Abstract

Research impact librarianship is an area within the profession that continues to grow out of need for dedicated expertise of bibliometrics and other various assessment measures. There are numerous methods of creating or re-imagining research impact services. As is common practice within librarianship, sharing experiences and best practices for service provision, especially burgeoning services, is invaluable and informs other professionals about successes they can potentially adapt into their plans for doing similar work. The Libraries at the University of Houston is in the midst of creating a research visibility and impact program born out of an initiative to elevate the university's level of prestige and impact by developing personnel, programs, and practices to support research visibility and impact across the institution. Abstract

This article discusses a case of B-acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) in a pediatric patient and the discovery of a novel fusion gene called TCF3::PIK3R1. The fusion gene was found to be associated with decreased PI3K-AKT signaling activity, which is normally linked to chemoresistance in leukemia. The study conducted experiments to confirm the presence of the fusion gene and investigate its biological effects. Abstract

This article discusses the impact of TLX3 gene expression in pediatric T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T-ALL). TLX3 is a gene that is expressed in a subset of pediatric T-ALL cases. Previous studies have had conflicting results on the significance of TLX3 expression, but this study suggests that the use of measurable residual disease (MRD) stratification can mitigate its prognostic impact. The study also found that TLX3 rearrangement patients had a higher occurrence of refractory disease and a higher percentage of hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT), but there were no significant differences in survival rates compared to patients without TLX3 rearrangement. Abstract

This letter to the editor published in the journal Leukemia & Lymphoma discusses a study conducted on pediatric patients in Ireland with a specific genetic alteration called intrachromosomal amplification of chromosome 21 (iAMP21) in B acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL). The study found that patients with iAMP21 benefited from more intensive chemotherapy and that minimal residual disease (MRD) was a reliable predictor of outcome. The study also provides detailed clinical and biological characteristics of the Irish pediatric iAMP21 B-ALL cohort. Abstract

On June 25, 2013, President Obama announced a national “Climate Action Plan” (CAP) to reduce emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, as well as to encourage adaptation to expected climate change. One of the more significant initiatives within the CAP focused on the control of methane emissions, a potent short-lived climate pollutant. It called for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Departments of Agriculture, Energy, Interior, Labor, and Transportation to develop a comprehensive interagency “Strategy to Reduce Methane Emissions” (Strategy). The Strategy commits to new steps to cut emissions through both voluntary actions and proposed rulemaking, and outlines the Administration's efforts to improve the measurement and assessment of these emissions. This book's objective is to discuss emission sources of methane, and to examine strategies of reducing greenhouse gases.

Abstract

Summary Early‐phase trials of venetoclax in children and teenagers/young adults with leukaemia have yielded promising results, but there remains a paucity of real‐world data. To address this, we report a cohort of 41 children treated with venetoclax for a range of haematological malignancies, demonstrating complete remission in 43.6%, with most achieving minimal residual disease (MRD) negativity. Venetoclax was particularly effective as a bridge to transplant, with bridging successful in 75% of patients. Patients with MRD <1% at initiation of venetoclax were more likely to achieve MRD negativity (81.8% vs. 34.5%, p = 0.007) and had improved overall survival (54.5% vs. 17.9%, p = 0.004). Abstract

The article features the training infrastructure at Fort Huachuca, Arizona for the 309th Military Intelligence Battalion. The infrastructure includes student housing, multi-purpose classrooms, and field training exercise Tactical Operation Centers for course Capstone exercises. To complete the connectivity between these sites, an aerial installation of fiber optic cable was installed from the microwave radio site to an operations building located inside Site Uniform.
