Breast cancer (BC) is the most common cancer among women, characterized by significant heterogeneity. Diagnosis of the disease in the early stages and appropriate treatment plays a crucial role for these patients. Despite the available treatments, many patients due to drug resistance do not receive proper treatments. Recently, circular RNAs (circRNAs), a type of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), have been discovered to be involved in the progression and resistance to drugs in BC. CircRNAs can promote or inhibit malignant cells by their function. Numerous circRNAs have been discovered to be involved in the proliferation, invasion, and migration of tumor cells, as well as the progression, pathogenesis, tumor metastasis, and drug resistance of BC. Circular RNAs can also serve as a biomarker for diagnosing, predicting prognosis, and targeting therapy. The most prevalent form of primary liver cancer, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) poses a significant global health challenge due to its limited therapeutic options. Researchers are currently focused on the complex molecular landscape that governs the initiation and progression of HCC in order to identify new avenues for diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment. In the context of HCC, the Kinesin Superfamily Proteins (KIFs) have become critical regulators of cellular processes, prompting a growing interest in their function among the diverse array of molecular actors implicated in cancer. The KIFs, a family of microtubule-based molecular motors, are renowned for their essential roles in the dynamics of mitotic spindles and intracellular transport. Beyond their well-established functions in normal cellular physiology, emerging evidence indicates that dysregulation of KIFs significantly contributes to the pathogenesis of HCC. Novel therapeutic targets and diagnostic markers are revealed through the unique opportunity to comprehend the complex interplay between KIFs and the molecular events that drive HCC., (© 2024. Context: Phographene and its family member structures are of the newly proposed semiconductors for detection of chemicals. That is, in this project, the potential of using α-phographene (α-POG) both for adsorption and detection of five types of the most important air pollutant gases containing SO 2 , AsH 3 , CF 3 H, NO 2 , and CO 2 species were investigated.  The results of the time dependent density functional theory (TD-DFT) calculations indicate that during the adsorption of NO 2 , and SO 2 by the sorbent, big redshifts occur (up to 866.2 nm, and 936.5, respectively) resulting in considerable changes in the orbitals and the electronic structures of the systems. Moreover, the results of the thermodynamic calculations reveal that α-POG could selectively adsorb SO 2 , NO 2 , and AsH3 gases (with different orders), but it could not adsorb the two other gases.Finally, the outcome of the band gap calculations shows that between all mentioned gases, α-POG could selectively detect the presence of SO 2 , and then NO 2 ; while, this nanosheet could not sense the existence of AsH 3 , CF 3 H, or CO 2 gases., Methods: All of the calculations were carried out by using the Gaussian 03 quantum chemical package. Activation of autophagy, a process of cellular stress response, leads to the breakdown of proteins, organelles, and other parts of the cell in lysosomes, and can be linked to several ailments, such as cancer, neurological diseases, and rare hereditary syndromes. Thus, its regulation is very carefully monitored. Transcriptional and post-translational mechanisms domestically or in whole organisms utilized to control the autophagic activity, have been heavily researched. In modern times, microRNAs (miRNAs) are being considered to have a part in post-translational orchestration of the autophagic activity, with miR-21 as one of the best studied miRNAs, it is often more than expressed in cancer cells. This regulatory RNA is thought to play a major role in a plethora of processes and illnesses including growth, cancer, cardiovascular disease, and inflammation. Background: This study aimed to investigate the occurrence of aminoglycoside resistance and the prevalence of the resistance-modifying enzyme genes, ant(3")-III, ant(6')-Ia, aac(6')-Ie-aph(2")-Ia , and aph(2')-Id , in Enterococcus strains isolated in Kermanshah Province, west of Iran., Methods: In this cross-sectional study, 108 enterococcal isolates from urine, wound, blood, and cerebrospinal fluid samples were collected. The Enterococcus species were recognized by standard phenotypic/biochemical tests. The antimicrobial resistance forms were detected using a disc diffusion method. Polymerase chain reaction was designed to identify aminoglycoside resistance genes, including ant(3")-III, ant(6')-Ia, aac(6')-Ie-aph(2")-Ia , and aph(2')-Id ., Results: Totally, 108 strains with a final diagnosis of Enterococcus were extracted from 84 (77.8%) urine, 14 (13%) wound, 6 (5.6%) blood, and 4 (3.7%) cerebrospinal fluid samples. Among the 108 Enterococcus specimens, 94 (87%) cases were Enterococcus faecalis and 14 (13%) were Enterococcus faecium . The highest frequency of resistance was observed for erythromycin (88.9%), while the lowest was found for streptomycin (44.4%). The frequency of high-level gentamicin resistance was 42.2%. Among the identified specimens, 42.6% contained the aac(6')-Ie-aph(2")-I gene, 20.4% contained the ant(6')-Ia gene, and 15.7% contained the ant(3")-III gene. A significant correlation was found between phenotypic gentamicin resistance and the presence of the aminoglycoside resistance genes (P<0.05)., Conclusion: This study showed the high resistance of Enterococcus strains isolated from hospital samples. Compared with the previous studies, the strains isolated in our study showed a higher percentage of resistance to aminoglycosides.

Understanding of plant adaptation to abiotic stresses has implications in plant breeding, especially in the context of climate change. MicroRNAs (miRNAs) and short interfering RNAs play a crucial role in gene regulation. Here, wheat plants were exposed to one of the following stresses: continuous light, heat or ultraviolet radiations over five consecutive days and leaf tissues from three biological replicates were harvested at 0, 1, 2, 3, 7 and 10 days after treatment (DAT). A total of 72 small RNA libraries were sequenced on the Illumina platform generating ~524 million reads corresponding to ~129 million distinct tags from which 232 conserved miRNAs were identified. The expression levels of 1, 2 and 79 miRNAs were affected by ultraviolet radiation, continuous light and heat, respectively. Approximately 55% of the differentially expressed miRNAs were downregulated at 0 and 1 DAT including miR398, miR528 and miR156 that control mRNAs involved in activation of signal transduction pathways and flowering. Other putative targets included histone variants and methyltransferases. These results suggest a temporal miRNA-guided post-transcriptional regulation that enables wheat to respond to abiotic stresses, particularly heat. Designing novel wheat breeding strategies such as regulatory gene-based marker assisted selection depends on accurate identification of stress induced miRNAs.
