Abstract

This paper explores the journey teachers from a systemic Catholic primary school in regional northern New South Wales, Australia, undertook in the implementation of a new school curriculum framework, underpinned by 21st-century teaching and learning theory, policy and practice. With the swift and sweeping implementation of the Australian federal government's economic stimulus package 'Building the Education Revolution' [BER] in 2009, schools were afforded the opportunity to rethink school and classroom design to support the 21st-century learner and their needs. This programme expedited the creation of a flexible learning environment at the case study school, aligned with innovations in teaching and learning practices and school structures. Extending teachers' professional learning and deepening staff knowledge were important first steps in fostering a consistent understanding across the school of not only the 'how' of change but also the 'why' of change. The study's findings should resonate with other schools wishing to engage in whole of school change. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]

Abstract

Il saggio si articola intorno all'intrecciarsi delle pratiche messe in atto in due capitali della danza nella prima metà dell’Ottocento, Parigi e Napoli, per fare vivere un balletto celebre. Nel 1849, anno in cui Carlotta Grisi, prima interprete del parigina Giselle (1841), uno dei pilastri del balletto romantico ottocentesco, appare per l'ultima volta sul palcoscenico del Théâtre de l'Opéra di Parigi, al Teatro di San Carlo di Napoli debutta Gisella. Prosegue così il proprio lungo tragitto attraverso la penisola la versione italiana del ben noto Giselle, creazione esemplare del romanticismo in danza, che aveva debuttato all’Opéra nel 1842, con una Carlotta Grisi incarnazione - per la prima volta e per sempre - del ruolo della fresca e fragile contadinella morta d’amore e trasformatasi in un esangue spettro. La versione napoletana di Giselle viene proposta con il titolo divenuto ormai abituale per le numerose e variegate traduzioni interculturali che del balletto vengono realizzate in Italia a partire dall’anno successivo al debutto parigino . Si inserisce in una modalità di creazione e di distribuzione ben sperimentata nell'Ottocento, messa in atto con balletti proposti come adattamenti di titoli già noti, in un rifare la danza che allude al passato per proporre il nuovo, oscillando tra ripresa, ricostruzione e reinvenzione

28. Collaborative Care Transitions Symposium: Insights from Participants.

Abstract

Background/purpose: There are promising signs that interprofessional collaborative practice is associated with quality care transitions and improved access to patient-centred healthcare. A one-day symposium was held to increase awareness and capacity to deliver quality collaborative care transitions to interprofessional health disciplines and service users., Method: A mixed methods study was used that included a pre-post survey design and interviews to examine the impact of the symposium on knowledge, attitudes and practice change towards care transitions and collaborative practice with symposium participants., Discussion: Our survey results revealed a statistically significant increase in only a few of the scores towards care transitions and collaborative practice among post-survey respondents. Three key themes emerged from the qualitative analysis, including: (1) engaging the patient at the heart of interprofessional collaboration and co-design of care transitions; (2) having time to reach out, share and learn from each other; and (3) reflecting, reinforcing and revising practice., Conclusion: Further efforts that engage inter-organizational learning by exchanging knowledge and evaluating these forums are warranted., (Copyright © 2017 Longwoods Publishing.)

This paper highlights the relationship between the Fundamentals of Care Framework, patient safety and quality improvement by describing a more holistic view of patient engagement across the healthcare system. By creating reliable and resilient healthcare organizations that enhance nurses' capacity to engage in relational care and vigilance, healthcare agencies can effectively achieve safety and quality aims.
