Objective: to analyze the effects of drugs on the families of users included in sentinel events. Methods: an exploratory study with epidemiological investigation of 30 cases of hospitalized patients with a diagnosis of physical trauma associated with drug use (sentinel events). Results: there was a predominance of males, with an average of 40.1 years, low schooling and unemployed. Most had used drugs on average for 20.8 years and were in families with addictive behavior. The most commonly used drug was alcohol, and traumas were due to traffic accidents, falls and aggression (73.4%). Conclusion: drug abuse determined aggressiveness in the family context, previous trauma, illicit maneuvers for buying drugs, and home use of drugs, thus reinforcing social and family vulnerability.

This study aimed to understand the reasons for the non-use of drugs by members of families exposed to risk factors for use, for living in a territory with high drug circulation. This is a descriptive, qualitative study, using the Hidden Population reference to access the vulnerable and inaccessible populationand the Respondent Driven Sampling to reach the "hidden" population. The reference chain consisted of 90 families and we processed their responses by thematic content analysis, resulting in three themes: family interaction, religiosity and intrinsic factors and reasons for non-use of drugs; networks of support and interaction influencing the non-use of drugs; and occupational and educational factors and the distance from the daily life of drugs. Even in a neighborhood permeated by trafficking and violence, we identified protective factors and families whose members had never used drugs.

Objective: knowing the outcome of violence victims assistance at a teaching hospital, in the northwest of Parana (Brazil), in 2009. Method: exploratory- descriptive study, in which the Notification Forms, the Individual Forms of Domestic, Sexual Violence and/or other kinds of Violence of 18 victims, filed in the hospital, were audited. Results: the forms belonged to women, victims of sexual violence (72.3%). All the biochemical examinations recommended were carried out; emergency contraception was conducted in six cases (33.3%) and 83.3% of the victims were advised to have laboratory monitoring, but at the first return, 53.3% of the victims had abandoned it. No register of communication networks between the hospital and the health care was found. Conclusion: studies concerning the assistance that violence victims receive in health service units should be stimulated, for more specific prevention actions and for improving the way victims are treated at health service units

Resumo Objetivo Identificar a prevalência do uso de drogas lícitas e ilícitas por gestantes que realizavam pré-natal na Atenção Primária à Saúde e fatores associados ao seu uso. Métodos Estudo transversal realizado por meio de roteiro estruturado, composto de variáveis sociodemográficas gestacionais e uso de drogas pela gestante e seus familiares, aplicado a 270 mulheres em pré-natal de baixo risco de 15 Unidades Básicas de Saúde, de dois municípios de uma região metropolitana do Sul do Brasil, onde existem diferenças socioeconômicas e demográficas negativas em relação a cidade-polo. Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar as produções científicas envolvendo as repercussões da pandemia da covid-19 nas ações e nos serviços de saúde ofertados às pessoas vivendo com HIV. Para tanto, foi realizada uma revisão de escopo, de acordo com as recomendações do Joanna Briggs Institute e PRISMA-ScR. A busca ocorreu em março de 2022 em sete bases de dados e na literatura cinzenta, com os descritores: pandemia, COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2, HIV, infecções por HIV, estratégias de saúde e serviços de saúde, combinados aos operadores booleanos “AND” e “OR”. Dois pesquisadores conduziram a pesquisa nas fontes de dados, de maneira independente. Com a busca, foram identificadas 1.032 publicações, das quais 42 foram incluídas. Foram evidenciadas dificuldades no acesso e na vinculação aos serviços de saúde, manifestando-se em redução do horário de atendimento, escassez de materiais e diminuição ou sobrecarga de recursos humanos, o que fragilizou a oferta de ações de monitoramento do tratamento, dispensação de medicamentos e acompanhamento clínico. Por outro lado, foram empregados sistemas digitais de atendimento e seguimento, além do uso de métodos de dispensação de medicamentos para longos períodos, recorrendo-se a locais próximos às pessoas acometidas ou, até mesmo, em suas residências. Em suma, foi possível constatar que, apesar dos efeitos negativos da pandemia nas ações e nos serviços de saúde ameaçarem as conquistas dos últimos 40 anos do enfrentamento da epidemia do HIV, estratégias promissoras para oportunizar a atenção integral, proativa e continuada foram implementadas em tempos de covid-19.

Objetivo: identificar o conhecimento e os comportamentos de risco para infecções sexualmente transmissíveis em pessoas surdas. Método: estudo transversal realizado com 110 pessoas surdas residentes no noroeste do Paraná, selecionadas com a técnica da bola de neve. Os dados foram coletados mediante instrumento estruturado e submetidos à análise estatística descritiva e inferencial (uso de regressão logística múltipla). Resultados: a maioria possuía pouca informação sobre as formas de transmissão e prevenção das infecções sexualmente transmissíveis (menos de 40% de acertos em relação a hepatite, a gonorreia e a sífilis, sendo que 20,9% já teve sintoma de infecção sexualmente transmissível). Nove dos 26 que tiveram relação sexual casual não usaram preservativo. Pessoas bilíngues bimodal apresentaram mais chance de conhecer formas de transmissão e prevenção das infecções sexualmente transmissíveis e ter comportamentos sexuais seguros. Conclusão: os surdos em estudo demonstraram pouco conhecimento sobre as formas de transmissão e prevenção de infecções sexualmente transmissíveis, o que constitui desafio para os profissionais de saúde. A toxicovigilância é o conjunto de medidas e ações que tem por finalidade conhecer a ocorrência e fatores relacionados às intoxicações e promover sua prevenção ou controle. O estudo tem como objetivo descrever a experiência dos participantes do projeto de extensão universitária por sistema ativo de toxicovigilância em ambiente hospitalar. Trata-se de um relato de experiência vivenciada por estudantes durante participação no projeto de extensão universitária intitulado Toxicolovigilância: busca ativa e educação em serviço de saúde, desenvolvido em um centro de informação e assistência toxicológica da região Noroeste do Paraná em 2020, apresentado em duas unidades de análise: o cenário e cotidiano da toxicovigilância por busca ativa e a vivência dos participantes no projeto. O projeto tem contribuído para o efetivo conhecimento das ocorrências toxicológicas locorregionais, devido a importância que a busca ativa de casos possui ao diminuir a subnotificação, e para a proposição de formas de controle e prevenção adequadas à realidade macrorregional. As atividades extensionistas possibilitam ao estudante melhor compreensão da realidade hospitalar associada às intoxicações, sendo primordial para o desenvolvimento de educação em saúde e ações de saúde pública. Os dados subnotificados servem de alerta aos gestores de saúde pública sobre a necessidade de implementarem estratégias de prevenção desses agravos. Palavras-chave: Intoxicação; Vigilância Epidemiológica; Sub-registro; Educação em Saúde Active search for toxic surveillance in hospital health service Abstract: Toxicovigilance is the set of measures and actions aimed at recognizing the occurrence and reasons related to poisoning and promoting its prevention or control. This study aims to describe the experience of the participants of the university extension project using an active drug surveillance system in a hospital environment. Experience report of experience lived by students during participation in the university extension project entitled Toxicovigilance: active search and education in health services, developed in a toxicological information and assistance center in the Northwest region of Paraná in 2020, presented by two units of analysis: the scenario and daily life of drug surveillance through active search, and the participant's experience in the project. The project has added knowledge to the locoregional toxicological occurrences due to the importance that the active search for cases plays in reducing under-reporting and recommending control and prevention forms suitable to the macro-regional reality. Extension activities contribute to the student's better understanding of the hospital reality associated with poisoning, which is crucial for developing health education and public health actions. Underreported data work as a warning to public health managers about the need to implement prevention strategies for these diseases. Introdução: compreender como profissionais da Estratégia Saúde da Família percebem a intoxicação infantil e as práticas de cuidado desenvolvidas em comunidade em situação de vulnerabilidade social. Métodos: pesquisa de abordagem qualitativa baseada no referencial dialógico de Paulo Freire. Foi desenvolvida por entrevistas face a face, com 15 profissionais integrantes de equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família de um município do Noroeste do Paraná, Brasil. As entrevistas foram áudio gravadas, transcritas e submetidas à Análise de Conteúdo de Bardin. Resultados: as percepções foram articuladas em três categorias temáticas: Intoxicações infantis e o ambiente domiciliar: como os acidentes ocorrem; Prática profissional para atendimento, encaminhamento e prevenção das intoxicações infantis; e Limites para a prática de promoção e prevenção das intoxicações infantis no território. Conclusão: as percepções revelam os profissionais não considerarem a família inserida em um contexto sociocultural como centro da ação profissional, poucos referiam ao cuidado no contexto da promoção da saúde e prevenção.

Abstract Objective: to evaluate the factors associated with risk related to the use of psychoactive substances in male inmates of a prison in a city in the South of Brazil. Method: a cross-sectional data from 220 men deprived of liberty, inmates of a provisional custody institution in the State of Paraná, collected with a screening instrument and questionnaire. Binary logistic regression and odds ratio analysis were used to verify associations between risk related to substance use and socio-demographic characteristics of living conditions before incarceration and current incarceration. Results: the adjusted model revealed association of consumption with skin color brown/black and yellow, those who had only one parent responsible until age 15, age at first arrest 18 or older, professing religion, working before arrest, owning their own house, living alone, receiving visitors in prison. Conclusion: the identified factors are useful to insert effective treatment proposals and reduce the gaps and social vulnerability existing in prison.

Introduction Since 2020, the world has been going through a viral pandemic with a high morbidity and mortality rate along with the potential to evolve from an acute infection to post-acute and long-COVID, which is still in the process of elucidation. Diagnostic and prognostic research is essential to understand the complexity of factors and contexts involving the illness’s process. This protocol introduces a study strategy to analyse predictors, sequelae, and repercussions of COVID-19 in adults and older adults with different disease severities in the State of Paraná, Brazil.Methods and analysis A mixed-methods sequential explanatory design. The quantitative data will be conducted by an ambispective cohort study, which will explore the manifestations of COVID-19 for 18 months, with nearly 3000 participants with confirmed diagnoses of COVID-19 (reverse transcription-PCR test) between March and December of 2020, retrieved from national disease reporting databases, over 18 years old, living in a Brazilian State (Paraná) and who survived the viral infection after being discharged from a health service. Data collection will be conducted through telephone interviews, at two different occasions: the first will be a recall 12 months after the acute phase as a retrospective follow-up, and the second will be another prospective interview, with data of the following 6 months. For the qualitative step, Grounded Theory will be used; participants will be selected from the cohort population. The first sample group will be composed of people who were discharged from the intensive care unit, and other sample groups will be composed according to theoretical saturation. The qualitative data will follow the temporal design and classification of the disease provided for in the cohort.Ethics and dissemination Ethics approval was granted by the State University of Maringá, under opinion number: 4 165 272 and CAAE: 34787020.0.0000.0104 on 21 July 2020, and Hospital do Trabalhador (Worker’s Hospital), which is accountable for the Health Department of the State of Paraná, under opinion number: 4 214 589 and CAAE: 34787020.0.3001.5225 on 15 August 2020. The participants will verbally consent to the research, their consent will be recorded, and the informed consent form will be sent by mail or email. Outcomes will be widely disseminated through peer-reviewed manuscripts, conference presentations, media and reports to related authorities.

Objective: to analyze readmissions and deaths of hospitalized patients due to the effects of alcohol abuse. Methods: documentary, longitudinal and retrospective study, by analysis of hospital records, carried out in a teaching hospital, by descriptive analysis, univariate association, using Pearson's chi-square test. Results: 399 readmissions of 278 patients were analyzed. Two hospitalizations predominated (69.6%). Most were male (85.2%), and the mean age was 47.15 years (± 13.91); 91.2% were readmissions due to the use of alcoholic beverages, with 45.3% of complications associated with injuries, poisoning and external causes of morbidity and mortality. Twenty-seven (9.7%) patients died. The readmissions of retirees/housewives had an odds ratio of 3.0 of progressing to death. Conclusion: the analysis showed prevalent readmissions and mortality in males, productive age group, with a significant association of risk in intensive care patients and cause of death associated with complications of chronic alcohol use. Contributions to practice: the identification of the causes of readmissions helps nursing professionals in the early recognition of signs of severity and serves as a subsidy for the development of prevention strategies and actions to improve the care network.

Objective: To analyze the data on epidemiological records of autointoxication reports registered at a toxicological assistance center. Methods: Exploratory, descriptive, and retrospective study with the analysis of secondary data, conducted from the audit on Toxicological Occurrence Notification and Attendance forms, referring to the period from 2014 to 2018, filed in a toxicological information and assistance center, located in a municipality in southern Brazil. The data obtained were compiled in spreadsheets and analyzed using simple descriptive statistics. Results: 2,942 epidemiological records on women's autointoxication were audited, 72.0% of the total cases in the period studied. The predominant age group was 18 to 29 years old, with 1697 (57.7%) cases. The main toxic agent was medication, and the only agent of intoxication in 2,358 cases (80.1%). Psychotropic drugs accounted for 55.2% (1,593) of the cases, mainly antiepileptic and psychoanalytic drugs. Clonazepam was present in 567 (35.6%) suicide attempts and as the sole agent in 275 (17.3%) of them. In 873 cases (54.8%), mental illness was reported, in 546 (34.3%) previous suicide attempts, and 1,082 (67.9%) continued use of psychotropic medication. The main outcome was hospital discharge in 1,239 cases (77.8%). Conclusion: The study showed an increase in cases of female autointoxication over the period studied. The high percentage of autointoxication with psychotropic medications may be related to the ease of access at home and society's medicalization.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the prevalence and factors associated with non-communicable chronic diseases in deaf people. Methods: Cross-sectional study with 110 deaf people in Maringá-Paraná, selected using the snowball sampling technique. Data were collected from February to August 2019, using a structured instrument; and, in the analysis, multiple logistic regression was used. Results: The self-reported prevalence of chronic diseases was 43.6%, the most frequent being: arterial hypertension (12.7%), depression (6.4%), diabetes mellitus (5.4%), respiratory disease (5.4%) and hypothyroidism (4.5%). Using health services for routine consultations was significantly associated with being bimodal bilingual. The only risk behavior significantly associated with chronic disease was excessive consumption of sweet foods. Conclusion: The prevalence of chronic diseases in this population may be higher than that found, as there is a possibility of underdiagnosis due to the low demand for routine consultations and the difficulty of communication with health professionals.

ABSTRACT OBJECTIVE To analyze the spatial correlation between confirmed cases of covid-19 and the intensive care unit beds exclusive to the disease in municipalities of Paraná. METHODS This is an epidemiological study of ecological type which used data from the Epidemiological Report provided by the Department of Health of Paraná on the confirmed cases of covid-19 from March 12, 2020, to January 18, 2021. The number of intensive care beds exclusive to covid-19 in each municipality of Paraná was obtained by the Cadastro Nacional de Estabelecimentos de Saúde (CNES - National Registry of Health Establishments), provided online by the Departamento de Informática do Sistema Único de Saúde (Datasus - Informatics Department of the Brazilian Unified Health System). The Bivariate Moran’s Index (local and global) was used to analyze the intensive care bed variable and spatial correlation, with a 5% significance level. LISA Map was used to identify critical and transition areas. RESULTS In the analyzed period, we found 499,777 confirmed cases of covid-19 and 1,029 intensive care beds exclusive to the disease in Paraná. We identified a positive spatial autocorrelation between the confirmed cases of covid-19 (0.404–p ≤ 0.001) and intensive care beds exclusive to the disease (0.085–p ≤ 0.001) and disparities between the regions of Paraná. CONCLUSION Spatial analysis indicated that confirmed cases of covid-19 are related to the distribution of intensive care beds exclusive to the disease in Paraná, allowing us to find priority areas of care in the state regarding the dissemination and control of the disease.

Objetivo: rastrear o consumo de drogas por gestantes em pré-natal de baixo risco, usuárias da atenção básica de saúde. Método: estudo transversal, desenvolvido em 2016, 2018 e 2020, em município do Paraná - Brasil. Rastreouse o consumo de drogas de abuso com uso do ASSIST 3.1. Utilizou-se estatística descritiva, não paramétrica e coeficiente de correlação de Spearman. Resultados: entrevistou-se 588 gestantes. Verificou-se uso atual de álcool, tabaco, maconha e cocaína durante a gestação e aumento progressivo no consumo destas substâncias, constatou-se correlações significativas entre o risco relacionado ao consumo das drogas de abuso entre si, nível de escolaridade, renda familiar, cor e religião. Conclusão: o consumo atual de uma das drogas foi correlacionado com as demais, revelando um perfil de usuárias com poliuso de substâncias, jovens, primigestas, casadas, sem residência própria, nível educacional médio, renda familiar de até dois salários mínimo, de cor preta e/ou parda, e católicas.

Objective: To analyze the root cause of occurrences of severe intoxication in children and adolescents from the perspective of sentinel events. Methods: Observational, retrospective, and qualitative study of a series of cases of seven children and young people with a confirmed clinical picture of intoxication by various agents, treated in a stabilization room of emergency care units or intensive care, and notified to toxicological information and assistance center from January to June 2019. The epidemiological surveillance of sentinel events was used based on a review of hospital documents and in-depth interviews with family members. The Root Cause Analysis (RCA) matrix was used to evaluate the cases and the systematic reconstruction of the cases' antecedents.Results: The age profile of the study population, the pattern of agents and substances involved - poisoning by intentional ingestion in five (71%) cases, indicated critical points and missed opportunities for prevention. The individual and family history analysis indicated as direct causal factors the deviations from norms for preventing poisoning at home or in the family context for all cases.The prevention and health promotion activities in the health services constituted the underlying causes of the occurrences.Conclusion: The root cause analysis identified a deficiency in public policies, but the interface between education, public security, social assistance, economy, and health policies would be preponderant for preventing childhood and youth poisoning.

ABSTRACT Objective: To analyze the knowledge and practices of education of Family Health Strategy professionals regarding child intoxication for the autonomy and empowering of the families. Methods: Qualitative research, carried out through semistructured interviews with 50 professionals from the Family Health Strategy of a city in the Northwest of Paraná. Data was problematized using Paulo Freire’s sociocultural approach and its concepts of dialogism and autonomy. Results: The statements showed the many ways in which the care for child intoxication is perceived and their relations with educational action, but these were traditional educational practices, with elements focused on the dissemination of information about health-disease, probably because the dialogic approach is still abstract and has no interface with the concrete practices. Final considerations: The education knowledge and practices of the professionals for the autonomy and empowering of families suggested that there is a transition stage between the biomedical model, focused on a cure, and the dialogical one.

Abstract The present study describes a method for simultaneous analysis of cocaine, benzoylecgonine and cocaethylene in urine samples. After solid phase extraction, Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry was used for identification and quantification. The calibration curves were linear at 20 - 3000 ng/mL, r2 0.9997 for benzoylecgonine, 15 - 2000 ng/mL, r2 0.9985 and r2 0.9993 for cocaine and cocaethylene, respectively. Accuracy values: cocaine: 93,5 - 102,1%; benzoylecgonine: 97,5 - 104,8%; cocaethylene: 90,6 - 101,5%. Precision values: cocaine: C.V 5,4 - 14,6%; benzoylecgonine: C.V 7,8 - 12,3%; cocaethylene: C.V 5,9 - 12,3%. Detection and quantification limit values: cocaine and cocaethylene:10 ng/mL and 15 ng/mL, respectivalty; benzoylecgonine:15 ng/mL and 20 ng/mL, respectivaley. Recovery values: cocaine: 78,0 - 85,8%; benzoylecgonine: 74,0 - 79,8%; cocaethylene: 83,0 - 91,5%. The method described is advantageous compared to others, as it simultaneously detects the major analytes found in urine samples due to cocaine use and has been successfully validated.

ABSTRACT Objective: to evaluate the impact of an educational intervention, on nurses’ self-perception, about knowledge and skills for initial care for burn victims. Methods: a quasi-experimental study of the type before and after, with 18 nurses who assist burn victims. The intervention was carried out for 11 days in face-to-face meetings and online activities, and comprised active case-based learning strategies, simulation training, concept maps and digital portfolio. A structured instrument was used to collect sociodemographic data, and another one related to the knowledge and essential skills to the initial care for burn victims. ABSTRACT Objectives: to understand the experiences of family members of drivers who violate the law against drinking and driving and the post-penal repercussions. Methods: a qualitative study, with family members of drivers who violated the law against drinking and driving who participated in the Projeto Justiça e Sobriedade no Trânsito de Maringá - PR (Traffic Justice and Sobriety Project in Maringá - PR). Data collection was carried through semi-structured interviews, analyzed through thematic analysis. Results: it was observed in the family members' reports: the suffering of families due to the consumption of alcohol and other drugs; the violation of the law against drinking and driving meaning turning point, with positive and negative changes in the family context; and the meanings of the Traffic Justice and Sobriety Project. Final Considerations: the law against drinking and driving penalties triggered unemployment and financial expenses, but the positive aspects were quitting alcohol use and/or not drinking and driving anymore. The Traffic Justice and Sobriety Project was informed as solidarity and a trigger for changing the offenders' behavior.

Objetivo: analisar a evolução das internações e da taxa de mortalidade hospitalar de vítimas de queimaduras no Brasil, no período 2007-2016. Método: estudo observacional retrospectivo, com dados do Sistema de Informações Hospitalares do Sistema Único de Saúde. Empregou-se o teste qui-quadrado, sendo estimado o risco relativo de óbito. Resultados: Houve maior risco de óbito por queimaduras decorrentes da exposição à fumaça, ao fogo e às chamas (RR 2,3; IC95% 2,25; 2,41), na região Sudeste (RR 1,4; IC95% 1,36;1,44) e em idosos com 80 anos e mais (RR 4,9; IC95% 4,74;5,08). Predominaram as internações e mortalidade hospitalar decorrentes da exposição à corrente elétrica, à radiação e às temperaturas e pressões extremas do ambiente (84,1% e 78,8%), nas regiões sul e sudeste (50,4%), na faixa-etária de 20 a 59 anos (58,2%) e no sexo masculino (68,9%). Conclusões: houve aumento das internações e taxa de mortalidade hospitalar por queimaduras com o avançar dos anos, sendo observadas importantes diferenças sociodemográficas e geográficas, revelando importantes particularidades dos acidentes por queimaduras. Destaca-se a importância de conhecer essa casuística de maneira mais aprofundada, uma vez que tal conhecimento é primordial para discussão de políticas de saúde de cunho preventivo e assistencial.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze characteristics of homeless people and factors associated with living on the streets. Methods: a census-type sectional survey carried out between 2015 and 2018, in the municipality of Maringá-Paraná. A total of 701 homeless answered a structured questionnaire with sociodemographic data, living conditions, and drug use. We used Pearson’s correlation test for the association analysis of the variables at a 95% confidence level. Results: men (90.7%) the average age of 37.7 years had been homeless for an average of 5.39 years. Most had little education (54.2%), and homelessness was due to drug use (47.2%) and family disagreements (38.9%). Conclusions: drug use and family disagreements were the main reasons for homelessness. Time on the street, gender, and drugs were associated with a negative correlation to be homeless; and age, mean daily income, the number of daily meals, having been in prison, and having an income source were associated with positive correlation.

Objective: to assess risk related to drug use in men admitted to a psychiatric hospital and to identify associations with sociodemographic, socioeconomic variables, and risk conditions. Method: a cross-sectional study with the application of a screening test in 209 participants hospitalized for mental and behavioral disorders due to the use of psychoactive substances. Statistical analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and adjustment of a binary logistic regression model for moderate or high risk of drug use. The odds ratio measured the strength of association. Results: high use in life was observed, with alcohol and tobacco experimentation in adolescence. A high prevalence of related risk was observed for alcohol, tobacco, smoked and inhaled cocaine, and marijuana. Moderate and elevated risks were found for tobacco (22.5% and 62.5%, respectively), alcohol (13.5% and 73%), marijuana (16% and 32.5%), smoked cocaine (3% and 41%) and inhaled cocaine (9% and 19.5%). Conclusion: the results showed high use in life, with an age of early experimentation. Tobacco and alcohol are the main drugs used by hospitalized men.

Abstract Objective: To describe the contents and structure of the social representation of cancer. Method: A qualitative study based on the Theory of Social Representations, carried out in a High Complexity Care Unit in Oncology. Data collection included a socio-occupational and clinical characterization questionnaire and free evocations form from 100 cancer patients in chemotherapy treatment and in-depth interviews with 29 of them. The analysis was performed using EVOC software. Results: One hundred (100) patients participated in the study. The social representation of cancer has the words normal, difficult disease, death and fear in its central nucleus. The apparent ambivalence between the continuity of life and its finitude as structuring meanings of this representation enables establishing an inferential hypothesis that relates normal disease to the possibility of treatment, control and cure of cancer, while the fear of death remains in the representational field linked to the disease, which has a difficult treatment to cope with. Conclusion: The social representations of cancer based on the presented interrelationships provide reflections which may contribute to increasing the individual and social care of patients with malignant neoplasm and their family in health services.

Resumo Objetivo Analisar a vulnerabilidade social de famílias que convivem por tempo prolongado com o comportamento aditivo de um de seus membros. Métodos Estudo transversal, com familiares de 29 usuários de drogas, internados com trauma físico associado à intoxicação por drogas de abuso entre abril a setembro de 2014. Utilizou-se o Índice de Vulnerabilidade das Famílias Paranaenses, composto pelas dimensões: adequação do domicílio; perfil e composição familiar; acesso ao trabalho e renda e escolaridade. Os dados foram analisados por medidas de tendência. Resultados Os usuários tinham média de idade de 40,1 anos e comportamento aditivo médio de 20,8 anos. Apenas três famílias não estavam em vulnerabilidade social, e a maior vulnerabilidade foi em relação ao acesso ao trabalho e renda (79,3%) e escolaridade (82,6%), com relação proporcional entre essas dimensões. Conclusão Encontrou-se agravamento da vulnerabilidade em indicadores de longo prazo, proporcional aos anos de enfrentamento às drogas.

O fenômeno das drogas está presente desde os primórdios da humanidade e no universo feminino houve um crescimento do consumo nos últimos anos, criando novos desafios à saúde materno-infantil, devido seus efeitos deletérios no binômio. O objetivo foi caracterizar o perfil sociodemográfico das mulheres usuárias de álcool e outras drogas na gravidez. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e exploratório através de análise documental. A população foi composta por 57 gestantes internadas em hospital escola entre 2008 a 2015. Os dados foram submetidos à análise descritiva simples e atendeu os preceitos éticos em pesquisa com seres humanos. O perfil sociodemográfico encontrado foi predominante de gestantes jovens, com baixa escolaridade e sem vinculo empregatício, nove vivia em situação de rua. A droga ilícita mais utilizada foi à cocaína, tanto na forma em pó quanto na forma de crack, enquanto as drogas lícitas foram o derivado do tabaco seguido da bebida alcoólica. O principal motivo de internação foi as intercorrências obstétricas, elas tinham baixa adesão ao pré-natal, indicando que o serviço de saúde teve dificuldade em acessá-las. O principal desfecho encontrado foi o parto vaginal e cirúrgico, com um período de internação superior ao esperado e baixo vinculo afetivo com recém-nascido.

O Programa de Visita Domiciliar ao Intoxicado (PROVIDI) é um projeto de extensão universitária desenvolvido em um centro de assistência toxicológica na região Sul do Brasil, desde 1992. O PROVIDI aborda a família de egressos de intoxicações graves, em seu contexto sociocultural conhecendo o indivíduo no seu ambiente familiar, a fim de reconhecer suas reais necessidades e envolver os membros da família no tratamento, contribuindo para a prevenção de recidivas toxicológicas. Neste sentido, o objetivo do presente artigo é relatar a experiência da prática de visitas domiciliares em um programa de extensão universitária interdisciplinar de um centro de informação e assistência toxicológica do estado do Paraná. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo e documental, na modalidade relato de experiência. O conteúdo do texto é resultante do Roteiro de Sistematização da Assistência das Visitas Domiciliares, dos registros das atividades domiciliares nas Fichas de Visitas Domiciliares, e dos relatórios anuais do projeto de extensão universitária. Participam do PROVIDI acadêmicos de graduação e pós-graduação de Enfermagem e Psicologia, supervisionados por enfermeiras e psicóloga da equipe técnica do Centro. O PROVIDI, como marco para a assistência integralizada ao intoxicado e sua família, desenvolve no aluno o cuidado com o outro, em um espaço que integra profissionais da Saúde da Família e usuários dos serviços de saúde, para fortalecimento do mix formação e atenção à saúde, em uma prática acadêmica que deve ser divulgada e vivenciada em outras realidades nacional e internacional.

Objetivo descrever a vivência de estudantes de Enfermagem no atendimento inicial ao queimado.Métodos estudo transversal, realizado com 107 estudantes de Enfermagem de quatro Instituições de Educação Superior. Utilizou-se um questionário modular, estruturado, dividido em três blocos. Os dados foram analisados por meio de estatística descritiva, por meio do programa Epi Info® 6.04.Resultados a maioria (94,4%) informou que o atendimento inicial ao queimado foi abordado em disciplinas da graduação, porém 81,6% consideraram a abordagem insuficiente. Sobre a relação teoria-prática da abordagem, 47,7% afirmaram ter participado de atividades teóricas extracurriculares, e 28,0% realizaram atividades práticas do atendimento inicial ao queimado. A totalidade dos alunos considerou importante a abordagem desse tema na graduação: 38,7% afirmaram ser extremamente importante, mas 41,1% possuíam pouca ou nenhuma afinidade com o tema.Conclusão a vivência do tema, em especial nas atividades práticas, foi considerada insuficiente pelos estudantes de Enfermagem, indicando a necessidade premente de repensar práticas de ensino.

Objetivo: describir en la percepción de enfermeros gestores, el proceso de implantación de las estrategias de seguridad del paciente. Método: investigación descriptiva-exploratoria, de abordaje cualitativa, realizada con 72 enfermeros gestores de cuatro hospitales universitarios públicos paranaenses. Los datos fueron recolectados por medio de entrevista grabada, norteada por la pregunta: Hábleme del proceso de implantación de las estrategias de seguridad del paciente de este hospital, vivenciado por usted y sometidos a análisis de contenido, en la modalidad temática. Resultados: del análisis de entrevistas, surgieron las categorías: Comprendiendo la trayectoria de implantación de las estrategias de seguridad del paciente; múltiples fases de implantación de las estrategias de seguridad del paciente y; sentimientos ambiguos relacionados a la implantación de estrategias de seguridad del paciente. Conclusión: en las instituciones investigadas, el proceso de implantación de las estrategias de seguridad del paciente es percibido de forma contradictoria por los participantes, más a pesar de esto, emitieron sentimientos de satisfacción.

Objetivo: estabelecer o perfil sociodemográfico e do uso de crack e outras drogas de uma série de casos composta de dez usuários de crack. Métodos: pesquisa descritiva, realizada em uma unidade de emergência psiquiátrica em Maringá-PR, por meio de um roteiro de entrevista semiestruturado. Resultados: os sujeitos pesquisados eram homens, com idade entre 20 a 49 anos, mais de nove anos estudados, separados, pais, católicos e desempregados. Grande parte iniciou o uso de drogas com álcool ou tabaco, em média aos 14 anos, fumava habitualmente o crack em cachimbo de metal há menos de oito anos e já havia praticado atividades criminosas para aquisição da droga. Conclusão: o perfil dos usuários foi semelhante ao descrito na literatura, mas apresentou como especificidades o nível de escolaridade e o meio utilizado para consumir o crack.

Resumo Objetivo: Comparar a assistência em hipertensão arterial entre equipes que elaboram e que não elaboram planos de cuidado, à pessoa com hipertensão arterial e sua família. Métodos: Estudo avaliativo e transversal, realizado com 63 enfermeiros da Estratégia Saúde da Família. Coletaram-se os dados mediante instrumento estruturado preconizado pelo Ministério da Saúde, elaborado e validado pelos pesquisadores. Compararam-se médias/medianas de pontuações obtidas nas subdimensões avaliadas, segundo elaboração do plano de cuidados, por meio dos testes t de Student e Mann-Whitney. Resultados: As pontuações obtidas nas subdimensões promoção da saúde e atendimento individual foram significativamente maiores entre equipes que elaboravam plano de cuidados para os indivíduos com hipertensão arterial e suas famílias. Conclusão: As equipes da Estratégia Saúde da Família que elaboravam planos de cuidados às pessoas com hipertensão arterial e suas famílias apresentaram melhor desempenho nas práticas assistenciais de promoção da saúde e atendimento individual.

Objetivo: elaborar padrões mínimos para assistência de enfermagem às pessoas intoxicadas por álcool e atendidas em unidades de atenção às urgências. Método: investigação documental, construída a partir da experiência dos autores como integrantes da equipe assistencial de enfermagem de um centro de assistência toxicológica, alicerçada em revisão de literatura. Resultados: foram apresentados em duas unidades: breve revisão bibliográfica sobre segurança do paciente e de usuários de bebidas alcoólicas atendidos em serviços de urgência, e descrição de padrões mínimos de assistência inicial de enfermagem, necessários à segurança de usuários de bebida alcoólica, em três aspectos: clínico/biológico, psicoemocional e social. Conclusão: A padronização apresentada, além de normatizar a prática de enfermagem, melhora a execução de programas assistenciais em centros de assistência toxicológica. Abstract Objective: To analyze health education practices developed by health professionals of the Family Health Strategy team in the context of childhood poisoning. Method: Qualitative research, carried out during the months of July and August 2016, with 50 health professionals from nine Family Health Strategy teams of the city of Maringá-Paraná. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews and, subsequently, submitted to the thematic content analyses. Results: There were different perceptions and living experiences among uniprofessional or multi-professional members of the team. Those were built by different professional categories that were working with families developing prevention activities about childhood poisoning. Those activities in groups of health education were intended to bring health professionals closer to the Users, through dialogue. Conclusion: Indeed, health education practices were based on the concept of first aids, and adopting a biomedical perspective. A little discussed of poisoning accident prevention during childhood showed that those practices were away from a dialogical health education.

Objetivo: Classificar o risco social de famílias de indivíduos internados por trauma físico e usuários de drogas, investigados como eventos sentinela. Métodos: Estudo exploratório-descritivo, realizado em um centro de assistência toxicológica do Paraná, com 30 eventos sentinela - indivíduos internados com diagnóstico de trauma físico associado à intoxicação por drogas de abuso, no período de abril a setembro de 2014. Instrumentos de coleta de dados foram um roteiro para entrevista semiestruturada e a Escala do Risco Familiar de Coelho e Savassi, respondidos por um familiar informante-chave. Os escores foram analisados descritivamente. Resultados: A pontuação dos escores da Escala de Risco Familiar indicou 19 famílias em risco social, sendo nove com Risco máximo, e famílias com percentuais sociodemográficos de camadas populares da população. Conclusão: Tempo de uso das drogas de abuso, desemprego e baixo vínculo social dos eventos sentinela, influenciaram os índices de risco familiar.

Objective to describe the structural and functional aspects and support networks of families living with users of alcoholic beverages.Methods a cross-sectional descriptive study, methodological reference of the Calgary Family Assessment Model, based on semi-structured interviews with the genogram and eco-map tools, carried out with relatives of four construction workers hospitalized for injuries related to alcoholic beverage use, and notified to an information and toxicological assistance center.Results there was a reduction of the children between the generations, but the use of drugs was expanding in the families. Distant and conflicted family relationships were found. The neighborhood support network was strongly linked, but the support of Primary Health Care was a weak link.Conclusion the structural and functional evaluation of the families propitiated knowledge for health promotion, treatment and recovery processes to restore fragile family relationships.

Methods: this is a descriptive and cross-sectional study by retrospective analysis of epidemiological forms of Toxicological Occurrence of a Toxicological Assistance Center, from 2006 to 2013. Results: 115 forms were analyzed, with an annual average of 14.4 ± 4.8 cases and 35.6% of the records in the fourth biennial. Most poisonings occurred in males (57.3%), aged between 15 and 49 years (78.3%) and suicide attempted (90.4%). It was found clinical severity of cases because 92.1% intoxicated required hospitalization and occurred four deaths (3.5%). Conclusion: the cases of poisoning by chumbinho increased gradually over the studied years, in males, in an economically active age, and by intentional poisoning. There is a need for greater sanitary inspection in the region, aiming to reduce supply and improvement of guidance to consumers.

Objective: to characterize the profile of users intoxicated by drugs of abuse reported to a center of information and toxicological assistance and related this to the occurrence of deaths. Methods: study of case series reported in the 2010-2011 biennium after active case finding. Data were obtained from epidemiological records filed in the center and submitted to univariate analysis, with chi-squared test and Fischer test. Results: three hundred and thirty nine cases were found, most were men (87.3%), with basic education (61.0%) and elderly (37.2%). Alcohol use (83.8%) and chronic intoxications (89.9%) were predominant. Clinical complications were present in most medical diagnoses (63.4%). However, mortality was higher in the event deferral by cold and fire weapons. Conclusion: the consumption of drugs of abuse influences morbidity and mortality, particularly in men aged at 60 years or above and with low level of education.

Objective: Knowing the motivation of crack users for treatment in hospital environments. Method: Descriptive and qualitative search, using the design of some cases. Twenty male crack users, aged over 18 years old, hospitalized in a Therapeutic Community in Southern Brazil, were interviewed. A semi-structured interview was used and the data were analyzed by their thematic content. Results: Were found three categories that reflect the treatment motivations: perception of the crack harmful consequences; the compulsive use of drugs as the treatment initiation; and, the family participation looking for a treatment. Conclusion: Significant events (turning points) favored the interruption of the crack use and the family assumed a very important place to the users behavior in relation to the use of the drug, exclusively. Objetivo: identificar a presença e as ações de adultos no local da ocorrência de acidentes toxicológicos infantis e os primeiros socorros realizados. Método: estudo transversal, com análise retrospectiva de fichas de ocorrência toxicológica de crianças de zero a 4 anos, arquivadas em um centro de assistência toxicológica. Resultados: analisaram-se 1.012 fichas. O perfil era: sexo masculino (54,9%), com idade de 1 a 2 anos (64,3%) e medicamentos como principais agentes (39,6%). A maioria dos acidentes aconteceu na residência (94,8%), com crianças acompanhadas dos pais ou outro responsável adulto. Imediatamente após o reconhecimento do episódio de intoxicação, 229 (22,6%) adultos realizaram socorros domiciliares e as principais ações informadas foram realização de descontaminação do local afetado por lavagem e por meio mecânico (49,3%); administração de líquidos para diluição do agente (32,8%); e indução de vômito/êmese (16,6%). Conclusão: a maioria dos socorros domiciliares realizados não teve evidência científica e estava ligada a crenças familiares.Descritores: Saúde da criança. Envenenamento. Substâncias tóxicas. O presente trabalho constitui-se de uma síntese histórica das três décadas de enfrentamento da Aids no Brasil, que teve como alicerce teórico artigos científicos e documentos oficiais do Ministério da Saúde e textos da legislação brasileira. Constata-se que a resposta do Governo Federal aconteceu quando a doença já se encontrava instalada no País, e embora grandes avanços tenham sido obtidos nos últimos anos, persistem muitos desafios, como “desestigmatizar” a doença, melhorar a qualidade de vida das pessoas que (con)vivem com a doença, efetuar o diagnóstico precoce, articular as políticas públicas com a sociedade civil organizada, incorporar o conceito de vulnerabilidade e diminuir situações de risco. Para tanto, é necessário que as políticas públicas levem em conta as novas demandas médicas e psicossociais, visando à integralidade e à melhoria crescente dos serviços prestados.

Abstract Objective: To understand the repercussions of coexisting with the drug use in a family based on the daughter's narrative of a woman who is a multiple drugs user. Method: A case study with a family accessed in 2014, through the records of a Poison Control Center in the North of Paraná. It was used a semi-structured interview and field journal, and resources of thematic oral history to apprehend the story, from the question "How is/was for you and your family to live with a mother who is a drug user?” Results: The daughter's memories emphasized repercussions in the family context: long-term of living with drug abuse; absence or transience of the motherly figure, with rupture processes for homeless situation; cycle of parental disruption/forgiveness and continued presence and fatherly support. Final considerations: The narrative indicated a family that could be added to the process of rehabilitation and social reintegration of the female drug user.

Acidentes de trabalho são eventos geralmente evitáveis que, embora subnotificados ocorrem com frequência no Brasil. O objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o perfil dos acidentados de trabalho atendidos num Pronto Socorro público do Paraná e que foram notificados por enfermeiros atuantes na Unidade de Acolhimento com Classificação de Risco (ACCR) e verificar a potencialidade de notificação destes eventos pela equipe de enfermagem. Foi realizado estudo transversal, por meio da análise de 1528 fichas de classificação de risco, nos meses de dezembro de 2010 a junho de 2011. Os acidentes representaram 7% do total de atendimentos no período, acometendo com maior frequência homens jovens, com media de idade de 33.6 anos, trabalhadores da construção civil e com contratos de trabalhos informais. A mão foi a parte do corpo mais lesada nos acidentes, e as lesões geralmente foram leves, porém alguns trabalhadores apresentaram fraturas, amputações e traumatismos graves, necessitando de cirurgias e internações. Os dados demonstram que os enfermeiros da unidade de acolhimento do pronto socorro foram profissionais importantes na notificação destes eventos e apontam para a importância de ações transversais de vigilância em saúde do trabalhador.

Objective To identify the prevalence of risk related to drug use among workers of a construction company and to evaluate how it relates with sociodemographic variables. Methods A cross-sectional study conducted with 418 workers who were given the Alcohol, Smoking and Substance Involvement Screening Test. Multinominal logistic regression was used as a measure of association. Results Tobacco, alcohol, cannabis, cocaine and inhalants were the most used drugs. Moderate and high risks were related, respectively, to the use of tobacco (32.5% and 5.7%), alcohol (26.8% and 6.9%), cannabis (2.6% and 2.4%) and cocaine (1.2% and 0.5%). Conclusion Tobacco and alcohol were the main drugs used by workers. The level of risk related to the use of tobacco, alcohol, cannabis and cocaine were high when compared to that of the general population.

The objective of this study was to analyze the structure, relationships and history of drug use in families of crack cocaine users. It is a cross-sectional study, based on the General Systems Theory and on the genogram. The sample comprised 15 families of crack cocaine users cared for by a specialized drug dependency service in the state of Paraná, Brazil, throughout the month of May 2011. We conducted semi-structured interviews and created genograms, which were grouped according to similarities. For the most part, participants were mothers with low education levels. Regarding family structure, we found most people belonged to the second generation, constituting nuclear families, and to the first generation, with different family configurations. Relationships and family history of drug use followed the generational structural differences. We conclude that the characteristics of crack cocaine users’ families seem to follow the changes in social structure observed over the last few decades. doi: 10.5216/ree.v16i3.21282.

El estúdio buscó identificar la percepción social sobre las políticas públicas para hacer frente al abuso de drogas en una comunidad con altos índices de violencia vinculada al narcotráfico. Descriptivo y transversal, realizado en una comunidad del noroeste de Paraná, utilizando um cuestionario estructurado aplicado a 358 residentes. Los datos fueron analizados com el Statistical Software Analisys , com análisis descriptivo simple. Sólo el 13,9% de los encuestado sinformaron de medidas para la prevención del uso y lucha contra el tráfico de drogas y la violencia en la comunidad. La presencia de drogas de abuso (24,9%), la inseguridad en el cuidado de la salud (20,9%) y en la seguridad pública (13,7%) fueron los problemas más importantes de la comunidad. Aumentar la vigilancia (55,3%) se reportó como la acción más importante para combatir el consumo de drogas. La percepción social de los encuestados señaló la ausencia de prevención y de lucha contra el tráfico de drogas en la comunidad.

Investigación de desarrollo metodológico de abordaje cuantitativo, cuyo objetivo fue validar un instrumento sobre atención inicial al quemado dirigido al conocimiento de médicos y enfermeros, utilizando la etapa teórica de Pasquali. Los datos fueron recolectados en junio-agosto de 2008, en dos momentos: análisis aparente y de contenido por 18 jueces; y análisis de la consistencia interna, por la Teoría de Respuesta al Ítem, por 42 profesionales médicos y enfermeros de un hospital escuela. Después del análisis, 35 cuestiones sobre conocimiento general, médico y enfermería presentaron concordancia por encima de 80% en los conceptos. A través del análisis de la consistencia interna, aplicada a las cuestiones de conocimiento general, fueron desechadas tres por no estar correlacionadas al constructo. Las otras siete (70%) presentaron baja discriminación de los participantes, grado de dificultad variado y probabilidad de acierto al acaso similares. El instrumento final contiene 32 cuestiones y se encuentra disponible para utilización.

El estudio tiene como objetivo verificar la opinión de jóvenes víctimas de traumas acerca de las políticas públicas de control del uso del alcohol. Estudio exploratorio y colateral, con jóvenes en la franja comprendida entre los 10 y los 24 años de edad. Fueron entrevistados 112 jóvenes, los cuales fueron clasificados en tres clases según el consumo de alcohol. Los resultados apuntaron a que los jóvenes tienen una falsa percepción de seguridad frente al consumo de alcohol, apoyan programas y campañas preventivas referentes al consumo y tienen poca confianza en lo referente al cumplimiento de las políticas públicas para las bebidas alcohólicas.
