Background: Bruchid beetle (Callosobruchus chinensis) is one of the devastating field carry over storage pest causing a huge crop loss, especially in greengram. The pre-breeding lines were developed by crossing between a cultivated variety, VBN (Gg) 2 and Vigna radiata var. sublobata, a progenitor species of greengram used as a resistant parent against bruchid. Methods: A total of 53 stabilized inter sub-specific lines along with parents were screened for bruchid resistance by ‘no choice’ method with two replications. Screening parameters were recorded for all the 53 lines and were statistically analysed. Damage assessment was carried out and the three resistant lines obtained during initial screening was further confirmed. Result: The low seed damage per cent was observed in three lines viz., GGISC-2 (18.00), GGISC-21 (20.00) and GGISC-49 (14.00). The susceptibility index was 0.048, 0.049 and 0.048 in GGISC-2, GGISC-21 and GGISC-49, respectively and hence, classified as bruchid resistant. Delayed adult emergence, uneven adult emergence, prolonged developmental period, small and malformed adults were the other parameters observed in resistant lines. One of the most economic exploitation, widely cultivated, and financially viable non-mulberry silkworms is the eri silkworm (Philosamia ricini). The feeds that eri silkworms consume have a significant impact on their yield and silk production. A study was conducted to assess the growth characteristics of the eco races of the eri silkworm in the circumstances of western region of Tamil Nadu. The Central Muga and Eri Research Institute in Jorhat, Assam provided the eco races of eri silkworm. Three replications of the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) were used to set up the treatments. By feeding worms with castor leaves in the cellular rearing method, the growth characteristics of eco races of eri silkworm, specifically the larval parameter and cocoon parameter, were examined. Among the eco races of eri silkworm in comparison with standard F1 hybrid, the eco race Jonai recorded the maximum growth attributes such as larval weight (7.09 g), cocoon weight (3.93 g), shell weight (0.66 g), shell ratio, ERR (16.78 %) which was on par with F1 hybrid followed by Khanapara and Titabar. The least was observed in Barpathar and Adogiri. This study reveals that amongten eco races of eri silkworm, the eco race Jonai recorded performed well in western zone condition of Tamil Nadu and it can be commercially reared in alternative to Commercial F1 breed. As part of this study, the vibrational properties of 3H4NB were examined. Comparing observed and simulated vibrational spectra allowed for the identification of characteristic frequencies and the attribution of band names. For the density functional theory (DFT) calculations, the LSDA functional with 6-311++G(d,p) degree of approximation was used. Furthermore, the same level of theory was used to calculate molecular orbitals such as natural bond orbitals (NBOs) and the HOMO-LUMO energy gap. The condensed Fukui function and the molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) surface were used to determine the relative electrophilicity and nucleophilicity of the current molecule. Intermolecular hydrogen bonding interactions are studied using Hirshfeld surface analysis and fingerprint plots. Molecular docking analysis was used to investigate the compound's biological activities. The 3-Hydroxy-4-methoxybenzaldehyde (3H4MB) chemical has been explored experimentally and significantly using density functional theory (DFT) on the B3LYP/6- 311++G(d,p) technique as one of the derivatives of isovanillin, a phenolic aldehyde an organic substance. 3H4MB UV-Visible (800-100 nm), 1H NMR, and 13C NMR experiments have all been documented. The chemical shift measured by NMR is evaluated and compared to experimental values. Theoretical UV values were calculated using the TD-DFT approach and compared to experimental spectrum data, as well as oscillator strength and electron excitation energies. Charge transfer happens inside the molecule, according to the estimated HOMO--LUMO band gap energies. Chemical characteristics such as ionisation potential (I), electron affinity (A), hardness (η), and softness (σ) have been computed, as well as the molecule's chemical reactivity. The charge transfer and resonance of electron density within the molecule were studied using NBO analysis of the analyzed chemical. The molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) was investigated, and the resulting 3D image, which depicts the electrophilic and nucleophilic regions within the compound, was also drawn. Silkworm pupal oil was extracted using different solvents from spent dried pupal powder by soxhlet and column extraction methods. The oil content from spent silkworm pupae was maximum recovered from mulberry silkworm pupae (25.90 g/100 g) with hexane solvent in the column extraction method. The better physio-chemical properties viz., density (0.943 g/mL), specific gravity (0.991 g/mL), saponification value (235.147 g KOH/ g oil), iodine value (131.653 g I/ 100 g) and free fatty acids (5.057 %) were observed in the eri silkworm pupal oil, whereas, maximum acid number (1.966 mg KOH/g oil) and peroxide value of (2.44 ppm) was noticed in mulberry silkworm pupal oil. Hence, mulberry silkworm pupae were effectively used for oil extraction by column extraction method using hexane, and these physio-chemical properties of pupal oil were achieved the desired level for utilizing the silkworm pupae oil as commercial utilization. Bio efficacy of virulent isolate of entomopathogenic fungi, Beauveria bassiana (MK918495) was evaluated against two spotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae on tuberose under pot culture condition at Insectary, Department of Agricultural Entomology, TNAU, Coimbatore. For effective working of any insect pathogen, it is mandatory to develop an effective formulation. Keeping this point in view, in the present study, compatibility of the fungal isolate with two different oils, viz., ground nut and sunflower were tested at different concentrations, viz., 1, 3, 5 and 10%. The results revealed that the groundnut oil was compatible with B. bassiana at all concentrations with respect to colony growth and spore yield compared to sunflower oil which was compatible only at one percent. Based on the results, oil in water and oil based formulations were prepared. At higher concentration of 10%, groundnut oil recorded the radial colony growth of 36.90 mm diameter and spore yield of 1.2 x 108 spores mL-1. Among the seven formulations (A-G) tested, formulation D which contained surfactant mixture having HLB value of 10.00 (53.33% Tween 80 and 46.67% Span 80) formed a better suspension with less flocculation layer and dispersion of conidia in spray fluid and was found to be better as it formed a good emulsion with water by mere shaking. Results of pot culture studies revealed that groundnut oil based fungal formulation was effective with a cumulative mean mite population reduction of 64.98% followed by crude fungal spore suspension (62.16%) and both were statistically on par with each other. Entomopathogenic fungi are known to produce a multitude of low molecular weight secondary metabolites involved in different biological processes including fungal development, intercellular communication and interaction with other organisms in complex niches. In the present investigation, heterogeneity in metabolome profile of three isolates of Beauveria bassiana viz., MH590235 (TM), MK918495 (BR) and KX263275 (BbI8) were analyzed through GC-MS. Distinct differences in metabolite profile of the isolates were observed. A total of 63 metabolites were detected from all the isolates combined. Metabolites, 5-Oxotetrahydrofuran-2-carboxylic acid and undecane were found to be specific to BR isolate. Macrocyclic gamma lactones were detected in culture filtrates of BR and BbI8, oleic acid and hexadecanoic acid in TM and BR. An insecticidal compound, levoglucos an was detected in all the fungal isolates. Among the isolates, TM revealed higher variability in the metabolite production through PCA analysis. The metabolome of TM isolate contained compounds having several biological functions, viz., insecticidal and antimicrobial activity, lipid and fatty acid metabolisms and virulence enhancing factors. Mulberry silkworm, Bombyx mori L. domesticated for more than 5000 years is highly susceptible to diseases and adverse environmental conditions. Hence, it is appropriate to use plant products, which have been well proved for their antimicrobial properties. Among the various diseases affecting B. mori, bacterial pathogens alone inflict loss to the tune of 70 per cent. Hence, in vitro and in vivo studies were conducted for the management of bacterial pathogens with chloroform extracts of plants, viz., Thuja orientalis (L), Aegle marmelos and Asparagus gonoclados (Baker) along with standard antibiotics. The plant extracts were tested against pathogenic forms of bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus thuringiensis infecting the commercially exploited silkworm breeds, PM x CSR2 and CSR2 x CSR4. The double hybrid, (CSR 6X CSR 26) X (CSR 2 X CSR 27) and its reciprocal, (CSR 2 X CSR 27) X (CSR 6X CSR 26), bivoltine hybrid, CSR 2 x CSR 4 and cross breed, PM x CSR 2 were reared on the leaf of mulberry varieties V1, MR 2, and S 36 in three seasons viz., summer, monsoon and winter. The effect of varieties, season and instar on nutritional parameters such as consumption index (CI), Growth rate (GR), Efficiency of conversion of ingested food (ECI), Efficiency of conversion of digested food (ECD) into body matter and Coefficient of metabolism (CM) were studied. Irrespective of breeds, CI, ECI and ECD were higher on V1 during summer and monsoon. PM x CSR2 recorded highest CI, CR and AD. Double hybrid, (CSR 6 X CSR 26) X (CSR 2 X CSR 27) recorded highest ECI and ECI) during summer and monsoon and highest growth rate during monsoon. Water treatment is a worldwide issue. This review aims to present current problems and future challenges in water treatments with the existing methodologies. Carbon nanotube production, characterization, and prospective uses have been the subject of considerable and rigorous research around the world. They have a large number of technical uses because of their distinct physical characteristics. Various catalyst materials are used to make carbon nanotubes. This review's primary focus is on integrated and single-treatment technologies for all kinds of drinking water resources, including ground and surface water. Inorganic non-metallic matter, heavy metals, natural organic matter, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, disinfection by-products and microbiological pollutants are among the contaminants that these treatment systems can remediate in polluted drinking water resources. Significant advances in the antibacterial and adsorption capabilities of carbon-based nanomaterials have opened up new options for excluding organic/inorganic and biological contaminants from drinking water in recent years. The advancements in multifunctional nanocomposites synthesis pave the possibility for their use in enhanced wastewater purification system design. The adsorptive and antibacterial characteristics of six main kinds of carbon nanomaterials are single-walled carbon nanotubes, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, graphene, graphene oxide, fullerene and single-walled carbon nanohorns. This review potentially addressed the essential metallic and polymeric nanocomposites, are described and compared. Endometriosis is known to be a gynaecological condition characterised by persistent inflammation and abnormal development of endometrial stroma and glands. Researchers require a rodent model to analyse the disease environment. Animal models are the best option for investigating the etiology and effective treatment of debilitating illnesses in women since rodents, like humans, menstruate. In order to develop the model system, diethylstilbestrol (DES) was examined for its ability to induce endometriosis in rats by investigating its effect on the estrus cycle, hormones, and key markers. The results demonstrated that animals given DES had an erratic estrus cycle and aberrant hormone levels. Histomorphology revealed the development of an endometriosis environment with degenerative epithelium and enlarged glandular cells after DES induction. The higher levels of estrogen, progesterone, and MCP-1 were shown in the endometriosis induced animals. Endometriosis-induced groups had decreased levels of HOXA10 and HOXA11 and increased levels of VEGF and COX-2.
