Body mapping is an arts-based research technique that uses a life-sized outline of the participant's body and symbols that visually represent their lived experiences. In this article, we describe the methods of body mapping and analytic techniques used in a research inquiry exploring how child abuse influenced the embodied processes in anorexia. We aim to contribute to methodological research practice in anorexia using a method that can potentially add value in other areas of ED research or be adapted for treatment settings. Our research findings suggest that body mapping can add value to the interview method and extend the range of methods for researchers interested in interrogating the hard-to-reach subjective embodied processes. The planning and management of water in the river basins require the identification of places where the quality of groundwater is being threatened. The risk of launching the accumulated pollutants present in the solid phase of the soil may be caused by both the changes in the pressure gradients in the aquifers and the changes in the hydrogeochemical balances. In the example of the Ner river valley, into which wastewater from the Łódź agglomeration has been discharged, the factors threatening the chemical status of groundwater were determined. This assessment was carried out based on the results of the determination of the hydrodynamic balance disturbances in the Upper Cretaceous formations, model studies of groundwater flow and hydrogeochemical studies conducted on the sorption complex of the Ner alluvium as well as the chemistry of the river water, alluvial water and groundwater. The results showed that the river water is heavily anthropogenically transformed. Model studies have shown that when the Ignacew -intake wells are pumped collectively, the inflow takes place through the Ner valley, where the hydrogeological window between the Quaternary and the Upper Cretaceous aquifers is found. The withdrawal by the Ignacew intakes may result in the reversal of piezometric pressures in the valley, which creates the possibility of the infiltration of polluted surface water into groundwater. Observations indicate the need to take into account the zones where surface water and water from the river alluvium are a real threat to the chemical status of the aquifers. These aspects are important when determining the protection zones and in renewable and disposal resource assessments of the Main Groundwater Reservoirs.

As of November 14, 22 Americans have developed anthrax caused by a bioterrorist attack following the attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon on September 11, 2001. Affected persons lived in Florida, New York, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.

Five palladium(II) complexes with pyridine derivative ligands have been synthesized. The molecular structures of the complexes were determined by X-ray crystallography, and their spectroscopic properties were studied. Based on the crystal structures, computational investigations were carried out in order to determine the electronic structures of the complexes. The electronic spectra were calculated with the use of time-dependent DFT methods, and the electronic spectra of the transitions were correlated with the molecular orbitals of the complexes. The synthesis and physical properties of a liquid-crystalline material exhibiting the ferrielectric C γ *-phase in a broad temperature range are described. The contradictory literature data on this substance are critically reviewed. Dielectric, optical, electrooptic, calorimetric and miscibility studies allowed us to verify the existing data and to establish the complicated phase sequence of the studied substance. The substance possesses many phases specific for materials called antiferroelectric without having the classical antiferroelectric C a *-phase. The range of existence of the ferrielectric C γ *-phase is very broad (about 20°C). This feature can be useful in structural investigations of the C γ * phase. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Interior of Svalbard, High Arctic, is relatively arid and warm during the summer, but impact of this quasi−continental climate type on the glacio−meteorology, surface energy balance and melt processes has been seldom researched. This study brings new data from a weather station located on the largest glacier in Dickson Land, Ebbabreen, at 550 m a.s.l from July and August 2008-2010. The paper discusses air temperature and moisture, wind speed, incoming shortwave radiation and estimates of turbulent heat exchange of the melting surface in the background of atmospheric circulation over Svalbard. The results have shown that average insolation in the study area was low with ca. 135Wm−2. Frequent occurrence of strongly negative temperature gradients resulted in mean July-August air temperature of 1.9°C at the measuring site. Relatively low air vapour pressure led to negative latent heat flux, particularly during advection of air masses from the northern and north−eastern sector. The local microclimate supports the sensible heat transfer, which reached its maxi− mum during eastern circulation situations.
