Bu çalışmada, halofitik endemik Scorzonera hieraciifolia (Asteraceae)’nın morfolojisi, küresel ölçekteki tehtit seviyesi ve taksonomik durumu yeni veriler ışığında ele alınmıştır. Türün doğal yayılış gösterdiği alanlardan yeni toplanan ve ulusal/uluslararası herbaryumlarda saklanan örnekler üzerinden yapılan detaylı incelemeler S. hieraciifolia taksonunun kısa kıvrık tüylü (crisped) gövde tabanı; basit (lanseolat, ovat veya eliptik) veya birleşik (pinnat derin linear parçalı) yaprak ayası; ovat ve ucu boynuzsu uzantılı dış fillarileri (corniculate); tüysüz veya seyrek uzun kıvrık yünsü tüylü (lanate), 4-6 mm uzunlukta, siğilli (verrucose) yüzey süslemeli ve saplı (stipitate) akenleri ile karakterize olduğunu göstermiştir. Türün halihazırda tuzlu bataklık ve bozkır alanlarda tespit edilen popülasyonlarının (10 farklı alan) güçlü olduğu ancak küresel iklim değişimleri etkisiyle tuzcul alanlarda oluşabilecek değişimlerden etkilenebileceği öngörülerek küresel ölçekte tehdite yakın (NT) kategorisinde değerlendirilmiştir. Gerek literatür gerekse TÜBİTAK tarafından desteklenen proje kapsamında elde edilen güncel veriler değerlendirilerek türün yayılış alanları ortaya konulmuştur. Son olarak S. hieraciifolia yakın (akraba) türler ile morfolojik ve korolojik açısından karşılaştırılarak taksonomik durumu netleştirilmiştir. In this study, the morphology, global threat level and taxonomic status of the halophytic endemic Scorzonera hieraciifolia (Asteraceae) was investigated of new data. Detailed examinations on newly collected samples from the natural areas of the species and the specimens kept in national/international herbaria indicated that S. hieraciifolia is characterized by crisped hairs at the stem base; simple (lanceolate, ovate or elliptical) or compound (pinnate with deeply linear segments) leaves, ovate and corniculate outer phyllaries; glabrous or lanate, 4-6 mm length, verrucose and stipitate achenes. The populations of the species currently detected in salt marsh and steppe areas (10 different areas) are appraised strong, however considering that it could be affected by changes that may occur in saline areas due to global climate changes. It has evaluated in near threatened (NT) category in a global scale. The distribution areas of the species were revealed by evaluating both the literature and current data obtained within the scope of the project supported by TUBITAK. Finally, the taxonomic status of S. hieraciifolia has been clarified by comparing with close (relative) species in terms of morphology and chorology.

In the present paper, two little-known species (T. olympicus Boiss. and T. pichleri Boiss.) endemic to Turkey are evaluated in terms of morphology based on numerous authentic and/or new collections. Additionally, the phylogenetic positions of these little-known species are evaluated based on newly generated sequences of nrDNA ITS, trnL and trnL-F. As a result of the morphological examination, lectotypes are designated and documented for both species together with amended diagnosis. The phylogenetic analysis of the ITS data indicates that T. olympicus and T. latifolius Boiss. var. angustifolius are sister taxa, while T. dubius Scop. and T. pichleri are nested together in a different subclade of Tragopogon sect. Majores (Artemcz.) Kuthath s.l. However, neither species is resolved in the cpDNA tree due to low nucleotide diversity. The present results support treating T. olympicus and T. pichleri as members of Tragopogon sect. Sosnovskya Boriss. and Tragopogon sect. Majores, respectively.

Lactuca boissieri Rouy (Kocamarul) Doğu Karadeniz Bölgesi’nin yüksek kesimlerindeyayılış gösteren endemik türlerimizden biridir. Mevcut çalışmada türün yeni tespit edilenyayılış bilgilerine, şu ana kadar kaydedilen tüm yayılış bilgilerinden hareketle belirlenenmuhtemel yayılış alanlarına ve tehdit sınıfına yer verilmiştir. Tür, esas itibari ile DoğuKaradeniz’in nemli subalpin kuşağında yayılış göstermesine rağmen Maxent modellemesinegöre muhtemel yayılış alanının bilinen yayılış alanına göre daha geniş olduğu tespit edilmiştir.Endemik türümüzün teyit edilen eski 3 ve yeni tespit edilen 10 noktadaki varlığı, yaşam alanıve yayılış alanı büyüklüğü ile yazarların arazi gözlemleri dikkate alındığında Duyarlı(VU:B2ab(ii,iii)) sınıfında yer alması gerektiği belirlenmiştir. Lactuca boissieri Rouy (Kocamarul) endemic to Turkey is distributed at highlandof the Eastern Black Sea Region. The current study presents newly determined localityinformation of the species, its potential distribution area and conservation statute based onall known locality information. Although the species is mainly distributed in moist subalpinezone of the Eastern Black Sea Region, according to the Maxent modeling, potentialdistribution area is found to be wider than the currently known distribution area. Theconservation statute of the species was assed as Vulnerable (VU:B2ab(ii,iii)) according toapproved 3 older and newly determined 10 locations, authors’ field observations, area ofoccupancy and extent of occurrence calculated based on all known localities.

WOS: 000431317900011, The genus Scorzonera L. (Asteracea) is represented by fifty two species in Turkey. These species are being used in the treatment of several diseases due to their richness in secondary metabolites. In this study, endemic genus Scorzonera ahmet-duranii sp. nov. which is found in the South West Toros of Turkey was used as the experimental material. The species is only known in its type locality, and its population can be seen in a restricted area within the forest. For this reason, the continuity of these species is under threat. In addition, it is known that the species of the genus Scorzonera L. medicinal plants - due to their secondary metabolites - be used in the treatment of certain diseases among humans. So far, in vitro organogenesis of species of this genus has not been reported. In this study, in vitro organogenesis of S. ahmet-duranii is aimed for study. For this purpose, modified MS medium containing various concentrations of Kinetin and Naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) was used. In terms of percentage of callus formation, the most successful explant source is hypocotyl, documented as 90%. After the cultivation of apical meristems, cotyledon and hypocotyl explants in modified MS medium, shoot formation via organogenesis was observed.

In the present study, mitotic chromosome numbers of 18 Tragopogon taxa from Turkey, including five endemic species, were counted. The plant material originates from 30 populations. The chromosome numbers of T. albinervis (2n = 12), T. dshimilensis (2n = 12), T. oligolepis (2n = 12), T. porrifolius subsp. abbreviatus (2n = 12) and T. subacaulis (2n = 12) are reported for the first time. The chromosome numbers are published for the first time from Turkish accessions, except for T. coloratus, T. latifolius var. latifolius, T. reticulatus, and T. porrifolius subsp. longirostris. Of the studied plants 13 taxa proved to be diploid (2n = 12) and five taxa tetraploid (2n = 24). The chromosome numbers obtained from the present study are consistent with previous reports.

WOS: 000302197000007, In this study, the karyotypes of 13 taxa of the tribe Lactuceae growing naturally in Turkey were examined. Of the species of the genus Scorzonera L. (Asteraceae), S. laciniata L. subsp. laciniata, S. cana (C.A.Mey.) Hoffm. var. jacquiniana (W.Koch) Chamb., S. suberosa C.Koch subsp. suberosa, S. moths M.Bieb. subsp. mollis, S. papposa DC., S. lacera Boiss. & Bal., S. elata Boiss., and S. parviflora Jacq. have a diploid chromosome number of 2n = 14. For S. phaeopappa (Boiss.) Boiss., this number is 2n = 28, and for S. eriophora DC., S. pseudolanata Grossh., S. tomentosa L., and S. kotschyi Boiss., it is 2n = 12. The average chromosome length of the taxa examined was between 1.20 and 7.63 mu m. All of the taxa have median and submedian chromosome pairs in their chromosome morphologies. With the exception of S. parviflora, the chromosome morphologies of the taxa examined are presented here for the first time.

Scorzonera zorkunensis Coskuncelebi & S.Makbul (Asteraceae) is described and illustrated from Turkey. It grows on serpentine in alpine steppe vegetation together with several endemic Scorzonera L. species in southern Anatolia at altitudes of 2075-2100 m. It is morphologically similar to S. pisidica Hub.-Mor., but it differs in its habit and stem and leaf pubescence. Additionally, the size and micromorphological characters of the achenes and some anatomical traits of the leaves, stems, and roots are helpful in distinguishing these closely related taxa. The phylogenetic analyses based on nrDNA ITS sequence data indicate that S. pisidica is a sister species of the new taxon., Scorzonera zorkunensis Coskuncelebi & S.Makbul (Asteraceae) Türkiye’ den yeni bir endemik tür olarak tanımlandı. Bu yeni tür, bir çok endemik Scorzonera L. taksonu ile beraber alpin steplerdeki serpantin yerlerde yayılış göstermektedir. Yeni tür morfolojik olarak S. pisidica Hub.-Mor. türüne benzemesine rağmen yaşam alanı, yaprak ve gövde tüylenmesi bakımından ondan kolaylıkla ayrılmaktadır. Ayrıca meyvenin (aken) büyüklüğü ve mikromorfolojisi, kök, gövde ve yaprak anatomik özellikleri bu iki türün birbirinden ayrılmasına yardımcı olmaktadır. nrDNA ITS verilerine dayalı fi logenetik analizler S. pisidica’nın yeni tür ile kardeş olduğunu göstermiştir
