Tidiga och samordnade insatser (TSI) för barn och unga i risk för psykisk ohälsa genom samverkansmodellen HLT (förskola, hälso- och sjukvård och socialtjänst) kan bidra till en mer jämlik framtida hälsa, men implementeringen behöver studeras i olika kontexter och för olika målgrupper för att utvärderas och utvecklas. Syfte: Syftet var att processutvärdera implementeringen av samverkansprojektet HLT i Sollefteå kommun med fokus på framgångsfaktorer och hinder, utifrån ett landsbygdsperspektiv. Metod: Kvalitativ fallstudiedesign där tre fokusgruppdiskussioner och enkätundersökningar genomfördes med fyra olika målgrupper; förskole-team, skol-team, styrgrupp och ledningsgrupp, mellan oktober 2022 och april 2023. Fokusgrupp-diskussionerna spelades in och transkriberades, och analyserades med kvalitativ innehållsanalys. Resultat: Projektorganisationens förförståelse om vad HLT innebär, visade på mognad i de olika verksamheterna. Alla deltagare ansåg att målet med HLT-implementeringen var att uppnå en god samverkan, vilket alla, på olika sätt, uttryckte att de hade uppnått. Framgångsfaktorerna handlade om själva strukturen i HLT-modellen, stödet från ledningen, flexibla mötesformer och personkännedom som underlättade i en landsbygdskontext. Utmaningarna handlade om de långa avstånden och svårigheter med att rekrytera personal, vilket påverkar jämlikhetsaspekter (vilka som kan erbjudas HLT-samverkan, och innehållet i det stöd som HLT-samverkan kan erbjuda). För den fortsatta implementeringen behöver en plan utvecklas för hur nya teammedlemmar rekryteras och introduceras i HLT-arbetet och ett målarbete behöver startas där gemensamt uppsatta mål kan mätas och följas över tid (effekt-, resultat och processmått). Fortsatt stöd behövs från ledningen, och en projektledare som kan vara länken mellan de olika teamen, och mellan ledningen och teamen. This study aimed to investigate factors associated with exposure to violence over the past 12 months among women seeking abortion. Materials and methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study, nested within a multi-center questionnaire survey, involving 623 abortion-seeking women in Sweden from January to June 2021. Descriptive statistics, bivariate analyses, and multivariate regression analysis (using odds ratios [OR] and 95% confidence intervals [CI]) were employed. Results: Out of the 623 women, 9.9% (n = 59) reported exposure to physical, psychological, and/or sexual violence in the past 12 months. Several factors were correlated with being a victim of violence. However, after adjustment in the regression model, the significant factors included: age 16–26 (OR 2.37, 95% CI; 1.24–4.52, p <.009), poor physical and mental well-being prior to pregnancy (OR 3.29; CI 1.69–6.40, p <.001), having had ≥ 2 previous abortions (OR 2.27, 95% CI; 1.16–4.44, p =.017), and being single (OR 4.70, 95% CI; 2.51–8.77, p <.001). Conclusion: Nearly one in ten women seeking abortion reported exposure to violence in the preceding year. Being young, having poor physical and mental health, undergoing multiple abortions, and singlehood emerge as risk factors for violence exposure. Abortion providers have a crucial role and should consistently identify women exposed to violence, offering them the necessary guidance and referrals for further support.

The aim of this qualitative study was to explore desired ways to deliver comprehensive sexuality education (CSE) and topics, among secondary school students in a low-resource setting in Western Kenya. One school (n = 440) has received 8–9-h CSE intervention, while the other school (n = 496) served as a control. After one-year follow-up the students were asked (one open-ended question) to suggest desired topics of CSE, with a response rate of 93% (n = 867). The following topics were suggested by the students: abortion, contraception, sexual rights, abstinence and STI/HIV, and preferred CSE delivery means were school-based teaching, online resources and social media, community-based elements or trusted individuals. The students who had not received the intervention were more in favor of an abstinence-only approach and demonstrated more negative attitudes toward abortion.

Introduction In spite of societal efforts to strengthen women's sexual and reproductive health in Sweden, many women have unmet contraceptive needs and the abortion rate remains high. The aim of this study was to investigate contraceptive use among abortion-seeking women. Material and methods Swedish-speaking women seeking an induced abortion up to the end of gestational week 12 at seven hospitals filled out an anonymous paper questionnaire between January and June 2021. Data were analyzed using frequencies and cross-tabulations, and the Chi-square test was used to compare age-groups. Valid percentages are presented. Results In total, 623 women participated. Median age was 29 years and 13% were born outside the Nordic countries. In the year preceding the abortion, condoms (37%, n = 228) were the most commonly used contraceptive method, followed by short-acting reversible contraception (SARC) (35%, n = 213) and withdrawal (25%, n = 152). Around one in five (n = 113) had not used any method in the year preceding the abortion. Sixteen percent (n = 96) had changed contraceptive method in the last year. At the time around conception, 15% (n = 90) reported use of SARC and 2% (n = 12) of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC). Four out of 10 women (n = 268) reported non-use of contraception at the time around conception, with a higher proportion among adolescents (70%, n = 30, P = 0.001). Among the women who responded to why they had not used any method (n = 387), the main reasons were that they did not believe they could become pregnant at that time (37%, n = 144) or had negative experiences from using contraceptives (32%, n = 123). A majority (88%, n = 527) planned to use contraception after the abortion. Of the women who had decided on method, 55% (n = 271) planned to use LARC, and 38% (n = 188) planned to use SARC. Objectives: To investigate factors associated with multiple induced abortions. Materials and methods: A multi-centre cross-sectional survey among abortion-seeking women (n?=?623;14-47y) in Sweden, 2021. ?Multiple abortions? was defined as having had ≥2 induced abortions. This group was compared to women with a previous experience of 0-1 induced abortion. Regression analysis was conducted to determine independent factors associated with multiple abortions. Results: 67.4% (n?=?420) reported previous experience of 0-1 abortion, and 25.8% (n?=?161) ≥2 abortions (42 women chose to not respond). Several factors were associated with multiple abortions, but when adjusted in the regression model, the following factors remained; parity ≥1 (OR = 2.96, 95%CI [1.63, 5.39]), low education (OR = 2.40, 95%CI [1.40, 4.09]), tobacco use (OR = 2.50, 95%CI [1.54, 4.07]) and exposure to violence over the last year (OR = 2.37, 95%CI [1.06, 5.29]). More women in the group who had 0-1 abortion (n?=?109/420) believed they could not become pregnant at the time of conception, compared to women who had ≥2 abortions (n?=?27/161), p=.038. Mood swings, as a contraceptive side-effect, were more often reported among women with ≥2 abortions (n?=?65/161), compared to those with 0-1 abortion (n?=?131/420), p=.034. Conclusion: Multiple abortions is associated with vulnerability. Sweden provides high quality and accessible comprehensive abortion care; however, counselling must be improved both to achieve contraceptive adherence and identify and address domestic violence.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate women's decision-making on induced abortion. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A multi-centre cross-sectional survey among 623 abortion-seeking women in Sweden (2021). The perceived difficulty to decide on abortion was measured using a 7-point Likert scale, and analysed with univariate and multivariate analysis (odds ratios [OR], 95% confidence intervals [CI]). RESULTS: About half (n = 322;52%) scored 1-4, suggesting the decision was perceived as easier compared to those (n = 292;48%) who scored 5-7. Reasons for the abortion were: poor economy (n = 166;27%), too early in the relationship (n = 154;25.1%), want to work first (n = 147;23.9%), want to study first (n = 132;21.5%), uncertain about the relationship (104;16.9%), and too young (n = 104;16.9%). Predictors for perceiving the decision as difficult: partner's hesitance (OR = 3.18, CI:1.76-5.73), being born outside the Nordic countries (OR = 2.23, CI:1.28-3.87), having discussed the decision with someone (OR = 2.42, CI:1.67-3.50), age ≥30 (OR = 2.22, CI:1.03-4.76), the Covid-19 pandemic (OR = 2.08, CI:1.20-3.59), and the desire to have children in the future (OR = 1.96, CI:1.18-3.28). After confirmed pregnancy, poor mental well-being was more common among those who scored 5-7 (n = 140;47.9%) compared to those who scored 1-4 (n = 122;37.9), p = .029. CONCLUSION: Women's decision-making on abortion is complex; in times of crises, the decision procedure may be even more difficult. This valuable knowledge could be used to improve and promote satisfactory counselling beyond medical routines.

This study assessed the effectiveness of a school-based stigma-reduction intervention focusing on stigmatising attitudes towards girls associated with abortion and contraceptive use. In February 2017, two gender-mixed secondary schools (n?=?1368) in peri-urban areas of Kisumu County, Kenya, were assigned to receive either an 8-hour stigma-reduction intervention over four sessions (intervention school: IS) or standard comprehensive sexuality education (control school: CS). A classroom survey entailing two five-point Likert scales ? the 18-item Adolescents Stigmatizing Attitudes, Beliefs and Actions (ASABA) scale, which measures abortion stigma, and the seven-item Contraceptive Use Stigma (CUS) scale ? was conducted to collect data at baseline, 1-month and 12-months after the intervention. The intervention was to be considered effective if a mean score reduction of 25% was achieved for both the ASABA (primary outcome) and the CUS (secondary outcome) at the IS between baseline and 12-month follow-up. 1207 (IS?=?574; CS?=?633) students were included in analyses at 1-month follow-up, and 693 (IS?=?323; CS?=?370) at 12-months (the final-year students had left school). A decrease in mean score on both scales was observed at 1-month at both schools. At 12-months, the score decrease was 30.1% at the IS and 9.0% at the CS for ASABA, and 27.3% at the IS and 7.9% at the CS for CUS. At the IS, the score decrease for ASABA between baseline and 12-months was 23.3% among girls and 31.2% among boys; for CUS, the decrease was 27.3% and 24.3%, respectively. OBJECTIVES: Comprehensive sexual education plays an essential role in adolescent sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). The study aim was to investigate Kenyan secondary school teachers' attitudes toward girls associated with contraceptive use and abortion. STUDY DESIGN: We conducted a cross-sectional study in January 2018 among school teachers (n = 144) at 4 religiously affiliated suburban secondary schools in Kenya and used 2 validated Likert Scales (1-5) to capture contraception and abortion stigma. RESULTS: Overall, 122 teachers responded (85%) (females, 57%; males 43%; age, 21-70 years [mean, 36]). Respondents associated contraceptive use with a promiscuous lifestyle (43%) that will encourage peers to do the same (51%). Respondents indicated that married women were more deserving of contraception than unmarried women (57%), a girl could not herself decide to use contraceptives (50%), and contraceptive use could impair future fertility (57%). Abortion was considered a sin (74%), shameful for the family (48%), a habit (34%), and a behavior that might encourage peers to do the same (51%). Many believed an abortion will lead to worse health (73%). Male and female teachers gave similarly distributed responses. Younger teachers were more likely to find abortion shameful (<29, 64%; 30-39, 39%; ≥40, 39%; p = 0.046). Contraception stigma and abortion stigma were highly correlated (r = 0.355, p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS: Stigmatizing attitudes associated with contraceptive use and/or abortion were common among teachers in Western Kenya. IMPLICATIONS: Stigma may hinder the sexual and reproductive health and rights of students. Contraceptive use and abortion stigma need to be addressed in teacher education to ultimately improve health outcomes among adolescents.

OBJECTIVE: The overarching goal of the Swedish public health policy is to create the right societal conditions for good and equitable health throughout the population and to reduce avoidable health inequalities within a generation. The objective of this article is to highlight the main findings of the Open Comparisons in Public Health (OCPH) 2019 study. STUDY DESIGN: The OCPH is a longitudinal indicator-based comparative study, encompassing 39 public health indicators with results from Sweden's 21 regions and 290 municipalities. METHODS: Descriptive statistics and 95% confidence intervals were used to compare results between municipalities, regions and time points. Correlation analysis was used to study the strength of the relationship between the results of municipalities and their socio-economic conditions. RESULTS: Across the population, levels of health are good and have, in some areas, improved over recent decades. However, some significant health disparities remain according to neighbourhood, sex, age and educational background. Health disparities related to the level of education are often larger than those between women and men, and there are larger differences within a region than between regions. Health disparities have, in some cases, increased, such as for life expectancy. CONCLUSION: If health equity is to be achieved, leaders at all levels must collaborate and advocate for political action and local efficient public health interventions to eliminate health disparities as a result of neighbourhood and social conditions.

AIM: The aim was to explore contraceptive uptake, associated factors and satisfaction among post abortion-care (PAC) seeking women in Kenya. Due to unsafe abortions, almost 120 000 Kenyan women received PAC in 2012, and of these women, 70% did not use contraception before pregnancy. METHODS: This study was nested in a larger randomised controlled trial, where 859 women sought PAC at two public hospitals in Kisumu, in June 2013-May 2016. The women were randomly assigned to a midwife or a physician for PAC, including contraceptive counselling, and followed up at 7-10 days and three months. Associated factors for contraceptive uptake were analysed with binary logistic regression, and contraceptive method choice, adherence and satisfaction level were examined by descriptive statistics, using IBM SPSS Statistics for Windows, Version 22.0. RESULTS: Out of the 810 PAC-seeking women, 76% (n = 609) accepted the use of contraception. Age groups of 21-25 (OR: 2.35; p < 0.029) and 26-30 (OR: 2.22; p < 0.038), and previous experience of 1-2 gravidities (OR 1.939; p = 0.018) were independent factors associated with the up-take. Methods used: injections 39% (n = 236); pills 27% (n = 166); condoms 25% (n = 151); implant 7% (n = 45) and intrauterine device (IUD) 1% (n = 8). At 3-month follow-up of the women (470/609; 77%), 354 (75%) women still used contraception, and most (n = 332; 94%) were satisfied with the method. Reasons for discontinuation were side-effects (n = 44; 39%), partner refusal (n = 27; 24%), planned pregnancy (n = 27; 24%) and lack of resupplies (n = 15; 13%). CONCLUSIONS: PAC-seeking women seem highly motivated to use contraceptives, yet a quarter decline the use, and at 3-month follow-up a further quarter among the users had discontinued. Universal access to comprehensive abortion care (CAC) is a reproductive right and is essential to reduce preventable maternal mortality and morbidity. In East Africa, abortion rates are consistently high, and the vast majority of all abortions are unsafe, significantly contributing to unnecessary mortality and morbidity. The current debate article reflects and summarises key action points required to continue to speed the implementation of and expand access to CAC in the East, Central, and Southern African (ECSA) health community. To ensure universal access to quality CAC, a regional platform could facilitate the sharing of best practices and successful examples from the region, which would help to visualise opportunities. Such a platform could also identify innovative ways to secure women's access to quality care within legally restrictive environments and would provide information and capacity building through the sharing of recent scientific evidence, guidelines, and training programmes aimed at increasing women's access to CAC at the lowest effective level in the healthcare system. This type of infrastructure for exchanging information and developing co-creation could be crucial to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 agenda.

Objective To assess the effectiveness of midwives administering misoprostol to women with incomplete abortion seeking post-abortion care (PAC), compared with physicians. Design A multicentre randomised controlled equivalence trial. The study was not masked. Settings Gynaecological departments in two hospitals in a low-resource setting, Kenya. Population Women (n=1094) with incomplete abortion in the first trimester, seeking PAC between 1 June 2013 to 31 May 2016. Participants were randomly assigned to receive treatment from midwives or physicians. 409 and 401 women in the midwife and physician groups, respectively, were included in the per-protocol analysis. Interventions 600 mu g misoprostol orally, and contraceptive counselling by a physician or midwife. Main outcome measures Complete abortion not needing surgical intervention within 7-10 days. The main outcome was analysed on the per-protocol population with a generalised estimating equation model. The predefined equivalence range was -4% to 4%. Secondary outcomes were analysed descriptively. Results The proportion of complete abortion was 94.8% (768/810): 390 (95.4%) in the midwife group and 378 (94.3%) in the physician group. The proportion of incomplete abortion was 5.2% (42/810), similarly distributed between midwives and physicians. The model-based risk difference for midwives versus physicians was 1.0% (-4.1 to 2.2). Most women felt safe (97%; 779/799), and 93% (748/801) perceived the treatment as expected/easier than expected. After contraceptive counselling the uptake of a contraceptive method after 7-10 days occurred in 76% (613/810). No serious adverse events were recorded. Conclusions Treatment of incomplete abortion with misoprostol provided by midwives is equally effective, safe and accepted by women as when administered by physicians in a low-resource setting. Systematically provided contraceptive counselling in PAC is effective to mitigate unmet need for contraception.

Objective: To investigate the prevalence of existential experiences and needs among women involved in induced abortion. Methods: A questionnaire was used to collect information from 499 women requesting an induced abortion. A principle component analysis resulted in three components of existential experiences and needs, labelled: existential thoughts, existential practices, and humanisation of foetus. These components were analysed in relation to background data and other data from the questionnaire. Results: Existential experiences and needs were common. Existential thoughts about life and death, meaning and morality were related to abortion experience for 61% of women. Almost 50% of women, reported a need for special acts in relation to the abortion; and, 67% of women considered the pregnancy in terms of a child. A higher degree of existential components correlated to difficulty in making the abortion decision and poor psychological wellbeing after the abortion. Conclusion: Women’s experiences of abortion can include existential thoughts about life, death, meaning and morality, feelings of connectedness to the foetus, and the need for symbolic expression. This presents a challenge for abortion personnel, as the situation involves complex aspects beyond medical procedures and routines.

Background: In public health efforts, knowledge about risk-groups is important for creating societal conditions to ensure good health on equal terms. Aim: To investigate differences in lifestyle and perceived health among 15-year-old teenagers with experience of sexual intercourse (self-defined) and same-aged teenagers without experience of sexual intercourse. Methods: A two-cluster questionnaire study among 15-year-old Swedish students (n = 2170) in 2009/10. Chi-squared test was used to identify differences between three groups: teenagers who had not had sexual intercourse; teenagers who had had sexual intercourse at age of 14 or younger; and teenagers who had had intercourse at an age of 15. Results: Thirty-two per cent (n = 334) of girls and 31% (n = 324) of boys had had sexual intercourse. Teenagers with experience of sexual intercourse at 15 years or younger used more tobacco, alcohol and illicit drugs than same-aged teenagers without intercourse experience did. Furthermore, teenagers with experience of intercourse, especially those with a debut at 14 year or younger, had less positive school experiences, more involvement in injuries and physical violence, were less (girls) and more (boys) physically active, and perceived a poorer health than teenagers without intercourse experience. Conclusion: Sexual intercourse at the age of 15 or younger is an indicator for a hazardous lifestyle and problematic life situation.

Objectives To investigate satisfaction with abortion care among women and their male partners, and to identify factors associated with high overall contentment with the care received. Methods A multi-centre cross-sectional questionnaire survey conducted in 2009 among 798 Swedish abortion-seeking women and 590 male partners was analysed with logistic regression. Results Overall care satisfaction was rated high by two-thirds (74%) of the women and half (52%) of the men. For women, factors associated with high overall satisfaction with care were: to be well treated by the health care staff (Odds Ratio [OR] = 11.78), sufficient pain relief (OR = 3.87), adequate information about the gynaecological examination (OR = 2.25), suitable contraceptive counselling (OR = 2.23), and ease of access to the clinic by phone (OR = 1.91). For men, the factors were to be well treated by the health care staff (OR = 5.32), and adequate information about the abortion procedure (OR = 2.64). Conclusion Most women and half of the men were pleased with the attention they had received, but one in four women and half the men were not, or not completely, suggesting improvement is needed, especially with regard to men. For both women and men the human aspect of the care, namely, the consideration showed by the attending staff, appears to be the most important factor associated with satisfaction regarding abortion care.

Women and men’s experiences and needs in relation to induced abortion, and their views on the prevention of unintended pregnancies were explored through questionnaire studies at 10 and13 Swedish women’s clinics (Papers I–IV). Among 798 women in age range 14 – 49, 35% had experience of at least one previous abortion, and in the age range 20 – 49, 41%. The risk factors for repeat abortion were having children (Odds Ratio [OR] = 2.57), lack of emotional support (OR 2.09), unemployment or sick leave (OR 1.65), tobacco use (OR 1.56), and low educational level (OR 1.5). Among 590 men in age range 16 – 63, 32% had been involved in at least one previous abortion. The risk factors were, being a victim of violence or abuse (OR 2.62), unemployment or sick leave (OR 2.58), and having children (OR 2.0). Tobacco use was common, among both women (33%) and men (50%), and among those with repeat abortion 41% and 57%, respectively. Some considered societal efforts important for prevention, (Paper I–II). Overall care-satisfaction (Paper III) was high (74% of women and 52% of men). For women, factors associated with high care-satisfaction were being well treated by the staff (OR 11.78), sufficient pain relief (OR 3.87), adequate information about the gynaecological examination (OR 2.25), suitable contraceptive counselling (OR 2.23), and accessibility to the clinic by phone (OR 1.91). For men, the factors were being well treated by the staff (OR 5.32) and adequate information about the abortion procedure (2.64). Existential experiences and needs related to abortion were investigated among 499 women. Three components were identified (Paper IV): existential thoughts (61% of women), existential practices (48%), and humanisation of the foetus (67%). A higher presence of existential components correlated with difficulty in deciding to abort and poor psychological wellbeing after the abortion. Socialstyrelsens register ger endast information om; vilken vecka aborten avslutas i, abortmetod (medicinsk/ kirurgisk), kvinnans ålder, kommuntillhörighet, antal barn och tidigare aborter. Det innebär att det finns begränsad möjlighet att undersöka eventuella skillnader mellan olika grupper. En relativt hög andel (40%) av de abortsökande kvinnorna har erfarenhet av att ha gjort minst en tidigare abort, men kunskap om den gruppen är begränsad. Det övergripande syftet med den här avhandlingen var att undersöka kvinnors och mäns upplevelser och behov i samband med en abort och deras syn på förebyggande insatser. Kvantitativa och kvalitativa metoder har använts i de olika delarbetena (I– V) samt teoretiska modeller som utgår från folkhälso- och omvårdnadsperspektiv. Samtliga studier är godkända av den regionala etikprövningsnämnden i Uppsala. Delarbete I–IV bygger på resultat från en multicenter studie som genomfördes 2009, där 10 och 13 svenska kvinnokliniker deltagit. Syftet med delstudie I och II var att undersöka riskfaktorer för upprepad abort bland kvinnor och män. Två enkäter (kvinna/man) delades ut på kliniken i samband med att kvinnorna sökte för abort. Enkäten besvarades av 798 kvinnor efter genomgången abort. Männen som var involverade i graviditeten blev tillfrågade att delta i studien av kvinnorna och 590 män besvarade enkäten. Separata frankerade kuvert bifogades, vilket möjliggjorde att kvinnorna och männen kunde besvara enkäten oberoende av varandra. Background: Almost 40% of all induced abortions in Sweden are repeat abortions; little is known about the risk factors. Objective: To investigate differences between women who had a first-time abortion and those with repeat abortion, and to identify factors associated with repeat abortion. Methods: A questionnaire was answered by 798 abortion-seeking women in Sweden during 2009. A regression model was used to assess risk factors for repeat abortions. Results: In the age range 20-49 years, 41% of women had experienced at least one previous abortion. Risk factors for repeat abortion were parity (OR 2.57), lack of emotional support (OR 2.09), unemployment or sick leave (OR 1.65), tobacco use (OR 1.56), and low educational level (OR 1.5). Some women (n = 55) considered economic support and work opportunities could have enabled them to continue the pregnancy. Increased Sex and Relationship Education (SRE), easy access to high-quality contraception and counselling, were suggested (n = 86) as interventions for preventing unintended pregnancies. Conclusions: Even in a country with long established SRE and a public health policy to enhance sexual and reproductive health over a third of women requesting abortion have experienced one previously and the rate is maintained. Some specific factors are identified but, overall, a picture of vulnerability among women seeking repeat abortion stands out that needs to be considered in the prevention of unintended pregnancies.

OBJECTIVES: To investigate young male students' behaviour, knowledge, attitudes, and needs related to sexual and reproductive health (SRH). Differences between students on vocational and academic study programmes were also investigated. METHOD: A questionnaire consisting of 87 multiple choice questions was distributed to 253 male students attending three upper secondary schools in a single Swedish county. RESULTS: A response rate of 76% (n = 192) was achieved. Vocational students displayed more risk behaviour than those in academic study programmes regarding use of tobacco and sexual behaviour. Eighteen percent of those who were sexually experienced had suggested or provided the emergency contraception pill (ECP) to a girl. Insufficient knowledge of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) was identified, especially among the vocational students. No one reported the upper secondary school as their main source of knowledge and both groups requested more information about both genders' reproductive systems, and STIs. Some discriminatory attitudes regarding gender equality in SRH matters were identified. Both groups stated that male-friendly Youth Health Clinics (YHCs), easier access to condoms and Internet-service for Chlamydia test are important. CONCLUSIONS: Improvements in the quality and quantity of sex education in upper secondary schools are needed; they should be tailored to the spectrum of students' situations and needs. A structure of the YHC adapted to male youths' needs and alternative, easily accessible STI tests are important factors for reaching young men and having them participate in a responsible way in protecting their own and their partners' SRH.
