Abstract

It has recently been demonstrated that black hole dynamics in a large number of dimensions $D$ reduces to the dynamics of a codimension one membrane propagating in flat space. In this paper we define a stress tensor and charge current on this membrane and explicitly determine these currents at low orders in the expansion in $\frac{1}{D}$. We demonstrate that dynamical membrane equations of motion derived in earlier work are simply conservation equations for our stress tensor and charge current. Through the paper we focus on solutions of the membrane equations which vary on a time scale of order unity. Even though the charge current and stress tensor are not parametrically small in such solutions, we show that the radiation sourced by the corresponding membrane currents is generically of order $\frac{1}{D^D}$. In this regime it follows that the `near horizon' membrane degrees of freedom are decoupled from asymptotic flat space at every perturbative order in the $\frac{1}{D}$ expansion. We also define an entropy current on the membrane and use the Hawking area theorem to demonstrate that the divergence of the entropy current is point wise non negative. Abstract

The mud crab business is being considered by most marketing operators to be a profitable and sustainable business due to the high demand in the international market. This study aims to determine value addition at different actors-based steps; primary data was collected from 100 respondents (40 collectors, 10 fatteners, 20 depot owners, 20 suppliers and 10 exporters) who were selected randomly from Khulna, Satkhira and Dhaka district. The mud crab analysis reveals that the value addition of the fatteners was the highest among all other intermediaries which was Tk. 11525 and Tk. 10665 per 100 kg of crab for the grade XXLPD in Khulna and Satkhira district respectively, whereas the lowest value addition was Tk. 1450 and Tk. 1090 per 100 kg of crab for grade KS3. The mentioned districts’ highest value addition by depot owners were Tk. 1191 and Tk. 1200 per 100 kg of crab for the grade FF1 respectively, while lowest value addition was Tk. 691 and Tk.750 per 100 kg of crab for the grade L and M, and by suppliers it was Tk. 2918 and 2758 per 100 kg of crab for the grade FF1. The range of value addition by exporters for Hong-Kong and Taiwan market was Tk. 260.25 to Tk. 13825 per 100 kg of crab. Value addition for exporting female crab to Taiwan market was greater than Hong-Kong market.

Abstract

Here we discuss various coastal and ocean science applications of the Earth Observation Satellite-04 (EOS04) mission by the Indian Space Research Organisation. Automated oil spill detection using EOS-04, Medium Resolution ScanSAR data is carried out that involves segmenting of dark regions and classification of oil spills from look-alikes using a rank based algorithm. Lagrangian forecasting model is then used to predict the oil spill track. Genetic algorithm is employed to convert backscatter from EOS-04 into Significant Wave Height and wave spectra. The wavelength and propagation direction of ocean internal solitary waves are estimated using EOS-04 data. High resolution data in Fine Resolution Stripmap mode is used to estimate coastal bathymetry based on wave shoaling effect. The unique ability of EOS-04, with a range of spatial resolutions and various modes of operation form an essential ocean observation dataset that enables the scientific community to improve the understanding of complex coastal ocean processes.
