effect sizes). To compare the level of cohesion of the cognitive variables between the groups, an entropy-based metric was used. The experimental group presented a lower level of cohesion on three of the four measurement occasions, suggesting a differential impact of the intervention with immediate and short-term effects, but without long-term effects., (Copyright © 2021. The relations of Gf (Standard Progressive Matrices Raven), Gc (verbal scale of Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-Third Version), personality dimensions (Eysenck Personality Questionnaire-Junior Version), and disruptive behavior (TDAH scale) with school achievement (measured by TDE test and PISA test) were investigated. Two samples of students (total N = 534) representing a broad range of socioeconomic status (SES) participated in this study. Path models were conducted. The results demonstrated that (1) in both samples no sex differences related to school achievement were found; (2) in the first sample, after controlling for age and SES differences, Gf and psychoticism predicted (.38 and -.13, respectively) school achievement (measured by TDE test); (3) in the second sample, after controlling for SES differences to which additional measures were administered, Gf and Gc positively predicted (.22 and .40, respectively) school achievement (measured by PISA test). In addition, psychoticism and disruptive behavior also predicted school performance (-.14 and -.28, respectively). Some theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
