Abstract Background Facioscapulohumeral dystrophy (FSHD) is a myopathy characterized by the loss of repressive epigenetic features affecting the D4Z4 locus (4q35). The assessment of DNA methylation at two regions (DUX4-PAS and DR1) of D4Z4 locus proved to be an effective method to detect epigenetic signatures compatible with FSHD. The present study aims at validating the employment of this method into clinical practice and improving the protocol by refining the classification thresholds of 4qA/4qA patients. To this purpose, 218 subjects with clinical suspicion of FSHD collected in 2022–2023 were analyzed. Each participant underwent in parallel the traditional FSHD molecular testing (D4Z4 sizing) and the proposed methylation assay. The results provided by both analyses were compared to evaluate the concordance and calculate the performance metrics of the methylation test. Results Among the 218 subjects, the 4q variant type distribution was 54% 4qA/4qA, 43% 4qA/4qB and 3% 4qB/4qB. The methylation analysis was performed only on carriers of at least one 4qA allele. After refining the classification threshold, the test reached the following performance metrics: sensitivity = 0.90, specificity = 1.00 and accuracy = 0.93. These results confirmed the effectiveness of the methylation assay in identifying patients with genetic signature compatible with FSHD1 and FSHD2 based on their DUX4-PAS and DR1 profile, respectively. The methylation data were also evaluated with respect to the clinical information. Conclusions The study confirmed the ability of the method to accurately identify methylation profiles compatible with FSHD genetic signatures considering the 4q genotype. Moreover, the test allows the detection of hypomethylated profiles in asymptomatic patients, suggesting its potential application in identifying preclinical conditions in patients with positive family history and FSHD genetic signatures. Furthermore, the present work emphasizes the importance of interpreting methylation profiles considering the patients’ clinical data.

Introdução: A osteomielite é um processo infeccioso ósseo. Aguda é a via hematogênica, mas a osteomielite crônica (OMC), ocorre por meio de traumas ou pós cirúrgicos com diagnósticos tardios. A etiologia habitual são os gram+, em especial o Staphylococcus aureus. O Papiliotrema laurentii (PL), antigo Cryptococcus, tem relatos de infecções sintomáticas, especialmente em dispositivos e pós cirúrgicos, em pacientes imunodeprimidos. Não há protocolo de tratamento para PL; relatos em outros sítios de infecção, apontam a anfotericina lipossomal (AL) e o fluconazol (F), como escolhas de maior eficácia. É necessário se ater às particularidades de cada caso. Objetivo: Relatar caso não encontrado em outras literaturas, sobre OMC causada pelo fungo PL. Método: Relato de caso e revisão da literatura. Resultados: Feminina, 40 anos, múltiplos procedimentos cirúrgicos (PC) no quadril esquerdo, devido ao impacto femoroacetabular. Após 2a e 7m do último PC, colocação de prótese total de quadril (PTQ). Permaneceu assintomática por 6 meses, quando iniciou dor, 11 meses após PTQ; quadro febril, edema local e em coxa esquerda, realizado punção de coleção fechada, com crescimento de PL., observado abscesso periprótese ortopédica em ressonância nuclear magnética (RNM). Na internação, utilizado tratamento empírico (Teicoplanina e Meropenem). Realizado revisão de PTQ com retirada de componente e novas culturas de líquido sinovial, sec. abscesso, partes moles e osso, que confirmaram PL. Sem resposta terapêutica, suspensão de antibioticoterapia empírica e introdução de F, mantido por 19 dias, sem resposta, modificado então, para AL, mantida por 12 semanas. Recebeu alta com melhora clínica. Após 3 meses da finalização de tratamento, reabordagem para colocação de nova prótese, novas coletas de culturas, que resultaram negativas. Conclusão: O PL é um fungo patogênico, sem relatos de infecção óssea, raro em outros sítios de infecção, mas que deverá ser considerado, em pacientes pós procedimentos cirúrgicos ortopédicos com prótese. Na experiência aqui descrita, a melhor resposta ocorreu com o uso de AL.

Introdução: Os implantes em próteses valvares (IPV) tem a endocardite infecciosa (EI) como grave complicação do procedimento. A espécie Leuconostoc pseudomesenteroides (LP), coco gram+, encontrado em laticínios, vegetais, fezes e na vagina, é um agente raro causador da endocardite, porém, o mesmo deve ser considerado quando não há melhora clínica, com uso de antibioticoterapia empírica adequada. Objetivo: Relatar caso raro de paciente lúpica (LES), com desenvolvimento de EI por LP, 10 meses após IPV. Método: Relato de caso e revisão de prontuário. Resultados: Feminino, 69 anos, com LES, uso crônico de metotrexato e pós operatório de IPV, queixa de tosse seca, astenia e febre 10 meses após procedimento e uso de ceftriaxone empírico. 2 hemoculturas positivas para LP no dia 08/03/2023, agente pouco habitual, sugerindo uma endocardite em paciente imunossuprimido com valvopatia. O 1° ecocardiograma transesofágico (ECOTE) não detectou quaisquer alterações sugestivas de EI, porém o 2° ECOTE, repetido 16 dias depois, identificou prótese de implante percutâneo em posição aórtica, com dupla lesão leve e imagem sugestiva de vegetação no folheto coronariano esquerdo e nova regurgitação. Inicialmente foi optado por penicilina cristalina + gentamicina, em D6, ainda febril e hipotensa, optou-se por substituir por daptomicina 8 mg/kg/dia e coleta de novas hemoculturas, posteriormente positivas para LP. Em D2 de daptomicina, melhora clínica, 2 hemoculturas, que foram negativas. 3° ECOTE (realizado 42 dias após início do tratamento) apresentou ausência de vegetações endocárdicas ou complicações de endocardite infecciosa bioprótese V. Aórtico. Conclusão: Trata-se de um caso raro de EI por LP, diagnosticado pelos critérios de Dukes modificado (3 critérios maiores e 2 menores). Não podemos afirmar que houve falha terapêutica com a penicilina cristalina, uma vez que a negativação da cultura aconteceu 48 horas depois da sua substituição, mas a melhora clínica ocorreu após a daptomicina. Não há padrão de antibiograma para essa bactéria, assim as opções terapêuticas foram baseadas em literatura.

This study investigates the effect of using cation exchange resins in a red wine obtained by flash détente thermovinification on the oxidative stability of red wines and rosé sparkling wines obtained by blending the resin-treated red wine with white wine. The results show that reducing the pH of thermovinified red wines by cation exchange improves their oxidative stability and increases the intensity of the red colour, although it reduces the concentration of total anthocyanins. The analysis of metals in the wines indicates a general reduction of cations with the use of resins, which may contribute to the oxidative stability of the wines. In addition, rosé sparkling wines produced from these lower pH red wines showed greater oxidative stability over 6 months and in a forced oxidation test. These results have significant implications for the wine industry, offering new strategies to improve the production of rosé sparkling wines, which are increasingly appreciated by the market.

Este estudo investigou os efeitos da percepção do vínculo parental, variáveis sociodemográficas e gestacionais na intensidade do apego materno-fetal (AMF) no contexto de gestação de alto risco. Trata-se de um estudo quantitativo e transversal com 119 participantes. Foi aplicado um questionário sociodemográfico, a Escala de Apego Materno-Fetal - Versão Breve e o Parental Bonding Instrument. Os resultados da análise de regressão linear múltipla foram estatisticamente significativos (p < 0,05). O modelo final explicou 28,7 % da variância do AMF e foi composto pelas variáveis de superproteção paterna, cuidado paterno, idade da mulher, idade gestacional e suporte do pai do bebê. Reitera-se que a intensidade do AMF é multideterminada, envolvendo aspectos da história de vida, sociais e situacionais. A percepção da mulher acerca do vínculo paterno durante sua infância e adolescência e o apoio do pai do bebê no período gestacional destacam-se como fatores influentes para a vinculação materno-fetal, indicando a importância do envolvimento paterno ao longo do ciclo vital. São pontuadas implicações para a prática profissional, bem como limitações e recomendações de estudos futuros.

The Dicroidium flora, composed of different genera of fossil plants, has its first records dating back to the Permian, expanded significantly in diversity in the Triassic, occupying several regions of the Gondwanan territory, becoming a biostratigraphic landmark for the Triassic. In Brazil, this paleoflora is found in the sedimentary rocks of the Santa Maria region, state of Rio Grande do Sul, in locations close to the Passo das Tropas Creek, an informal type section of the Passo das Tropas Member, of the Santa Maria Formation. Pioneering studies on the subject in the region began in 1952, at the Passo das Tropas outcrop, which described the first records of the Dicroidium flora. Over the years, different outcrops were found in this region, which also revealed this paleoflora, such as: “Dom Antônio Reis” outcrop, “Zenir Aita” outcrop and “Espuma” outcrop, where several paleontological collections were carried out. In addition to plant fossils, fish scales and insect wings were recorded in these outcrops. However, these outcrops were totally or partially buried due to the urbanization process in the city of Santa Maria and its surroundings, making further studies impossible. This article presents a historical and stratigraphic review, compiling the work carried out in the last 70 years on the outcrops of the Passo das Tropas Member and presents a new fossil site, the outcrop called Estância dos Montes. A total of 125 specimens were recovered from the Estância dos Montes outcrop, belonging to Dicroidium odontopteroides, D. zuberi, D. lancifolium, Umkomasia sp., Pteruchus sp., Neocalamites sp. and seeds. The fossils presented in this work come from a paleontological rescue carried out at the Estância dos Montes outcrop and are currently deposited in the Paleontological Collection of the Laboratório de Estratigrafia e Paleobiologia of the Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Not only the importance of preserving and protecting fossil sites and their contents is highlighted, but also the uniqueness of these fossils for the valorization of the regional heritage of Santa Maria and the global relevance of adding more data to compress the biota during the Gondwanan Triassic.

Following the declaration of COVID-19 as a pandemic in February 2020, one of the most important public health impacts was the decrease in demand for screening mammography, with a consequent impact on the early diagnosis of breast cancer. Therefore, the aim of this study was to compare the initial clinical staging of women with breast cancer in the pre-pandemic and pandemic periods at a reference cancer hospital in southern Brazil. We performed a retrospective cross-sectional study with a database of surgical procedures on the female breast, comparing the years 2019 and 2020. A total of 1733 surgical procedures for diagnostic and curative purposes were evaluated. Among these patients, 491 (49.2 %) were diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019 and 335 (45.5 %) in 2020. We excluded 907 patients due to benign diagnoses, carcinoma in situ, recurrence, presence of metastases, missing data, and other findings. When comparing 2019 and 2020, we found no significant difference in clinical staging or tumor phenotype. The median time in days between mammography and first treatment was also similar in both years. However, we observed a higher frequency of lobular histologies and neoadjuvant therapy as first treatment choice in the pandemic year. In conclusion, there was no significant difference in clinical staging between women diagnosed with breast cancer before and during the pandemic.

Introduction: Approximately 30% of patients with hormone receptor-positive breast cancer show resistance to tamoxifen, which may result in local or distant recurrence. Based on previous evidence, it can be inferred that tamoxifen sensitivity is influenced by an oxidative genetic imbalance. Objective: To evaluate the association between the genotypes of SOD2 single-nucleotide polymorphisms and the risk of recurrence in patients with luminal breast cancer treated with adjuvant tamoxifen. Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study. Biopsy samples from tumors were used for Val16Ala-SNP real-time PCR genotyping. Other potential markers of apoptosis and proliferation were analyzed by immunohistochemistry. Survival was defined as follow-up of a minimum of 72 months and compared using Cox regression multivariate analysis adjusted for grade, clinical staging, and Bcl-2 and Ki67 markers. Results: 36% patients relapsed, 35% presented with histological grade 3, and 29% had clinical stage III. The frequencies of SOD2 were 35% Ala/Ala, 35% Val/Val, and 30% Ala/Val. Val-allele women tended to be more at risk for recurrence than others (RR = 2.14 (95% CI 0.84–5.47). Patients with the Val allele had a 15% reduction in relapse-free survival, whereas with Ala/Ala, this reduction was only 8%. The expression of Caspase-3 was low in patients with relapse (p = 0.008). Conclusion: This study emphasizes the importance of oxidative response in cancer cells during tamoxifen treatment. The presence of the Val allele showed a strong trend, which could be considered as a hypothesis generator.

Resumo Com o objetivo de compreender o fenômeno saúde mental no contexto de trabalho das Instituições de Ensino Superior, esta revisão sistemática da literatura analisou as publicações nacionais no período entre 2011 e 2021. O levantamento da produção acadêmica ocorreu nos Periódicos CAPES, SciELO, Portal Regional da Biblioteca Virtual em Saúde (BVS) e Pepsic. Apenas 35 artigos atenderam aos critérios de inclusão. Os assuntos mais abordados relacionados à saúde mental dos servidores no ambiente acadêmico são: produtividade e transtornos mentais comuns, sofrimento mental/adoecimento, outros transtornos mentais, síndrome de burnout, contexto de trabalho e saúde mental. Os achados apontam para um maior número de publicações no ano de 2020, concentrados em periódicos da área da saúde, estudos empíricos, quantitativos, realizados na grande maioria em instituições públicas de ensino, preferencialmente com docentes, com predominância na região sudeste do país. Há lacunas por região, tema e categoria profissional, o que requer maiores esforços de pesquisas na área para melhor compreender o tema.

The occurrence of paleo-wildfire events during the Campanian age of the Late Cretaceous is demonstrated in this study for the first time with deposits from the King George Island, South Shetland Islands, Antarctic Peninsula. With the aim of providing information that fills important paleoenvironmental and paleobiogeographic gaps about the end of the Cretaceous for the Gondwana, samples of macroscopic charcoal were collected at two different volcanic levels of the Price Point outcrop, King George Island, during the expeditions to the Antarctic Peninsula by the Brazilian Antarctic Program (PROANTAR). The samples of charcoal were treated and later analyzed under a stereomicroscope and scanning electron microscope. The analysis allowed the identification of morphoanatomical structures with potential taxonomic affinity with Podocarpaceae. These conifers were important in temperate forests of high-latitude environments during the Late Cretaceous, and this is in accordance with previous palaeobotanical records from Price Point. The analysis also showed that southern paleofloras were subject to the occurrence of paleo-wildfires much more frequently than previously thought. This indicates that fire and active volcanism were significant modifiers of the ecological niches of austral floras, because even in distal areas, the source of ignition for forest fires often came from contact with a hot volcanic ash cloud, where the vegetation was either totally or partially consumed by fire.

Summary: The signals controlling marginal zone (MZ) and follicular (FO) B cell development remain incompletely understood. Here, we show that AKT orchestrates MZ B cell formation in mice and humans. Genetic models that increase AKT signaling in B cells or abolish its impact on FoxO transcription factors highlight the AKT-FoxO axis as an on-off switch for MZ B cell formation in mice. In humans, splenic immunoglobulin (Ig) D+CD27+ B cells, proposed as an MZ B cell equivalent, display higher AKT signaling than naive IgD+CD27− and memory IgD−CD27+ B cells and develop in an AKT-dependent manner from their precursors in vitro, underlining the conservation of this developmental pathway. Consistently, CD148 is identified as a receptor indicative of the level of AKT signaling in B cells, expressed at a higher level in MZ B cells than FO B cells in mice as well as humans.

The development of the human immune system lasts for several years after birth. The impact of this maturation phase on the quality of adaptive immunity and the acquisition of immunological memory after infection at a young age remains incompletely defined. Here, using an antigen-reactive T cell (ARTE) assay and multidimensional flow cytometry, we profiled circulating severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)–reactive CD3+CD4+CD154+ T cells in children and adults before infection, during infection, and 11 months after infection, stratifying children into separate age groups and adults according to disease severity. During SARS-CoV-2 infection, children younger than 5 years old displayed a lower antiviral CD4+ T cell response, whereas children older than 5 years and adults with mild disease had, quantitatively and phenotypically, comparable virus-reactive CD4+ T cell responses. Adults with severe disease mounted a response characterized by higher frequencies of virus-reactive proinflammatory and cytotoxic T cells. After SARS-CoV-2 infection, preschool-age children not only maintained neutralizing SARS-CoV-2–reactive antibodies postinfection comparable to adults but also had phenotypically distinct memory T cells displaying high inflammatory features and properties associated with migration toward inflamed sites. Moreover, preschool-age children had markedly fewer circulating virus-reactive memory B cells compared with the other cohorts. Collectively, our results reveal unique facets of antiviral immunity in humans at a young age and indicate that the maturation of adaptive responses against SARS-CoV-2 toward an adult-like profile occurs in a progressive manner. Here, Manfroi et al. characterized the immune response to severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection in children. The authors found that preschool-age children had a different adaptive immune response, with a lower frequency of antiviral CD4+ T cells, compared with older children and adults; this younger cohort also developed phenotypically distinct memory T and B cell responses after recovery compared with the other cohorts. A recent European randomized trial – Tracheal Occlusion To Accelerate Lung Growth – demonstrated that fetoscopic endoluminal tracheal occlusion (FETO) is associated with increased postnatal survival among infants with severe congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). However, this differs in middle-income countries such as Brazil, where abortion is illegal and neonatal intensive care is inadequate. This study evaluated the effects of FETO on improving the survival of infants with moderate-to-severe CDH in isolated and non-isolated cases. This retrospective cohort study selected 49 fetuses with CDH, a normal karyotype, and a lung-to-head ratio (LHR) of <1 from a single national referral center for fetal surgery in São Paulo, Brazil, between January 2016 and November 2019. FETO was performed between 26 and 29 weeks of gestation. The primary outcomes were infant survival until discharge from the neonatal intensive care unit and survival until six months of age. Forty-six women with singleton fetuses having severe CDH underwent prenatal intervention with FETO. Infant survival rates until discharge and at six months of age were both 38 %. The observed-to-expected LHR increased by 25 % after FETO in neonates who survived until discharge. Spontaneous intrauterine death occurred in four growth-restricted fetuses after FETO. Preterm birth in <37 weeks and preterm rupture of membranes in <34 weeks occurred in 56.5 % (26) and 26 % (12) cases, respectively. Graft versus host disease (GVHD) is a major complication of allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Rabbit anti-T lymphocyte globulin (ATLG) in addition to calcineurin inhibitors and antimetabolites is a suitable strategy to prevent GVHD in several transplant settings. Randomized studies already demonstrated its efficacy in terms of GVHD prevention, although the effect on relapse remains the major concern for a wider use. Tailoring of ATLG dose on host characteristics is expected to minimize its side effects (immunological reconstitution, relapse, and infections). Here, day -6 to day +15 pharmacokinetics of active ATLG serum level was first assayed in an explorative cohort of 23 patients by testing the ability of the polyclonal serum to bind antigens on human leukocytes. Significantly lower levels of serum active ATLG were found in the patients who developed GVHD (ATLG_AUCCD45: 241.52 ± 152.16 vs. 766.63 +/- 283.52 (μg*day)/ml, p = 1.46e-5). Consistent results were obtained when the ATLG binding capacity was assessed on CD3+ and CD3+/CD4+ T lymphocytes (ATLG_AUCCD3: 335.83 ± 208.15 vs. 903.54 ± 378.78 (μg*day)/ml, p = 1.92e-4; ATLG_AUCCD4: 317.75 ± 170.70 vs. 910.54 ± 353.35 (μg*day)/ml, p = 3.78e-5. Concomitantly, at pre-infusion time points, increased concentrations of CD69+ extracellular vesicles (EVs) were found in patients who developed GVHD (mean fold 9.01 ± 1.33; p = 2.12e-5). Consistent results were obtained in a validation cohort of 12 additional ATLG-treated HSCT patients. Serum CD69+ EVs were mainly represented in the nano (i.e. 100 nm in diameter) EV compartment and expressed the leukocyte marker CD45, the EV markers CD9 and CD63, and CD103, a marker of tissue-resident memory T cells. The latter are expected to set up a host pro-inflammatory cell compartment that can survive in the recipient for years after conditioning regimen and contribute to GVHD pathogenesis. In summary, high levels of CD69+ EVs are significantly correlated with an increased risk of GVHD, and they may be proposed as a tool to tailor ATLG dose for personalized GVHD prevention.

Over the last few decades, numerous geological studies have been carried out in the South Shetland Islands, which have greatly contributed to a better understanding of its geological evolution. However, few attempts have been conducted to correlate the geological units throughout this archipelago. We present herein a review of the literature available in the South Shetland Islands, which we use to propose a lithostratigraphical correlation that constitutes a coherent stratigraphy for the main Mesozoic and Cenozoic rocks of the South Shetland Islands along with a new geological map. The lithostratigraphical correlation shows that the geological and environmental evolution comprises three main stages: 1) deep marine sedimentation from ∼164 to 140 Ma, 2) subaerial volcanism and sedimentation with a proliferation of plants and fauna from ∼140 to 35 Ma and 3) glacial and interglacial deposits from ∼35 Ma. The lithostratigraphical correlation also shows a broad geographical trend of decreasing age of volcanism from southwest to northeast, which has been previously suggested. However, this spatial age trend is disrupted by the presence of Eocene magmatism in Livingston Island, located in the centre of the archipelago. We suggest that the migration of volcanism occurred from the Late Cretaceous until the early Eocene. Subsequently, enhanced magmatic activity took place from the mid-Eocene until the Miocene, which we associate with processes related with the waning of subduction. Constraining the protolith age of the metamorphic complex of Smith Island remains challenging, yet holds key implications for the tectonic and accretionary evolution of the Antarctic Peninsula. The rocks recording the glaciation of this sector of Antarctica are well exposed in the northern South Shetland Islands and hold critical information for understanding the timings and processes that lead to the greenhouse to icehouse transition at the end of the Eocene. Finally, contemporaneous rocks to the breakup of Antarctic Peninsula from Patagonia that led to the opening of the Drake Passage and the development of the Scotia Sea are exposed in the centre and north of the South Shetland archipelago. Better constraints on the age and tectonic settings on these units may lead to further understanding the paleobiogeographical evolution of the region, which may have played an important role for speciation as a land bridge between South America and Antarctica. The dataset containing the geological map and associated information is shared as a shapefile or KML file.

Superficial siderosis (SS) of the nervous system is a rare acquired condition related to hemosiderin deposits in subpial layers of the brain, brainstem, cerebellum, cranial nerves, and spinal cord, leading to brain iron-mediated neurodegeneration. The cardinal neurological features are slowly progressive hearing loss, ataxia, and pyramidal signs. Here we describe an atypical case of infratentorial SS evolving with acute intracranial hypertension in the absence of typical chronic signs.

Objective The present study's objective was to investigate the pandemic's impact on mental health and identify variables that can increase or decrease the chances of stress, anxiety, and depression, in both a sample with and one without self-reported mental health issues, in a Brazilian population. Design a cross-sectional quantitative study. Data were collected online in May and June of 2020. Participated 1130 adults between 18–78 years old (mean = 37.46 years, SD = 12.18), from 20 Brazilian states, with an average of 58.61 days (SD = 23.2) of social distancing. Main Outcome Measures Depression, anxiety and stress symptoms, characterization of social distancing, and Coping strategies. Results A significantly higher prevalence of severe depression was found in those who practiced social distancing. Multinomial logistic regressions identified the explanatory model with risk and protection variables to mental health. For the group without a previous mental health diagnosis, using confrontation (OR = 1.39, CI95% 1.23–1.58) and escape strategies (OR = 1.48, CI95% 1.19–1.84) increases the odds of presenting severe depression, while positive reappraisal (OR = 0.85, IC95% 0.78–0.93) and problem-solving (OR = 0.75, CI95% 0.63-–0.88) were protective factors. In the group with mental disorders, using confrontation (OR = 1.33, CI95% 1.10–1.60) and escape strategies (OR = 1.49, CI95% 1.12–1.98) were also risk factors for severe depression and no coping protective factors were found. Conclusions Problem-solving and positive reappraisal were protective strategies that potentially reduced the odds of presenting depression and anxiety, but only in people without a previous mental health diagnosis. Public policies must offer psychological support to the most vulnerable, as well as orientation based on scientific evidence, aiming at improving quality of life.

Introdução: O suicídio constitui-se em uma das principais causas de morte evitáveis. A pandemia da COVID-19 pode contribuir para reforçar os fatores de risco e a ideação suicida em razão da diminuição da capacidade de enfrentamento emocional ante a crise sanitária mundial. Ao mesmo tempo, os serviços de Atenção Primária à Saúde (APS) foram demandados a construir uma resposta rápida a questões relacionadas à saúde mental. Objetivo: Refletir sobre os fatores de risco e as possíveis intervenções para a prevenção do suicídio na atenção primária no contexto da pandemia da COVID-19. Métodos: Trata-se de uma revisão integrativa pautada na construção de uma análise crítica da literatura internacional sobre os fatores de risco e a prevenção do suicídio na APS durante a pandemia do novo coronavírus. Esta revisão foi construída por meio do levantamento de evidências na literatura internacional, feito pelo acesso às bases de dados científicas Web of Science, Science Direct e Scopus usando os descritores suicide AND prevention AND COVID-19 AND Primary Health Care. Foram incluídos artigos científicos disponibilizados entre dezembro de 2019 e setembro de 2020 e publicados em português, inglês e espanhol. Resultados: O corpus de análise foi composto de 15 artigos, com predominância da descrição de fatores de risco, da implementação e das adaptações de estratégias de intervenções específicas mediadas por recursos de tecnologia da informação e comunicação para oferecer cuidados de saúde mental. Conclusões: Os cuidados colaborativos pautados pelos atributos essenciais da APS destacaram-se como estratégias prioritárias para ofertar cuidados contínuos e longitudinais no contexto da pandemia.
