INTRODUCTION: This research is performed to determine the relationship between loneliness and social support levels in patients treated in oncology clinics. METHODS: It was conducted by face-to-face interviews with 121 patients aged between 18-65 who were treated with cancer diagnosis in oncology clinics between 2014 and 2015. A questionnaire including sociodemographic characteristics, Multidimensional Perceived Social Support Scale and UCLA Loneliness Scale were used to collect the data. In the evaluation of the data, Independent Sample t-Test, Directional Variance Analysis, and Pearson Correlation Analysis were used together with descriptive analyzes. RESULTS: In the study, it was observed that individuals with extended families had higher loneliness scores and decreased loneliness as the number of children increased. It was determined that loneliness decreased as the level of education increased. There is a moderate and significant negative correlation with "Perceived Friend Support" (r = -0.639; p = 0.000) and a negative moderate and significant relationship with the total score of "Perceived Total Support" (r = -0.585; p = 0.000) ) was determined to be. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: It is observed that the perceived social support decreases as the level of loneliness increases. It was observed that the special human support and total social support perceived by the patients between the ages of 18-29 were higher than the patients in other age groups. The socio-demographic characteristics of cancer patients such as age, gender, economic status, cultural characteristics and the way they perceive the disease, their state of being alone should be determined, and social support should be provided accordingly.

In this randomized controlled study, the effect of eight sessions of psychoeducation given to individuals with antisocial personality disorder on anger behaviors was examined. The sample of the study consisted of 62 patients with a diagnosis of antisocial personality disorder, who applied to the psychiatry outpatient clinic of a military hospital, by selecting by simple random sampling method (experimental group=32, control group=30). The data of the study were collected using the Introductory Information Form and the Trait Anger and Anger Expression Style Scale. After the pretest applied to the experimental and control groups, psychoeducation consisting of eight sessions was applied to the experimental group. No intervention was applied to the control group. At the end of the training of the experimental group, the posttest and follow-up test were applied to both the experimental and control groups in the first month and the third month after the posttest. A significant difference was found when the STAXI scores of the patients in the experimental and control groups were compared in the posttest and follow-up. The change in the mean scores of the individuals in the experimental group from all sub-dimensions of the STAXI in repeated measurements was statistically highly significant. Psychoeducation was found to be effective in controlling anger behavior and expressing it appropriately in patients with antisocial personality disorder. Teaching anger management affects individuals' ability to be more productive and controlled individuals. It is thought that the continuity of this education will benefit individuals..

The objective of this study was to identify domestic violence awareness and attitudes towards violence among adult individuals in Turkish society. Materials and Methods. This descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted online between September 15, 2021 and November 15, 2021 and included 353 individuals. The data were collected using the snowball sampling method, the Google Forms, the Socio-Demographic Descriptive Information Form, the Domestic Violence Awareness Scale, and the Attitudes Towards Domestic Violence (ADV) Scale. For data analysis, the number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Student’s t-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA), post hoc (Tukey, LSD) analyses, Cohen’s d and Eta squared (η 2) coefficients, and correlation analysis were used. Results. Most research participants were females (79.0%), with the average age of 30.53 ± 13.11 years. Of all the participants, 56.9% stated that they witnessed domestic violence, 22.7% stated that they experienced violence against women, 8.2% stated that they used violence. While the mean Domestic Violence Awareness Scale score was calculated as 41.09 ± 3.98, the mean score of the ADV Scale was calculated as 20.18 ± 7.82. The scores of domestic violence awareness differed significantly depending on education level (p=0.042; η 2=0.018). The scores of women’s attitude towards domestic violence (19.10) were lower than those in men (24.26) (p=0.05; d=0.684; η2=0.072). Participants’ attitudes towards domestic violence varied significantly by family type (p=0.006; η2=0.029), education level (p=0.007; η2=0.028), and occupation (p=0.007; η2=0.040). There was a significant positive relationship between awareness of and attitudes towards domestic violence (r=0.226). Conclusions. Study participants had a high sense of awareness towards domestic violence and a negative attitude towards violence. Their awareness of domestic violence was affected by education level, while their attitudes towards domestic violence was affected by gender, type of family, education level, and occupation.

Objective: The study was performed in order to determine the behavior of college students studying in health related departments for the early diagnosis of breast cancer.Materials and Methods: This study is a cross sectional study. 336 female students studying in School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences at a foundation university in Istanbul were included. A questionnaire directed to collect data regarding the participants’ socio-demographic characteristics and their behavior on the early diagnosis of breast cancer was used. Data were evaluated by descriptive statistics and chi-square test.Results: The mean age of students was 21.26±1.94, and 30.7% of the participants majored in nutrition, 29.2% in nursing, 22.9% in midwifery, 17.3% in physical therapy and rehabilitation departments. It was determined that 53.3% of the students made regular breast self-examination (BSE), and 88.1% did not get a clinical breast examination (CBE) within the last year. It was noticed that students who had BSE training, made more BSE and CBE as compared to those who did not get any education. Students with family history of breast cancer was performing more BSE that those without a family history. It was identified that students with BSE training and family history of breast cancer used BSE at a higher rate.Conclusion: It was identified that students with BSE training and family history of breast cancer usage of techniques to perform a BSE at a higher rate.
