Development of high‐yielding rice (Oryza sativa L.) is a crucial need for succeeding food security that needs the presence of great genetic variability to be used in breeding programs. Creating new variants through sodium azide mutagenesis can be a better alternative in advancing plant breeding issues. The generation and characterization of mutants represent an effective method for choosing genotypes with desired attributes. In this study, we focused on inducing mutations in the genetic base of a mega rice variety (BRRI dhan28) using sodium azide, evaluating the genetic diversity of the mutants, and identifying promising genotypes among the mutants using quantitative trait analysis and genetic criteria. The mutants exhibited substantial variation, as evidenced by descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. The estimated heritability and genetic advance indicated that nearly all traits had a high level of heritability and followed a complex pattern of inheritance. The strong correlations observed between grain yield and flag leaf length, branch panicle−1, grain panicle−1, 100‐grain weight, straw yield hill−1, and harvest index indicate that prioritizing these traits during selection could substantially improve other desirable characteristics. Additionally, we employed the principal component analysis which revealed that the first two components collectively accounted for 32.16% of the total variation, providing essential information about the genetic relatedness of the mutants. The Multitrait Genotype–Ideotype Distance Index (MGIDI) analysis revealed that out of 100 mutants, only eight exhibited noteworthy performance. These findings provide insights into the efficiency of azide in creating genetic variations in rice traits and offer valuable resources for future breeding programs aimed at developing high‐performing rice varieties. Informed consent to medical intervention is fundamental in both ethics and law. But in practice it is often not taken seriously in developing countries. This paper provides an appraisal of informed consent practices in Bangladesh. Following a review of the ethical and legal principles of informed consent, it assesses the degree to which doctors adhere to it in Bangladesh. Based on findings of non‐compliance, it then investigates the reasons for such non‐compliance through an appraisal of informed consent practices in Bangladesh and provides recommendations aimed at improving such practices. The significance of this paper lies in unveiling the interdependence between the ethical and legal traits of informed consent and their ramifications on strengthening the patient‐oriented approach of duty to care. Abstract Graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) of precise size and shape, critical for controlling electronic properties and future device applications, can be realized via precision synthesis on surfaces using rationally designed molecular precursors. Fluorine-bearing precursors have the potential to form GNRs on nonmetallic substrates suitable for device fabrication. Here, we investigate the deposition temperature-mediated growth of a new fluorine-bearing precursor, 6,11-diiodo-1,4-bis(2-fluorophenyl)-2,3-diphenyltriphenylene (C42H24F2I2), into helically shaped polymer intermediates and chevron-type GNRs on Au(111) by combining scanning tunneling microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and density functional theory simulations. The fluorinated precursors do not adsorb on the Au(111) surface at lower temperatures, necessitating an optimum substrate temperature to achieve maximum polymer and GNR lengths. We compare the adsorption behavior with that of pristine chevron precursors and discuss the effects of C-H and C-F bonds. The results elucidate the growth mechanism of GNRs with fluorine-bearing precursors and establish a foundation for future synthesis of GNRs on nonmetallic substrates.

Background: In general, reinfection means a person was infected (got sick) once, recovered, and then later became infected again. Based on what we know from similar viruses, some reinfections are expected. We are still learning more about COVID-19. Ongoing COVID-19 studies will help us to understand. The degree of protective immunity conferred by infection with severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is currently unknown. As such, the possibility of reinfection with SARS-CoV-2 is not well understood. Here we describe presentation and investigations of two instances of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the same individual. Methodology: A 38-year-old man who is a resident of Dhaka city, Engineer by profession presented to doctors on two occasions with symptoms of viral infection. First time at a community testing event in June, 2020, and a second time to Evercare hospital at the mid November, 2020. Nasopharyngeal swabs were obtained from the patient at each presentation and twice during follow-up. RT PCR testing was done to confirm SARS-CoV-2 infection. CXR P/A view was performed in 1st time of Covid infection & HRCT of chest was performed during his stay at Evercare hospitals Findings: The patient had two positive tests for SARS-CoV-2, the first on June 20th, 2020, and the second on November 18th 2020, separated by two negative tests done during follow-up in July, 2020. The second infection was symptomatically more severe than the first with remarkable radiological changes of Chest in high resolution CT scanning. Interpretation: Two subsequent negative RT PCR after 1st positive with clinically asymptomatic period after 2 weeks of mild symptoms was observed in our patient. About 5 months later he was Covid19 positive again with moderate symptoms. These findings suggest that the patient was infected by SARS-CoV-2 on two separate occasions probably by genetically distinct virus. Thus, previous exposure to SARS-CoV-2 might not guarantee total immunity in all cases. All individuals, whether previously diagnosed with COVID-19 or not, should take identical precautions to avoid infection with SARS-CoV-2. Different mechanisms of lung injury in COVID-19 have been described, like viral to immune-mediated mechanisms. Lung injury can be either subsequent to chronic inflammation or an idiopathic and genetically influenced process. Pulmonary fibrosis can occur with acute lung injury & a known sequela to ARDS. However, persistent radiological abnormalities after ARDS are of little clinical significance and have dwindled with protective lung ventilation. Pulmonary fibrosis is associated with permanent pulmonary architectural distortion and irreversible lung dysfunction. Available clinical, radiographic, and autopsy data has indicated that pulmonary fibrosis is central to severe acute respiratory distress syndrome (SARS) and MERS pathology, and current evidence suggests that pulmonary fibrosis could also complicate infection by SARS-CoV-2 The aim of this review is to explore the current literature on the pathogenesis of lung injury in COVID-19 infection, its risk factors & to find out the possible effective therapy within the existing medication. After literature review, we conclude that, currently there are no approved therapies for SARS COV2. Trials are based on drugs that are already approved for other diseases, have acceptable safety profiles or have been effective in animal studies against the other two highly pathogenic coronaviruses. Apart from the potent use of antivirals to reduce the viral effects, the use of antifibrotic therapies could also be under consideration based on the pulmonary fibrotic disease observed after COVID-19 recovery. Pirfenidone and Nintedanib are the two approved anti fibrotic drugs for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF). Background: Suicide is a leading cause of death worldwide. This is the first study in Bangladesh to find out the psychiatric morbidity profile and suicidal behavior. The study was aimed to delineate the types of suicidal behavior and the psychiatric morbidity profile, and sociodemographic status of patients. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was done in Depatrment of Psychiatry, Cumilla Medical College, Cumilla from October 2015 to March 2017. A total 120 patient aged 9 to 40 years who fulfilled the enrolment criteria included in the study. The Composite International Diagnostic Interview (CIDI) module was used to assess the suicidal behavior. DSM-5 was used to diagnose the psychiatric disorders. Semi structural questionnaire were used for collecting information about the risk factors for psychiatric morbidity and sociodemographic information. Result: Of 120 suicidal behavior patients' psychiatric disorders was 65%. Among suicidal behavior patients neurotic disorders was 19%, psychotic disorders was 15%, personality disorders was 39% and others disorder was 27%. Among 78 psychiatric patients borderline personality disorder was 25.64%, adjustment disorders were 15.38%, mood disorders were 11.53%, psychotic disorder was 7.69%, multiple personality disorder and oppositional defiant disorder were 6.42%, hystrionic personality disorder and substance use disorder were 3.84%, antisocial personality disorder, conduct disorder and anxiety disorder were 2.57%, and composite disorder was 11.53%. Among suicidal behavior in psychiatric patients suicidal ideation was 54, suicidal plan was 13, suicidal attempt was 45, ideators only proceeded to plan was 17, ideation to attempt was 59. Among suicidal behavior in total 120 participants suicidal ideation was 84, suicidal plan was 19, suicidal attempt was 56, ideators only proceeded to plan was 26, ideation to attempt was 76, planned attempt was 14 and impulsive attempt was 62. Most of the suicidal behavior participants were female (77.5%) and age group of <24 years (60%). Conclusions: Psychiatric disorders are important risk factors for the onset and persistence of suicidal behaviour, with this risk being the greatest in childhood, and early adult.
